Leaked Galaxy Fold user manual includes several new warnings based on recent feedbacks

The Galaxy Fold release, which was put off by Samsung following a number of issues that were encountered by early users, may finally be happening soon. The Galaxy Fold user manual for the AT&T version has leaked in the Korean media, and it does indeed contain a number of warnings based on the issues that were encountered.

One of such is a warning not to peel off the top layer of the device as it is an integral part of the display. This is actually the same warning that was present on the outer wrapper of the retail box, as was showcased by T-Mobile’s marketing head honcho Desmond Smith earlier on. The warning reads, “ATTENTION – The main screen includes a special protective layer. Peeling off the protective layer or using any adhesives on the main screen, such as screen protectors or stickers, may cause damage.” Thus, Samsung not only put the warning on the retail box but in the manual in order to apparently ensure it is not missed by anyone.

Apart from that, Samsung also included a note on the user manual which notifies users that the crease in the middle of the display at the point where the device unfolds is normal. Here’s the notification; “NOTE: You may notice a crease at the center of the Main screen. This is normal characteristic of the device. When folding the device, make sure that no objects are placed between the screens.

The report also revealed that Samsung will try and release the Fold next month (June) in order to beat the Mate X launch in July. It has allegedly been postponing the launch in order to better train the reps on presenting the device and teach potential buyers how to use the phone. Like, for instance, not to scrape off the cover film which turned out to be an integral part of the flexible display underneath, even though it does not completely wrap around and fuse with the panel at the edges, making it look like a screen protector of sorts.

Google explains the existence of Pixel 3a headphone jack; It won’t get Android Q Beta access until June

Google recently unveiled the affordable Pixel smartphone series – Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL at the Google I/O 2019 developer conference. Both the devices feature mid-range specifications like Snapdragon 670 processor, 6GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage. Despite these specifications, the Pixel 3a carries a feature which Pixel 3 does not have, and that is the 3.5 mm audio jack.

In an interview, Google product manager Soniya Jobanputra explained different changes in the Pixel 3a series. Similarly, she described the existence of headphone jack on the Pixel 3a series and said, “We debated on this headphone jack, but we really felt that consumers at this price point, in this price tier, really needed flexibility and that’s what that headphone jack gives you.”

In other words, it appears some officials at the Google premises believe that the customers of Pixel 3a series can’t afford Bluetooth headphones. A 3.5mm jack allows users to leverage existing headphones without the need for USB-C adapter.

However, Google will keep facilitating the standard Pixel devices with the digital audio as it is the “the ultimate way to consume your audio.”

Google suspended the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL from the official Android Q beta support. The reason behind it is unknown, but the devices will remain on the March Security update until next month. The formal OTA upgrade is suspended until June, whereas users can still sideload the OTA image from the Android Developers page. Despite being not eligible, some Pixel 3a users successfully managed to sign-up for the Android Beta program.

Intel-powered RedmiBook 14 laptop gets Bluetooth certification

It was reported last week that Redmi may launch its very first PC alongside the Redmi K20 flagship phone. We not only have confirmation that that info is true, but we also know the device’s official name.

Just yesterday, a new Xiaomi product was listed on the Bluetooth SIG website. The product description says it is a laptop computer called the RedmiBook 14. From the name, we can deduce the laptop will have a 14-inch screen.

The RedmiBook 14’s model number is XMA1901-** with several variants which might mean availability outside China. The Bluetooth certification also reveals it will be powered by an Intel processor. Other than the above, there isn’t much we know about Redmi‘s first computer but we expect it to be cheaper than Xiaomi’s own Mi Notebooks.

Tesla Model S catches fire in a Hong Kong parking lot

In recent times, the safety of electric cars has been called to question after a few electric vehicles went up in flames in separate incidence. Just last Sunday, a Tesla Model S was reported to have caught fire in a parking lot in Hong Kong. It took firefighters over 45minutes to battle the raging inferno before they were able to put out the blaze.

