Before proceeding, readers should be aware that Oppo has not officially confirmed the specifications of the global Reno 12 series. The comparison presented here is based solely on the rumored specifications of the global versions.

The Oppo Reno 12 (China) and Reno 12 (Global) share similarities in their displays, both featuring a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1200 nits of brightness. However, the global variant specifies Corning Gorilla Glass 7 protection, whereas the Chinese version doesn’t specify glass protection. The global Reno 12 will have a dual-side curved display, whereas the Chinese variant is equipped with a micro quad-curved screen.

The leaked images of the global versions show that their design will be very similar to the Chinese counterparts. The global version is likely to measure 161.38 x 74.14 x 7.57 mm and weigh 178 grams, while the Chinese variant measures 161.4 x 74.8 x 7.25mm and weighs 179 grams. Xiaomi 15 Pro camera specs tipped: triple camera setup with OmniVision OV50K primary sensor

Now that Xiaomi has launched its Xiaomi 14 Ultra, it is fair to say that Xiaomi might be moving on to the Xiaomi 15 lineup. The brand should debut these phones within a month or so from the launch of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processors. While there have been some reports about the Xiaomi 15 series, we know very little about these upcoming devices.

Xiaomi 14 Android 15 Beta

That being said, Weibo blogger @体验more has shared the alleged camera specifications of the Xiaomi 15 Pro. As per the tipster, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will boast a triple-camera system with a powerful 50MP main sensor (likely the OV50K) utilizing innovative TheiaCel technology for superior low-light performance and dynamic range.

The telephoto lens will use a 50MP IMX882 sensor, offering a slight resolution downgrade compared to the OV64B when digitally zoomed. However, it promises better power efficiency and a noticeable improvement in zoom capabilities over the previous generation.

The highlight is the main sensor. The OV50K boasts a large 1/1.3-inch format and 1.2-micron pixels for exceptional light capture. It supports features like 4-in-1 pixel binning for improved low-light performance, high frame rates, and even 8K video recording. This sensor is already present in devices like the Honor Magic 6 Pro.

Earlier reports also suggest that we might see a camera module redesign with a square layout. The display onboard the Xiaomi 15 Pro is expected to provide 2K resolution with a micro-curved design. As for the processor, the device is expected to debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip.

On the topic of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, this upcoming chip is said to come with some amazing improvements over its predecessor. As per reports, the performance core of the SoC can run up to 4.2GHz. Additionally, the chip is said to break 3,000 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multi-core tests on Geekbench. All that said, this new chip will also be quite pricy as reports claim that Chinese brands will likely struggle to keep costs down, and there likely won’t be any room for an affordable performance flagship rocking the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

The leak further states that the brand will offer a free pair of TWS earbuds worth €99 with Honor Portrait Box bundle in some European countries. It appears that the Honor 200 and 200 Pro heading to the global market will have the same specifications as their Chinese counterparts.

Honor 200, 200 Pro specifications

The Honor 200 and 200 Pro smartphones share similar design aesthetics and high-end specifications. Both devices feature expansive 6.7-inch quad-curved OLED displays with impressive resolutions of 2664 x 1200 pixels for the Honor 200 and 2700 x 1224 pixels for the Pro variant. These displays offer a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz PWM dimming, and a peak brightness of 4000 nits, ensuring vibrant visuals and smooth user experiences.

Under the hood, the Honor 200 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, while the Pro variant steps up to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. Both devices pack a 5,200mAh battery with 100W charging support. The Pro model also supports 66W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

On the front, Honor 200 has a 50-megapixel selfie camera, while the Pro variant adds a 3D depth sensor. On the back, the Honor 200’s triple camera setup features a 50-megapixel Sony IMX906 main sensor with OIS support, whereas the Pro variant has an OmniVision OV50H main camera with OIS support. Both phones have a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera that doubles up as a macro camera and a 50-megapixel IMX856 telephoto lens with 2.5x optical zoom and OIS support.

