Hisense is recognized as one of the most sought-after consumer electronics manufacturer brands. The company has previously introduced the impressive 85-inch ULED X OLED TV, showcasing exceptional features including a 144Hz high refresh rate, 2500 nits of peak brightness, and much more. The brand has now raised the bar with its latest offering – the Hisense 100LX. This 8K Laser TV boasts top-notch specifications and is currently leading the industry.

The recently launched Hisense 100LX is a remarkable product, featuring an 8K pixel resolution. It offers support for up to 1.07 billion colors across the screen for seamless transitions and is designed to be easy on the eyes, with zero harmful blue light and strobe. With a staggering 33 million individual pixels, this TV utilizes an ultra-short-focus system architecture design lens with a variable field of view, ultra-high-resolution video signal decoding, and DMD drive technology, resulting in a breakthrough in 8K display technology.

Sound quality is a critical aspect of any TV, and the Hisense 100LX does not disappoint in this regard. It is equipped with 4 independent speakers that support Dolby Atmos and DTS true surround sound, ensuring an immersive audio experience. With the integration of DTS and Dolby Sound technology, the speakers deliver a genuine surround sound experience. The brand asserts that this TV offers the most immersive audio and video viewing experience.

In addition, the Hisense 100LX features the brand’s proprietary LPU digital laser engine technology, which maximizes the use of full-color technology throughout the pixels. This technology boasts a remarkable computing level of over 100 billion times per second, resulting in higher light efficiency and improved technical support for larger sizes and more immersive picture quality. This technology takes the product’s picture quality to the next level, offering an even more immersive viewing experience.

Moreover, the Hisense 100LX comes with additional features such as 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1 support. The brand also asserts that the LPU laser engine technology optimizes the pixel resolution while consuming less power compared to traditional 8K TVs available in the market. This feature enhances the device’s energy efficiency and makes it a more sustainable option for consumers.

As for right now, there is no official word on the selling price and availability of the device. We will update you as soon as we get any information on that. That being said, what are your thoughts on the newly launched Hinsense TV? Do let us know by dropping a comment in your words down below.

Display technology continues to evolve and improve, resulting in lower panel costs. This opened the door for larger screens and high-resolution TV’s. Samsung in particular has released very successful models in recent years. However not all the company is experiencing the same success. According to recent reports, LG has decided to discontinue production of its 8K 97-inch large TV. Here are the details…

LG Electronics Delays 8K OLED TV Development

LG has decided to postpone the development of an OLED 8K 97-inch ultra-large TV. The company’s largest OLED product, the 97-inch model, will maintain its 4K resolution from last year, and no separate plans have been made to release an 8K model. In comparison to Samsung has released a 98-inch Neo QLED 8K TV as a flagship model this year, LG seems to be taking a wait-and-see approach in the competition for ultra-large TV resolution.

According to the latest reports, LG Electronics has internally decided not to release a 97-inch OLED 8K TV. In relation to this, an LG Electronics official stated at the CES 2023 held earlier this month that there are currently no plans for development or release of the product.

The official stated, “There are currently no plans to release a 97-inch OLED TV 8K product,” and added, “We will look at how customers are using the currently available 97-inch OLED TV 4K product and take steps to improve convenience.” Also, “Instead of meaningless resolution competition, we will focus on improving other convenience such as wireless technology.”

In the ultra-large TV resolution market, LG Electronics will likely adopt a “wait and see” approach, monitoring market trends and consumer preferences before committing to developing and releasing a 8K OLED 97-inch TV. This move also highlights LG’s focus on improving overall consumer convenience, rather than just resolution.

As per an official announcement, the South Korean tech giant’s latest premium end flagship TV will support the fastest connectivity capabilities through Wi-Fi 6E. Notably, this also arrives a year after both firms announced the world’s first Wi-Fi 6 enabled 8K TV back in 2020. Now, the chip maker and the consumer electronics manufacturer have teamed up again to push the smart TV market even further, with the latest connectivity feature and 8K imaging.

The MediaTek MT7921AU supports Wi-Fi 6E along with Bluetooth 5.2 from a single integrated platform. This enables the new smart TV to be capable of networking speeds of up to 1.2Gbps, allowing customers to allow a smooth streaming and gaming experience. For those unaware, the Wi-Fi 6E standard was developed to make use of uncongested bandwidth in the 6GHz spectrum and even offers multiple advantages over the previous Wi-Fi generations.