Bloomberg reports that the cause of the fire is yet to be revealed and Tesla is even yet to make a formal statement about the incident. However, the fire incident bears a similar pattern with previous cases. Less than a month ago, a Model S spontaneously caught fire in a Shanghai parking garage. The fire resulted in the destruction of several adjourning cars. A few days after this, an electric car manufactured by Chinese start-up Nio was reported to have caught fire while undergoing repairs in the central Chinese city of Xi’an.

Concerns about the safety of electric vehicles(EVs) continues to grow. A report by the State Administration for Market Regulation shows that last year at least 40 new energy vehicles, which include electrics and hybrids, caught fire in China. Apart from China, there have been a few reported cases of Tesla EVs going up in flames in the US. But Tesla has previously claimed that its vehicles are 10 times less likely to go up in flames than gas-driven cars.

Vivo Z5x with punch-hole screen and 5,000mAh battery could be coming soon

Vivo has launched plenty of phones with notched screens from Vivo X20 phone that came a wider display notch to Vivo V11 from last year that came with water-drop style phones. Vivo has also launched notch-less display phones like Vivo NEX, Vivo X27 Pro, Vivo X27, Vivo V15 Pro, Vivo V15, Vivo S1 Pro and Vivo S1. A leaked photo that seems to have been snapped at a Vivo factory reveals that the company is working on a phone with punch-hole display design. The leakster who has shared the image has claimed that this phone could be arriving in the market as Vivo Z5x.

According to the tipster, the Vivo Z5x will be packed with a behemoth battery of 5,000mAh capacity. The punch-hole is placed can be seen top-left corner of the display. Sadly, the tipster has not shared any other information on the specs of the phone. The battery of the Vivo Z5x could be equipped with support for fast charging. Hopefully, the smartphone will feature a USB-C port.

Unconfirmed information shared by another tipster suggests that the Vivo Z5x could be fueled by either Snapdragon 712 or Snapdragon 730 SoC. The labelled placed on the display of the phone reveals that it has a model number of V1911. Also, the April 25 production date mentioned on the battery of Vivo Z5x suggests that its launch may not be far away.

Samsung Galaxy M40 price in India could be around Rs. 25,000

Samsung Galaxy M40 is an upcoming M-series phone from Samsung. A fresh report has revealed that it will be soon launching in India with a price tag of Rs. 25,000 (~$355). The Galaxy M30 that was announced in April with a starting price of Rs. 14,990 (~$213). Hence, the Galaxy M40 will be releasing in the Indian market with the most expensive M-series phone.

Citing information from industry sources, IANS has reported that the Galaxy M40 will be the first M-series phone to feature a punch-hole display which is dubbed as Infinity-O design by Samsung. It will allow the phone to offer a high screen-to-body ratio. Apart from revealing the speculated price of the phone, the report also claims that the Galaxy M40 will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a triple camera setup.

The exact size of the display of Samsung Galaxy M40 is not known. A recently leaked teaser of the phone with #OMG hashtag is a hint that it will be arriving with a punch-hole Infinity-O display. The screen could be embedded with a fingerprint sensor.

The Geekbench listing of the Samsung Galaxy M40 has revealed that it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 675 chipset. After the Galaxy A70, the M40 will be the second Samsung smartphone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 675. The Galaxy M30, M20 and M10 phones that have launched in the past are equipped with Samsung’s home-brewed Exynos chipsets. The SoC of the Galaxy M40 is expected to arrive with 6 GB of RAM.

Early reports of the Galaxy M40 will be arriving with a native storage of 128 GB. There is no confirmation on whether the handset will be available in a lower variant featuring 64 GB of native storage. The One UI based Android 9 Pie OS will come preinstalled on the device. Since the Galaxy M30 is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, it is speculated the Galaxy M40 will be also arriving with a same-sized battery. Oppo to soon launch a Gundam Edition smartphone in China

A collaboration between a smartphone company and another brand for a limited edition device has become a trend nowadays. A special edition smartphone gets launched more frequently now than earlier for the promotion of a particular project.