Additional features across both models include in-screen fingerprint scanners, dual speakers, IR blasters, NFC connectivity, and Android 14 with MagicOS 8.0. Lastly, the Honor 200 Pro variant distinguishes itself with an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.

Oppo Find X8 may arrive with telephoto macro camera, 5,000mAh+ battery

Oppo is expected to announce the Find X8 in October of this year. The Find X8 Ultra, on the other hand, is likely to break cover in Q1 2025. With few months remaining for the launch, the rumor mill is gradually leaking details about the Find X8 series. A new leak, courtesy of tipster Smart Pikachu, has shed some information about the X8’s telephoto camera and battery size.

Oppo Find X8 telephoto macro camera, battery size leak

According to the leaker, Oppo is experimenting with a telephoto macro lens for the Find X8 series. While a telephoto camera can be used to capture clearer shots of far-away objects, a telephoto macro camera combines the capabilities of a telephoto lens with those of a macro lens to capture clearer images of distant subjects and very small, close-up objects.

When he was asked about the battery size of the Find X8, he responded by saying that it would be 5,000mAh+. This indicates that the size could be anywhere between 5,100mAh to 5,500mAh. Previous reports have revealed that the Find X8 will debut with the Dimensity 9400 chipset, which utilizes TSMC’s cutting-edge second-generation 3nm N3E process.

As far as configuration is concerned, the D9400 chip is expected to have one Cortex-X5 super core clocked at 3.4GHz, three Cortex-X4 super cores, and four Cortex-A7 series large cores. The new chipset is expected to offer substantial enhancements over its predecessor, including a 34 percent reduction in power consumption at the same speed and complexity, an 18 percent increase in performance at the same power and complexity.

The Find X8 Ultra is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. There are rumors about a third model, which is tentatively dubbed the Find X8 Pro. At present, there is no concrete evidence of its existence.

Microsoft Unveils White Xbox Series X Alongside New Storage Options

Microsoft has officially revealed a white version of the Xbox Series X, targeting fans who prefer a lighter aesthetic for their console. This new model ditches the disc drive, making it a fully digital experience, but maintains the same powerful performance as the original Xbox Series X for existing Xbox games. Let’s be honest, black is classy but white looks clean.

Microsoft is also offering a whole new white version of the Xbox series S.

The white Xbox Series X boasts 1TB of storage and is slated for release later this year with a price tag of $449.99. This announcement comes alongside the reveal of a special edition 2TB “Galaxy Black” version of the original Xbox Series X, priced at $599.99. For budget-conscious gamers, Microsoft is also offering a new white version of the Xbox Series S, their smaller $299 console, with 1TB of storage priced at $349.99.

The white exterior of the new Xbox Series X matches the “robot white” color scheme of the Xbox Series S. While leaks suggested Microsoft might have upgraded the cooling system for this white model, official confirmation will likely have to wait for console teardowns.

Also, the white Xbox Series X seemingly confirms the cancellation or delay of a previously rumored refreshed version of the console codenamed “Brooklin.” Leaked details described the Brooklin as a more cylindrical design, lacking a disc drive, and marketed as “adorably all digital.” The planned launch for Brooklin was supposedly November of this year with a price tag of $499 and a bundled new controller with Xbox Wireless 2 connectivity.

Last September, Xbox chief Phil Spencer acknowledged leaks about the refreshed Xbox Series X design, hinting at potential changes in their hardware roadmap. “It is hard to see our team’s work shared in this way because so much has changed and there’s so much to be excited about right now, and in the future,” Spencer stated. “We will share the real plans when we are ready.”

Microsoft’s official announcement puts these rumors to rest, offering a white Xbox Series X alongside storage upgrades for both the standard and special edition models.

