Gearbest has launched the Summer Sales Storm promotion, offering supersized savings on mobile phones, and a wide selection of other electronic items.
As part of this recently kicked-off promo, the Chinese online is giving its loyal users a chance to get their hands on the international version of the OnePlus 7 phablet for a lowered price. We will shed light on the aforesaid discount in just a bit.

Much to the relief of those who aren’t willing to spend that kind of money on a phablet, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is offering its feature-laden phablet for a considerably lowered price on Gearbest. Thanks to a 23 percent discount, you can now buy the OnePlus 7 4G phablet for just $539.99.
An absolute steal at this price, the OnePlus 7 phablet offers the following features:

In a few years, Apple will no longer rely on modems from Qualcomm for its smartphones thanks to its new acquisition of Intel’s modem business, actually “the majority of intel’s smartphone modem business”.
According to an official press statement released by Apple, over 2000 Intel employees will join the Cupertino-based company along with intellectual property, equipment, and leases.
Johnny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies said they (Apple) are excited “to have so many excellent engineers join their growing cellular technologies group”.
If you combine the acquired patents with Apple’s current portfolio, Apple will hold over 17,000 wireless technology patents which cover cellular standards protocols, modem architecture, and modem operation.
Apple says the deal is worth $1 billion and is expected to be completed by Q4 2019.
A statement by Intel’s CEO, Bob Swan said the “agreement enables us to focus on developing technology for the 5G network while retaining critical intellectual property and modem technology that our team has created”.
Intel will continue to develop modems for other devices including computers, IoT devices, and autonomous vehicles; so it is still very much involved in 5G.
We don’t know how long it will take for Apple’s in-house modem to start appearing in its phones but it will bring big benefits for it as an in-house modem will result in better integration with the rest of the hardware and also exclusive features not available in other devices.
Google has expanded its slate of Android Go apps with a new addition called Gallery Go. The app is technically a lighter version of Google Photos. It was announced in Nigeria alongside a new Android Go phone, the itel S15.
Gallery Go is less than 10MB in size but its small size doesn’t mean that is the only thing it has going for it. First, it works offline and uses less data too. While it isn’t as feature-rich as Google Photos it can sort your photos automatically. Google says every night, Gallery Go will automatically organize your photos into People, Selfies, Nature, Animals, Documents, Videos, and Movies.
The app also has an auto-enhance feature for your photos and if that doesn’t satisfy you, you can choose from the multiple photo editing tools available. But note that the editing tools are not as advanced as those available on Google Photos but are pretty easy to use.
Gallery Go also has folders and SD card support. So you can decide to arrange your photos in folders and also move photos between your phone’s storage and the MicroSD card.
Google Photos is available to download on Google Play for both Android Go and regular Android devices.

Motorola has a really long history of making phones. While it may not be a popular player in the market today, the brand has been selling smartphones since 1983, when it sold the giant brick of a phone, the DynaTAC 8000x! But the real success for the company came via the iconic Moto Razr series, particularly the Moto Razr V3.
Why was it so popular? Because it had one of the sexiest designs in a phone of its time. It was sleek, all-metal, and best of all, the flip to open sound was pretty satisfying. Anyone who wanted to be cool back in 2005 got this device. Well, by anyone, I mean someone with decent money, because this phone set you back more than $400 at launch. While that would get you a decent mid-ranger today, $400 was a significant amount to spend on a fancy phone back then.
The Moto Razr V3 got full marks for its design. So it’s no surprise that the phone managed to sell over 130 million units between 2004 to 2008. It is the best selling clamshell phone till date, which goes on to show its popularity among users. The phone drew long lines, quickly selling out too.
What Was So Special About Its Design?
Motorola dared to be different with the Moto Razr V3. It was a time when every phone had started to look like a brick. Yes, there were weird designs from companies like Nokia, but they were still fairly rectangular and thick. Remember the lipstick phone? Crazy design, but still a brick!
What made the Razr special was it chic look. It was super sleek, light weight (95 grams), and was shiny, all thanks to its metal design. The body was made out of magnesium and aluminum and unlike other smartphones in its day, the phone’s keypad was tactile and stayed flush with the body.
The simple act of flipping open the phone got a special fan following. Even today, I’m sure a lot of us would just pause for a second to see a Moto Razr flip open. That’s how iconic the Moto Razr has become!
Another cool feature was its camera! No, it wasn’t high resolution or feature rich. But thanks to its clamshell design, you could take selfies or use it like a mirror too. The display outside wasn’t great though. But you could make it work.
Talking about displays, guess where Vivo Nex Dual gets its inspiration from? The Razr V3 featured two screens, a small 96 x 80 pixel display on the outside and a 2.2-inch 220 x 176 display inside. Both were color screens, but nothing to shout about when you compare it with smartphones today. However, the outside screen came in quite handy alerting the user about new notifications, charging, and other details in a short format. The phone had a pretty decent MP3 player too, so you could listen to songs and get into your groove in style.
