Huawei Pura 80 Ultra vs 70 Ultra: Is the Upgrade Worth It?

The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra and Pura 70 Ultra represent Huawei’s most advanced smartphones, packed with top-tier hardware and innovative camera systems. With both targeting premium users, this comparison is crucial to understand how Huawei has evolved its flagship line and whether the higher price of the Pura 80 Ultra brings enough meaningful upgrades over the already powerful Pura 70 Ultra.

Please Note: When you buy something using the links in our articles, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

1. Design and Display

Huawei Pura 80 ultra
Huawei Pura 80 Ultra

Build and Feel:
Huawei Pura 80 Ultra adopts a more refined, flagship-grade glass-aluminum-glass sandwich design, offering a premium hand feel and polished aesthetics. In contrast, the Pura 70 Ultra uses a silicone polymer back (eco-leather texture), which appeals more to users preferring a soft-touch, grippy finish. Both devices are IP68 water and dust resistant, but the 80 Ultra adds an IP69 rating, giving it added protection against high-pressure water jets, useful for harsh environments. While both are durable, the 80 Ultra feels more premium and rugged with its upgraded build certification.

Pura 80 Ultra offers a more luxurious and rugged design.

Display Quality:
Both phones feature 6.8-inch LTPO OLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1440Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort. The Pura 80 Ultra reaches a higher peak brightness of 3000 nits compared to 2500 nits on the Pura 70 Ultra, enhancing visibility under direct sunlight. Both support HDR Vivid, but the 80 Ultra’s Kunlun Glass 2 provides improved scratch resistance and shatter protection over the original Kunlun Glass on the 70 Ultra.

Pura 80 Ultra delivers a brighter, more durable, and refined display experience.

Verdict:
The Pura 80 Ultra edges ahead in design and display with superior materials, a brighter screen, and tougher glass protection. It feels more like a flagship-grade device, especially for users who value durability and maximum screen clarity.

2. Specifications

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra
Huawei Pura 70 Ultra

Performance:
The Pura 80 Ultra uses the Kirin 9020 chipset, which slightly outpaces the Kirin 9010 in the Pura 70 Ultra with better clock speeds and efficiency. GPU performance is also improved with the Maleoon 920, making it better suited for graphics-heavy tasks. While real-world differences are minor, the 80 Ultra also comes with only 16GB RAM configurations, ensuring top-tier multitasking. In contrast, the 70 Ultra has a 12GB RAM variant, which might impact performance under intensive use.

Pura 80 Ultra delivers a more powerful and future-proof performance setup.

Battery and Charging:
Both models feature ultra-fast 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, along with reverse wireless and wired charging. However, the Pura 80 Ultra (China version) houses a slightly larger 5700 mAh battery compared to the 5200 mAh in the Pura 70 Ultra. For international variants, the Pura 80 Ultra offers 5170 mAh, still marginally smaller but compensated by a more efficient chipset. Overall, endurance is slightly better in the China-exclusive model of the 80 Ultra.

Battery life is longer and more flexible in the Pura 80 Ultra, especially in the Chinese variant.

Verdict:
While both phones offer excellent battery systems and flagship-grade performance, the Pura 80 Ultra pulls ahead with its faster chipset, larger battery (in China), and consistent 16GB RAM, making it better for power users and gamers.

3. Camera

Huawei Pura 80 Ultra
Huawei Pura 80 Ultra

Main and Secondary Lenses:
The Pura 70 Ultra introduces a unique retractable main lens with variable aperture and the same large 1.0-inch sensor. However, the Pura 80 Ultra enhances this by adding a quad-camera setup with two distinct periscope telephoto lenses: a 3.7x and 9.4x zoom, using the same sensor for better consistency. This gives it unmatched versatility, especially for long-range photography. Both support sensor-shift OIS and laser AF, but the 80 Ultra clearly wins in optical zoom and camera flexibility.

Pura 80 Ultra offers superior telephoto and multi-scenario camera performance.

Selfie Camera:
Both phones feature a 13MP ultrawide front camera with autofocus, capable of recording up to 4K with HDR. The Pura 80 Ultra includes additional slow-motion features like 240fps video and HDR Vivid support for enhanced dynamic range. This adds value for vloggers or those who prioritize high-quality front-facing video.

Pura 80 Ultra slightly improves the selfie experience with better video capabilities.

Verdict:
The Pura 80 Ultra leads the camera category with its dual periscope lenses and enhanced front camera video options. It’s a better tool for photography enthusiasts who want both range and versatility without relying on digital zoom.

