GTA 6 Performance Insights: 30fps Target for PS5 & Xbox Series X, Optimized for PC Later

As excitement for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) continues to build, discussions are growing around how the game will perform on consoles and how much it might cost. A former Rockstar Games animator recently shared his thoughts on the game’s expected frame rate, while separate reports suggest GTA 6 could come with a higher price tag than previous games.

Console Frame Rate Expectations

Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York, who worked on GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, believes GTA 6 will likely run at 30 frames per second (fps) on consoles. In an interview with Kiwi Talkz, he explained that keeping the frame rate stable is likely to be a priority for Rockstar.

GTA 6

He suggested that while the game might sometimes reach 40 or 50fps, it is unlikely to run consistently at 60fps on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X unless Rockstar uses AI-driven upscaling or other optimization techniques. However, PC players with high-end hardware may be able to achieve higher frame rates after launch.

Looking at past releases, GTA 5 originally ran at 30fps on PlayStation 3 and only reached 60fps on newer consoles years later after optimizations. Given GTA 6’s improved graphics, a similar approach might be expected.

Another topic of discussion is the potential cost of GTA 6. Industry analyst Matthew Ball recently suggested in his State of Video Gaming in 2025 report that Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, might introduce a $100 price point for the game’s standard edition.

Adding to the speculation, a leaked release date from Spanish retailer XUruguay listed GTA 6 as launching on September 17, 2025, exactly 12 years after GTA 5’s debut. The listing was quickly removed, leaving fans uncertain whether it was a genuine leak or an estimation based on Rockstar’s previously announced fall 2025 release window.

What makes DeepSeek different from other AI models?

The artificial intelligence industry has long been dominated by U.S.-based companies like OpenAI, Google, and Meta. However, the recent emergence of DeepSeek, a Chinese AI startup, has disrupted the global AI landscape.

DeepSeek’s latest model, DeepSeek-R1, has made headlines for its competitive performance, open-source nature, and cost-efficient development. As AI becomes an increasingly critical part of technological innovation, understanding how DeepSeek differentiates itself from other leading models is essential.

DeepSeek

1. Open-Source Model vs. Proprietary AI

DeepSeek takes a different approach from U.S. AI giants like OpenAI by prioritizing open-source development. The release of its DeepSeek-R1 model under an MIT license gives researchers, developers, and businesses the freedom to access, modify, and deploy the technology.

OpenAI, on the other hand, has moved away from its initial open-source philosophy, keeping newer GPT models proprietary. This open-source approach provides greater transparency, fosters collaborative improvements, and lowers the barriers to AI adoption, making DeepSeek an attractive alternative to enterprises and independent developers who prefer not to be locked into proprietary ecosystems.

2. Model Parameters and Architecture

DeepSeek-R1 utilizes a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, which significantly enhances computational efficiency. The model boasts 671 billion parameters, but due to its MoE setup, only 37 billion parameters are active at any given time. This enables it to achieve high-level performance while maintaining a lower computational cost than traditional transformer-based architectures.

In comparison, OpenAI’s GPT-4 is estimated to have around 1.8 trillion parameters, requiring significantly more computational power and leading to higher operational costs. DeepSeek’s approach allows it to optimize resources while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in text-based tasks.

3. Cost-Efficiency and Resource Utilization

DeepSeek has achieved AI performance on par with leading models like OpenAI’s GPT-4o, Meta’s Llama 3.1, and Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet but at a fraction of the cost. The company claims to have trained DeepSeek-R1 with an estimated $5.6 million budget, significantly lower than the hundreds of millions of dollars spent by competitors.

This cost efficiency is largely due to its use of Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture, which optimizes computation by activating only the most relevant parts of the model during each interaction.

DeepSeek reportedly trained its model using H800 GPUs, a slightly downgraded version of Nvidia’s high-performance H100 GPUs, which are restricted from export to China due to U.S. sanctions. Despite these hardware limitations, DeepSeek has demonstrated that it can develop highly competitive AI models with lower computational demands.

