Vivo iQOO Pro 5G with model number V1916A appears on AnTuTu benchmark

Vivo is expected to announce the iQOO Pro 5G on August 22 as its first 5G phone. Ahead of the launch, we expect the rumour mill to continue buzzing with juicy details of the device. Sure, the latest is the AnTuTu score of a Vivo model V1916A which is definitely the iQOO Pro 5G. Recall that the device had earlier appeared on TENAA with this same model number.

On AnTuTu, the iQOO Pro 5G model with 8GB of RAM and a humongous 256GB of internal storage got benchmarked. As for the score, the flagship Snapdragon 855 Plus-powered model came with a total benchmark score of 497,179 points, which is one of the highest scores on AnTuTu. The score is higher than that of the Black Shark 2 Pro which was released recently. On the individual aspects, the CPU score is 152,511 points, the GPU score is 19,1965 points, the MEM score is 92,027 points, while the UX score is 60,676 points. The high MEM score is, perhaps, the most spectacular and this could be attributed to the various technologies onboard the iQOO Pro such as F2FS file system, TurboWrite and HPB.

As a reminder, the Vivo iQOO Pro 5G will feature a 6.41-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with an on-screen fingerprint scanner and a resolution of 2340 × 1080pixels. The smartphone will come with 8GB and 12GB RAM versions. You also get three storage options to choose from – 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. In terms of photography, the Vivo iQOO Pro 5G will adopt a 12MP selfie shooter. While at the rear aspect, there will be a triple camera setup comprising of a 48MP+ 13MP+12MP combo.

Xiaomi launches the Viomi Smart Dishwasher 2019 model

Xiaomi has launched a new product under the Youpin crowdfunding platform and it is the Viomi Smart Dishwasher. With many people going after products that make life easy, dishwashers are becoming more and more popular among consumers. The new product is manufactured by Xiaomi ecological chain company Viomi who recently launched the exercise Powerball and has its name on the Viomi smart weighing scale and several other smart products.

The Viomi Smart Dishwasher uses an Italian washing pump manufactured by Italian firm Weike and capable of providing 15000pa ultra-high pulse pressure flushing water flow. The high pressure has the ability to clean the dishes as well as decontaminate them but not too strong to damage the dishes inside.

In addition, the Viomi Dishwasher uses a three-dimensional spray technology. The water spray extends 360 degrees both on the upper and lower spray. Thus, there are no dead ends that water doesn’t reach. The dishwasher is also able to achieve a washing temperature of 70 °C which can effectively dissolve oil, and also aid in the high-temperature sterilization of the dishes. In this regard, the smart dishwasher is equipped with Japan imported PTC hot air drying system which dries off water from the body of the dishes.

When we talk about virtual voice assistants, the three names that come to mind immediately are Amazon Alexa, Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant. There are several others like Microsoft’s Cortana, Xiaomi’s XiaoAI but they are not so popular outside China. Globally, Google dominates the Android smartphone segment with its data-driven assistant, Amazon’s Alexa has carved out a niche of its own in the new smart speaker segment while Apple’s Siri is for the company’s products. In case you are curious, just as we are, to know which one has the highest IQ among the three, a research report has been released which gives Google Assistant the lead in the smart voice assistant segment.

The research emerged from the US where the capabilities of the virtual voice assistants were tested using smart speakers. Of course, the smart speaker market is dominated by Amazon Echo series and Google Home series with the ApplePod firmly rotted in the third spot.

he research was carried out by Loup Ventures and how it was done is that the company prepared 800 questions, tested them separately, and scored the voice assistants based on two indicators:

1. Can the voice assistant understand this problem?”

2. Can the voice assistant answer this question accurately?” In order to cover most of the conversations in life as much as possible, the 800 questions are divided into five parts, namely:

1. Location information – for example, “Where is the nearest coffee shop?”

2. Consumption information – for example, “Help me order some paper towels online?”

3. Navigation information – for example, “How do I get to the city by bus?”

4. Information – For example, “What time does the Rockets play tonight?”

5. Command information – for example, “Remind me that there is a meeting at 2 pm this afternoon”

The final test results chart shows that Google Assistant won almost all of the categories with over 90% accuracy rate. On the other hand, Siri came second while Alexa is third.

