A key addition is an upgraded Virus Scan feature. It identifies potentially harmful apps, explains the associated risk level, and allows users to remove them directly from the scan screen. The system highlights issues such as malicious APKs or apps with intrusive ads, reducing the need to manually search through settings for removal. The feature is positioned as a built-in safeguard aimed at improving device-level security without requiring third-party tools.

ColorOS 16 also introduces support for running multiple timers simultaneously. Users can manage different activities on a single screen, whether it is cooking, workouts, or task tracking. Each timer can be labeled and monitored together, and the interface now shows estimated stop times, making it easier to plan around ongoing tasks.

Additional updates focus on small but useful changes. Content Portal now supports app clones, allowing smoother content sharing between duplicate apps used for multiple accounts. A new toggle lets users decide whether received files should open automatically, adding a layer of control over incoming content. These changes are designed to reduce friction in daily use rather than introduce major interface overhauls.

The update is rolling out to several OPPO devices, including the Find X9 Pro, Find X9, Find X8 Pro, Find X8, Find N5, Reno 14 Pro 5G, and Reno 14 5G. As with most staged rollouts, availability may vary, and not all users will receive the update at the same time.

ColorOS 16 rollout is in its final phase, with only a few devices left to receive the update. The list has now become even shorter as Oppo has released the update to three more mid-range smartphones: Oppo K13x, Oppo K12x, and Oppo Reno12 F.

As per the official announcement on the community page (1, 2, 3), the ColorOS 16 update for the Oppo K13x and Oppo K12x is rolling out in India, while the Oppo Reno12 F is receiving the update in Indonesia. The update will expand to other regions in the coming days and weeks.

Your Oppo phone must be running the required firmware version to be eligible for the ColorOS 16 update:

Oppo K13x: CPH2753_16.0.3.500(EX01)

Oppo K12x: CPH2667_16.0.3.500(EX01)

Oppo Reno12 F: CPH2687_16.0.3.501(EX01)

If your Oppo smartphone is on the list and you belong to a supported region, the update may be ready for installation. Go to Settings > System & update > Software update to check for available updates.

If you don’t see the update, apply for the Release Candidate to get it sooner. For this, go to Settings > System & update > Software update > Tap the top of the page > Tap the icon on the top right > Beta program > Release candidate > Apply Now. Then check for an update and hit the Download now button.

Keep in mind that ColorOS 16 is a major upgrade with a download size of a few gigabytes. So, you must make sufficient room on your device and charge it to at least 50% for a smooth upgrade to ColorOS 16. Don’t forget to back up important data just to stay on the safe side.

With three more Oppo devices now receiving the ColorOS 16 update, only a few devices are in the queue, including the Oppo Reno12 FS, Oppo Reno11 FS, and Oppo F31 5G. Oppo promises to release the update for those devices this month itself.

Oppo is wrapping up ColorOS 16 rollout as it announces the update timeline for the last batch of eligible devices. The March 2026 timeline mostly focuses on mid-range devices, such as the Oppo F31 series, Reno 12F, Reno12 FS, K12x 5G, and more.

ColorOS 16 rollout schedule for March 2026

March 5: Oppo F31 Pro+ 5G, Oppo F31 Pro 5G

March 6: Oppo K13x 5G

March 10: Oppo Reno12 F, Oppo Reno12 FS, Oppo Reno11 FS, Oppo K12x 5G

March 17: Oppo F31 5G

Some of these devices, including the Oppo F31 Pro models and Oppo K13x 5G, are already receiving the ColorOS 16 update. The rollout may be limited to select regions for now, but it should eventually expand to the remaining devices this month.

If your Oppo device is on the list above, you can expect the ColorOS 16 update this month. To manually check for available updates, go to Settings > System & Updates > Software update.

Keep in mind that this is a major upgrade, and hence the update size will be a few gigabytes. So, ensure that your device has sufficient storage and it’s charged to at least 50% for a smooth upgrade to ColorOS 16. You can read about the changes and new features in ColorOS 16 here.

With the ColorOS 16 rollout nearing completion, Oppo is reportedly already working on its next major upgrade based on Android 17. Google has already released the first two public betas, and more are expected in the coming weeks. The stable version is likely to arrive in Q3 2026.

OPPO has added a new set of features and improvements to ColorOS 16 for February 2026. This is not a major software upgrade, but a feature update focused on the Photos app and productivity tools. The goal is to improve editing, document handling, and file security.

The Photos app gets several upgrades. The new Popout feature creates a layered effect by separating the main subject from the background. This makes people or objects stand out more clearly in a photo. It works directly inside the gallery, so users do not need any third party apps.

The AI Eraser has also been improved. It now removes unwanted objects with fewer visible marks left behind. Edited areas look cleaner and more natural. The Remove Reflections tool has been upgraded as well. It reduces glare in document photos and portraits, including reflections on glasses, for clearer results.

