As shown in the promotional poster below, the official slogan for the OnePlus 10 Pro is “bringing 10 to the name”, a pun of a Chinese saying, “bringing fame to the name”. 10 is seen as the perfect 10/10 score for many sports such as diving, gymnastics, and 10-pin bowling, and OnePlus is trying to imply that the OnePlus 10 Pro is going to bring perfection to the flagship smartphone space, and will be solidifying the OnePlus brand name in the premium smartphone category.

Pete shares that in 2022, the OnePlus brand has been established for 9 years, and the OnePlus community is now spanning across 50 countries with 1.4 million active users worldwide. As once called the “flagship killers” in the industry, he shares that OnePlus wants to challenge itself further, with a truly 10/10 premium flagship, to be worthy to be called a “perfect flagship”.

He mentions that to create a “perfect flagship”, one must follow a 10 point rule, whereby 3 points go into the specs of the product and 7 points go to the finish and polish of the product. He said that this mission has been accomplished with the 10th iteration of the OnePlus flagship, the OnePlus 10 Pro. Despite that, he mentions that the OnePlus 10 Pro will still have the top of the specs within its class, albeit with a more refined finish for OnePlus’ first truly ultra-premium smartphone.

Huawei led the overall Chinese wearable market in Q1 2020 with shipments of 4.282 million units, which accounted for 24.3% market share. The company grew 18.8% YoY as its shipments and market share were 3.605 million and 18.1% at the same time last year (Q1 2019).

Xiaomi came a close second with 23.5% market share based on 4.144 million units of shipments. But it witnessed a decline of 0.6%. In the previous year, it led the market with 4.177 million units and 21.0% market share.

At the third position, Apple shipped 2.848 million units covering 16.2% of the market. The US tech giant grew 15.2% YoY from 12.4% market share and 2.473 million units.

It was the only brand to show a huge increase in its market share by 72.9% YoY. For comparison, in Q1 2019, it only shipped 458K units and grabbed a mere 2.3% market share.

Lastly, the fifth place was held by BBK Electronics, which is known for its Okii XTC smartwatches for kids. It shipped 765K units down from 1.448 million units last year. It only accounted for 4.3% market share compared to last year’s 7.3%. In other words, it was the worst-performing of all the top brands with 47.1% YoY decline.

There seem to be no antenna band lines at the back which is an indication that the device is using a plastic back or that it has hidden antenna design if it turns out it uses a metal fuselage. Up front, there is a physical home button which should also function as fingerprint sensor since there is no fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear.

Quarterly rankings by research firms like IDC and TrendForce for Q2 2016 had placed the company among the top three in terms of highest phone shipments, alongside market leader Huawei and OPPO (another BBK brand). Now it has been revealed by a Weibo user that the company will gross a total of about 70 million in phone shipments this year.

According to the Weibo user, the innovative brand is targeting a figure in the range of 90 million to 100 million phone shipments next year. In the same vein, industry analyst Sun Changxu projects that Vivo’s phone sales could even clock up to 75 million units before the end of the year.

Vivo had broke into the top three tier for the Q2 2016 through its agressive phone sales using offline sales channels. The company also released a number of top notch devices this year such as the Vivo Xplay5, X5, X6 and X6 Plus, X6S and very recently the X7 and X7 Plus high-end smartphones. According to well-known industry analyst Pan Juitang, Vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi and Huawei are all expected to launch new smartphones by the end of October to crown up their sales for 2016.

Overall, the report shows smartphone sales for the second quarter grew by 4.3% when compared to last year’s growth.

In the overall rankings, three Chinese smartphone makers, Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi ranked from third to fifth in that order. Huawei maintained its third position in global sales for the second quarter of 2016 selling over 30 million smartphones during that period, representing 8.9% of the market share and a 0.9% growth for Huawei from last year’s Q2 figures.

On the other hand, OPPO continued its run of booming sales during the second quarter fueled by the success of the R9. Whereas last year the company sold a little over 8 million phones during the second quarter, it recorded a monumental figure of over 18 million.

