Vivo 1814 images surface as its bags NCC certification

Vivo could be planning to launch a new entry-level smartphone in Taiwan. The reason behind it is that an unidentified Vivo 1814 has been approved by Taiwan’s National Communications Commission (NCC) authority. The NCC certification of the Vivo 1814 hasn’t revealed any details on the specs of the phone. However, the entire design of the phone has been revealed since its images have been found in NCC documents.

Vivo-1814-Rear

The Vivo 1814 features a plastic rear. Apart from the red model seen in the NCC documents, the smartphone could be also available in some other colors. The top-left corner of the back panel of the Vivo 1814 features a vertically arranged dual camera setup. A fingerprint reader is also slotted on the rear shell.

The SIM card tray is placed on the right side of the Vivo 1814 whereas the buttons for volume and power are on the right. The top edge of the smartphone is barren while a speaker grille, a microUSB 2.0 port and 3.5mm headphone slot. The frontside of the Vivo 1814 features a waterdrop notch.

Vivo-1814-front

The Vivo 1814 could be confused with Vivo V1814A that was launched as Vivo X21s in China and Vivo V1814T that was announced as Vivo V11 Pro in India. Both the phones feature in-screen fingerprint scanner. However, the images of the Vivo 1814 show that it is an entry-level phone. Moreover, a shot of the 5V/1A charger suggests that it will be a low budget device. Hence, the newly spotted Vivo 1814 seems to be a different device than Vivo V1814A and Vivo V1814T.

Vivo-1814-charger

Apart from NCC, the Vivo 1814 has been also approved by Malaysia’s SIRIM and Europe’s Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and Indonesia’s TKDN bodies which indicates that it will be released in multiple markets. The specifications of the Vivo 1814 are still under the wraps. Probably, the handset may go official as a Y-series smartphone before the end of the year.

The Zero Smart Video Doorbell was actually developed to function with the Xiaomi Small Love Ai speaker as the receiver for those who have one. In that way, you can skip buying the bell receiver. Buying both the doorbell and its custom speaker will cost 229 yuan ($33) on crowdfunding. The prices may change slightly when it goes on sale.Xiaomi Zero Smart Video Doorbell

The Xiaomi Zero Smart Video Doorbell is equipped with a custom PIR human body sensor. It also has the feature of capturing video clips of any object within its field of view as soon as motion is detected within 3 meters outside the door. Notification is sent to the owner’s smartphone when that happens. We believe this feature can be turned on and off so as not to constitute a nuisance. However, it utilises Xiaomi’s XiaoAI face recognition technology and so can accurately identify family members and strangers, and distinguish them in the notification. You can know who is behind the door without looking at the picture.

The smart doorbell can even be controlled from wherever you are if you left your child at home alone. In that case, you can take over the video conversation with the visitor outside the door and you can also set the Xiao AI speaker to sound the doorbell message, reminding the child not to open the door to strangers. The smart doorbell also comes with a feature known as “SafeSound” which when turned on, can change the child’s voice to that of an adult when he or she is responding to the doorbell.

Huawei Official confirms New Independent OS is Under Development

Huawei recently received a big blow when the US turned suspicious towards its telecommunications equipment business in the country along with ZTE. Huawei has denied any foul play from their part but the OEM has grown wary of the current stance of the US government. Recently, the US also pushed its allies to stop using equipment made by the Chinese OEM. Whatever the actual reason might be, the smartphone maker would make presumptions that other big companies like Google might also be forced towards the same route in the near future. Hence, it would make sense for the company to have an alternative not only in hardware (like SoCs) but in software.

emui 9

Fresh information is that Huawei is developing its own operating system that will replace Android eventually. Now, this has been reported a couple of times in the past but now, Huawei has confirmed the same. Sketchy reports in the past had revealed Huawei was working on something called KirinOS with almost little to no detailed info on the subject. The new confirmation comes from Huawei’s Mobile Products VP, 李小龙 Bruce_Lee.

Besides the official’s confirmation on Weibo, there is little to go about more detailed info. As per his replies to the comments below his post, the best we can say is that the new OS is “under development.”

In a more recent development, Huawei has also been testing its recent smartphones with Google’s new FuchsiaOS and the doors are open to further testing with the company’s development team now making it compatible with Kirin 970-powered devices.
