Realme 13 Pro series design teased: 3 color options & vegan leather confirmed

An official teaser has showcased the design of the upcoming Realme 13 Pro series. The new smartphones are set to launch in India soon, but ahead of its announcement, its color options and rear design has been revealed. There are three colors to pick from, and one features vegan leather.

Realme 13 Pro Series Design & Colors

The Chinese brand took to X (formerly Twitter) to show off the Realme 13 Pro series. Realme has been teased in multiple color options, namely Monet Gold, Monet Purple, and Emerald Green. It is worth noting that the Emerald Green is the variant that offers vegan leather material on the rear. For the design of the Realme 13 Pro series, the company has partnered with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) for a well crafted design that is inspired by Monet masterpieces.

The brand incorporates light and shadow that reflect the design captured by Monet. Realme 13 Pro series’ rear panel uses AG glass that has shimmering particles to reproduce the dynamic light reflection. This enables the shimmering light and shadow effect. The back also houses a large circular camera island that the company calls Sunrise Halo design. It has a 360 degree luxury watch-level texture surrounding the camera module.

Another recent teaser revealed the dual camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel Sony LYT 701 primary sensor (first in the world) and a 50-megapixel Sony LYT 600 periscope telephoto shooter. Realme employs key AI features of HYPERIMAGE+ that promise to improve image clarity and dynamic range. The company is rumored to launch the Realme 13 Pro and Realme 13 Pro+ in India later this month. Fresh teasers and reports should surface soon, so stay tuned for more as we will be providing more updates.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 official color option leaks months before official launch

With Google‘s hardware event scheduled for August 13th, leaks are starting to surface about what to expect. While the focus will likely be on the Pixel 9 family and the Pixel Watch 3, a new leak suggests there might be another product joining the lineup: the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

The leak from usually reliable Dylan Roussel suggests that the Buds Pro 2 will come in four color options: Raspberry, Mojito, Porcelain, and Haze. The original Pixel Buds Pro was launched in 2022, so a refresh this year seems likely.

GOogle Pixel Buds Pro 2 color options leak

The “Raspberry” color is particularly interesting as it resembles the rumored pink colorway for the Pixel 9. The “Mojito” color is a light sage green, while “Porcelain” and “Haze” are more neutral options.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 has also received UL Demko and Safety Korea certifications with the model number GH8tQ. The former certification reveals that the case has a Li-ion battery capacity of 650mAh, a slight upgrade from the 620mAh of the Pixel Buds Pro.

Google rates 31 hours of playback with ANC disabled on the original earphones, so we can expect a few more hours with the new model. The Safety Korea regulatory filing also includes a live image of the charging case battery unit.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much more known about the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2. So, let’s quickly review what the existing Buds Pro offers.

Pixel Buds Pro Specifications

The Pixel Buds Pro features a custom-made six-core audio processor and supports ANC for an interrupted listening experience. Google has fitted the buds with dedicated sensors that measure the pressure in your ear canal so the earbuds can actively relieve it and stay comfortable.

The Pixel Buds Pro also offers seamless switching between commonly used Android devices without the need to access the Bluetooth menu. The buds can also be connected to two audio sources at once.

Moreover, they offer a run-time of up to 7 hours with ANC active, and with the feature turned off, users can enjoy playback of up to 11 hours without the need to put it in the charging case. The earbuds offer wireless and quick charging and can last for up to one hour by charging only for 5 minutes. Lastly, the earbuds have an IPX4 splash-resistant rating while the case is rated for IPX2 water resistance.

Redmi K70 Ultra offers the slimmest bottom bezel in the brand’s history

Redmi officially announced the K70 Ultra yesterday, which will be released this month. Official images of the phone in the new “Ice Glass” Color Option have already revealed some design changes. In a separate teaser, the company has also revealed some of the display parameters of the new phone.

Redmi K70 Ultra’s 1.7mm bezel looks narrower than the predecessor

In line with previous rumors, the phone equips a 1.5K new generation display panel. According to the image shared by the company, the phone will have a 1.7mm ultra-narrow bezel on top and two sides, which looks slimmer as compared to the predecessor. The bottom bezel is slightly thicker and is measured at 1.9mm. You can see the difference in the images above. The bottom bezel is reportedly the narrowest in the brand’s history.

Notably, the display equips a flat design just like its predecessor. Wang Teng, general manager of the Redmi brand, said talked about the advantages of the flat design of the K series. He says that it has neither blind spots in the field of vision, nor it will suffer from accidental touches when the buttons are used. He also mentioned that the flat design is more useful when it comes to gaming.