OPPO has also introduced a limited time New Year Watermark themed around the Year of the Horse. Users can find it by going to Photos App > Select Photo > Edit > Watermark. The feature is available from February 6, 2026 to March 3, 2026. It requires OS version 13.1 and above, and Photos App version 15.75.0 and above. The feature is available in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The Photos app can be updated through the App Market if needed.

On the productivity side, ColorOS 16 now supports PowerPoint translation. Users can translate entire presentations into multiple languages while keeping the original formatting. The feature allows users to view the original and translated text side by side and export the translated file.

The Private Safe feature has also been improved. Adding images and files is now faster, making it easier to store sensitive content securely.

These February 2026 features will roll out in phases from February 6 to February 28. Supported devices include OPPO Find X9 Pro, OPPO Find X9, OPPO Find X8 Pro, OPPO Find X8, OPPO Find N5, OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G, and OPPO Reno14 5G. Rollout timing may vary by device and region.

The update’s centerpiece is AI Writer’s return after being paused in December 2025. The integrated tool supports seven content formats: essays, job advertisements, letters, proposals, scripts, plans, and greetings. Users can generate structured text directly on their devices without external applications.

Another major addition is the expanded O+ Connect feature. With this update, supported OPPO devices can display iPhone calls, messages, and alerts directly on the phone. This allows users to stay updated without switching devices and improves day to day convenience for those using both Android and iOS products. Feature availability may vary depending on the device model and hardware or software limitations.

Private Safe gains file search functionality and direct sharing from encrypted folders. The Camera application now offers 65:24 aspect ratio capture in Photo, Night, and Master modes, providing ultrawide framing options. App Drawer introduces Office and Finance categories for improved organization.

There is also a new setting that allows users to hide the Reply with SMS option on the incoming call screen. Users access this through Contacts → Settings → Answer or End calls → Reply with SMS.

Alongside these changes, OPPO has included improvements to system stability, privacy, and security.

The ColorOS 16 January update is rolling out to the OPPO Find X9 Pro, Find X9, Find X8 Pro, Find X8, Find N5, OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G, and OPPO Reno14 5G. Update timing may vary by device, and not all users will receive the notification at the same time.

According to posts on Oppo Community, the stable ColorOS 16 update is now available for the Reno 11 Pro (CPH2607_16.0.2.401), Reno 11 (CPH2599_16.0.2.400), Reno 10 Pro Plus (CPH2521_16.0.2.400), and F25 Pro (CPH2603_16.0.2.400). The rollout happens gradually and may take days or weeks to reach all devices across different regions. Users can check manually by going to Settings > System & Updates > Software Update.

ColorOS 16 features

ColorOS 16 (Global Version) is based on Android 16 and puts a clear emphasis on speed, smarter features, and smoother interaction across devices. At the core of the update are the new Luminous Rendering Engine and an updated Trinity Engine. Together, they improve overall system stability by 37% and make animations feel noticeably smoother, whether the phone is an entry-level model or a flagship.

The “Luminous” design idea also carries over to the interface. ColorOS 16 introduces a new Flux Home Screen with resizable, adaptive icons that adjust more naturally to different layouts. The Always-On Display has also been expanded to full screen and now transitions smoothly into the lock screen, which makes the entire unlock experience feel more fluid and connected.

AI plays a much bigger role this time, with deeper integration of Google Gemini. AI Mind Space acts as a central hub where users can collect, organize, and revisit notes or saved information. On the creative side, features like AI Portrait Glow and Master Cut aim to make advanced photo and video editing easier, without requiring much manual effort.

Connectivity has also been improved. O+ Connect offers better integration with both Mac and Windows systems, while the enhanced Touch to Share feature simplifies file transfers to iOS devices. For privacy, ColorOS 16 relies on a Private Computing Cloud to handle sensitive AI tasks securely. Overall, the update feels faster, more practical in daily use, and better suited for users who rely on multiple devices.

The official version went live on December 30 for devices running CPH2705_16.0.2.401(EX01). While the brand has not provided an exact changelog, we have mentioned all the major new features of ColorOS 16 below.

ColorOS 16 features

ColorOS 16 introduces several AI based features. AI Mind Space allows users to record 60 second voice notes by long pressing the Snap Key. These notes are automatically grouped using Smart Collections. With Google Gemini integration, users can ask questions to retrieve saved notes or combine personal content with web search results. The AI Recorder Assistant generates titles and summaries for recordings and reduces background noise, making it useful for lectures, meetings, and interviews.

AI Writer focuses on content creation. It can generate captions for social media images based on the platform and convert text into mind maps or tables to help organize ideas and plans.

