Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have been widely praised for the new look with the “blade lights” on the stems. However, a series of quality control issues have marred their reputation. From fragile ear tips to high-pitched sound problems, the earbuds have faced multiple complaints so far. The most pressing issue, however, is the growing number of reports about charging malfunctions.
The charging problem
Many Galaxy Buds 3 Pro users have reported that one of the earbuds does not charge properly. Symptoms include the charging case’s orange blinking light, a phone notification saying the earbuds aren’t charging, and, of course, the battery percentage of one of the earbuds remaining stagnant. Upon digging deeper it seems that the issue has multiple root causes, again suggesting significant quality control flaws.
Magnetic sensor malfunctioning
One user identified the magnetic sensor, which detects whether the earbuds are in the case, as a possible reason behind this issue. The user suggested a temporary fix involving “bringing the defective earbud close enough to the case so the magnet/sensor thinks it’s inside” and removing it.
The LED should blink, and you’ll see the “charging stopped” notification. While repeating the process a couple of times reportedly solved the problem (at least temporarily), I wonder if a single person considering a Rs 19,464 (USD 223) TWS from Samsung can accept this experience.
Long story short, this is barely a workaround for the issue on this product, even if it works.
The next discovery is damaged charging pins
Another user discovered that the charging pins in their case appeared damaged or “melted.” While earbuds are low-energy devices and shouldn’t generate significant heat, this issue raises concerns about manufacturing defects. Notably, an incident from last year involved a Galaxy Buds FE exploding, which further fuels worries about Samsung’s quality control.
And of course, there’s the software update
A software update released in October 2024 has also been linked to the charging issue. Some users reported the problem only arose after installing the update. While this suggests a potential software fix, Samsung has yet to roll out a global solution. A recent update in South Korea (version R530XXU0AYB3) offers hope, but its availability elsewhere remains unclear.

Despite the apparent manufacturing issues, Samsung service centers have reportedly blamed water damage in many cases, charging users as much as $180 for repairs. Affected users insist they never exposed the earbuds to water.

The One UI 7 update is one of Samsung’s most significant software overhauls in recent years, which includes several interesting new features, improved performance, and, of course, a deeper integration of AI. Overall, the Android 15-based skin aims to enhance the user experience by a significant margin.
However, the rollout has been slower than expected, with only the S24 family currently participating in the beta program. With the inclusion of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, we also expect the older S and Z series flagships to enter beta testing soon. However, the stable release for those models is likely months away. Although, it’s likely that Samsung will keep many of the advanced AI features exclusive to the S25 series.

The list has many missing devices, including several Galaxy A-series models. The Galaxy M series, Tab series, and F series models are entirely missing from the list. If the timeline is correct, the Galaxy S24 users will have to wait for almost two more months to get the stable One UI 7.0 update. Samsung’s Secure Folder, a feature designed to provide industry-grade security for sensitive data on Galaxy devices, has been found to have a significant flaw. Recent discoveries reveal that apps and photos stored in the Secure Folder can be accessed under certain conditions, which raises concerns about the privacy and security of information stored in the space.
Here’s how it works and how you can avoid the flaw
The Secure Folder functions as a “Work” profile, which allows users to store private apps, photos, and files separately from their main profile. Normally, if an app attempts to access files from the Secure Folder, the system blocks access unless the app is explicitly permitted.
However, a Reddit user named lawyerz88 discovered that this security measure fails when using a “Work” app (with a media picker) tied to a separate work profile. In that case, files stored inside the Secure Folder become accessible through that app. So it’s not too difficult to bypass the intended privacy protections.
“If you have the work profile enabled through something like Island or Shelter (or you know, your actual workplace), any apps in the work profile can access the entirety of files saved in secure folder without any restrictions whatsoever.” notes the Reddit user. “It seems it’s restricted by policy only and only from the personal profile and someone forgot to restrict access via another work profile.”
Android Authority confirmed the flaw using the Shelter app, which can create a work profile on any device. This means that anyone with physical access to a Galaxy device could potentially exploit this vulnerability to view Secure Folder data. The flaw undermines Samsung’s claims of robust security, as sensitive information stored in the Secure Folder could be exposed without the owner’s knowledge.
While accessing the Secure Folder typically requires biometric authentication or a PIN/password, the workaround through Work apps renders these protections ineffective. The user reported his findings, and in response, Samsung reportedly confirmed that they were aware of it. The company recently fixed the boot loop issue associated with the Secure Folder and now that many people are aware of this issue, we hope the company fixes it as soon as possible.