4. Pricing

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is priced around $1200, while the Pura 80 Ultra is approximately $1500. The Pura 70 Ultra still offers a powerful camera, flagship chip, and premium build at a slightly more affordable cost. However, the Pura 80 Ultra justifies its premium with upgrades in zoom capabilities, display brightness, chipset, and enhanced durability (IP69). For users wanting the absolute best Huawei flagship experience, the extra $300 brings meaningful improvements.

Verdict: Pura 70 Ultra is better for value-conscious users; Pura 80 Ultra is ideal for no-compromise buyers.

Disclaimer:
Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, and applicable taxes.

5. Conclusion

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra
Huawei Pura 70 Ultra

The Pura 80 Ultra stands out with its dual telephoto camera setup, IP69 durability, brighter display, and Kirin 9020 chip, features not found in the Pura 70 Ultra. It also has the latest Kunlun Glass 2 and a slightly larger battery (in the China model). The Pura 70 Ultra remains a capable flagship with its retractable lens innovation and eco-leather back, which appeals to design-conscious users who don’t require extreme zoom or heavy-duty builds.

Final Verdict:
Choose the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra if you want maximum camera versatility, better performance, and enhanced ruggedness. Go for the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra if you’re after flagship-level features with a unique design and excellent primary camera, at a more approachable price.

Here are the phones with 7000mAh batteries (and more) you can buy right now

Not too long ago, a 5,000mAh battery was the gold standard for Android phones. It was enough to get you through a full day, or maybe even two, and anything bigger usually meant lugging around a chunky slab or sacrificing other hardware.

But 2025 has flipped that script. We’re now seeing phones from multiple manufacturers packing 7,000mAh batteries, and sometimes even more, thanks to improvements in battery tech.

From Realme’s latest flagships to Poco’s oversized endurance champ, brands are chasing battery numbers that would’ve sounded ridiculous for a mainstream device just a few years back. And the best part is that they’re pulling it off without turning these phones into literal bricks.

Here’s a look at the devices with 7,000mAh (or bigger) batteries you can actually buy on the global market right now.

1. OnePlus Nord CE 5 (India model: 7100mAh)

OnePlus Nord CE 5

OnePlus quietly pushed the Nord CE 5 into the big-battery club with its India variant carrying a 7100mAh cell. You still get a sleek, IP65-rated design, a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with HDR10+, and 80W charging. For users outside India, the global version is limited to 5200mAh, still respectable, but not in the same league.

  • Battery: 7100mAh (India) / 5200mAh (Global)
  • Charging: 80W wired
  • Display: 6.77″ Fluid AMOLED, 120Hz

The latest offerings include the flagship HW-Q990F and the versatile HW-QS700F models, both equipped with advanced AI-powered sound calibration. Samsung’s updated AI Sound Engine analyzes the type of content and its surrounding environment in real-time, automatically tuning output for clearer dialogue, punchier effects, and deeper immersion. A feature called Dynamic Bass Control ensures richer low-end audio without losing detail, while Active Voice Amplifier Pro enhances speech by adjusting clarity based on ambient noise levels.

Supporting Wireless Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony Pro, these soundbars combine channels from both the TV and the soundbar for a layered surround effect. The result is a cinematic listening experience with no physical cable clutter. All models are compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, AirPlay, and other smart ecosystems, offering voice control and easy wireless streaming.

A key upgrade is the Convertible Fit Design, supported by a built-in gyro sensor that adjusts sound based on placement. Whether wall-mounted or placed on a console, the soundbar adapts accordingly. The models also include a redesigned compact 6.5-inch wireless subwoofer, now 58% smaller, yet still capable of delivering powerful room-filling bass.

Prices start from Rs 14,990 and go up to Rs 92,990 for the top-end HW-Q990F. The entire range is now available through Samsung’s official website, leading electronics stores, and popular e-commerce platforms.

Realme P4 Pro 5G runs Geekbench with Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, 12GB of RAM

Realme’s upcoming P-series phone just popped up on Geekbench, and it brings some predictable surprises. The Realme P4 Pro, carrying the model number RMX5116, is now confirmed to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset.

According to the Geekbench listing, the phone scored 1216 in the single-core test and 3533 in the multi-core test. But the benchmark listing didn’t just reveal performance. It also confirmed a few key specs.

Geekbench scores

The P4 Pro will ship with 12GB of RAM and run Android 15 out of the box. The GPU is listed as Adreno 722, which should be good enough for casual gaming and basic graphics tasks.