The update also adds new cross device features. When an iPhone is connected via Bluetooth, calls, messages, and app notifications can be viewed on the OPPO phone through the OPPO Dialer. Users can mirror their phone screen to a PC using a cable or cloud connection, with support for up to five app windows at the same time.

Performance related changes include the Trinity Engine, which helps maintain stable frame rates during multitasking and gaming, and the Luminous Rendering Engine, which makes system animations smoother.

Camera and editing updates include AI Portrait Glow, Motion Photo Collage, slow motion editing tools, and a built in video editor. Visual changes include Flux Themes, additional home screen options, broader Aqua Dynamics support, and the Luminous Design applied across the system.

Things to keep in mind

OPPO advises users to back up their data before installing the update, as some apps and system functions may not work as expected right after installation. Once the update is complete, the phone will run background optimization processes. During this period, users may notice heating, slower performance, and higher battery usage. Some third party apps may require updates from the App Market to function properly. Users can report issues by dialing *#800#.

OPPO recommends backing up data beforehand and updating third-party apps through the App Market to address potential Android 16 compatibility issues. Users can report bugs by dialing *#800#.

ColorOS 16 centers on AI functionality through the OPPO AI suite. AI Mind Space captures 60-second voice notes via long-pressing the Snap Key, automatically organizing entries into Smart Collections. Google Gemini integration enables natural language searches and summarization of saved content.

AI Recorder Assistant generates automatic titles and summaries for recordings while applying noise reduction for enhanced clarity. AI Writer provides content creation tools, generating social media captions from images and converting text into mind maps or tables.

Cross-device connectivity receives substantial upgrades. Users can receive and respond to iPhone calls and SMS on the Find N2 Flip when Bluetooth-connected. iPhone notification mirroring replicates app alerts to the OPPO device. PC screen mirroring supports simultaneous control of five app windows.

Performance enhancements arrive through the Trinity Engine, maintaining stable frame rates during intensive multitasking, and the Luminous Rendering Engine, delivering fluid system-wide animations.

Imaging features include AI Portrait Glow for enhanced facial lighting, Motion Photo Collage with slow-motion editing capabilities, and a comprehensive video editor offering clip trimming, speed adjustments, and format conversion.

The interface introduces Flux Themes, expanded widget selections, live Aqua Dynamics alerts, and refreshed Luminous Design aesthetics.

Security advances through OPPO Lock’s Call to Lock and SIM Lock functions. Call to Lock enables remote device locking for users in supported regions including India, while SIM Lock immediately secures the phone upon SIM card removal.

The stable ColorOS 16 update is now available for the OPPO K13 Turbo Pro 5G and OPPO K13 Turbo 5G. Users can apply for the official version starting December 9. For the OPPO K13 Turbo Pro 5G, the required detectable version is CPH2731_16.0.1.301(EX01). For the OPPO K13 Turbo 5G, users must be on version CPH2761_16.0.1.300(EX01).

Oppo recommends backing up all important data before installing the update, as system incompatibility or unexpected issues could result in data loss. After installation, the system will run background optimizations. During this period, users may notice heating, lag, or faster battery drain. Oppo advises charging the device overnight with the screen turned off or continuing normal usage, as performance should return to normal within a few days. Some third-party apps may not yet support Android 16 and could crash or lag until updated. Bugs can be reported by opening the dialer and entering *#800#.

ColorOS 16 introduces several AI-powered features under OPPO AI. AI Mind Space allows users to capture ideas by long-pressing the Snap Key to record a 60-second voice note. Notes can be grouped automatically using Smart Collections. Integration with Google Gemini allows users to retrieve saved notes and combine them with web search results using voice queries.

The AI Recorder Assistant automatically generates titles and summaries for recordings and applies AI noise reduction to improve voice clarity. AI Writer can generate platform-specific social media captions from images, convert text into mind maps, and organize content into tables.

ColorOS 16 also improves cross-device connectivity. When connected via Bluetooth, iPhone calls and SMS messages can be synced to Oppo phones using the Oppo Dialer. iPhone app notifications can also be mirrored on Oppo devices. Phone screen mirroring to PC is supported through USB or cloud connection, with support for casting up to five individual app windows at the same time.

Performance upgrades include the new Trinity Engine, designed to maintain stable frame rates during heavy multitasking, and the Luminous Rendering Engine, which delivers smoother system animations across the interface.

Camera and creation tools include AI Portrait Glow for improved facial lighting, Motion Photo Collage with slow-motion playback, and an all-in-one video editor with clip trimming, speed control, resolution adjustment, frame rate selection, and background music support.

Design updates include Flux Themes with Motion Photo or video lock screens, expanded icon and widget sizing, app drawer category sorting, enhanced Aqua Dynamics live alerts, and new Luminous Design visuals. Security additions include OPPO Lock with Call to Lock support in India and SIM Lock, which locks the device instantly if the SIM card is removed.