Ming-Chi Kuo on iOS 18: Advanced AI features may not arrive at launch

Just before the WWDC24 event, industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shares his thoughts about iOS 18 and Apple’s other developments that the company is about to announce in the upcoming event. We have been hearing about the company working on AI features for future Apple devices. Kuo reaffirms that the company is about to announce a number of AI features. The WWDC24 keynote session will start at 10:30 PM IST on June 10 (today).

iOS 18 AI Features

Kuo believes that Apple will integrate powerful functions into all aspects of iOS 18 and its system applications. The company’s AI assistant, Siri, will receive a major upgrade, as we have previously reported. However, Kuo notes that the capabilities of the on-device AI functions will be limited due to the 8GB memory size being insufficient for the large language model. For those unaware, Apple will combine local and server-side LLM for the AI features.

Server-side AI features could be rolled out later in phases

Notably, Kuro does not consider Apple’s AI development to be a breakthrough achievement in the field. However, he expects that Apple’s heavy investment in machine learning and artificial intelligence in recent years will pay off in the future. According to his research, the shipment volume of the iPhone 16 series in Q2 2024 may be slightly lower than the same period last year.

The server-side LLMs also take longer to train as compared to the smaller on-device models. According to Kuo, the more advanced server-dependent features could be rolled out later in phases rather than being fully launched with the iPhone 16 series. Reportedly, the more advanced AI features will also be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models alongside the iPhone 16 series and above.

We have already heard about Apple’s deal with OpenAI and Google for the server-side AI features. However, Kuo downplayed the importance of partnerships with other companies regarding AI. He believes that Apple’s cooperation will mainly focus on the “encapsulation model” of user and application interaction.

He concluded that after WWDC24 Apple will no longer be seen as a company that is lagging behind others in the AI race.

Xiaomi 15 Pro camera sensors revealed in a new leak

A leak from Chinese microblogging site Weibo has revealed the camera specifications of Xiaomi‘s upcoming Pro flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

Xiaomi 14 Android 15 Beta
Xiaomi 14 Pro

OV50K main and IMX882 telephoto

The phone will offer 3x 50MP cameras on the back, just as the Xiaomi 14 Pro. The phone will use the OV50K as the main sensor, IMX882 for 3x telephoto.

The OV50K is said to be a 1″ sensor. In comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Pro offered a slightly smaller 1/1.31″ image sensor. There is not much information available about this sensor. However, the manufacturer has recently launched a smaller (1/1.31″) version of the sensor named the OV50K40, which according to the company, harnesses the capabilities of lateral overflow integration capacitors (LOFIC) to provide the best-in-class single-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) regardless of lighting conditions. It reportedly achieves human eye-level HDR with single exposure in standard mode.

According to the leaker, the telephoto sensor performs comparatively worse than the OV64b when it comes to clarity in digital zooming. However, he notes that the power consumption is very good. The Xiaomi 14 Pro uses a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor for its 3.2x telephoto. Compared to the predecessor, the switching to the telephoto has reportedly improved. The aperture of the telephoto will also play an important role.

According to previous rumors, the Xiaomi 15 Pro will also come with a square-shaped camera module in the upper left corner. However, the flash will be placed outside the camera island. This could be due to a lack of space. In front of the sensors there could also be improved lenses.

On the front, the phone will equip a 2K micro-curved screen. The phone is expected to be launched around mid-October and will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Although information about the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series is scarce at this point, we will share more as it becomes available.

Anker recalls popular power bank model due to potential fire risk

Anker, a leading name in mobile accessories, is recalling a specific model of its portable power bank due to a potential fire hazard. The affected product is the Anker 321 Portable Power Bank (PowerCore 5K, Model A1112), manufactured after March 2023.

Anker 321 Portable Power Bank

Anker Initiates Urgent Recall of Portable Power Banks

According to Anker, a manufacturing defect could cause the lithium-ion battery in these power banks to overheat. This overheating poses a serious safety risk, potentially leading to the melting of the device’s plastic components, smoke emissions, or even fire.

While Anker assures consumers that only a limited batch of power banks produced after March are affected, the company is taking a proactive approach by recalling all units of this model.