If some of this sounds familiar, you’re not wrong. Based on what we’re seeing so far, the Realme P4 Pro might just be a rebadged Realme 15 Pro with a few tweaks and trims to make it feel new. However, that is just a guess on our side.

Realme P4 series launch

A previous report also hints at three color variants of the phone. The P4 Pro 5G could arrive in Midnight Ivy, Dark Oak Wood, and Birch Wood shades, although the top-tier model may skip the Midnight Ivy shade. As for storage options, it will be available in 8GB and 12GB of memory, and 128GB or 256GB of storage.

There’s no official launch date yet, but word is that Realme has already begun internal testing for a release sometime this month. We will keep you in the loop as soon as we hear about it.

5 Best Gaming Laptop Accessories That Can Level Up Your Setup

Unlike a desktop gaming PC, a typical laptop is a complete package that offers nearly every peripheral that one would need. You don’t need to buy a keyboard, a monitor, or speakers. But if you’re a hardcore gamer, you know that a gaming laptop needs some peripherals to really bring out the best experience. So here are some essential accessories to take your laptop gaming experience to the next level.

Note: While not all of these gadgets are a ‘must-have’, there are a few that are crucial and some that definitely make the gameplay experience a lot better.

Best Gaming Laptop Accessories

1. Cooling Pad or Stand

CLAW laptop cooling pads

One of the biggest drawbacks of gaming laptops is heat. Due to the compact size of those powerful specs, extended gaming sessions can lead to thermal throttling. A cooling pad not only helps maintain better temperatures but also improves ergonomics by angling the keyboard slightly upward. One can even find models with adjustable fans and height settings for maximum versatility (see Claw Cooling Pads). This becomes especially useful when you’re pairing your gaming laptop with a dedicated external monitor.

2. External Monitor

AOC CQ27G3ZE Monitor

For multitasking or competitive gaming, an external high refresh rate monitor can be a game changer. Pair your laptop with a 144Hz or 240Hz display for smoother visuals, or a color-accurate IPS monitor for creative work (AOC CQ27G3ZE 260Hz Gaming Monitor). The displays found on gaming laptops aren’t known for their quality, even if they offer a high refresh rate. So, an external monitor can not only offer better colors, but also be handy in many other ways. A bigger screen allows for improved visibility in certain games (PUBG or Rainbow Six Siege), while the actual laptop screen can double as a secondary screen. Gamers who run a two-monitor setup often have one screen display Discord or other apps while the bigger main display runs the game.

3. Gaming Headset

Cherry Xtrfy H1 Headset

Good audio isn’t just about immersion; it can also give you a tactical edge (Cherry Xtrfy H1). A wired or wireless gaming headset with surround sound and a good mic ensures crystal clear communication and directional audio cues. Look for options with memory foam ear cups and detachable mics for comfort and convenience. This is one of the few must-haves on this list which you definitely can’t skip.

4. Mechanical Keyboard

Keychron Black Myth Wukong Special Edition wireless mechanical keyboard

While many gaming laptops have decent keyboards, they still can’t beat the tactile feedback of a mechanical one. An external mechanical gaming keyboard offers improved response time and key rollover. Compact tenkeyless (TKL) models are great for portability without compromising functionality (Keychron Black Myth Wukong Mechanical Keyboard). Pair this with your cooling stand and external monitor setup, and you have a near desktop level experience.

5. External Gaming Mouse

Zaopin ZPW Max Gaming Mouse Review

Trackpads are a no-go for serious gamers. Investing in a high-DPI, low-latency gaming mouse gives you better control, accuracy, and customization via software. Popular choices from Logitech, Razer, and SteelSeries offer programmable buttons, RGB lighting, and ergonomic designs to reduce strain during long sessions (Zaopin ZPW Max Gaming Mouse Review). Another honorable mention goes to the Game Controller that offers a much better gameplay experience in fighting or racing titles when compared to a keyboard.

Galaxy Buds 3 FE leak reveals full design and new matte black color

Samsung appears to be gearing up for the launch of its next budget-friendly wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE. A new set of leaks has given us our best look yet at the Galaxy Buds 3 FE, while also confirming a fresh color option that adds a bit more style to this upcoming Fan Edition release.

First full look at the design:

A new render shared by Android Headlines on August 6 shows the Galaxy Buds 3 FE in detail, placed inside their charging case. At first glance, the design strongly resembles the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, with a stem-style layout and silicone ear tips—a clear shift from the open-fit design of the base Buds 3.