In a fresh wave of ColorOS updates, Oppo is expanding its list of devices eligible for ColorOS 16. There are a bunch of older smartphones getting the Android 16 OS update, including older premium foldable phones and even mid range devices. So here are the details.

Oppo Brings ColorOS 16 to More Smartphones

Just recently, the Chinese tech giant brought the update to premium and budget models. This included the Find X6, Find X6 Pro, Reno 13, Reno 14, Reno 14 Pro, and the F27 models. So now, here are all the models getting the new ColorOS 16 update:

Oppo Find N2 Flip – CPH2437_16.0.1.310(EX01)

Oppo K13 Turbo – CPH2761_16.0.1.300(EX01)

Oppo K13 Turbo Pro – CPH2731_16.0.1.301(EX01)

Oppo Find N2 Flip

Oppo’s ColorOS 16 custom skin brings the latest Android 16 OS and carries a download size of around 3.7GB. The company is rolling out the update in a staggered manner, so only a small batch of these models is getting the major software upgrade. Meaning, if you haven’t received the update yet, it should follow soon after.

To check if you’ve received the update go to Settings > System & update > Software update > tap the top of the page > tap the icon on the top right > Beta program > Release candidate> Apply Now. Click the Download now button and then install the update. It is worth noting that you should make sure that you have sufficient storage to download and install this update. Furthermore, it is also recommended to have over 40 percent battery life when installing ColorOS 16.

The ColorOS 16 update, based on Android 16, began rolling out in November and has been gradually expanding to more devices according to the official timeline. It appears the brand has recently improved the rollout pace as multiple devices across the X, F, and Reno lineups are now picking up this major update.

ColorOS 16 update is now rolling out to these devices

These Oppo smartphones have recently started receiving the stable ColorOS 16 update, based on Android 16:

Oppo Find X6

Oppo Find X6 Pro (PGEM10_16.0.1.300 (CN01))

Oppo Reno 13 (CPH2689_16.0.1.302 (EX01))

Oppo Reno 14 (CPH2737_16.0.1.302(EX01))

Oppo Reno 14 Pro (CPH2739_16.0.1.310 (EX01))

Oppo F27 (CPH2637_16.0.1.300 (EX01))

As you may already know, the updates are rolled out in batches. So, it may take a few days to reach all the units. You should receive a notification for the same on your device. Or, you can manually check for updates from the Settings app.

To get the update early, you can sign up for the release candidate build. To do this, go to Settings > System & update > Software update > tap the top of the page > tap icon on the top right > Beta program > Release candidate> Apply Now. You should see the update on the Software update page. Click the Download now button and then install the update.

Please note that ColorOS 16 is a major upgrade with a download size of about 3-5GB. Therefore, you must ensure that the device has sufficient storage and that it has at least 40% battery before installing the update.

If your Oppo device isn’t on the above list, you can check the rollout timeline here to find out when the update will be available for your device.
The global rollout of ColorOS 16 began earlier this month, starting with premium models, such as Oppo Find N5 and Find X8 Pro. Later, it expanded to more Oppo phones and tablets. If you’re still waiting for this Android 16-based major upgrade, Oppo has announced a precise update roadmap for November along with the exact rollout dates.

Oppo releases a monthly roadmap that reveals which devices will receive the update in the month, but more importantly, it also reveals the exact rollout dates. Here’s the ColorOS 16 rollout plan for November 2025:

November 6

Oppo Find N5 – released

Oppo Find X8 – released

Oppo Find X8 Pro – released

November 11

Oppo Find N3 – released

Oppo Find N3 Flip – released

Oppo Pad 3 Pro – released

Oppo has already begun the ColorOS 16 stable rollout for these devices, as per the roadmap. However, it’s important to note that the rollout happens in batches, and therefore, the update may not appear immediately on your phone. You can manually check for updates from the software update section inside the Settings app.

More devices to get the ColorOS 16 update this month

The November 2025 ColorOS 16 roadmap only lists a total of six devices, but the update will expand to more Oppo devices later this month. The official community post also says “that this list is not final, and we’ll continue to update it with more and more devices when it’s their time.”

According to the official rollout schedule, announced during the ColorOS 16 global launch, the update should also reach several Reno phones and Oppo Pad 3 Pro this month.

Here’s a list of Oppo devices that will also receive ColorOS 16 in November:

Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G

Oppo Reno 14 5G

Oppo Reno 14 5G Diwali Edition

Oppo Reno 14F 5G

Oppo Reno 13 Pro 5G

Oppo Reno 13 5G

Oppo Reno 13F 5G

Oppo Pad 3 Pro

Again, as the rollout happens in batches, several regions may receive it before others. To ensure your phone is ready for this major upgrade, make sure there are no pending updates for installation.

ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, is a major upgrade for Oppo devices, bringing numerous improvements, AI enhancements, visual upgrades, and a range of new features. It’s a bulky update with a download size of several gigabytes. Therefore, ensure the device has sufficient storage before downloading the update package and that the battery is at least 40% charged before installing it.

OPPO has started rolling out the stable version of ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, to its first batch of global devices. The company confirmed that the rollout starts this month, continuing in phases for more models in the coming weeks.

First batch of global devices

The update officially begins on November 6, 2025, for the OPPO Find N5, Find X8 Pro, and Find X8. These three models are the first to receive the stable ColorOS 16 build globally.

The second batch follows on November 11, 2025, adding the OPPO Find N3, Find N3 Flip, and OPPO Pad 3 Pro. OPPO clarified that the rollout will take place gradually, in batches, so the update may take a few days to appear on all devices. Users are advised to check official community threads for verified announcements instead of creating new posts to keep the update discussion organized.

What’s new in ColorOS 16

ColorOS 16 brings faster performance and smoother transitions with the Luminous Rendering Engine and Trinity Engine. These systems make app launches quicker, scrolling smoother, and touch response sharper. OPPO says the update improves animation speed and responsiveness by double-digit percentages compared to previous versions.

OPPO has officially launched ColorOS 16, the latest iteration of its Android skin, marking a major leap in design, intelligence and device-connectivity. Built on Android 16, this update introduces smoother animations, stronger AI features, improved cross-device workflows and enhanced privacy. The global announcement arrives alongside the brand’s flagship Find X9 and Find X9 Pro. With the roll out set to begin in November 2025 and spanning into early 2026, here’s what the new OS brings and which OPPO devices are first in line.

A Fresh Visual & Performance Experience

ColorOS 16 is designed to feel both faster and more refined than its predecessors. At the heart of the update lies a revamped animation system. OPPO is offering seamless animations that are powered by the new Luminous Rendering Engine and Trinity Engine. These components work together to render visual elements more efficiently and reduce lag across apps and transitions.

The goal is to make launching apps feel faster, scrolling smoother, and the interface more fluid overall. OPPO claims double-digit improvements in animation speed and touch responsiveness. Meanwhile, visually the UI takes cues from nature, with elements like light, shadow and motion influencing the design, adding immersive touches like motion wallpapers and full-screen always-on displays.

Smarter Features & Deeper Connectivity

Beyond aesthetics and motion, ColorOS 16 introduces meaningful upgrades in intelligence and ecosystem integration. One major focus is on Artificial Intelligence, bringing various AI driven editing tools like AI Portrait Glow, AI Eraser, and Master Cut video editing. All of this gives users one-tap ways to enhance photos and footage.

ColorOS 16 arrives with Oppo AI integration that features tools like AI Mind Space, AI Mind Assistant, and Smart Collections. The system also integrates Google’s Gemini, with Gemini Live allowing for real time interaction with Google’s multimodal assistant. So it can understand and read contextual information available on-screen. On the connectivity front, O+ Connect and improved multi-device workflows allow you to share files, mirror apps and link your phone with Mac and Windows PCs seamlessly. This allows for improved cross platform connectivity.

Additionally, privacy and system security are also getting an upgrade with more granular controls and background optimization. This system includes Oppo Lock for advanced data protection (Call to Lock, Dual Verification, & more) that can secure your device’s data if it gets lost, and Private Computing Cloud that makes sure your private data is processed with Oppos Private Cloud to remain secure.

Don’t get surprised to see OnePlus devices on the list, as those devices in China run ColorOS, while the rest of the world gets OxygenOS. The above timeline applies only to the Chinese market.

Oppo has also been teasing the global launch of ColorOS 16 with a “coming soon” tag. It’s expected to happen in a few days; that’s when the brand will reveal the rollout plan for other markets.

ColorOS 16: all the new features and major upgrades

ColorOS 16 gets visual upgrades, making it feel cleaner, smoother, and more transparent. The new Light Field Design language brings new translucent UI textures and elements, which we also know as Liquid Glass UI, first appeared on Apple devices with iOS 26 and was recently adopted by Xiaomi with HyperOS 3.

Oppo has also introduced the Luminous Rendering Engine for a seamless parallel rendering motion, offering smooth visual transitions, and the improved Trinity Engine efficiently manages system resources to achieve better performance, faster multitasking, and better power efficiency.

With various performance advancements, ColorOS 16 achieves 37% higher stability at heavy load, 4.1 degrees temperature reduction, 13% better power efficiency, and a 14% reduction in CPU load. Furthermore, the new OS offers 26% faster app launch, 30% faster in-app click response speed, and a 16% increase in boot speed.

The lock screen now features new clock styles that can be placed anywhere on the screen. Additionally, the new OS adds drop shadow effects and full-screen AOD support. Users can now add widgets to the lock screen. Upgrades have also been made to icons and Flux Home Screen to match the translucent nature of the UI and allow a greater degree of customization.