The official revealed earlier that the phone equips a C8+ display panel jointly developed by Xiaomi and TCL Huaxing. The panel also offers 3840 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming when the brightness is below 60 nits and DC dimming above that. With all of these, the panel is projected to be eye-safe, especially when it comes to using the phone in low-light conditions.

For performance, the phone packs the Dimensity 9300+ chipset and a newly designed cooling system (known as 3D ICE cooling system), which reportedly enables the phone to 120fps in games like Genshin Impact. In addition to the Dimensity chipset, the phone also packs an independent graphics D1 chip.

itel Color Pro Display & Chip leaked: Dimensity 6080 & 6.6″ LCD panel

A recent teaser and report revealed that the itel Color Pro is in the works with a special design on the back. Now, a fresh leak has confirmed more details regarding its hardware as well. We have information regarding the processor that powers this device and its display specs.

itel Color Pro Leak

Sources close to the matter shared the details with MySmartPrice. Previous teasers confirmed that the itel Color Pro packs a color changing rear panel dubbed the IVCO technology at the back. But the details of the display on the front were still unknown. However, the sources have claimed that the upcoming smartphone will sport a 6.6-inch LCD panel. This screen has a water drop notch for the selfie camera and offers an HD+ resolution.

itel Color Pro 5G
Itel Color Pro Teaser with IVCO tech

The specs are in line with our expectations of the itel Color Pro being a budget mid range model. It is rumored to launch under the 15,000 INR price range. Under the hood, the new handset will reportedly be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, which is a 5G enabled chipset. This is an octa core processor that is based on the 6nm process, having two Cortex A76 cores, sixe Cortex A5 cores, and a Mali G67 GPU. itel plans to debut the phone with NRCA (5G+++) for improved connectivity and speeds.

To recall, this is the same chipset that powers the Redmi Note 13 5G. Based on what we know so far, promo posters have confirmed the color changing rear design along with a dual camera setup at the back. Unfortunately, other key specs like its battery, storage configurations, and more are still unclear. The brand is expected to launch the itel Color Pro at the end of this month, so stick around for more updates.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 don’t support Android seamless update

Samsung‘s latest foldable flagships, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, boast impressive specs and innovative features like on-device generative AI. However, these premium devices don’t seem to include a feature that’s become increasingly common on Android phones: seamless updates.

Introduced by Google nearly a decade ago, seamless updates allow Android phones to download and install updates in the background, minimizing downtime. Users can continue using their phones uninterrupted while the update installs on a separate system partition.

In contrast, traditional updates require a full reboot, locking users out of their devices for several minutes. While this might not be a dealbreaker for everyone, seamless updates offer a smoother experience, especially for those who frequently update their phones with security patches.

Samsung’s Galaxy A55, released earlier in 2024, was the first Samsung phone to adopt seamless updates, raising hopes that this feature would become standard across the company’s lineup. However, initial tests by SamMobile using developer tools suggest the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 lack this support.

Missing seamless updates from the factory likely means it won’t be added later. Implementing seamless updates requires a dual-partition system layout, and modifying this on existing devices can lead to stability issues – a risk Samsung likely won’t take.

The culprit behind this omission might be software size. Flagship Galaxy devices tend to have bloated software compared to mid-range counterparts.

The A55’s firmware reportedly weighs in at around 8GB, while the Z Fold 5 and S24 Ultra have firmware sizes of 14GB and 16GB, respectively. This additional software may simply not leave enough space for a dedicated update partition on the Fold 6 and Flip 6.

With a commitment to seven years of software updates, users can expect numerous firmware downloads for the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. While these updates will bring security patches and bug fixes, they will unfortunately require the traditional reboot process, interrupting use for a few minutes each time.

CMF Phone 1 Accessories: Customization Options and Their Quirks

The CMF Phone 1 from Nothing’s sub-brand has finally arrived, with a unique back design that allows for customization with color panels. But the innovation doesn’t stop there. CMF has released a complementary range of accessories designed to enhance the phone’s usability and cater to various user preferences. Let’s delve into each accessory and see if they might be a worthwhile addition to your CMF Phone 1 experience.

1. CMF Replaceable Back Covers

CMF Phone 1

The cornerstone of the CMF Phone 1’s accessory lineup is the selection of replaceable back panels. These come in four distinct color options: Black, Light Green, Orange, and Blue. Each color complements the phone’s overall aesthetic, and CMF even includes matching wallpapers to further personalize the look.

The Black and Light Green back panels feature a matte plastic finish, offering a sleek and contemporary feel. For those who prefer a touch of texture, the Orange and Blue back panels come in a vegan leather finish, adding a premium look and comfortable grip.

