Xiaomi REDMI K80 teased in “Moonlight Blue” color: complete design unveiled

After REDMI K80 Pro, REDMI has officially teased the REDMI K80, highlighting a stunning new color option called “Moonlight Blue.” Set to debut alongside the K80 series at an event on November 27, this model combines sleek design upgrades with enhanced features, including improved ergonomics and premium build quality.

REDMI K80 design and features

The REDMI K80 features 2.5D glass on the front and back, ensuring smoother swipe gestures and a more comfortable grip. The device is paired with a matte metal frame and overall the phone is lighter and thinner than its predecessor. For context, the REDMI K70 is 8.2mm thick and weighs 209g. The successor also achieves a balanced 50:50 weight distribution, promising an exceptional in-hand experience.

In terms of durability, the REDMI K80 is equipped with IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings. Cooling is another focus, with the device employing Dual-loop 3D ice cooling technology to ensure stable performance under heavy usage.

On the front, the phone will also feature a 2K “Grand Slam” display with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, catering to users seeking top-tier screen quality and single tap unlocking.

What else to expect from the REDMI K80

According to a previous leak, the REDMI K80’s camera system includes a 50MP OmniVision OV50 main sensor, alongside an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro camera. On the front, users can expect a 20MP OmniVision OV20B sensor, ensuring sharp and vibrant selfies.

Powering the device will likely be a Si/C high energy density battery, boasting a higher capacity and offering a longer battery life. Last year’s REDMI K70 shipped with a 5000mAh battery and 120W fast charging, so the K80 is expected to match or even exceed this, for a similar or lower charging time.

While the base model offers impressive specs, the REDMI K80 Pro raises the bar with advanced imaging capabilities. It features a triple-camera setup, headlined by a 50MP Sony Light Hunter 800 sensor with OIS, and an additional 50MP telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom. Xiaomi’s AISP 2.0 imaging algorithm powers the camera system, delivering highly detailed photos.

The standard edition is also likely to benefit from these software enhancements.

Is Reno 13 Pro really better than Reno 12 Pro?

Oppo’s Reno series has always been a showcase for innovation in design and cutting-edge features, and the recently launched Reno 13 Pro further builds on the success of the Reno 12 Pro. While both devices target upper midrange smartphone users, the Reno 13 Pro introduces several significant upgrades over its predecessor. Here’s a detailed comparison to understand how the Reno 13 Pro stands apart from the Reno 12 Pro.

Reno 13 Pro

1. Display and Design

The Reno 12 Pro features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with quad-curved edges, offering a resolution of 2412 × 1080 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 1200 nits of peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for durability.

In contrast, the Reno 13 Pro boasts a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 x 1272 pixels, pushing visual quality a notch higher. The 1.5K resolution delivers sharper images and better color reproduction, coupled with 3840Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain. Additionally, the display retains the 120Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits peak brightness but introduces a quad-curved edge design that enhances the premium look and feel.

Both models are lightweight and slim, with the Reno 13 Pro slightly larger and heavier at 197g, compared to the Reno 12 Pro’s 180g. Furthermore, the Reno 13 Pro is equipped with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, making it more resistant to water and dust compared to the Reno 12 Pro’s IP65 rating.

2. Performance

The Reno 12 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Energy SoC, co-developed with Oppo, providing efficient performance for everyday use. It is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The Reno 13 Pro takes a leap forward with the latest MediaTek Dimensity 8350 processor built on a 4nm architecture. This octa-core chip clocks up to 3.35GHz and comes with the Mali-G615 MC6 GPU, ensuring better gaming performance and multitasking. The device also supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage, offering a faster, more seamless user experience. Additionally, the inclusion of Oppo’s X1 chip in the Reno 13 Pro enhances network quality and stability.

3. Camera

The Reno 12 Pro features a 50MP primary camera with the Sony LYT-600 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens. It also has a 50MP front camera, perfect for selfies and video calls.

The Reno 13 Pro improves on this with a 50MP primary camera using the superior Sony IMX890 sensor, which offers better low-light performance and sharper images. It retains the 8MP ultra-wide camera but upgrades the telephoto lens to a 50MP 3.5x periscope camera with enhanced zoom capabilities. The front camera remains the same at 50MP, ensuring high-quality selfies.

4. Battery and Charging

The Reno 12 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, providing quick and reliable power-ups.

The Reno 13 Pro steps up with a larger 5800mAh battery that also supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. Moreover, it introduces 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging, making it the first Reno series device to feature wireless charging capabilities. This addition makes the Reno 13 Pro more versatile and convenient for users who prefer wireless solutions.

