Galaxy Z Flip7 may go all-in on Exynos 2500, ditching Snapdragon globally

Samsung might be making a bold shift in its upcoming foldables. According to a new report, the Galaxy Z Flip7 will be powered exclusively by the company’s own Exynos 2500 chip across all regions—a major departure from its usual reliance on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors.

Samsung Exynos 2500

Set to launch on July 9, the Z Flip7 could become the first foldable to adopt Samsung’s next-gen 3nm Exynos 2500 chip globally. This contrasts with an earlier rumor, which claimed the Z Flip7 would use the in-house chip only in Samsung’s home country.

The Exynos 2500 is Samsung’s first chip built on its advanced 3nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) process, aimed at improving power efficiency and thermal control. It features a 10-core CPU configuration: a single Cortex-X5 (X925) core at 3.3GHz, two Cortex-A725 cores at 2.74GHz, five more A725 cores at 2.36GHz, and two Cortex-A520 efficiency cores at 1.8GHz. The chip also packs an Xclipse 950 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture, offering support for ray tracing and 8K video at 30fps. On the AI front, it boasts a 59 TOPS NPU.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Leaked Render

Samsung seems to be focusing on better software tuning and cost savings with its decision to use the Exynos chip globally for the Z Flip7. The 3nm process behind the Exynos 2500 could also lead to improved power efficiency, which might help with battery life. That said, it’s still too early to say for sure, as Samsung hasn’t shared any concrete efficiency numbers to compare with the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s. The battery is expected to see a small upgrade, going from 4,000mAh to 4,300mAh.

The Z Flip7 was recently spotted on Geekbench running the Exynos 2500, with scores of 2,356 in single-core and 8,076 in multi-core tests. That’s a solid jump from the Z Flip6’s multi-core score of 6,857. But as always, benchmark numbers don’t tell the full story—especially when it comes to how well a phone handles real-world, sustained performance. If you’re more interested in the book-style foldable, that one is confirmed to stick with the Snapdragon 8 Elite globally, likely to offer better multitasking and sustained performance.

Standard iPhone 17 could feature a bigger display

Apple appears to be making a notable change to its standard iPhone 17. A new leak suggests the base iPhone 17 will come with a larger 6.3-inch screen—up from the 6.1-inch display that’s been a staple for four generations. And the source of the leak? A trusted name in phone accessories.

iPhone-17-Pro-new-button

Spigen, a well-known case and screen protector brand, may have accidentally revealed the new display size via a product listing on Amazon India. The page for the Spigen EZ FIT Tempered Glass screen protector briefly listed compatibility with the iPhone 17. The product is designed to fit the iPhone 16 Pro, which also has a 6.3-inch display, but not the 6.1-inch iPhone 16. The listing was quietly updated, but not before the detail was spotted and reported.

This backs up earlier rumors that Apple plans to give the iPhone 17 a refreshed design in 2025. The screen might finally refresh at 120Hz, which will be a major improvement over the 60Hz cap of the iPhone 16.

Under the hood, the iPhone 17 is expected to be powered by Apple’s 3nm A19 chip and come with 8GB of RAM. While it likely won’t match the iPhone 17 Pro’s “Pro” features—such as vapor chamber cooling for improved sustained performance—it should still bring solid performance and improved efficiency.

Spigen’s accidental listing adds more weight to speculation that a big design shift is coming. A larger screen, slightly thinner bezels, and new internals could make the iPhone 17 a compelling upgrade—even if it skips some of the Pro bells and whistles.

Google’s Tensor G6 for Pixel 11 rumored to jump to 2nm for major performance gains

The Pixel 11 might be Google’s biggest leap in smartphone performance yet. A new report suggests that the upcoming Tensor G6 chip—set to power the Pixel 11 series in 2026—could be built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm process. If true, this would mark a major shift in Google’s silicon strategy, potentially giving it a performance edge over rivals like Apple and Qualcomm.

Tensor G3

Google is already expected to move away from Samsung Foundry in favor of TSMC for the upcoming Tensor G5, which will reportedly use TSMC’s 3nm process in the Pixel 10 series later this year. But according to a new report from Taiwan’s Commercial Times, Google may be planning an even more aggressive move for 2026. The Tensor G6—codenamed “Malibu”—is now rumored to adopt TSMC’s next-gen 2nm node (N2), rather than the previously rumored 3nm N3P node.