CMF has thoughtfully included matching SIM trays, rotating dials, and even screws with each new back panel you purchase to maintain the phone’s overall aesthetic. You can even mix and match these components to customize the Phone 1 to give it a look of your own.

Changing the back panels is a fairly simple business — remove the rotating dial and screws, snap off the existing back cover, place the new one, and refit the components.

2. CMF Card Holder

The cardholder accessory promises convenient on-the-go storage for cards and cash. Similar to MagSafe wallets for iPhones, the CMF Card Case attaches to the phone’s back. However, there’s a crucial difference.

Neither the phone nor the card case itself has built-in magnets. To create a magnetic attachment point, you’ll need to screw a separate magnetic plate onto the phone’s back, which is included with the case. Attaching it reportedly requires longer screws which might add bulk to the phone and affect its comfortable handling.

The positive aspect is that the magnets are strong, ensuring the card case stays securely attached. The case itself is constructed from plastic with a soft, leather-like finish on the back. It also features a magnetic lid for added security. While the case offers functionality, future accessories that leverage the magnetic back plate more seamlessly would be a welcome addition.

3. CMF Lanyard Cable

The lanyard cable is an interesting accessory catering to a specific user group. It consists of two parts: a long, neon orange (the sole color option) rope and a contraption that allows you to adjust its length. While “cable” might be a misleading term, it essentially functions as a wearable strap for your phone.

This accessory can be particularly appealing to those purchasing the CMF Phone 1 for parents or individuals who tend to misplace their phones frequently. The lanyard minimizes the risk of losing your phone as long as it’s worn around your neck or shoulder.

4. CMF Phone Stand

CMF Phone 1

The CMF Phone Stand is probably the most useful accessory in the lineup, at least it is to me. It’s a collapsible stand with a circular dial at the end that screws into the phone’s back panel for secure attachment. The stand is made of plastic, though like the lanyard, it’s also available in the sole bright orange color.

Given the effort put into the phone’s design and aesthetics, I wish CMF had created stands and lanyards in colors matching the back covers. Personally, I prefer more subtle designs that blend in rather than stand out. While the Phone 1 itself is flashy, having matching accessories would help it blend in more seamlessly.

Back to the functionality, the stand offers rotation for portrait and landscape viewing modes. Additionally, it can be used simultaneously with the card case accessory, as the back plate has enough space to accommodate both attachments comfortably. Similar to the lanyard cable, attaching the stand requires screwing in the base after removing the dial from the phone’s back.

5. Print your own accessory

All my wishes for a matching lanyard, stand, or another attachment in place of the card case can come true, as these are separate accessories that should be easy for case makers to produce.

In fact, Spigen seems already interested in creating accessories for the CMF Phone 1. Additionally, a user on X has made a rough version of a camera grip. While we are not sure how useful this will be since the camera isn’t the phone’s strongest feature, it shows the potential for customization thanks to its modularity.

Nothing has also released documentation with all the necessary details that allow you to 3D print your own back covers. You can learn more about it here.

6. Conclusion

The CMF Phone 1 teasers with all their talk of cool accessories and a modular design had me thinking this could be a neat tinkering project. And after seeing it all in action, I still believe that!

For instance, you could create a lens attachment holder that screws onto the accessory point, with a cutout to accommodate various clip-on lenses. Or you could design a bike mount. The possibilities are endless.

All in all, it’s super impressive what Nothing has managed to achieve with the CMF Phone 1, given its budget price range. The phone doesn’t compromise much in terms of specifications—it’s on par with other phones in its price range. Plus, you have the option to change the phone’s design or expand its functionality.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition unveiled: New variant with exclusive services

Alongside the standard Galaxy Z Flip 6, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition during the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris. The device arrives with a special design and exclusive services ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition: What’s so special?

But putting aside the design, it has identical hardware to the standard Galaxy Z Flip 6. This phone was exclusively designed for all the athletes who are competing at the upcoming Olympic and Paralympics. So it will not be sold to the general public. It is not just a pretty version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and actually serves a special purpose as well. Samsung packs the device with a bunch of useful apps as well as exclusive services.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Olympic Edition

The Olympians and Paralympians get access to Athlete 365, 6 Olympic Shop, Paris 2024, Transport Accred App, and IOC hotline. Redmi K70 Ultra equips a unique cooling solution for the best possible performance

Soon after the official announcement of the Redmi K70 Ultra, Wang Teng, Xiaomi China’s Vice President of Marketing and General Manager of the Redmi brand, started sharing more information about the device.

The official claimed that the K70 Ultra ranks first in Android in comprehensive performance. According to the official poster, the phones achieves an AnTuTu score of 2,382,780 points. In addition to that, he also claimed that the actual gaming performance of the phone is “far better than expected”.