4. Reasoning and Coding Capabilities

DeepSeek’s AI models, particularly DeepSeek-R1, excel in technical tasks such as reasoning, coding, and mathematics. In third-party benchmarks, DeepSeek-R1 outperformed GPT-4o and other leading AI models in logical problem-solving, math computations, and code generation. According to reports, it scored 2,029 Elo on Codeforces, a coding competition platform, surpassing 96.3% of human participants.

It integrates chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning, enabling it to break down complex problems into step-by-step solutions, a key area where OpenAI’s o1 model also focuses. While OpenAI’s ChatGPT remains superior in creative writing, conversational abilities, and nuanced human-like interactions, DeepSeek has carved out a niche as the preferred AI for developers, engineers, and researchers who need precise, logic-driven outputs.

5. Language and Market Focus

DeepSeek is uniquely positioned to serve both Chinese and English-speaking markets. Unlike OpenAI, which primarily optimizes for English-speaking users, DeepSeek is bilingual by design, excelling in both English and Chinese tasks. It has also outperformed American models in Chinese-language benchmarks, making it an attractive alternative for businesses and developers working in China and other Mandarin-speaking regions.

However, DeepSeek does exhibit language mixing tendencies, sometimes generating responses that blend English and Chinese even when prompts are given in a different language. This remains a limitation that the company continues to refine.

6. Pricing

The biggest advantage over its competitors is its affordable pricing model. DeepSeek-R1 offers API access at a rate of $0.14 per million tokens, making it significantly cheaper than OpenAI’s GPT-4o, which charges $7.50 per million tokens. This cost-effective pricing strategy has made DeepSeek an attractive option for developers and businesses looking for a high-performance AI model without the high operational expenses associated with competitors.

7. Security and Censorship Concerns

As a Chinese company, DeepSeek must comply with China’s strict internet regulations, which enforce content moderation around politically sensitive topics. Users have noticed that DeepSeek will not respond to queries about events like the Tiananmen Square massacre or China’s human rights record.

Conversely, OpenAI and other U.S. companies also implement content moderation, but they frame their policies around safety and ethical guidelines rather than government-imposed restrictions. This has raised concerns among privacy advocates and AI researchers who fear that DeepSeek could be leveraged for state-controlled narratives.

DeepSeek also got into trouble recently as its app was removed from Italian stores following a privacy investigation by Italy’s data regulator, Garante. Authorities are probing its data collection practices, raising concerns about compliance with EU privacy laws and potential security risks.

8. Market Impact and Industry Disruption

DeepSeek’s emergence has already shaken global AI markets. The launch of DeepSeek-R1 triggered a major selloff in AI-related stocks, with Nvidia losing $600 billion in market value over fears that lower-cost AI models could reduce the demand for expensive AI chips.

Following DeepSeek’s success, other Chinese AI firms such as Alibaba’s Qwen and ByteDance’s AI division rushed to update their own models, fueling a new wave of AI innovation in China. U.S. lawmakers and tech leaders, including President Donald Trump, have acknowledged DeepSeek as a potential threat to U.S. AI dominance.

9. Future Prospects and Industry Implications

DeepSeek is poised to continue growing, with ambitions to reach Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), a goal shared by OpenAI. However, its path will be shaped by factors such as international adoption, regulatory actions by U.S. policymakers, and continued AI innovation.

The AI arms race is intensifying, and DeepSeek’s rapid rise suggests that smaller, cost-efficient AI models may be the future rather than the largest, most expensive ones.

Galaxy Z Fold7 to feature Snapdragon 8 Elite, and S25 Ultra’s ProScaler display tech

Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 series with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip (list of devices with it) worldwide and the reason was reportedly some temporary production issues of the Exynos 2500 chip. Previous reports from South Korea also claimed that both the upcoming foldables will be powered by the Exynos 2500 chip that was supposed to power the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus in most of the markets worldwide.