You can download “Island” or a similar app from the play store, set up the work profile, download an app with a media picker, and try to upload a photo. You may see an option to choose media from two work profiles, one of which is your Secure Folder.

Today, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station released the above Weibo post to reveal that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is the “Ultra” that will launch in the first quarter of this year. Without specifying the exact name, the tipster claimed that another Ultra, which was expected to launch in Q1, has changed its release date. He could be talking about the Find X8 Ultra, which now appears to be rescheduled to launch in Q2.
Oppo’s Zhou Yibao confirms April launch for Find X8 Ultra
After this Weibo post, Oppo fans started reaching out to Find Series Product Manager Zhou Yibao for an update on the X8 Ultra’s delayed arrival. To clear up the doubts, he released the above Weibo post to clarify that the company never changed the Find X8 Ultra’s launch schedule. It is still set to be unveiled in April as originally planned and it is guaranteed that customers will be able to purchase it that same month.
He added that the Find X8 Ultra will be the only Ultra phone in China with a flat display. While he did not go into the specifics, he revealed that the display will be surrounded by the thinnest bezels ever seen on a smartphone. Alongside the X8U, Oppo will also unveil new IoT devices, a brand-new chip platform, and an ultra-lightweight compact flagship under the Find series.
So, it appears that Oppo may launch three smartphones in April in China. The first one is the Find X8 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and the other two are said to be “X8S” branded phones, such as the Find X8S and Find X8S Mini (unofficial name). The X8S models may come equipped with the new Dimensity 9400+ chip, which is expected to go official in March.

Nothing’s sub-brand, CMF, is reportedly working on its next TWS earbuds, the CMF Buds 2 Plus. The company has launched the CMF Buds Pro, CMF Buds, and Buds Pro 2 so far.
The upcoming Buds 2 Plus has recently appeared on the FCC certification website, which reveals key details about its design, battery, and features. While it’s unclear whether the Buds 2 Plus will succeed the original CMF Buds (released back in March 2024), the certification hints at notable upgrades within a familiar design language.
CMF Buds 2 Plus details
The CMF Buds 2 Plus (model number B184) will feature a square-shaped case with a rotating dial, similar to the CMF Buds Pro 2. This dial, expected to be called the ‘Smart Dial,’ will allow users to adjust volume, control playback, and customize settings, offering enhanced functionality compared to the original CMF Buds.
The case also bears the ‘CMF by Nothing’ branding at the bottom right corner, maintaining the brand’s minimalist aesthetic.
In terms of dimensions, the case measures 73mm x 64mm and weighs 105 grams. The earbuds themselves feature a semi-in-ear design. Although it’s unclear if they will include silicone ear tips. Each earbud is powered by a 53mAh battery, while the case packs a 460mAh one.

The case of the upcoming Buds 2 Plus supports 3W input and 1.2W output, which means each earbud charges at 0.6W. Judging from the battery capacity, it should result in a decently fast charging speed. The Buds 2 Plus will also support Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, which ensures seamless pairing and efficient operation.
While other details remain under wraps, the Buds 2 Plus could potentially launch alongside the Nothing Phone (3a) series on March 4. Sony is set to significantly upgrade the camera capabilities of its upcoming flagship, the Xperia 1 VII. According to a report from Japanese publication Sumahodigest, Sony is incorporating its latest Exmor T sensor across all three rear cameras. It will also be interesting to see how the 1 VII competes with the mainstream flagships such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra or the vivo X200 Pro that primarily focuses on computational photography.