ColorOS 16 also brings deeper AI integration into core apps such as Notes, Recorder, and Calendar. The new AI Portrait Glow feature optimizes skin tones and balances light with a single tap. The improved Aqua Dynamics feature now works with three live activities and supports Cloud Live Activities with more than 110 live services.

Oppo has also strengthened connectivity with other devices. The updated O+ Connect now supports Windows PCs and Macs. Tablet users can now run up to five apps simultaneously using the new Screen Mirroring option.

Oppo has been actively working on Android 16 and ColorOS 16 for months, and now it appears the brand is finally closing in on the stable release. It has just begun the ColorOS 16 Open Beta program, which is the final stage before the stable rollout. The program is currently limited to some high-end devices, including the Oppo Find X8, Find X8 Pro, and Reno 14.

The ColorOS 16 Open Beta program is available for Find X8, Find X8 Pro, and Reno 14 users in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Interested users can apply to be a part of this program until October 13. Unlike closed beta or early beta build, the Open Beta is generally available to a wider audience. So, participants have a higher chance of getting early access to the latest features and upgrades ahead of the public rollout.

Here’s how to apply for the ColorOS 16 Open Beta program

It’s important to note that the open beta builds are generally safer and more stable than preview builds or closed beta builds; however, they are still beta builds and hence may contain bugs, errors, and stability problems. You must also back up important data to prevent data loss due to firmware failure or any other technical difficulties.

Make sure your phone is updated to the detectable version:

Oppo Find X8: CPH2651_15.0.0.860(EX01)

Oppo Find X8 Pro: CPH2659_15.0.0.860(EX01)

Oppo Reno 14: CPH2737_15.0.2.602(EX01)

Oppo Reno 14: CPH2737_15.0.2.502(EX01)

Open the Settings app and tap System and update.

Tap on Software update.

Tap the three dot icon in the top-right corner and choose Beta program.

Click the Apply button.

Check the required boxes and hit Apply.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your application.

Once your application is accepted, you’ll receive the ColorOS 16 beta via an OTA update. You can manually check for updates by navigating to Settings > System and update > Software update.

Since this is a major upgrade, the download size will likely be a few gigabytes. It’s recommended to download such packages over a Wi-Fi connection. Before installing the update, ensure the device has at least 40% battery, so that it doesn’t power off during the process.

Oppo says some third-party applications are currently incompatible with Android 16. It should be resolved in the upcoming updates. Another important point to keep in mind is that the device performs heavy optimizations in the background after a major upgrade is installed, which generally leads to a faster battery drain. Don’t worry about that if it happens. It usually takes a day or two for the battery consumption to return to normal.

Oppo was one of the first brands to release Android 16 beta, which was a pretty early build, limited only to Find X8 users. The first beta arrived in April this year, followed by additional betas over the coming weeks and months. In August, the ColorOS 16 Closed Beta program went live, and now it’s time for the Open Beta experience. This is the final stage of the beta testing phase, indicating the imminent release of the stable build. Assuming no last-minute critical bugs, the ColorOS 16 stable rollout should begin later this month. We’ll have concrete details about the stable release and rollout schedule on September 15, when Oppo will launch ColorOS 16 globally.

The Chinese tech giant confirmed on a recent community post that the ColorOS 16 Open Beta is live now. This update is available only to users in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. For those interested, the application period for the open beta is already live, with the last date set for 13th October 2025. So you have a couple of days if you wish to try out the Android 16 OS based ColorOS 16 custom skin.

It is worth noting that the major software upgrade is seeing a limited release. Only the Oppo Find X8 Pro and Reno 14 are eligible for the open beta. The flagship model is receiving the CPH2659_15.0.0.860 build, while the mid range model is getting the CPH2737_15.0.2.602 or CPH2737_15.0.2.502 build version.
Oppo has officially confirmed that it will unveil ColorOS 16 at a launch event in Shenzhen on October 15, 2025. The announcement, posted on Oppo’s official website, also reveals that the company’s annual Developer Conference (ODC) will take place alongside the launch.

At the event, Oppo will showcase its latest AI strategy and offer attendees a deep dive into ColorOS 16. According to the company, the conference will feature ten sub-forums, six exhibition areas, and even an “inspirational street,” giving developers and enthusiasts multiple ways to explore Oppo’s vision for software and design.

Oppo’s ColorOS 16 Draws Inspiration from iOS 26

The company’s official site also offered a first look at the upcoming OS design direction. And as we expected, ColorOS 16 is clearly taking cues from the liquid glass design of iOS 26. It will be interesting to see Oppo’s interpretation here since liquid glass is facing criticism from Apple users, including concerns about readability.