5. Software

The Reno 13 Pro ships with Android 15 and ColorOS 15, offering the latest features and optimizations, including advanced multitasking and privacy enhancements. The Reno 12 Pro, while still modern, runs on Android 14 with ColorOS 14.1, and while Oppo promises three years of OS updates, it is still a generation behind the Reno 13 Pro.

6. Conclusion

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro is a substantial upgrade over the Reno 12 Pro in almost every aspect, from the display and performance to the camera and durability. It caters to users who want cutting-edge technology, superior photography features, and better all-around durability. However, if you’re on a budget or already own a Reno 12 Pro, the improvements might not justify the cost of upgrading.

In related news, Oppo has also introduced the Oppo Pad 3 tablet featuring the Dimensity 8350 chipset, an 11.6″ 2.8K 144Hz display, and a 9510mAh battery. Learn more here.

Galaxy S25 Ultra Hands-On Video, Exclusive Colors revealed in massive leak

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra has been revealed in real life for the first time, offering a glimpse at both its refined design and exclusive color options. The latest leaks showcase slight differences from earlier renders, while analyst Ross Young has also revealed three exclusive color options available only through Samsung.

A closer look at the Galaxy S25 Ultra

The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s real-life leak highlights subtle yet important design changes. While early renders depicted the phone with sharp edges, the actual device features slightly rounded edges on the middle frame, maintaining a comfortable in-hand experience. This small adjustment is significant for anyone familiar with phones that have completely sharp edges, as it makes a noticeable difference in daily use.

The camera layout remains largely consistent with previous leaks, reaffirms the leaked Z Fold 6-inspired lens cover design.

Phrases like “Multi-Core Comparison” and “proper bump up in performance” are seen on the screen with the number 9391, which is in line with previously revealed Geekbench listings. On the back, the camera layout is basically the same with a small redesign on the lens cover glasses, which is similar to the Z Fold 6 and reaffirms previous renders.

Exclusive color options:

According to Ross Young, the device will come in three special finishes available directly from Samsung: Titanium Blue/Black, Titanium Jade Green, and Titanium Pink/Silver. A striking orange color was also showcased in renders by Technizo Concept.

Along with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the phone is expected to feature a new 50MP ultrawide (up from 12MP of the predecessors), further enhancing its imaging capabilities. This is also going to be a long-awaited upgrade since several manufacturers have integrated all high-resolution sensors. Samsung has also worked to reduce display edges, with thinner bezels providing a more immersive viewing experience compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Scheduled to debut on January 23, 2025, during a Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will launch alongside the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. Later in the year, Samsung is also expected to introduce the Galaxy S25 Slim, offering another exciting addition to the lineup. As for the pricing, the S25 Ultra could see another $100 price hike as compared to the S24 Ultra, which has already seen a $100 price hike over its predecessor. You can learn more about the reason behind the price hike here.

Xiaomi 15 Pro and Oppo Find X8 Pro both boast premium designs with IP68 ratings for water and dust resistance. Xiaomi edges ahead with its 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display offering a peak brightness of 3200 nits, making it ideal for outdoor visibility. It also supports shatterproof glass for enhanced durability.

Meanwhile, Oppo’s 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel reaches a record-breaking 4500 nits peak brightness, ideal for HDR content but may not see real-world advantages unless paired with ultra-high-brightness scenarios. Both displays are HDR10+ and Dolby Vision certified, ensuring vibrant visuals.

While the Oppo device uses Gorilla Glass 7i for a tougher build, Xiaomi balances its appeal with slightly better display sharpness thanks to its 1440p resolution versus Oppo’s 1264p. Oppo’s design with Hasselblad branding may attract photography enthusiasts, while Xiaomi’s minimalist aesthetics are equally appealing.

If you prefer cutting-edge brightness for HDR content, the Oppo Find X8 Pro has the edge, but Xiaomi’s display sharpness and shatterproof technology make it a strong competitor.

Oppo’s color calibration is excellent, while Xiaomi excels in cinematic video with Dolby Vision HDR and 10-bit LOG support.

For selfies, both phones feature 32MP front cameras, but Xiaomi’s wider aperture may offer better low-light performance. Oppo’s ultra HDR and Hasselblad color calibration give it a creative edge for photography enthusiasts.

Oppo’s dual telephoto lens system gives it the upper hand in zoom versatility, but Xiaomi delivers a better cinematic video experience for content creators.

4. Pricing

The Xiaomi 15 Pro is priced around €690, significantly more affordable than the Oppo Find X8 Pro, which starts at approximately €1,260. Xiaomi offers excellent value for its cutting-edge features, while Oppo positions itself as a premium flagship with industry-leading features like record-breaking display brightness and superior camera versatility.