In a similar move, Oppo is partnering with Gundam and under this collaboration, the company will be launching a special edition smartphone which is expected to be named Oppo Reno Gundam Edition.

Huawei smartphones with student monitoring customization sparks debate

Huawei, the leader in the Chinese smartphone market, is currently being widely criticized in its home market for a customized smartphone having applications that monitor activities of students and shares data with parents and school.

A report from Chinese media claims that the company has made two customized smartphones that comes with a “student management system”. The devices were introduced to parents during a meeting held at Liuzhou High School located in China’s southwestern Guangxi province.

One of those two smartphones, which is a customized version of the Huawei Nova 4, comes with a “time and content management functions” that enables tracking of time student spends on the smartphone and allows school authorities to lock the phone.

The report says that the student surveillance system was designed by a Huawei research arm based in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. The device can filter content and can recognize and report content that the school deems harmful.

A school official told The Beijing News that some parents had initially proposed the idea to restrict students from overusing their smartphones. The school official also added that parents and students are not compelled to buy or use these smartphones.

However, in a statement to TechNode, telecommunication giant Huawei denied having anything to do with the said student monitoring system. It added that it was a “publicity stunt” orchestrated by Zhongheyixun, a Guangxi-based information technology company.

It seems that the student surveillance system was developed as concern about smartphone addiction among students is rising. Apple has also recently launched a Screen Time feature on iOS 12 as a tool to address the concern.

OnePlus 7 Pro hands-on images reveal its front and rear design

OnePlus 7 Pro will be launching later today through multiple launching events in cities like Bengaluru, London and New York. Various press renders of the OnePlus 7 Pro have surfaced in the recent past to reveal its front and rear design. Ahead of the unveil event, couple of live shots of the OnePlus 7 Pro smartphone have surface to reveal its appearance in real.

OnePlus 7 Pro can be seen sporting a notch-less and curved display. The bezels surrounding the phone are very thin. Even the chin of the device of the smartphone is slim. The back panel of the phone seems to be made out of glass with matte finish. The rear shell of the phone is also curved towards the edges.

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a vertical triple camera setup and an LED flash on its rear. The “48MP” text can be seen imprinted for the primary sensor in the first two lenses. An LED flash and OnePlus logo are present below the triple camera setup. The “OnePlus” branding is placed towards the bottom of the rear shell of the OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus 7 Pro Specifications and Price

Recent reports feature a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that carries support for quad HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It offers a refresh rate of 90 Hz, DCI-P3 color gamut and HDR 10+. The display of the OnePlus 7 Pro is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform is present under the hood of the device. The SoC is supported by up to 12 GB of RAM. It comes with UFS 3.0 storage.

The triple camera setup includes an OIS enabled Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultrawide angle lens and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. It is expected to arrive with a pop-up selfie camera of 16-megapixel. The OxygenOS based Android 9 Pie OS will come preloaded on the smartphone. It is one of the few phones that is scheduled to receive the third edition of Android Q beta. The smartphone is packed with a 4,000mAh battery that carries support for 30W Warp Charge technology.

Last month, Lenovo announced its flagship smartphone — Lenovo Z6 Pro and was available for purchase in a few days. The phone was announced in two color options — Blue and Black but only the Black colored variant was available for purchase so far.

Interestingly, Lenovo has now unveiled a foldable screen device but it’s not a smartphone. The company has showcased a laptop that features a foldable screen. The device, named ThinkPad X1 is a prototype and was showcased at the company’s annual sales event. It aims to show the direction of where the future of computing is heading.

It’s a long way before the product gets commercialized as there are various aspects of the device that needs to be addressed. For instance, the China-based company is still figuring out how a physical keyboard will fit into the computer.

The prototype of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 foldable screen laptop has a hinge that allows the screen to be sturdily tilted up to a variety of viewing angles when it folds into the shape of a traditional laptop. It has a 13.3-inch high-resolution display and is running Microsoft‘s Windows operating system.