However, tipster @PandaFlashPro now claims that the Z Fold7 will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite worldwide.

Even though Samsung has made significant improvements to its in-house chips in the last few years, they are still inferior to the Snapdragon flagships. This is one of the biggest reasons Samsung shifted to a wider adoption of Snapdragon chips starting with the Galaxy S23 series. Although it powered the base and plus models of the S24 series with the Exynos 2400, it again had to power all S25 models with the latest Qualcomm flagship worldwide.

No word for the Z Flip7 yet

It’s important to note that the tipster only mentioned Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Galaxy Z Fold7. It seems that the Exynos 2500 either doesn’t meet the performance requirements for a large-screen foldable or Samsung simply couldn’t produce enough units due to previously reported yield issues. Regardless, we hope Samsung keeps powering at least the book-style foldable with the Snapdragon chips, just as it has done since the first Fold.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

The tipster also suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will support S25’s ProScaler feature that can upscale the resolution of the content on-device as you are watching. However, the peak brightness may remain at 2600 units, the same as Z Fold6. The storage and memory configuration also remains the same: 256GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 12GB RAM, and 1TB 12GB RAM.

Microsoft to bring DeepSeek R1 to Copilot+ PCs soon for efficient on-device AI processing

Heard of DeepSeek R1? Microsoft’s latest move is to bring distilled versions of DeepSeek R1 to Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs. It will allow developers to work on AI features that will run super efficiently on-device. Here’s everything you need to know about DeepSeek and its first AI model.

Microsoft has announced that it will soon offer developers the tools to build AI apps. For those unfamiliar, the DeepSeek R1-based AI features on Copilot+ PCs won’t require an internet connection to function. It also reduces concerns about data privacy as the user data will no longer need to be uploaded to the cloud for processing.

Here’s the rollout plan

Although the company hasn’t released an exact timeline yet, they have at least shared some details about it. The relatively new Snapdragon X-powered devices will be the first to run DeepSeek R1-based features, with Intel and AMD systems joining the party later. It’s not surprising though, as the Snapdragon X chips bring much more capable and power-efficient NPUs to consumer-grade devices.

Microsoft will start with “DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-1.5B”. The first wave of devices to get this upgrade are those powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite chips. Think sleek laptops from brands like Asus, Lenovo, Dell, HP, and Acer. These devices already pack NPUs with 45 TOPS (that’s a lot of AI muscle), so they’re perfect for handling these new models.

Intel’s Core Ultra 200V devices are next in line, followed by AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 series. Interestingly, AMD’s already dropped some guides for DeepSeek R1 Distill, even for their older Ryzen 8040/7040 chips. Sure, those older chips don’t have the same NPU firepower as the newer ones, but hey, it’s nice to see AMD keeping things inclusive.

Nvidia RTX 5090 & 5080 prices skyrocket amid production delays: RTX 5090 hits $6000

The launch of Nvidia’s RTX 50 series has left gamers frustrated and empty-handed, with scalpers reselling the RTX 5090 for as much as $6000—three times the MSRP. Not to mention, the situation has left many questioning if they’ll ever be able to get their hands on these next-gen GPUs at a reasonable price any time soon.

geforce-rtx-5090-af550-t-1

Notably, retailers like Best Buy and Newegg listed the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 at 9 AM EST, but stock vanished almost instantly. Only a lucky few managed to grab a card, but most were met with disappointment as checkout errors and sold-out notifications became the norm. Nvidia’s own store didn’t even list the Founders Edition cards, which added to the disappointment.

Meanwhile, eBay scalpers are having a field day. The RTX 5090 is listed on the platform for jaw-dropping prices, with some sellers asking for over $6000. Even the RTX 5080, with an MSRP of 1999, is being resold for 1,800 to 2,200. Some sketchy listings have even been removed for violating eBay policies. But sellers with verified stock are raking in massive profits. Check out the benchmark listings of the RTX 5080 here.