This includes a “faster multi-gigabit data throughput, lower latencies, and the latest security and connection reliability features.” Jerry Yu, MediaTek Corporate Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Intelligent Devices Business Group stated that “Consumers depend on fast, reliable connectivity, whether they are using their TV for streaming, gaming or following along with workouts. Our collaboration with Samsung has been instrumental in bringing consumers the latest smart TV technology to support these uses and beyond.”

According to a Deloitte report (Via TheElec), the market share of 8K TVs across the globe is increasing in the premium TV segment. These include TVs that are on an average worth over 2,500 US Dollars, although, the sales price are continuing to drop as well. As per the report, around a million 8K TVs around the price of 3,300 US Dollars are expected to be sold this year, marking sales worth 3.3 billion US Dollars.

Despite the sale of these high resolution televisions being slow, their demand is also steadily growing in the premium segments. At the moment, about 220 million units of Tvs are sold per year, out of which a million only accounts for around 0.5 percent of the total shipments. Back when 4K TVs launched back in 2013, companies suffered from issues with mass exposure due to the lack of content supporting the high resolution.

Editor’s Pick: iPhone 12 series sees strong sales, but iPhone 12 mini might have ‘disappointed Apple’

However, Deloitte believes that the 8K TVs might not face the same issue as remastered analog and digital content that have enabled users to enjoy content in 8K. An example being Japan’s NHK showcasing a remastered version of the classic 2001: Space Odyssey in 8K back in 2018. Furthermore, most IMAX films that were filmed in 65 to 75mm can also be supported in 8K, while more and more movies and series are being filmed in high resolutions like 8K.

Notably, another aspect that is key to the growth of the high resolution panels is the difference in price between 4K and 8K TVs. Deloitte also believes that by 2022 users would be able to choose between multiple TV sizes over 65 inch as well, with 55 inch being one of the most popular options for 8K TVs, with projected shipments crossing 150 million units.

Recently, a 16-Yr old Charli D’Amelio was the first to hit 100 million followers on the App. Today, it partners with Samsung to launch the TikTok App on Samsung Smart TVs in Europe.

Samsung has made the announcement of the App and the collaboration with TikTok on its newsroom(via Sammobile). As per the announcement, users of Europe can exclusively access the short video-platform application on their Samsung TVs. However, it is available only for UK as of now. Precisely, you can take a look at the list of TVs that support are below:

All Samsung TV models from 2018-2020 in the UK*

4K and 8K TVs, Smart Monitor

The Premiere(projector)

The Frame

The Serif

*- All models of Samsung excluding The Sero. It will get the feature in 2021. The list of TVs for other countries(Europe) will be announced in the coming months. Also, we aren’t sure if this will expand out of Europe.

Samsung says, despite being a TV App, it’s crafted for a wholesome experience whilst being at home. As per the company, the TikTok App on TV will be similar and have ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ feeds. Additionally, it will also allow users to access the most liked and viewed content, #LearnOnTikTok for cooking hacks, fitness tips, etc.

Apart from this, the content on TikTok will organize content in 12 categories including Comedy, Learning, Sports, Travel, Animals, Art, Food, and more. That’s not all, as the TV App will also allow you to like, comment, and even Block/Mark not-so-interested content(Restricted mode). Good thing is, you can surf the App even without an account.

Ever since TikTok got banned in its biggest market India, the company has been handling tough challenges. The latest development in the USA is that, after temporarily escaping the ban, it is now facing an appeal from the US government.

Anyway, a sweet deal with Samsung will be a sign of relief as TikTok can now reach millions of homes across Europe. That said, the announcement says apart from this, TikTok can also be downloaded via Samsung Smart TV App Store and will be pre-installed in future TVs as well.

The leak also suggested that the 8K TV will have a 120Hz refresh rate, with 57600 light control partitions and a contrast ratio similar to OLED panels. Unfortunately, the report is still unconfirmed at the moment, so take it with a pinch of salt for now.

The S900 chip was announced earlier today (2nd July 2020) and brings support for various features like AI, 8K resolutions, Wi-Fi 6, and more.