The Moto Razr had a small 680mAh battery with 250 hours of standby and 7 hours of talktime. It was nothing special but given its sleek design, it was enough to keep users interested.
Despite its expensive price tag, the phone became a status symbol among the youth. If you had a Moto Razr, you were considered to be cool! Motorola released the model in multiple color variants too, including a Black version. Later on, we would see updates to the original model like the Moto V3re and the Moto V3x.
There’s no denying that the Moto Razr V3 holds a special place among all phone users from the 2000s. While we are not sure if the company plans to revive the series with a foldable clamshell like design, it would be really cool to see its design being adapted to cater to today’s users.
Will we ever see a clamshell foldable smartphone from Motorola? Maybe we’ll!
Vivo is expected to launch a successor to the flagship Nex smartphone this year. A recent leak tips the device to go by the name Vivo NEX 3. The leak shared by popular tipster Ice Universe also includes the glass panel of the device.
Vivo will likely be skipping the Nex 2 moniker in favour of Nex 3 since this is the third generation model after the NEX Dual Display. That is just a wild guess anyway.
What should interest you must is definitely the curved glass panel. The curvature looks way pronounced than what we have seen on previous smartphones. Even Samsung who is known for curved AMOLED screens doesn’t have any model that is as curved as the alleged Nex 3 panel. With the glass panel wrapping around the entire device on the front and back, there is no doubt the device will utilise a full-screen notch-less design and the leakster confirms this. The Nex models are known for their bezel-less display. So, expect an extremely bezel-less design that will likely surpass those of previous iterations.
We don’t have an idea when the Vivo NEX 3 will be released but we expect the device to hit the market soon, going by the frequency of leaks.
Motorola has announced a new entry-level phone for the North American market. The Moto E6 is a budget phone with a new design, a removable battery, and an aging processor.
The Moto E6 still has thick bezels surrounding its 5.5-inch HD+ Max Vision display (yes, it is smaller now) though the forehead isn’t as thick as the chin. There is a 5MP camera in front. It has ditched the LED flash of its predecessor and replaced it with Screen Flash. The Motorola branding still sits on the lower bezel.
The back is where the major difference is. Gone is the circular camera housing that made it easy to identify Motorola devices. Instead, the camera is now at the top left corner of the phone. It is a 13MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a 1.12µm pixel size. It also has PDAF and there is an LED flash below the sensor. The Moto E6 is also the first Moto E phone to have features like Spot Color and Portrait Mode (for both cameras).

Moto E6 Navy Blue
Moto E6 Starry Black
The Moto E6 has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (expandable to 256GB max.) and is powered by a Snapdragon 435 processor. This is a processor that was released back in early 2016. It is also built on the old 28nm node. What is worse is that Motorola has also cut the battery capacity from 4000mAh to 3000mAh. So you have a smaller battery and a processor that is not efficient. The Snapdragon 429 or even MediaTek’s Helio P22 or Helio A22 SoCs would have been a better choice.
The battery is removable and charges via a MicroUSB port (5W charger). The phone also has an FM radio, P2i water-repellent nano-coating, an audio jack, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. It runs Android Pie and will come in Starry Black and Navy Blue.
The Moto E6 has a starting price of $149.99. Motorola says it will be available in the US starting today on Verizon. It will also be available on T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Consumer Cellular, and Xfinity Mobile. It will also be available universally unlocked on Amazon.com and at Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Walmart. It will also be available in Canada.
Xiaomi has unveiled a slew of Mi-branded products for its budding customers in Ukraine. Top of the pack is the Mi A3, Xiaomi’s mid-range model rocking stock Android Pie. The Mi A3 comes with a price of UAH5,999 ($235) for the 4GB+64GB version while the 4GB+128GB costs UAH6,999 ($275). Surprisingly, the price is cheaper than what it sells in Spain where the 64GB variant costs €249 ($280) and the 128GB is priced at €279 ($315). The phone will go on sale in Ukraine on July 31 via Mi Stores as well as other retail partner stores.
The features 6.1-inch HD+ display with an in-display fingerprint sensor, Snapdragon 665 processor, and a large 4030mAh battery. The triple cameras remain the same as the Mi CC9e with which it shares design. The camera setup consists of a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. At the front, there is a 32MP selfie sensor.
Also, Xiaomi launched the budget Redmi 7A for the Ukrainian market. The Redmi 7A comes in at UAH2,999 ($120) for the 2GB+16GB model while the 2GB+32GB variant costs UAH3,299 ($130). Other products launched include the new Mi Band 4, Mi True Wireless Earphones, Mi True Wireless Earbuds, and Mi Handheld Vacuum Cleaner. The Mi Band 4 is priced at UAH1,299 ($50) while the Mi True Wireless Earbuds and Mi True Wireless Earphones cost UAH1,499 ($60) and UAD2,499 ($100), respectively. The Mi Handheld Vacuum Cleaner adopts a retail price of UAH7,499 ($295).
Xiaomi is yet to release details on the availability of the other products in Ukraine.