The reason behind this price hike

The root of the problem lies in a combination of high demand and limited supply. Reports suggest a design flaw in Nvidia’s Blackwell GPU chips caused production delays, which has resulted in the limited availability. Third-party manufacturers like MSI received far fewer chips than expected, further reducing the supply of custom cards.

Unfortunately, the situation may not change soon. Analysts suggest not to expect significant stocks any time soon. And even when it finally happens, scalpers are likely to dominate the market. If past GPU launches are any indication, demand will remain higher than the supply for months, if not longer.

For now, gamers can only hope that Nvidia ramps up production as soon as possible and find ways to curb scalping. Until then, the dream of upgrading to an RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 remains out of reach for most.

Galaxy S25 Ultra fixes two major display issues from the S24 Ultra

Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 Ultra with some minor improvements in hardware, while the rest of the focus was on improving the software experience, particularly with AI. As for the display, it’s said to use the same M13 panel as that of the S24 Ultra. And there are no changes in brightness numbers as well.

No more grainy effect on low brightness

However, Samsung’s new Ultra flagship has reportedly fixed two issues related to the display of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The first one is, as Notebookcheck mentioned, “a grainy effect” that used to appear on the display of its predecessor in low-brightness conditions.

I first noticed the issue on the iQOO Neo9 Pro while capturing the stars. After zooming in a bit, as I was scrolling, I noticed a fair amount of noise that didn’t move with the stars. While it’s not visible apart from the extremely dim situations, it’s something that hinders the viewing experience by quite a bit. Thankfully Samsung has solved the problem with their latest Ultra phone.

The tipster also shared images of the Oppo Find X8 and OnePlus 13 in the same situation showcasing the difference between them and the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

A smoother transition between color shades

The Galaxy S24 Ultra was also previously criticized for its inability to depict colors accurately despite being an Ultra flagship. As Ice Universe showcased in a different post, the latest model also offers smoother transitions between color shades while displaying a solid background. The issue Ice Universe is trying to showcase here becomes more noticeable in situations like an image of a sunset where the display shows bands of colors on the sky instead of a smooth transition as you see with your own eyes.

On the surface, the phone now packs the Corning Gorilla Armor 2, which is marketed as the “Industry’s First Anti-Reflective Glass Ceramic For Mobile Devices.” Of course, the S24 Ultra also came with an anti-reflective coating (which started peeling off after 6 months of normal use), but the ‘Ceramic’ appears to be a new addition this year.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra: global variant’s Storage, RAM revealed 2 months ahead of launch

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will launch in China in February, as confirmed by Lu Weibing, President of the Xiaomi Group. The phone will make its way to the global market at MWC 2025, which is set for 3 Mar – 6 Mar.

But before the announcement, 91mobiles in collaboration with tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore revealed the memory configuration and color options of the device. According to the tipster, the phone will be available in a 16GB + 512GB configuration. For context, this is the same configuration the predecessor came with.

As for the color options, the tipster says buyers will have three options to choose from: black, white, and silver. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra came with the black and white color option, both of which have vegan leather back.

What we know so far:

The upcoming phone was recently revealed in hands-on images, suggesting that the overall design is similar to the 14 Ultra. But upon closer inspection, there are a few notable changes: the Leica logo has moved from the center of the camera island to the side and the back panel appears to be a textured glass. The repositioning of the Leica branding suggests a significant change in sensor size or the number of sensors. The protrusion of the camera module is also significant.

Not to mention, Xiaomi is focusing on the imaging capabilities just like last year. Following the Vivo X200 Pro, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will reportedly be the second phone to pack a 200 MP periscope telephoto. It will be paired with a 1″ main camera.