The MediaTek S900 is capable of converting the digital signals from videos into image signals suitable for screen playback. Its decoding ability allows it to display content from a diverse lineup of video files with a promise of smoothness. Furthermore, the inclusion of AI helps improve picture quality, as the chip optimizes the video being displayed to improve clarity, color reproduction, contrast, and even motion compensation. Notably, the chip will be housed in a Samsung 8K QLED TV, making it the world’s first Wi-Fi 6 8K TV.

According to MediaTek, the S900 “combines a high performance CPU, GPU, and a dedicated AI processor unit (APU) to support features including AI voice-user interface and picture quality enhancement, enabling the next generation of smart TVs to deliver a vastly improved user experience.” It uses a multi core CPU that utilizes the ARM Cortex- A73 cores and a multi core Mali-G52 GPU that supports 8K decoding, HDR10+, and external graphics as well.

For connectivity, the chip supports HDMI 2.1A that has a maximum bandwidth of 48Gps, which is enough to deliver HDR10+ content and 4K videos running at 120Hz or 8K videos at 60Hz. Its AI PQ (Picture Quality) uses smart features like AI facial and scene recognition. This chip will likely be found in high end TVs that support 8K resolutions and, through its powerful chip, we can expect it to bring other display enhancing features as well. Although, that depends on the OEM that adopts the chip.

The company officially announced the S900 chip around July last year. Later in November 2019, it disclosed that the chip has entered mass production at TSMC’s foundry.

According to Chinese bog IThomes, MediaTek has hinted that the chip which will power 8K smart TVs is now ready to ship to OEMs. The MediaTek S900 8K TV chip has already featured on its first 8K TV and that is the Skyworth Q91 8K TV which was announced at CES 2020 in January. We may likely see a few more OEMs utilise the chip but it isn’t likely going to spread like wildfire considering the sky-high prices for 8K TVs and unavailability of 8K contents for such TVs.

As a reminder, the MediaTek S900 is manufactured using 12 nm FinFET process and it consists of a multi-core CPU comprising of ARM Cortex-A73 cores, and Mali-G52 GPU that supports 8K video decoding, HDR10+ and external graphics which enable customers (OEMs in this case) to customize their products. In terms of I/O support, the chipset supports HDMI 2.1A, which offers a maximum bandwidth of 48Gps — enough to deliver HDR10+ content, as well as 4K videos running at 120Hz or 8K videos at 60Hz.

The MediaTek S900 also supports AI PQ, short for Artificial Intelligence Picture Quality. With the combination of MediaTek’s proprietary MiraVision-Pro and AI PQ, the S900 supports AI scene recognition, enabling S900-powered TVs to improve picture quality by optimizing colour saturation, brightness, sharpness, dynamic motion compensation and picture noise, even for native 8K output.

MediaTek has already provided a NeuroPilot software development kit (SDK) for the chipset which allows developers to build apps for the platform. TVs powered by this chipset, when equipped with other necessary components can act as a hub for controlling smart home or IoT devices via voice and gesture controls.

It carries the model number Q950TS and is the top of the line premium TV among its entire lineup. The TV is currently available for pre-orders and will launch on 1st June 2020.

The Samsung QLED 8K TV Q950TS arrives with various image enhancing technologies. It is equipped with a high end display technology called Full Array Elite built on a black panel and features a wide color gamut color rendering technology. The display houses up to 33 million pixels thanks to the UHD panel and arrives with a new generation of Samsung Quantum Dot 8K AI processor.

This processor is an upgraded version of the AI Upscaling technology, which enabled content to be converted to higher resolutions like 8K. The Samsung QLED 8K TV Q950TS also sports an artificial neural network and has a deep learning based algorithm with adaptive picture technology. The latter enables the TV to automatically adjust light and color temperature according to the ambient light.

For audio, the 8K QLED Q950TS houses two speakers on either side. These speakers are further divided into an audio system with 6 sub speakers. Interestingly, Samsung has equipped the TV with OTS+ technology or Object Tracking Sound along with an Active Voice Amplifier (AVA). The TV uses an AI software that lets it track audio and video for the OTS+ technology to enhance the listening experience through the 5.1 surround sound channel.