If accurate, this shift could deliver major efficiency and performance benefits. Compared to the Tensor G5, the G6 could offer up to 15% faster performance and 30% better power efficiency. That would be an even bigger step up from the 4nm Tensor G4 chip currently powering the Pixel 9 Pro.

The Tensor G6 is rumored to feature a next-gen CPU layout: a single ARM Cortex-X930 prime core, six Cortex-A730 performance cores, and one Cortex-A530 efficiency core. It’s also expected to include a 3-core Imagination CXTP GPU running at 1.1GHz. Paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, the chip could deliver serious improvements in both AI and gaming performance.

Google’s deeper partnership with TSMC could also extend into future Pixel generations, possibly up to the Pixel 14. And with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 still expected to use a 3nm node in 2025, Google’s rumored 2nm jump could give the Pixel 11 a much-needed advantage in the Android flagship race.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 spotted reaching as high as 5.3GHz in a Qualcomm Reference Device

Qualcomm’s next flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, is already stirring excitement ahead of its expected debut later this year. Leaked test samples suggest this next-gen processor could deliver some of the fastest clock speeds seen in a smartphone chip.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2
Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

According to reliable leakers @Olrak29_, two Qualcomm Reference Devices (QRDs) powered by the chip—codenamed SM8850—have surfaced online. One version reportedly reaches a peak clock speed of 5.3GHz, edging out even Intel’s Core Ultra 9 288V laptop CPU (5.1GHz), while another hits a more conservative 4.8GHz, likely closer to what we’ll see in commercial devices. For reference, the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite and its “For Galaxy” version (seen on the S25 series) hit 4.32GHz and 4.47GHz, respectively.

The 8 Elite 2 is expected to be built on TSMC’s 3nm N3P process and powered by Qualcomm’s second-generation Nuvia cores. This architecture could push single-core CPU performance up by 30%, according to a report from NotebookCheck. Graphics may see similar improvements, with the Adreno 840 GPU rumored to include a 16MB cache and deliver another 30% boost—making it ideal for gaming, 8K video rendering, and on-device generative AI applications.

Still, some caution is warranted. The 5.3GHz variant may be a high-frequency engineering sample used for internal testing, and there’s uncertainty around how sustainable such speeds would be in real-world use. The jump from N3E to N3P isn’t massive, so heat management will be a big question if the clock speed sees such a big jump.

Tipster Digital Chat Station reports that the chip scores over 4,000 in Geekbench’s single-core test and around 11,000 in the multi-core test—quite a leap from the current chip’s usual scores of about 3,100 and 9,700.

Honor Magic V5 unboxed, revealing crease and in-box contents

Just days before its official launch, the Honor Magic V5 has surfaced in an early unboxing video—giving us a first look at what could be the slimmest and most refined foldable to date. Slated for a July 2 debut, the V5 combines cutting-edge design with premium extras. So, what does this early unboxing reveal?

The thinnest foldable yet gets another spotlight

The retail box includes a 66W fast charger, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and a lightweight 29g protective case. The case wraps around the back and hinge, includes a camera ring that doubles as a kickstand, and leaves the curved 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen unobstructed.

Honor Magic V5 packs a 6100mAh silicon-carbon battery, claims title for longest-lasting foldable

Honor is set to unveil its next foldable, the Magic V5, at its July 2 launch event. Ahead of the launch, the company has now confirmed that the foldable will feature a 6100mAh “Qinghai Lake” blade battery using a high-silicon anode with 25% silicon content, which Honor says is a first for mass production.

Honor Magic V5 has the biggest battery in foldables

This capacity surpasses other foldables in the market. The Oppo Find N5, for instance, comes with a 5,600mAh battery, while the soon-to-be-announced Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to carry a 6,000mAh unit.

Honor Magic V5 6100mAh battery

By comparison, Honor’s battery is not only larger but is also backed by what the company calls the “AI Dujiangyan power management system.” It’s a proprietary solution that Honor claims gives the Magic V5 the “longest battery life” in a foldable yet, though the claim needs to be tested.

The company appears to be prioritizing power efficiency and battery capacity without compromising on form factor. Despite the unusually large battery for a foldable, the Magic V5 reportedly measures just 8.8mm thick when folded and weighs around 217 grams, making it one of the thinnest and lightest foldables around.

The phone is also expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and will feature side-mounted fingerprint unlocking. For cameras, it includes the AiMAGE imaging system with a variable aperture (F1.6–F2.5), focal lengths from 13mm to 70mm, and a 3X optical periscope zoom.