The charging case follows the same minimalist aesthetic seen on the more expensive models, complete with a transparent lid and compact build. A recent certification listing shows charging rates of 1W for the earbuds and 4.5W for the case, suggesting a modest charging setup. These listings also hint at a possible September 2025 launch, potentially alongside the Galaxy S25 FE.

In addition to the previously leaked white model, the new render reveals a matte black variant, giving users a more low-profile and sleek option. While the white version comes with a glossy finish, the black one offers a more subtle and muted appearance. There’s also reportedly a dual-tone variant featuring a gray case with black ear tips, adding more visual variety to the lineup.

The Galaxy Buds 3 FE are expected to sit slightly higher than the original Buds FE ($99), but still under the premium tier. If they deliver features like Galaxy AI integration, ANC, and enhanced audio quality, they could offer a solid middle ground for Samsung fans looking for flagship-level features without breaking the bank.

While nothing is official yet, all signs point toward a September unveiling, and if these leaks hold true, the Buds 3 FE could make a strong case for being the best value in Samsung’s wireless audio lineup this year.

Xiaomi launches an affordable hair dryer that dries hair in 1 minute

Xiaomi has officially launched the Mijia High-Speed Hair Dryer (model GSHF04LF) in China. The new model is priced at 219 yuan ($30) and is now available in four pastel colors: pink, cream white, blue, and green.

Xiaomi Mijia High-Speed Hair Dryer

Xiaomi Mijia High-Speed Hair Dryer Specs

The Mijia hair dryer features a compact and lightweight body, weighing just 347 grams without the power cord. Its dimensions are 87×73×250.6mm, making it suitable for one-handed use and convenient storage. Xiaomi designed this model for quick, effective drying and comfortable daily use.

The hair dryer is equipped with a high-speed brushless motor that runs at 110,000 revolutions per minute. This motor generates an airflow of up to 62 meters per second, allowing it to dry short hair in about one minute, shoulder-length hair in around three minutes, and longer hair in approximately five minutes. These figures are based on internal lab testing.

Xiaomi has integrated negative ion technology into the dryer, with a claimed output of 200 million ions. These ions help reduce static, smoothen hair cuticles, and improve hair texture. The dryer also includes intelligent temperature control powered by an NTC thermistor and an MCU microprocessor. This system performs 100 air temperature checks per second and adjusts the airflow in real time to prevent overheating and reduce heat damage.

The device supports eight drying combinations through two wind speed levels and four temperature settings: cool, warm, hot, and a hot-cold cycle mode. It also features a memory function that retains the last used setting.

To lower operational noise, Xiaomi has implemented a multi-layer acoustic optimization system. The hair dryer produces a sound power level of 73.9dB(A), making it relatively quiet during use.

It also features a double-layer micro-perforated filter at the rear that prevents hair from being pulled into the motor. The Mijia dryer operates at 220V~ 50Hz and has a rated power of 1600W.

In related news, Xiaomi recently launched a new split air conditioner that purifies air, cools quickly, and eliminates viruses. The company has also introduced two new humidifiers featuring quiet operation, invisible mist, and HyperOS integration.

Lava Storm Play 5G review: Affordable 5G phone done right, thanks to standout features

There are many 5G phones available for around Rs 10,000 in India. The Lava Storm Play, which also falls in the said price segment, manages to successfully set itself apart from its competitors. Apart from being India’s first phone with Dimensity 7060, the Storm Play packs standout hardware specs, like LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, which are not available in phones priced around Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. I’ve spent a few days using the device as my secondary phone, and here’s a breakdown of how it performed in real-world use.

5Final Thoughts

Lava Storm Play
Lava Storm Play

The Lava Storm Play aims to reinvent the budget 5G smartphone and does well enough to stand out. The clean Android 15 software, fluid 120Hz display, and respectable day-to-day performance make it a compelling choice for those who want a dependable phone without unnecessary frills.

Of course, the HD+ resolution feels like a compromise in 2025, and the low-light camera performance could use some work. But at this price point, especially if Lava keeps the updates coming and builds on this foundation, the Storm Play proves that Indian smartphone brands still have a strong game in the entry-level segment.

If you value clean software, a high refresh rate screen, and dependable performance over flashy features, the Storm Play might just be your next budget 5G phone.

The Lava Storm Play is selling for Rs 9,999 on Amazon. Apart from Dune Titanium, it comes in a Frosty Blue shade.