One of its highlighting aspects is undoubtedly the display. Samsung is known for making top end screens and the Q950TS features a near complete screen to body ratio of 99 percent. In other words, there are negligible bezels that offer a full front display body. The 8K QLED TV is priced at 49,999 Yuan (roughly 7,063 US Dollars) for the 65 inch model, while the 75 inch and 85 inch version is priced at 69,999 and 99,999 Yuan respectively (roughly 9,848 and 14,068 US Dollars).

The LG OLED 8K model arrives in the ZX series and will be available in two sizes, namely, an 88 inch OLED display with an 8K resolution or another 8K 77 inch panel. The South Korean tech giant claims that it will offer sharper images thanks to its pixel density being 4 times higher than most 4K screens out there. This display is also one of the primary reasons for its exorbitant pricing.

Unfortunately, there is no real 8K content that is readily available at the moment. Thus, it offers only a marginal image quality improvement over regular 4K TVs. Apart from this, the only real difference one can observe is by looking closely at the display. The model number for the 88 inch variant is 88ZXPJA while the 77 inch version is called 77ZXPJA. The former is priced at 3.7 million yen (roughly 34,676 US Dollars) and the latter will sell for 2.5 million yen (roughly 23,430 US Dollars).

Amongst other things, the design of the LG 8K TV is quite impressive as well. It arrives in an extremely thin form factor, which can even have it resemble a picture on the wall setup if put up on a wall. Furthermore, it also arrives with an Artistic Sculpture Design stand and has support for the LG ThinQ voice assistant. For sound, the premium flagship TVs sport front firing 60W speakers that are claimed to offer a more cinematic experience in your homes.

In terms of other features, the LG 88 inch 8K OLED TV houses a Gen 3 AI processor technology alongside HDMI 2.1 inputs (which enables 8K output at up to 120fps) and other screen protection related measures for the expensive TV. The custom processor also improves image quality and reduces overall noise. So, if you really want to go all out on your next TV purchase, look no further.

According to a new report, the global market crossing 1 million units in production for 8K TVs might not be achieved until after 2020 passes. As it stands right now, the world is gripped by the viral outbreak which has affected various economies and industries as well. The lower production numbers arrive despite various OEMs launching their 8K offerings.

Many vendors are unable to promote their 8K TV offerings in strategic markets like China, Europe, and the US. These regions generally have a high demand for such high resolution TVs. However, the recent pandemic has made it much harder for companies to follow through. The postponement of the Tokyo Olympics has also hampered many vendors’ plans for promotion.

The biggest TV in the Nano90 4K TV lineup is 86-inch model, which is now available for purchase at $3,299. Other models in the series will go on sale later this month and next month. The Nano99 8K series that features both 75-inch and 65-inch models will go on sale in May and June of this year.

Both the Nano99 series and the Nano90 4K series will implement full array local dimming that divides backlighting into small sections for more precise control and to improve black levels and overall contrast.

The Nano 99 series comes powered by an Alpha 9 Gen 3 AI Processor 8K which is similar to the one used in LG’s 2020 OLED TVs. The company says that it uses “deep learning technology” to provide an ideal 8K viewing experience.

The company has also noted that these 8K models exceed the Consumer Technology Association’s requirements for 8K TVs, joining LG’s 2020 ZX series of 8K OLED TVs in being among the first models that actually qualify for the CTA 8K Ultra HD logo.

Samsung 8K QLED TV

For those unaware, Wi-Fi 6 is the latest standard in the wireless fidelity area. Its improvements over previous generations offer higher transmission speeds while saving on power. In other words, the technology is essential in making 8K streaming experience a lot more seamless. Just for the large bit rate, one would require an improved receiver apart from just a fast internet, this is where Wi-Fi 6 comes in.

According to a press release from MediaTek, “Samsung is a long-standing strategic partner of MediaTek, and its consistent drive to innovate has allowed MediaTek to continue to bring industry-leading IC solutions, like our Wi-Fi 6 family to market. Samsung is driving growth of the premium smart TV segment and collaborating with them on Wi-Fi 6 and 8K is just the start of a strong global demand for advanced connectivity and Wi-Fi 6 solutions.”