Pre-orders for the Magic V5 are already live on JD.com, with the official announcement scheduled for July 2 at 7 PM during the Honor Magic V5 and AI Ecological Terminal Conference. Honor hasn’t shared pricing or regional availability yet.

OnePlus Nord 5 inherits flagship camera from OnePlus 13s

OnePlus is gearing up for its next Nord launch in India on July 8, and while the phone itself hasn’t been fully unveiled yet, the company is already drip-feeding specs.

The latest detail comes in the form of camera specs for the upcoming OnePlus Nord 5, and they’re slightly more ambitious than what you typically find in midrange devices.

OnePlus Nord 5 Camera Specs

The Nord 5 will feature a dual rear camera setup headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700 sensor. It is the same lens found on the OnePlus 13s, paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera that offers a 116-degree field of view.

OnePlus is also putting a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 sensor on the front for selfies. Both the front and rear cameras will support 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.

There’s also a LivePhoto feature on board, which sounds like OnePlus’ take on Apple’s moving photo format, though the company hasn’t detailed how it works.

The rest of the hardware lines up with what’s been teased already. The Nord 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and feature LPDDR5X RAM. There’s also a 7,300mm² vapor chamber for thermal management—something OnePlus claims will help it deliver up to 144fps in supported games.

Other expected features include a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5,200mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, and up to 512GB of internal storage. The phone may also ship with an IP65 rating for basic dust and water resistance.

Tecno Pova 7 Series: Key Features That Make It Special

The Tecno Pova 7 series finally made its official debut last week, as one of the brand’s most ambitious releases. With bold aesthetics, gamer-friendly LED lighting, massive batteries, and performance-first hardware, the series aims to deliver big value at a competitive price. Whether you’re after unique styling or an affordable gaming-ready device, the Pova 7 series makes a strong case in the mid-range segment. So here’s everything that makes these devices special.

Futuristic New Look

Each brand has its distinct smartphone design, with the best of the unique aesthetics being restricted to premium devices. While Tecno isn’t a company known for its ultra high end flagships, it has a large portfolio of affordable and mid-range models. A typical budget phone doesn’t offer much in terms of its design, but the Pova 7 series has a distinct futuristic look.

Tecno Pova 7 Ultra 5G
Tecno Pova 7 Ultra 5G

The Pova 7 Ultra 5G, Pova 7 Pro 5G, Pova 7 5G, Pova Curve 5G, and the base Pova 7 all come with the new “Interstellar Spaceship” design language. This also includes the triangular geometric emblems and an upgraded Mini-LED status light that can be customized for notification, gaming effects, and more.

Brand-New AI Tools & Smart Assistant

A suite of AI tools has basically become the standard for flagship phones, with the feature slowly trickling down to affordable models. But despite Tecno’s new Pova 7 series targeting different segments, you get access to the Tecno AI Anywhere and Ella Smart Assistant. AI Anywhere Portal acts as a central hub for tools like Ask Ella (Assistant), AI Call Full-Link Assistant for live translation, noise cancellation, and automated call summaries.

The AI Studio Tools also aid content creation, bringing tools like AIGC Portrait 2.0, AI Eraser, and AI Image Extender, that is perfect for content creation. Popular AI features like Circle to Search are making their way to these as well, allowing users to identify objects or places in real-time.

Massive Batteries

Tecno built these smartphones for gaming and endurance, with every model packing sizeable battery packs. The top-end Pova 7 Ultra houses a huge 6,000mAh cell that supports 70W wired fast charging, 30W wireless fast charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

TECNO POVA 7

Wireless charging tech is uncommon in this range, so having it on the Pova 7 Pro and base Pova 7 5G model is also a great feature at this price range. The 4G only Pova 7 takes battery to the next level with an even more massive 7,000mAh battery, with 45W wired fast charging support.

Built for Gaming

Since the brand positions these devices to appeal mobile gamers on a budget, it brings some features that help make the gameplay better. To offer a more immersive experience, the Pova 7 lineup supports Dolby Atmos on the dual stereo speaker setup along with 4G gaming vibration and responsive haptics as well.

Tecno Pova Curve 5G

Gaming puts an intense load on the smartphones, so Tecno introduced multi-layered cooling system to help reduce the temperature while gaming by up to 3°C under load to allow for longer play sessions without thermal throttling.