The device will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which is powering devices like the OnePlus 13 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The new chip will be paired with a 6000 mAh battery (up from 5,300 mAh of the predecessor) and 90W charging, as confirmed by the 3C certification listing. it may also be paired with 50W wireless charging.

Not all VPNs are safe: Google Play Store now flags secure VPNs with a verified badge

Google is introducing a “Verified” badge on the Play Store to help users identify safe and reliable VPN apps. This badge, displayed as a shield with a checkmark and the word “Verified,” indicates that the VPN meets strict security and privacy standards, ensuring users can trust apps that genuinely protect their data.

VPN

How VPNs Can Earn Google’s Verified Badge

To earn the badge, VPN apps must pass Google’s Mobile Application Security Assessment (MASA) Level 2 and comply with Play Store guidelines. Developers must meet specific criteria, including having at least 10,000 installs, 250 reviews, and 90 days of availability on the Play Store. They must also operate under an organization developer account and submit a declaration in the Data Safety section, detailing how user data is handled and confirming independent security audits.

Google Play Store VPN

This initiative addresses growing concerns about malicious VPN apps that pose as security tools while harvesting data or spreading malware. Earlier this month, Google warned about legitimate-looking VPNs being used as backdoors for cyberattacks. With VPN usage rising due to privacy concerns and online restrictions, the need for clear verification is critical.

Leading VPN providers like NordVPN, Hide.me, and Aloha Browser have already received the badge, highlighting their commitment to user security. Verified apps may also gain increased visibility on the Play Store, encouraging developers to adhere to these standards.

This move is part of Google’s broader efforts to enhance Play Store transparency and security, following updates like privacy labels and independent security review banners. Last year, Google also introduced a verification badge for government-made apps, helping users identify legitimate applications from official sources.

As cyber threats evolve, the “Verified” badge is a crucial step in helping users make informed choices in a crowded VPN market, ensuring safer and more reliable app experiences.

Why you should wait for Nothing Phone 3a series?

Nothing is gearing up for a launch event on 4th March 2025 where it is set to debut the Phone (3a) series of smartphones. These are next-gen mid range models that are the successor to the Phone (2a) lineup. But the mid range segment is a fierce segment with a lot of competition. So are these worth the wait? Read on to find out.

1. Nothing Phone (3a) Series: Capable Specs

A recent leak confirmed that the Nothing Phone (3a) will launch with a tall 6.8-inch OLED display. This is likely a flat pane with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the Phone (3a) could be equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC, which could be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

Other notable features include a 5000mAh battery pack, 45W wired fast charging, and Android 15 OS based Nothing OS 3.1 custom skin out of the box. There is also the Phone (3a) Pro model in the works, which will likely offer slightly better specs. This may include a faster processor

2. New Telephoto Camera

One of the biggest upgrades in the next gen Nothing mid range phones is the triple camera setup on the back. Even with the last flagship model, the Nothing Phone (2), you only got two cameras on the back. It included a main and an ultra wide angle lens.

However, a recent teaser hinted at a triple camera setup, which was later seen in a leaked live image of the Phone (3a). Based on latest rumors, the Phone (3a) houses a 50MP main sensor that is paired with an 8MP ultra wide angle lens, and a 50MP telephoto shooter. The periscope sensor could offer 2x optical zoom, which would make it the first from the brand to offer lossless magnification.

3. Unique Design

It is not all about the specs with design also being a crucial aspect you consider when buying a smartphone and Nothing is a brand that stands out with its products. The Phone (3a) lineup is expected to launch with the same transparent body that blends a metal frame on the side and Glpyh LED lighting at the back.

This head-turning design is what the company is known for, which clearly stands out from the crowd. Nothing builds an experience different from its competitors that could be a refreshing choice for those who plan to buy a new smartphone soon.