Redmi has reportedly cooperated with MediaTek to make the most of the chipset with their new phone. It is said to be the “deepest” cooperation in the industry, which will create a “stronger” Dimensity 9300+. However, we will need to test the device ourselves before making any conclusions about its performance.

The phone also boasts an improved cooling system

Wang Teng also revealed that the K70 Ultra will be equipped with a new generation of 3D ice cooling technology, that uses an innovative concave-convex platform design. The convex surface is closer to the processor, which reduces the SoC core temperature by up to 3°C compared to the Redmi K60 Ultra. You may have noticed that the screen also gets warmer when the phone deals with heavy workloads. The upcoming device has a solution for this too. The concave surface of the heatsink is far away from the screen, which reportedly results in a lower screen temperature.

With the Dimensity 9300+ chipset paired with the new cooling system, the phone reportedly has 120fps gameplay of Genshin Impact and is able to handle two games at the same time. With all of these, the phone is claimed to have the strongest gaming performance in its competition.

Referring to previously revealed information, the phone also packs a D1 independent graphics chip for better performance and optimal use of resources. It packs a 1.5K display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 5,500mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging. On the outside, the phone packs a metal middle frame and glass back cover. The camera module comes with a slightly different design, which you can check out from here.

Galaxy Buds 3 / Buds 3 Pro launched with a revamped design and LED light strip

Samsung launched the redesigned Galaxy Buds 3 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10 along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Watch 7 series.

The Galaxy Buds 3 series includes two different models with a slightly different design and price tag – the Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. Let’s discuss the new earphones one by one.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 3

The standard Galaxy Buds 3 comes with an open-type design and has a one-way 11mm dynamic driver. The dimension of the product is 18.1 x 20.4 x 31.9 mm. Speaking of weight, the earbuds and the charging case is 4.7 g and 46.5 g respectively.

As expected, the Buds 3 offers ANC functionality (Active Noise Cancellation) and equips a total of 3 Mics + VPU (Voice Pickup Unit) to identify the surrounding sound and automatically adjust the optimal level of noise and sound.

This pair of earbuds supports 24bit Hi-Fi audio and 360 Audio with Direct Multi-Channel.

The earbuds and the case pack 48mAh and 515mAh capacity respectively. When it comes to battery life, the earbuds can offer 5 hours of battery life with ANC turned on. With the charging case, Buds 3 offers a total battery life of 24 hours.

For connectivity, the TWS earphone packs Bluetooth 5.4 and supports Auto Switch for ease of use. For effective yet efficient audio transmission the earbuds support the following codecs – SSC(Samsung Seamless
Codec) HiFi, SSC UHQ (Samsung Proprietary), AAC, SBC. Speaking of ingress protection, the product is IP57 dust and water-resistant.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

A lot of the aspects are common between the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. However, the Buds 3 Pro comes with an in-ear type design and offers better audio quality with a 10.5mm Dynamic driver and an additional 6.1mm planar.

The earbuds are slightly heavier at 5.4g while the charging case weighs the same as the standard model. Buds 3 Pro packs a larger 53mAh battery. Speaking of ANC, the Buds 3 Pro also offers Ambient sound and Voice Detect for an even better listening experience. As you can see from the image, the Pro model also packs LED strips to inform you about the charging state and more.

Xiaomi 15 Pro reportedly features 5x periscope zoom camera

Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 15 series of smartphones in October of this year in China. With several months remaining before the launch, the rumor mill is gradually leaking details about the Xiaomi 15 lineup. The latest leak, courtesy of reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, reveals that the 15 Pro will offer a major upgrade in the optical zoom department.

Xiaomi 15 Pro may feature a new periscope telephoto camera

According to the tipster, Xiaomi is switching to a periscope telephoto lens with the IMX8 sensor, offering 5x optical zoom on the engineering prototype of the Xiaomi 15 Pro. He added that it will support the latest AI super-resolution algorithms.

To recall, the Xiaomi 14 Pro does not feature a periscope telephoto camera. It has a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 telephoto camera that offers a 3.2x optical zoom. Hence, the 15 Pro is expected to deliver significantly better zoom capabilities.

A previous leak by the tipster revealed that the Xiaomi 15 Pro will have a 50-megapixel main camera. It could potentially feature the OV50K OmniVision 50-megapixel primary camera.

While the previous model supported variable aperture for its primary camera, we expect the 15 Pro to not support it. The rumor mill is yet to leak the details of the 15 Pro’s ultra-wide camera. It is likely that it will continue to feature a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, like the 14 Pro.

As per other reports, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will have a 6.73-inch micro-curved OLED panel that offers a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-powered smartphone packs a 5,400mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