A similar test was carried out last year with the same ranking but this current one shows all three have got some form of improvement.

Xiaomi India has announced permanent price cuts on a range of smartphones such as Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 7S, Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3. Prices have been slashed by up to Rs. 1,000 (~$14) effective immediately. The price cut is only applicable on purchases made at offline stores. This move aligns the offline and online prices of the four devices.

HMD Global had recently confirmed that it will be present at the IFA 2019 tech trade show on Sept. 5. The Finnish is expected to announce new phone such as Nokia 7.2, Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 5.2. Case renders of the Nokia 7.2 to reveal its design. The new images match the case renders of the same phone that had appeared in the previous month.

The Nokia 7.2 case renders show that it will be a slim-bodied smartphone. The frontside of the phone features a waterdrop-style notch. The most striking thing about its design is the presence of a round-shaped camera housing on its rear. It includes three camera sensors and an LED flash. Below it is a fingerprint reader.

A Xiaomi phone with model variants M1908C3JG and M1908C3JH has been certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. The FCC documents of M1908C3JG/H contains some of its images, variants, display size and dimensions. Since it is equipped with a quad camera system on its rear, it is being speculated as the Redmi 8 or Redmi 8 Pro handset.

Redmi 8/8 Pro Design

The M1908C3JG/H FCC images show that it features a waterdrop-style notch. The chin of the device is a bit thick and has a Redmi branding. The back view of the phone reveals its rear shell has a gradient color finish that starts with light blue at the top and appears purple toward the bottom.

A vertical quad camera setup is placed at the top-left corner along with LED flash. A fingerprint scanner can be also seen on the backside of the device. A volume rocker and a power key can be found on the right edge of the device.

Redmi 8/8 Pro Specifications

The FCC documents of the M1908C3JG/H states that it measures 158.29 x 75.3mm. The diagonal measurement of the handset is 166mm. Also, it houses a display that measures 166mm diagonally which equates to 6.1 inches. There is no information on the screen resolution of the smartphone.

The handset supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and USB-C charging. The handset seems to be under specced to be called as a successor for Redmi Note 8. Probably, it could be the Redmi 8 or Redmi 8 Pro handset. The FCC filings have further revealed that the smartphone will be coming in two models such as 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. Apart from these details, no other information is available on the Redmi 8/8 Pro handset.

Redmi 8A Specifications

Last week, a Redmi phone with model number M1908C3IC was spotted on TENAA with full specifications. Earlier today, a new leak had revealed the hands-on images of its M1908C3IH variant. It is speculated that the M1908C3IC/H will be debuting as Redmi 8A.

The purported Redmi 8A measures 156.3 x 75.4 x 9.4mm and it weighs 190 grams. It houses a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch and support for HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The handset is said to be fueled by Snapdragon 439 chipset. The Redmi 7A that was unveiled few months ago also featured the same SOC. It will be booting to Android 9 Pie OS. The rear side of the alleged Redmi 8A has a dual camera setup with a main lens of 12-megapixel. On its front is an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. It features a massive 5,000mAh capacity battery that carries support for fast charging.

Baseus launches a whopping 124 products in one fell swoop!

Chinese tech company Baseus is a known brand globally. Vivo NEX 3 to come with support for 5G connectivity

Vivo’s Product Manager Li Xiang has been teasing about the company’s upcoming experimental smartphone — Vivo NEX 3. After confirming the “Waterfall Screen” on the NEX 3 and the 3.5mm headphone jack, he has now confirmed 5G support.