As expected, the first devices to ship with ColorOS 16 will be the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro. The Find X9s are also among the first phones to feature the Dimensity 9500 chipset. Another first for the phones is the world’s first 1 nit display for next-gen eye protection.

Oppo has employed a self-developed P3 display chip to improve the visual experience. The display is also flicker-free, features a 3840Hz PWM dimming, 6900K default eye protection color temperature, and TUV Rheinland and SGS certification.

The phones are expected to launch just a day after, on October 16 in China, whereas they might launch globally on October 28.

Oppo was quick with the Android 16 beta release earlier this year, but the stable release is taking longer than we expected. Many of its competitors, including Samsung, Motorola, and even Sony, have already begun the stable rollout of Android 16, but Oppo users will need to wait a bit longer.

Earlier this month, Oppo confirmed that ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, will launch in October. Now, we have a new leak that reveals the exact date, and it’s a little disappointing. According to the latest leak from Smartprix, ColorOS 16 will launch globally on October 15. That’s still almost a month-long wait.

Notably, Google released the stable version of Android 16 in early June, months ahead of its usual schedule. This offered other Android brands plenty of time to fine-tune their custom skins, but Oppo, among some other brands, has been particularly slow with the development, pushing the Android 16’s release to a similar timeframe around last year’s ColorOS 15, which could have happened a lot earlier.

Anyway, the upcoming Find X9 and Find X9 Pro will be the first phones to run a stable version of ColorOS 16 out of the box. These flagship phones will likely be unveiled on the same day, October 15.

What to expect from ColorOS 16 and Android 16?

One of the biggest upgrades to ColorOS 16 will be a new Liquid Glass UI design, which was first introduced with iOS 26. It gives the design a premium look with sleek, translucent aesthetics featuring glass-like elements and dynamic animations. This new design reportedly gives the entire system a futuristic and vibrant feel, and makes daily interactions more responsive and visually appealing.

ColorOS 16 will also bring performance improvements, a full-screen Always-On Display, and redesigned lock screen widgets. There are also more customization options, a revamped Photos app, and many under-the-hood improvements to offer optimized system responsiveness and an overall smoother software experience.

These were some of the highlights of ColorOS 16, as mentioned in the leak. I’m pretty sure ColorOS 16 has more exciting features and upgrades that Oppo will reveal at the launch. The upgrade will also include new features and enhancements from Android 16.

Oppo has already begun ColorOS 16 beta testing on several devices and will soon start rolling out the stable update as well. It’s a major upgrade and should be an exciting one, as it’s supposed to bring a host of new features, visual changes across the UI, and numerous improvements.

The Android 16-based update will be available on a range of Oppo devices, including the premium Find N-series, Find X-series, mid-range Reno-series, K-series, F-series, and budget-friendly A-series (see the complete list here). The sad part, however, is that over a dozen of them will receive this as their last major upgrade. In other words, they won’t get any major upgrades beyond Android 16 and ColorOS 16.

We’ve prepared a list of such Oppo devices. Review it below to find out if you may need a hardware upgrade sometime next year to continue receiving the latest features and enhancements.

Oppo devices that will receive Android 16 as their final major upgrade

Oppo Reno 12 F

Oppo Reno 12 F 4G

Oppo Reno 11 F

Oppo F27

Oppo F27 Pro+

Oppo F25 Pro

Oppo K12

Oppo K12x

Oppo K12 Plus

Oppo Pad 3 Pro

Please note that this is an unofficial list, prepared based on the current update policy and a little bit of guesswork. Hence, I recommend checking the official announcement for the final confirmation.

The final OS upgrade to these Oppo phones — Android 16 — will be released later this year. Post that, they will continue to receive security updates for a while before reaching the end of software updates.

When will Oppo release the Android 16-based ColorOS 16 update?

Oppo hasn’t announced the ColorOS 16 release date yet. However, it’s been a reliable brand when it comes to software updates. It was also one of the few brands to offer early access to Android 16 beta in April.

Earlier this month, Oppo kicked off the ColorOS 16 closed beta testing program, starting with the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro, marking a significant step towards the stable release. More devices are expected to receive the ColorOS 16 beta in the coming weeks.

Regarding the stable rollout, there has been no official announcement yet. However, according to reports, it could go live next month, starting with the premium models. Hopefully, Oppo will release the ColorOS 16 rollout timeline soon, which will give us better clarity about the rollout.

With Google’s early release of Android 16 in June 2025, Oppo users must be eagerly waiting to experience the latest Android features wrapped in the company’s ColorOS 16 custom skin. However, the brand is not rushing for the release but instead taking its own time to ensure the update is polished before stable rollout.

Oppo has been actively working on Android 16. In fact, it has already released Android 16 beta for select devices in April, and it looks like the stable release is around the corner. If you’re wondering when your Oppo phone will get Android 16, or whether it even will, here’s everything you need to know about this major upgrade.