Samsung Magnetic Wallet for Galaxy S25 series launched with 50% discount

Samsung has officially launched its Magnetic Wallet for the Galaxy S25 series, bringing a sleek and practical accessory to its latest flagship lineup. Designed to attach seamlessly to the back of the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, the wallet offers a stylish faux leather finish and the ability to hold two to three essential cards, including credit, debit, and membership cards.

Magnetic Wallet for Galaxy S25

While third-party manufacturers have already introduced magnetic wallets for Samsung’s new smartphones, this is the company’s first official offering, ensuring a perfect fit and seamless integration with the devices.

Currently available in black, the Samsung Magnetic Wallet carries a standard retail price of $29.99. However, for a limited time, Samsung is offering a significant 50% discount, bringing the price down to just $14.99. The wallet is already shipping with expected delivery dates as early as February 3.

Unlike some third-party alternatives that obstruct the lowest camera lens on the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung’s official Magnetic Wallet incorporates a raised magnetic ring that positions the wallet below the camera module.

This ensures an unobstructed view when taking photos or recording videos. However, Samsung does caution that using the wallet may slightly impact flash photography, recommending its removal when using the flash in low-light conditions.

The launch of this accessory aligns with Samsung’s broader adoption of the Qi2 wireless charging standard. While the Galaxy S25 series does not have built-in Qi2 magnets, Samsung has introduced compatible cases that enable Qi2 magnetic charging and support for accessories like this wallet. However, these official cases are not available yet so even if you get this wallet early you can’t use it. You can use a third-party case until then.

With the growing ecosystem of MagSafe and Qi2-compatible products, Galaxy S25 users can now take advantage of a variety of accessories, from wireless chargers to power banks and magnetic mounts.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S25 series last week, featuring the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. The S25 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, while the S25+ features a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, both with 120Hz refresh rates and powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. They come with 12GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, a 50MP triple-camera system, IP68 rating, and 4000mAh (S25) / 4900mAh (S25+) batteries with fast charging.

The S25 Ultra has a 6.9-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with Gorilla Armor 2, a 200MP quad-camera system, 12GB RAM, up to 1TB storage, and a 5000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. All models support Wi-Fi 7, 5G, and wireless charging.

Google rolls out Identity Check feature on Android phones: Here’s how to use it

Google has begun the rollout of its new Identity Check feature for Android, starting with Pixel phones running Android 15. Announced last week, this security measure adds an extra layer of protection by requiring biometric verification for access to sensitive device functions when users are outside of their designated trusted locations.

What is Android’s new Identity Check feature?

The core function of Identity Check is to allow users to specify locations they consider safe. When the device is outside of these trusted zones, users will be prompted to authenticate themselves biometrically before accessing certain settings and features. This is designed to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized changes to the device.

Google has outlined the specific actions that will trigger the Identity Check prompt when outside a trusted location. These include managing Google accounts on the device (adding or removing), setting up a new device using the current one, disabling Identity Check itself, viewing or modifying trusted places, disabling Theft Protection features, turning off Find My Device, performing a factory reset, changing biometric data, and accessing passwords and passkeys stored in Google Password Manager, including auto-filling passwords in apps.

Identity Check complements other security features already available on Android, such as Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, and Remote Lock, all aimed at enhancing device security and protecting user data in case of theft or loss.

How to enable Identity Check

Enabling Identity Check on a compatible Pixel phone involves a few steps:

-Users should first ensure their device is running the latest version of Android.
– Then, within the Settings app, go to the Google section, then All Services, and finally Theft Protection. From there, enable the Identity Check feature.

-You will then be prompted to sign into their Google account, set up a lock screen and biometrics if they haven’t already, and then designate their trusted locations.

– Once these steps are completed, the feature will get activated.

The rollout is currently underway for Pixel devices running Android 15. Google has indicated that the feature will be coming to eligible Samsung phones with One UI 7 in the coming weeks, with broader availability for other Android devices expected later this year. While the initial release focuses on Pixel users, the wider rollout will bring this added security measure to a broader range of Android devices in the near future.