Li Xang has shared a partial screenshot of the upcoming Vivo NEX 3’s home screen which shows two 5G icons in the top-left and top-right corner. This confirms that the NEX 3 will come with dual 5G connectivity support.

Earlier, the image shared by the company’s product manager confirmed the design of the upcoming NEX smartphone. In the “Waterfall Screen” design, the company will be using a display that is curved on the left and the right side.

This will allow the company to offer a bezel-less design and the company had previously touted about the 100 percent screen-to-body ratio, which could be hinting at this design. There’s also a possibility that the Chinese company will opt for an in-display camera sensor technology to ensure 100 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The Motorola One Action is the latest Android One-powered smartphone to launch in India. Motorola India has officially announced that the device will be debuting in the country on Aug. 23 as a Flipkart exclusive.. The major highlight of the smartphone is its Action Camera feature that makes it possible to capture videos in landscape mode even when it is held vertically. Motorola is aggressively marketing this feature on the One Action. The device had launched in Brazil last week. Hence, its Indian variant is expected to arrive with identical specifications.

Motorola One Action Specifications and Features

The Motorola One Action features a 6.3-inch HD+ IPS CinemaVision display with an aspect ratio of 21:9. The device misses out on an AMOLED display, but offers a punch-hole design for high screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by the Exynos 9609 SoC with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of native storage. A 6GB variant was also rumored for the phone, but it wasn’t made official at its launch in the previous week. The device features expandable storage for up to 512GB microSD card through a hybrid SIM slot.

Motorola One Action has a triple camera setup on its rear. The primary lens is a 12-megapixel unit with an aperture rating of f/1.8. Motorola has failed to price its products aggressively in the subcontinent in the recent past. The last aggressively priced smartphone from the Lenovo-owned group was the One Power. The One Vision launched in India recently for Rs. 19,990 (~$280) and almost immediately received a price cut of Rs. 2,000 (~$28). The One Action is expected to be priced right above the Vision when it launches in India this week. As for the international market, the One Action is priced at 259 euros (~$288). The official price for India will be revealed at the launch event on Aug. 23.

Honor 9X Flame Red edition sale to begin tomorrow in China

Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro mid-range smartphones were made official in July. The Honor 9X was introduced in three color options such as Magic Night Black, Charm Sea Blue (Phantom Blue) and Flame Red (Phantom Red). Even the Honor 9X has been available for purchase since July 30 in China, the Flame Red model was not released. The Vmall listing of the Honor 9X reveals that its Flame Red edition will be go on sale at 10:08 AM (local time) tomorrow in China.

The Honor 9X Flame Red will be available in three variants like its other color options. The 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage models of the Honor 9X are respectively priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$199), 1,599 Yuan (~$227) and 1,899 Yuan (~$269).

Honor 9X Specifications and Features

The Honor 9X offers a high screen-to-body ratio since it features a notch-less display. It has a 6.59-inch IPS LCD panel that produces 1080 x 2340 pixels full HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The 7nm Kirin 810 chipset fuels the smartphone along with a 4,000mA battery that lacks support for fast charging. There is a microSD card available on the device for expanding its storage.

There is a motorized pop-up selfie camera of 16-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture on the Honor 9X. The rear side of the smartphone has a dual camera system with LED flash. It features a 48-megapixel primary lens with f/1.8 aperture and a depth sensor of 2-megapixel with f/2.4 aperture. Some of the other features of the Honor 9X include side-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB-C port and Android 9 Pie OS that is overlaid with EMUI 9.1 skin.

Leaked information that had surfaced soon after the launch the Honor 9X series of smartphones in China had claimed that the 9X and 9X Pro phones as well as the Honor TV will be soon debuting in India. There is no official confirmation yet by Honor India on their arrival. It is speculated that 9X and 9X Pro phones will either go official by the end of this month or beginning weeks of September.