If you own an Anker 321 Power Bank, it’s crucial to verify if yours falls under the recall category. You can check the white label on the bottom of the device. It should display “Anker 321 Power Bank (PowerCore 5K, Black), Model: A1112” if your unit is part of the recall. Anker strongly urges users to immediately stop using the power bank if it matches this description.

Anker has set up a dedicated webpage to handle the recall. Consumers can visit the page to verify their power bank’s serial number and confirm if it falls under the recall. If confirmed, Anker offers a free replacement with the Anker 533 Portable Power Bank. To expedite the replacement process, Anker recommends having your proof of purchase readily available when filling out the online form.

Anker reminds users that proper disposal of old batteries is crucial. Throwing them away in regular trash cans or recycling bins can be hazardous to the environment and pose fire risks. Anker’s website provides information on responsible battery disposal methods specific to different regions.

This incident serves as a reminder for consumers to be cautious when using portable power banks. Always ensure you purchase these devices from reputable brands and authorized retailers. When selecting a power bank, look for certifications from well-regarded organizations that ensure safety standards are met. Regularly inspect your power bank for any signs of damage and avoid using any device that appears faulty.

Xiaomi’s upcoming 25000mAh power bank offers fast charging up to 212W

Xiaomi appears to be gearing up to release a new power bank with a bold design and enough juice to keep your devices going for days. The power bank’s images have surfaced online via a Weibo tipster, showing it off with a see-through front panel that reveals its inner workings.

The design bears similarities to Xiaomi’s subsidiary brand, CUKTECH’s CUKTECH 20 power bank. Even leaked specs of Xiaomi’s charger align closely with those of CUKTECH’s offering. Both have a 25,000mAh capacity, three ports (two USB-C and one USB-A), and a front color display.

However, Xiaomi’s version might offer a slight upgrade in terms of power delivery, as it’s leaked to support up to 212W fast charging compared to the CUKTECH 20’s 210W.

The leak also details the capabilities of each port. The first USB-C port can deliver up to 140W, the second provides 45W, and the USB-A port supports up to 120W fast charging. With this kind of power, the bank should be able to charge even large laptops like the MacBook Pro 16.

Another noteworthy detail is the mention of a 90.08 Wh rating in one of the leaked images. This ensures the power bank is compliant with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations, making it a travel-friendly companion for keeping your devices charged on the go.

Although details on pricing and availability are yet to be revealed, the CUKTECH 20 might offer a possible benchmark. It’s available for purchase at $129.99, so we can expect Xiaomi’s power bank to be priced in a comparable range if and when it launches globally.

The leak suggests Xiaomi’s new power bank will be powerful and visually distinct, with high capacity, multiple ports, and impressive fast-charging capabilities.

Indian electronics brand Boat has just added a new entry into the Airdopes lineup with the launch of the Airdopes Atom 81 Pro earbuds. These new earbuds lack silicone tips, which have some advantages and drawbacks.

Boat Airdopes Atom 81 Pro

Firstly, these earbuds provide a comfortable fit with no pressure or irritation in your ear canal. Additionally, since there is better airflow, they do not trap moisture inside. However, since they don’t create a seal in your ear, it could lead to sound leakage. With all that out of the way, let’s look at the specifications.

Boat Airdopes Atom 81 Pro specs:

The Airdopes Atom 81 Pro features 13mm drivers for the signature boAt sound and Quad mics with ENxTM technology for clear phone calls. One of its key features is the Beat Mode, which provides 50ms low latency, perfect for gamers needing synchronous audio with their visuals.

For those always on the move, the earbuds offer an impressive 100 hours of playback time. With the ASAP charge technology, a quick 5-minute charge gives users 100 minutes of playback, facilitated by a Type-C charging port.

These earbuds support Bluetooth 5.1 and incorporate IWP (Instant Wake and Pair) technology, which speeds up the device pairing process. They are also IPX5 rated, making them resistant to sweat and splashes, suitable for use during workouts and other outdoor activities.

Pricing & availability

The Boat Airdopes Atom 81 Pro earbuds are now available on Amazon at a launch price of ₹999 and come in three colors: Ivory Elegance, Obsidian Noir, and Slate Fusion.