Xiaomi may soon announce two new products based on recent certifications we spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website. The first is the Pocket Photo Printer and there is also the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2. Both products were certified early last week.
The Pocket Photo Printer as the name already says is a portable printer you can carry along with you to print out photos you have taken. This should be similar to the XPRINT Pocket AR Photo Printer that launched in February 2018.
We do not know if this will carry the “Mi” or “Mijia” branding or be launched under a different name. It may even be a follow up to last year’s model. The certification says it has Bluetooth 5.0, so expect a longer range. It also uses Zero Ink technology (Zink) which means you don’t need ink cartridges.
The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 (TWSEJ02JY) is definitely a successor to the Mi Bluetooth Earphones Air (TWSEJ01JY) which launched in January. We are not sure if there will be a significant change in design but the new model will connect via Bluetooth 5.0 for a stronger connection, better range, and better battery life.
We have no idea when either of these two products will launch but they most likely won’t arrive together. The Mi True Wireless Earphones just launched in Europe last month, so a successor won’t come anytime soon.
Lenovo‘s entry-level K series has had a successful run over the years just like the Z series. So, it is no surprise there is a new leak regarding a new K series model. The Lenovo K9 released in 2018 was the last model in the series. There are already leaks about a Lenovo K10 but right now, the Lenovo K11 has been spotted on the Android Enterprise device list, with some key specs and render in tow. The device was also listed by a UAE-based retailer.
The device is listed with a 6.2-inch display with a waterdrop notch. The phone also packs 4GB RAM and 32 GB of storage. for interface, the K11 will run on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor onboard the device.
The K11 was also listed on the website of UAE retailer Carrefour with an AED 599 ($163) price tag. The listing also shed more light on the design and specifications of the model. Perhaps, the most spectacular is the triple rear camera setup with the device packs. The cameras are arranged vertically and located at the top left corner. The primary camera is a 12MP sensor. Two of the sensors are housed in a single module while the third sensor which is likely a dept sensor sits on its own. Same thing with the LED flash.
The listing also shows the device will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset. In addition, the device will pack a 3300mAh battery The battery will feature a 3,300 mAh capacity. We expect the phone to be released soon. What we don’t know is if the K10 and K11 will be launching at the same time. The Lenovo K10 was recently certified in Thailand, making the entire K series naming system confusing. It is likely, some regions will get the K10 while others will get the K11. The specs may just be slightly different but we are not sure about that.
The Galaxy Note10 series might have as many members as the Galaxy S10 series. Alongside the Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note10+, we will also be getting a Galaxy Note10+ 5G. A new leak has confirmed the device exists and will be available in the US.
The leak is a promo material that was shared on Twitter by @evleaks (Evan Blass). It shows the Galaxy Note10+ 5G along with a stylus pen. It also reveals the phone will be available first at American wireless carrier, Verizon.
The poster even says those who pre-order the Galaxy Note10+ 5G will get a free Note10 (with Unlimited). Both phones are shown in the poster.
The Note10+ 5G should have mostly the same specs as the LTE version of the Galaxy Note10+ which has a 6.8-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution. It also has a 10MP selfie camera, an in-display fingerprint scanner, quad-rear cameras, a 4300mAh battery with 45W fast charge technology, 12GB of RAM and 512GB/1TB of storage.
Samsung will announce the new Galaxy Note10 series on August 7 and they will go on sale on August 23.
HMD Global’s Nokia is having a good run in the smartphone industry mostly due to the brand identity and its impressive products that met the expectations of the teeming Nokia fans globally. One aspect where Nokia phones have really impressed us is in the camera configuration. If the latest leak turns out to be true, Nokia could be set to release its first pop-up camera-packing smartphone soon. That phone is the Nokia 8.2 and according to tipster Ishan Agarwal, the phone will debut with a 32MP pop-up selfie camera.
The Nokia 8.2 is a mid-range phone and would take over from the Nokia 8.1 which was launched in December last year. Nokia 8.1 came with a notch design which houses the selfie camera but this time around, Nokia is getting on the pop-up trend. This year has seen a surge in the number of smartphones with mechanical retractable selfie cameras and so, it won’t be surprising if Nokia is also joining the train.
Apart from the pop-up camera, the phone is also expected to come with Google’s latest Android Q operating system. It will also have up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, most likely on the high-end model. There is likely going to be other lesser memory configurations. The phone is expected to launch sometime in Q3 2019 but we can’t guarantee the authenticity of these details. However, we should add that the tipster has got a pretty good track record so far.
The Galaxy Book 2 launched last year as a 2-in-1 Windows 10 (Windows 10 S out of the box) laptop powered by a Snapdragon processor. It appears a successor is coming this year and it will launch as the Galaxy Book S.
The name was confirmed in a leak by Evan Blass yesterday but the device was already in the news before then. It turns out that a device with the name “Galaxy Space” was seen on Geekbench recently. It is believed that the “S” in the name Galaxy Book S stands for Space.
The benchmark result showed the device runs Windows 10 and has 8GB of RAM. There is also an octa-core processor clocked at 2.84GHz.