Lenovo is planning to take its time for releasing this product and the company said that it has been working on the device for the last three years and doesn’t plan to release it until 2020, presumably hoping to avoid a fate like the Galaxy Fold.

Samsung launched its ambitious foldable smartphone Galaxy Fold earlier this year. Just when the phone was about to go on sale, the South Korean giant had to postpone the launch because of the early feedback regarding the display-related issues. The company is yet announced a new launch date for the Galaxy Fold.

Honor 20 reservations begin ahead of May 31 launch in China

In the previous month, Honor confirmed that it will be launching the Honor 20 series of smartphones on May 21 in London. The Chinese firm has today revealed through a Weibo post that it will be launching on Honor 20 series in the home market on May 31 in Shanghai, China. The company has also started receiving reservations on Vmall for the Honor 20 series from 10:08am from today.

The tagline of the Honor 20 series suggest it will include attractive looking devices capable at shooting impressive photos. The rumor mill has revealed that the series will comprise of Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. The reservations of the Honor 20 series will continue until May 31 which indicates its sales will probably from the very same date.

Honor 20 posters have revealed that Honor 20 and Honor 20 Prov phones will be arriving with quad rear cameras. Rumors have it that the Honor 20 will have an f/1.8 aperture 48-megapixel main sensor, a ultrawide lens of 16-megapixel, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The Honor 20 Pro may feature a 48-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 16-megapixel ultrawide 16-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Some other reports have revealed that the Honor 20 Pro will be featuring a Sony IMX600 40-megapixel main sensor which can be found on Huawei P30 Pro phone.

The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones will be powered by Kirin 980 chipset. These phones may respectively feature 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM. Both smartphones are rumored to be equipped with front-facing cameras of 32-megapixel.

The Honor 20 will house a 3,650mAh battery that will be support for 22.5W rapid charging. The Honor 20 Pro could be equipped with a battery of around 4,000mAh capacity. The Honor 20 duo will be loaded with Android 9 Pie OS customized with the latest version of EMUI. The Pro model is expected to arrive in at least black, pearl white and blue color options. The Chinese firm is also expected to announce Honor 20 Moschino Edition through the upcoming launch events.

Yesterday, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing had claimed through Weibo the name of Redmi’s forthcoming flagship phone will be confirmed today. Also, few hours later, a leak had revealed that Redmi’s upcoming flagship smartphones will be dubbed as Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. The leak has turned out to be correct since the Chinese firm has officially confirmed Redmi K20 moniker through its new Weibo account.

Redmi has only confirmed the Redmi K20 name, but it is yet to reveal its launch date. There is a possibility that the phone may go official by the end of this month in China. As mentioned above, the company is also expected to launch Redmi K20 Pro alongside it. It is speculated that one of these phones may end up as Poco F2 in the international markets.

So far, the rumor mill has revealed plenty of information on the specs of Redmi K20 Pro smartphone. It is speculated to arrive with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display that is embedded with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The smartphone’s screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 6. As Redmi has already teased, the phone will be sporting a notch-less screen.

The rear side of the Redmi K20 Pro may feature a triple camera setup. It may comprise of 48-megapixel primary sensor, an ultrawide lens of 8-megapixel and a telephoto lens of 16-megapixel. The pop-up camera module of the phone may feature a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. It is likely to house a 4,000mAh battery that could be assisted by 27W rapid charging.

Huawei P20 Lite 2019 Leaks: packs quad cameras, punch hole display and more

Every once in a while, Huawei tries to show us it can take its crazy naming scheme up a notch. The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 is its latest attempt at doing so. The last time it pulled such a trick was in 2017 when it launched the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 a.k.a. Huawei P9 Lite (2017) which is totally different from the 2015 Huawei P8 Lite.

Renders of the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 along with its specs and price have surfaced thanks to Winfuture.de. The phone is a successor to last year’s Huawei P20 Lite and it comes with a bunch of new features and a pretty nice design.