This is Boat’s third product launch in the last couple of weeks as the brand has previously introduced the Airdopes 300 and Airdopes 311 Pro earbuds. The Airopes 300 stands out for offering spatial audio at an affordable price, while the Airdopes 311 Pro comes with an attractive transparent design and 50 hours of playtime.

Huawei beats Apple in China’s high-end smartphone market during 618 sales

The dust is settling on China’s massive 618 shopping festival, and a new trend is clear: domestic smartphone makers are taking a commanding lead in the high-end market.

According to JD.com’s “Smartphone Racing Ranking,” a whopping seven out of the top ten best-selling models priced above 6000 yuan (roughly $828) during 618 were from Chinese manufacturers, with Huawei boasting the most entries.

Huawei Pura 70 series

Domestic Brands Dominate: Huawei Leads Over Apple in High-End Smartphone Sales

This marks a significant shift for the Chinese market, which has traditionally seen Apple hold strong in the premium segment. While Apple still secured three spots in the top ten with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Plus, Huawei stole the show with five entries: the Pura 70 series (including the Pro, Pro+, and Ultra variants) and the Mate 60 Pro. Vivo also managed to grab two spots with their foldable X Fold 3 and the X100 Ultra.

Huawei‘s dominance extends beyond just the number of models. Their flagship Mate60 Pro, launched last August, has reportedly held its resale value remarkably well. Despite a starting price of 6499 yuan ($896) through the Pioneer Program, the phone has only seen a minor price decrease on e-commerce platforms, showcasing strong consumer confidence in Huawei’s high-end offerings.

This trend can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, domestic manufacturers like Huawei have made significant strides in innovation, offering feature-packed phones that rival or even surpass Apple in certain aspects.

Secondly, aggressive pricing strategies, particularly during sales periods like 618, have made these high-end devices more accessible to domestic consumers. Finally, with ongoing political tensions between China and the US, some consumers might be shifting their preferences towards homegrown brands.

Apple, however, is not out of the race entirely. Their decision to lower prices, with the iPhone 15 starting at 4599 yuan ($634), helped them maintain a presence in the high-end segment.

With Huawei leading the charge and other brands like Vivo showing strong potential, consumers now have a wider range of compelling options to choose from when it comes to ultra-high-end smartphones. This not only puts pressure on Apple to remain competitive but also signifies a potential turning point in the global smartphone landscape.

Darmoshark M5 Mouse

Darmoshark M5 Mouse Specifications:

The Darmoshark M5 comes equipped with the PAW3395 sensor, a popular choice among gaming mice for its excellent tracking performance. With a maximum DPI of 26000 and 650 IPS tracking speed, the M5 promises to deliver precise and responsive control during even the most fast-paced games.

The wireless connection supports an 8KHz polling rate, which translates to a lightning-fast response time of just 0.125ms. This minimizes input lag for near-instantaneous responsiveness in games where every millisecond counts.

The M5 is designed with fingertip grip players in mind. It features a lightweight body weighing only 38 grams, along with a comfortable, skin-friendly coating. The ergonomic shape and lightweight design are intended to provide gamers with greater control and reduce fatigue during long gaming sessions.

The Darmoshark M5 offers three connection options: wireless 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, and wired. The wireless mode boasts the aforementioned 8KHz polling rate, while Bluetooth offers a convenient low-power option.

The M5 packs a 300mAh lithium battery, offering up to 84 hours of battery life in 1KHz mode with the lights off. Even with the lights on, the battery life remains impressive at 55 hours. For wired use, the M5 comes with a lightweight and flexible umbrella cord to minimize drag.

The Darmoshark M5 is also equipped with a customizable driver that allows gamers to adjust DPI settings, polling rates, and program macros for in-game functionality.

For added durability, the M5 utilizes PTFE glide feet for smooth and silent operation. The mouse also comes in two color options: Silent (Black) and Moonlight (White).