Galaxy A56 renders reveal a surprising redesign

Samsung‘s upcoming Galaxy A56 has been revealed through CAD-based renders, showcasing a bold new design for the A5x series. While still unmistakably a Samsung device, the renders highlight a significant departure from its predecessor, the Galaxy A55, especially in the camera design.

Galaxy-A56-design-render

A fresh look for the Galaxy A56

The most striking change is the redesigned camera island. Unlike the individual mini-islands seen in previous A-series models, the Galaxy A56 opts for a larger, black, pill-shaped module that houses all three cameras. This change not only provides a distinct look but also adds a notable camera bump, which appears more prominent compared to the Galaxy A55.

Additionally, the bottom bezel seems slightly slimmer, contributing to a more refined appearance. Another key design update is the “Key Island,” the raised middle frame portion containing the power button and volume rocker, which now features a flatter aesthetic. Overall, the Galaxy A56 seems to be stepping away from the typical A-series design language, embracing a bolder identity that sets it apart from Samsung’s premium S-series phones.

This move appears intentional, as its A-series devices resemble its flagship lineup too closely. If recent Galaxy S25 leaks prove accurate, the S-series will retain the individual camera module design, further emphasizing the differentiation between the mid-range and premium categories.

However, it’s important to note that these renders may not fully capture the final design details.

What else to expect from the Galaxy A56?

Beyond its revamped look, the Galaxy A56 is shaping up to be a solid mid-range contender with several notable upgrades. According to earlier leaks, the phone will feature a 12MP selfie camera, reportedly with improved performance over its predecessor. It will also support 45W wired charging, a significant upgrade from the 25W charging found in most A-series models, ensuring faster recharges.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A56 is rumored to debut with the Exynos 1580 chipset, delivering performance comparable to the flagship Snapdragon 888 that powered the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This is supported by Geekbench results, which show competitive scores for the new SoC.

The Galaxy A56 is expected to launch in March 2025, following the A55’s release cycle. With its revamped design, enhanced hardware, and promising specifications, Samsung seems intent on making the Galaxy A56 a standout device in its segment.

Photography lovers will appreciate the Xiaomi 15’s superior versatility and advanced Leica optics. This is a substantial improvement for users looking for professional-grade images and videos.

4. Pricing

The Xiaomi 15 is priced at approximately €590, positioning it as a flagship compared to the Xiaomi 12’s budget-friendly €305. While the Xiaomi 15’s price may seem steep, it reflects significant advancements in display, performance, and camera features.

The Xiaomi 15 justifies its higher price with premium enhancements, but budget-conscious users may still find the Xiaomi 12 an excellent value for its solid performance.

5. Conclusion

Xiaomi reportedly developing a 7000mAh midrange phone with Snapdragon 8s Elite

In a recent leak from the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a mid-range smartphone with a monstrous 7000mAh battery. This upcoming device is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite/8s Gen 4 (SM8735).

Xiaomi battery

The Snapdragon 8s Elite (tentative naming), the successor to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, will be designed to offer a compelling balance of power and energy consumption. While it may not reach the peak performance of flagship chipsets, it’s expected to deliver significant improvements over its predecessor. The chipset will also be a lot cheaper than its flagship counterpart.

Xiaomi 7000mah battery leak

To complement the massive 7000mAh battery, Xiaomi is reportedly equipping this device with 90W wired fast charging. While this might not be the fastest charging solution on the market, it should be sufficient to rapidly replenish the large battery. Unfortunately, wireless charging may be absent from this model.

This isn’t the first time it has surfaced; earlier this year, Digital Chat Station revealed that Xiaomi is testing various battery and charging configurations, including options with up to 7,500mAh capacity and 100W charging.

The exact model number and branding of the device are still unknown, but speculation points toward Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup. It could potentially be the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro or Redmi K90, as the model number “SM8735” was spotted in the HyperOS software earlier this year. However, it’s important to note that these are just rumors at this stage.

Meanwhile, Redmi is launching the K80 series in China on November 27 with up to 6500mAh battery and 120W fast charging. The lineup features two models: the K80 and K80 Pro. Both phones sport a premium 2K AMOLED display with 1800 nits peak brightness, TÜV Rheinland eye protection, and advanced visual health features.

The K80 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with Oryon cores and includes a 50MP triple-camera setup with optical zoom, while the K80 features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and a 50MP main camera. Additional highlights include IP68/IP69 durability and a premium design with Dragon Crystal Glass and ultrasonic fingerprint sensors.

The only Apple device on this list and also a returning name is the iPhone SE (3rd Gen), which was released back in 2022. It is also a great option for those that need a very small phone since it has a tiny 4.7-inch display. This model is on sale as well and can easily be purchased for under $300. It doesn’t have any of the latest features from the new iPhones, but it gets the job done.