Nubia’s Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone was announced just a couple of months back, in May. But an update to the lineup is already in the cards. According to our sources, Nubia’s next gaming flagship will be called the Red Magic 3S. This is in line with what Sudhanshu Ambhore had leaked back in July. But we also have a release date for the handset. The Red Magic 3S will be announced in September 2019.

We can also reveal that the biggest upgrade in the new model will be Snapdragon 855+. To recall, Nubia had already confirmed it will release a Snapdragon 855+ smartphone back in July. The company is said to be eyeing the international markets with the Red Magic 3S. The phone will likely be sold alongside the recently announced Nubia Z20 that goes on sale internationally next month.

The Nubia Red Magic 3S is more like a variant to the original Magic 3. So, the processor is likely going to be its biggest upgrade. It actually makes sense why the brand would release another variant of the Red Magic 3. The Snapdragon 855+ chipset upgrades the CPU (2.96GHz clock speed vs 2.84GHz on SD855) and GPU (15% faster) while retaining most of the features of the original SD855. So Nubia is looking to take advantage of the increased performance of the new gaming-centric processor on its new model.

We don’t have more details to share right now, but expect the new model to retain the best features of the Red Magic 3 like pressure-sensitive trigger buttons, 5000mAh battery, and even a built-in cooling fan.

Huawei receives yet another 90-day temporary extension to trade with US companies

Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order that put Chinese tech giant Huawei on its “Entity List”, effectively banning the company from doing business with any US-based company.

However, the ban was later delayed by 90 days during which the company was allowed to buy components made by the US companies in a bid to maintain existing networks and also for delivering software updates for existing Huawei devices. However, the company was restricted from placing new orders for parts and components from the US firms to build new devices without seeking license approvals.

Now as that 90-day reprieve is coming to an end, the US Commerce Department is expected to extend it nu another 90 days allowing Huawei Technologies to buy supplies from US companies so that it can service existing customers, claims a report.

A couple of months ago, in June, after successful talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at G20 Summit in Japan, the US President Donald Trump allowed the American firms to keep doing business with Huawei. But nothing substantial has been done in this regard.

The announcement from Donald Trump contradicted the ban imposed by the US commerce department a few months ago. The trade ban forced various US companies to cut ties with the Chinese telecom equipment maker. As a result, Google also barred Huawei from using its services, including Android.

Many Huawei suppliers in the United States have requested special licenses to sell to the Chinese giant. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross had also confirmed late last month he had received more than 50 applications, and that he expected to receive more.

However, the company has been working to reduce its reliance on US-based companies. Huawei has launched its own operating system named HarmonyOS and is reducing the business it is doing with the United States.

The Realme X 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage editions is priced at 2,099 Yuan (~$298). Punk Blue and Steam White are the two color variants of the smartphone. The new variant will be selling alongside other models of Realme X such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage priced 1,549 Yuan (~$219), 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage that costs 1,399 Yuan (~$199) and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage that carries a price tag of 1,299 Yuan (~$183).

Realme X Specifications and Features

The Realme X is fitted with a 6.53-inch AMOLED display that offers a notch-less design. It offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels along with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The marvelous display of the phone is integrated with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. There is Gorilla Glass 6 protection for the display. The Snapdragon 710 chipset is present under the hood of the device.

The 3,765mAh battery of the Realme X supports 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology through USB-C. There is no microSD card slot on the device. The rear side of the smartphone features a dual camera setup that includes Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary lens that is coupled with a 5-megapixel lens for adding depth effects. It has a pop-up selfie snapper of 16-megapixel.

In related news, Realme will be launching the Realme 5 series of smartphones in India tomorrow. The series is expected to include Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro smartphones. Some reports have claimed that there will be advanced version of the Realme X phone called Realme X Pro. It is expected to arrive with quad rear cameras with 64-megapixel primary lens. The handset could be fueled by Snapdragon 855+ SoC. There is no concrete evidence that support the rumored specs of the Realme X Pro and its moniker. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know more on it.