Xiaomi’s shipments for Q2 2016 recorded the smallest growth margin of just 0.2% leaping from 4.5% in Q2 2015 to 4.7% this year. In addition, Vivo (listed as BBK) also made it into the list of top 10 brands in overall sales volume for the second quarter of 2016.

Meanwhile, Samsung was the top smartphone seller, with 76.7 million smartphones sold, compared with 72 million sold a year earlier. That increase boosted its share to 22.3%, up from 21.8%. Gartner attributed Samsung’s increased sales to have been benefited by sales of the Galaxy A and Galaxy J series of smartphones which competed well against devices from Chinese smartphone makers.

Gartner’s report also revealed Apple’s iPhone sales dropped 7.7% in the second quarter, with 44.4 million phones sold globally, down from 48 million a year earlier. This decreased Apple’s market share to 12.9%, down from 14.6% a year earlier. Even at that, Apple maintained the second position in global smartphone sales.

In all the overall smartphone sales reached 344 million, slightly higher than last year’s second quarter figures of 330 million. In terms of operating system, Android devices occupied 86% of the total market in sales, compared to 14.6% for iOS and 2.5% for Windows.

Earlier teasers about the new brand from BBK “imoo learning phone” were not certain to describe its features. We knew that the youngest brand of the BBK family will come targeting education, therefore targeting students first. Other members of the family are Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus as we highlighted in this article. Now we know most of the specs and why its called a learning phone for young students.

Lesson/subject synchronization, teacher consulting and parent safety (probably tracking of the children) are some info related about “student and school” relationship. Students can use the data-saving feature of imoo phone, thereby using less internet for their learning. They will also have the chance to track their schedule/lessons online from imoo.

Imoo looks like its big brother, Vivo V3Max in front. Back side of the phone is similar to the iPhone 6s except the hole between the camera and the flash. It could be a place for the laser focus in addition to some other feature, which we will know for sure after the official launch. What’s more interesting is that we can’t see any fingerprint scanner back or front and imoo may have thought that it’s not necessary for children.

RELATED: Company behind Vivo, OPPO, and OnePlus launches a new smartphone brand

The learning phone comes with a 5.5″ Full HD AMOLED screen, equipped with MediaTek P10 eight-core 2GHz processor. 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, 2930mAh battery, 13MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera are the other specs of the phone as we know for now. It will have Android 6.0 out of the box measuring 158 x 78 x 7 mm and 154.5 gm.

We all know that Chinese students are a big community, following mobile technology very well. Most of them will probably want a new phone for the next school period and parents might choose to buy imoo for their children because of the education oriented abilities of the new brand. Price for the imoo phone will be around 2000 Yuan – $300.

The company is important to all Chinese smartphone lovers, as they are behind some of the most famous phone brands in the market right now, including OPPO, Vivo, and even OnePlus. So, if BBK is releasing a new smartphone brand, we can expect some pretty good products.

The company has just released a new brand called as “imoo”. This particular brand will be focused on making educational smartphones. This is not actually a new market for BBK, as the company has been involved with educational toys for kids for the past few years. So, the company is now bringing its experience in the educational segment and the smartphone segment together to make educational smartphones under the imoo brand. We are not entirely sure what to expect from these so-called educational smartphones, but more details are coming in the next few days.

The new brand imoo also released the first teaser for its device recently, which reveals some details about the phone. First of all, the brand is calling it as the “imoo learning phone” and it will be officially announced on June 24. Also, from the image, we can confirm that the phone comes with a slim form factor and metal frame with at least one color option, gold.

Another interesting thing we noted here was that the company said “imoo is coming” in English. Plus, there are a lot of words in English on the teaser image. Could we see some learning material from Chinese to Eng or vice versa on this phone? Maybe, we are just speculating too much based on limited information. Anyway, we should hear more about the phone this week. Stay tuned!