Simply put, the known chipmaker’s collaboration with the consumer electronics giant is striving to bring a new standard of media consumption. The former is known for its Wi-Fi 6 chips being found in smart TVs and routers, in which holds the number 1 market share. Thus, we can expect it to collaborate further with the latter for more such TV, for which Samsung is known for.

Along with that, Xiaomi will also expected to launch its 8K Smart TV and MIUI 11.

Now, the Mi TV’s official Weibo account has shared a new teaser poster which hints that the company is all set to unveil its 8K Smart TV in the market next week. The poster has a bold font in the center that reads “8K Ready” and below that it teases “We Are Ready!”.

Currently, the highest resolution that Xiaomi Mi TVs have is 4K resolution. If a new Mi TV Pro comes with an 8K resolution, then that firmly places the premium TV on the high-end of Xiaomi’s TV lineup.

Recently, during its ‘Smarter Living 2020’ event in India, Xiaomi launched four new TV models in the Indian market, including the Mi TV 4X 65-inch. Prior to that, its sub-brand Redmi launched its first Redmi TV in China with an aggressive pricing. A couple of days ago, Xiaomi announced a 70-inch model for its Mi TV 4A series.

However, Xiaomi’s won’t be the first company to launch 8K TVs in the market. TCL has already unveiled 8K TV but the device is not going on sale anytime soon. Other brands like Samsung and LG have also launched 8K TVs.

Editor’s Pick: OnePlus TV coming with smartphone integration for remote control and faster text input; launching on 26th September

Samsung QLED 8K and LG OLED 8K have been announced by the companies but they are very expensive. While the Samsung’s TV is priced at around $5,000, the LG’s TV will soon go on sale with pricing as high as $30,000.

While Xiaomi has been very popular in the Smart TV category in its home country China as well as in India, the company’s popularity is now under threat given that many smartphone makers are now entering the Smart TV market.

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has already launched Honor Vision TV powered by HarmonyOS at an aggressive price point while OnePlus is also set to enter this market with its OnePlus TV on 26th September. While the OnePlus TV will first be launched in India, it’s just a matter of time it makes way to the Chinese market.

Up Next: Huawei’s Harmony OS-powered TV now on reservation, expected to launch globally September 19

The Japanese company did not reveal the name of the product but did indicate that it will be on exhibition from September 6 to September 11. The smart TV will feature a 120-inch display capable of 8K resolution. The company also disclosed that it would be unveiling a 5G TV also with 8 resolution.

Details of the mammoth 8K TV and the 5G 8K TV weren’t revealed. But we expect the 5G TV to come with a 5G baseband. The TV is designed for use during pubic exhibitions such as in museums and schools. The TV can remotely display ultra-clear videos and pictures of artworks. The exact size of the 5G TV wasn’t disclosed but it can broadcast 8K HDR content. Sharp is hoping to build an 8K + 5G ecosystem that can transmit ultra-clear videos and pictures to end-users via 5G networks or upload them to the Internet. Transmitting high-gamut 8K ultra-clear videos require at least 512Gbps of ultra-high bandwidth, and only 5G can provide that kind of speed.

We’ll bring you more details about the products when they are unveiled.

Thanks to such a TV, people would be able to download 360-degree videos, VR content and other heavy video content in a short time, and they won’t even need a local connection, nor cable TV or satellite broadcast services in order to find a lot of content with outstanding quality.

Thanks to the 5G connectivity, the Huawei TV will also behave like a hub for smart home appliances. A 5G TV is definitely a step forward to take on Samsung‘s business which is one of the most important TV manufacturers in the world, as well as its main competitor in the smartphones market. Samsung has already released 8K TVs, but the Korean giant still does not have a 5G-enabled TV in its catalog. Besides trying to launch the first 5G TV, Huawei is also looking to conquer the PC market.

Indeed, Huawei is aiming to enter the top five PC makers by 2021 and it will increase its shipments up to 3x times this year. According to Nikkei, the company is even developing its own CPUs for laptops, just like it does with smartphones through its HiSilicon business. Huawei is currently the world’s second smartphones manufacturer and it entered the PC market in 2017 with the MateBook series including ultrabooks which can be defined as more affordable competitors of MacBooks. In 2018, the company shipped more than one million PCs.