The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 ditches the notch of its predecessor for a punch hole display. The hole is pretty small and is positioned at the top left corner of the display. There is a bit of bezel at the bottom but that is expected. The screen is still 5.84-inches and the resolution is FHD+.

On the back, the phone packs a quad camera setup, a big upgrade from the dual camera setup of last year’s edition. The primary rear camera is said to be a 24MP f/1.8 sensor but the resolution of the other sensors are unknown. Three of the cameras are arranged vertically while the fourth is housed separately. We believe one of the sensors is an ultra-wide angle camera while another should be a depth sensor. Images of the device show it has a camera bump.

Winfuture reports the phone is powered by the Kirin 710 processor and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage. Battery capacity is expected to remain unchanged since the screen size hasn’t increased, so expect a 3000mAh battery.

The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 will have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, and dual-SIM support. It will be available in blue, black, and red. The last two colors have a gradient finish. It will also have a plastic frame.

Corsair Ironclaw RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse with tri-mode connectivity released

Corsair has added a new wireless mouse to its growing range of PC gaming peripherals. The mouse dubbed Ironclaw RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse. Just as the name implies, the mouse is indeed shaped like a claw rather than a mouse. The design is similar to its predecessor, the wired Ironclaw RGB mouse but this new wireless model is said to feature Corsair’s Slipstream Wireless technology and features an 18,000 dpi optical sensor. It also comes with support for wired and wireless use.

When it comes to performance, Corsair Ironclaw RGB Wireless mouse features a PMW 3391 sensor similar to that on the wired version. The sensor allows users to push the sensitivity all the way up to 18,000 dpi. The mouse is equipped with ten programmable buttons which can be customized through the Corsair iCUE software. There are also three customizable RGB lighting zones that can also be altered within the iCUE software. In addition, the Ironclaw mouse makes use of Omron Japanese switches which are tested to a high standard and are rated at 50 million left and right clicks.

As stated earlier, the mouse can be used in the wireless mode and via a wired connection. For wireless, you can use standard Bluetooth to connect or via the Slipstream wireless USB dongle. While for a wired connection, there is a 1.8-meter braided cable inside the package. The Slipstream wireless USB connectivity mode is the best, though, due to the presence of Corsair’s Slipstream Wireless technology. This tech allows for low input lag gaming thanks to a sub-1 ms response time. The tech also incorporates Corsair’s Intelligent Frequency Shift technology, which monitors the connection and automatically uses the most reliable wireless signal it can.

The Ironclaw RGB wireless mouse is powered by a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, which the company says will last 16 hours with RGB lighting enabled in wireless USB mode. Without the RGB lights, it can last up to 24 hours. The battery can last up to 30 hours in Bluetooth mode with RGB lights turned on. This goes up to 50 hours with the lighting off completely.

The mouse comes with a retail price of $80 and is already available via some major retailers.

Redmi India confirms another 48MP camera phone coming to India soon

Xiaomi has four phones with 48MP cameras. There is the Redmi Note 7, the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the Mi 9 (including Mi 9 Transparent Edition), and the Mi 9 SE. Today, the official Redmi India account confirmed there is another 48MP phone on the way.

The info was revealed in the tweet celebrating the sales of over 2 million Redmi Note 7 series. Manu Kumar Jain, the MD of Xiaomi India also mentioned the arrival of another 48MP phone in his own celebration tweet.

Leaked specs of the upcoming Redmi K20 Pro phone have revealed the phone will have a 48MP primary rear camera. However, we are pretty sure it is definitely not this phone launching in India soon.

Last month, Mr. Kumar revealed in a tweet that there will be a new Xiaomi phone with the latest Snapdragon 700 series processor launching in India very soon. We believe it is the same device that is being referred to in the above-mentioned tweets. The identity of the phone remains unconfirmed. While we strongly believe it is the Mi A3 Android One phone, there are others that think it is a different device entirely.