Oppo Android 16 (ColorOS 16) release date

Oppo hasn’t announced a release date or rollout timeline for ColorOS 16 just yet. However, if past rollouts are anything to go by, we’re not far off from an official announcement.

In April, Oppo kicked off the Android 16 beta for select models, offering early adopters a preview of what’s coming. A full ColorOS 16 beta is expected to follow in the coming weeks. This will likely include a broader range of devices and give users a first look at all the new features and design changes.

Interestingly, a “closed beta” card recently appeared on the Find X8 series’ beta program page, suggesting the ColorOS 16 beta for those phones is imminent. An official announcement could be right around the corner.

Which Oppo devices are eligible for Android 16 update?

Whether you have a flagship Find X/N model, a mid-ranger Reno model, or a budget-friendly phone, you’re likely looking forward to the next major software upgrade. So, here’s a list of Oppo phones and tablets that will likely get the ColorOS 16 update:

What to expect from Android 16 and ColorOS 16?

Google has added a suite of new features in Android 16, and Oppo’s ColorOS 16 will likely integrate many of them with its own custom touches.

One of the standout additions is Android Protection, an array of security features that’s designed to protect users from online attacks, harmful apps, unsafe websites, scam calls, and other online threats.

We’re also expecting new AI tools and upgrades to the existing AI features. On top of that, ColorOS 16 could offer new features, visual tweaks, more customizations, new widgets, and new clock styles. We’ll know more about the upcoming features once the ColorOS 16 beta goes live.

The stable version of Android 16 was released in June this year, months earlier than everyone expected. Its early arrival means that your Oppo smartphone should also receive Android 16 update faster than usual. Unfortunately, a lot of Oppo devices are going to miss out on this major upgrade because they have reached the end of their major update quota.

Whether you have a fancy Oppo Find N series foldable, a flagship Find X series device, a mid-range Reno, or a budget-friendly device, you’re likely looking forward to the next version of Android. However, many of them don’t make the cut. Below, we’ve prepared a list of such Oppo devices you might want to have a look at.

List of Oppo devices not eligible for Android 16 (ColorOS 16) update

Oppo hasn’t confirmed the availability of Android 16 for its devices. So, we had to use the existing update policy and a little bit of guesswork in preparing the list.

Oppo Find N series

If your Oppo device is there on the list, it’s unlikely to receive the Android 16 update. However, this isn’t the final list. We’ll update it once the official announcement goes live.

The stable version of Android 16 is now available for Google Pixels, and it will soon start rolling out to non-Google brands, such as Oppo. The Chinese brand has already released a few Android 16 betas for select devices, and it is now preparing for the final release.

The stable Android 16 update for Oppo devices will feature a layer of ColorOS 16 skin at the top, offering an additional set of new features and improvements. Review the list below to find out if your Oppo device is eligible for the Android 16-based ColorOS 16 upgrade.

Oppo Android 16 (ColorOS 16) eligible devices list

Oppo hasn’t announced which devices will be upgraded to Android 16. Therefore, we had to rely on the existing update policy and a little bit of guesswork to prepare the list.

Oppo Find N series

Oppo Find N5

Oppo Find N3

Oppo Find N3 Flip

Oppo Find N2

Oppo Find N2 Flip

Oppo Find X series

Oppo Find X8

Oppo Find X8 Pro

Oppo Find X8 Ultra

Oppo Find X7

Oppo Find X7 Ultra

Oppo Find X6

Oppo Find X6 Pro

Oppo Reno series

Oppo Reno 14

Oppo Reno 14 Pro

Oppo Reno 13

Oppo Reno 13 Pro

Oppo Reno 13F (LTE/5G)

Oppo Reno 12

Oppo Reno 12 Pro

Oppo Reno 12F (LTE/5G)

Oppo Reno 11

Oppo Reno 11 Pro

Oppo Reno 11F

Oppo A series

Oppo A5 (LTE/5G)

Oppo A5x (LTE/5G)

Oppo A5 Pro (LTE/5G)

Oppo A5 Energy

Oppo F series

Oppo F29

Oppo F29 Pro

Oppo F27

Oppo F27 Pro

Oppo F25 Pro

Oppo K series

Oppo K13

Oppo K12

Oppo K12x

Oppo K12 Plus

Oppo Pad series

Oppo Pad 4 Pro

Oppo Pad 3

Oppo Pad 3 Pro

Oppo Pad SE

If your Oppo device is on the list, it’s likely to be upgraded to Android 16 when the rollout begins. However, I’d still recommend checking the official list (when it will be announced) for the final confirmation. Those missing from the list should also wait for the official list before considering upgrading to a newer model.

When will Oppo start rolling out Android 16 update?

Oppo has not announced when it will start rolling out the Android 16-based ColorOS 16 update to its devices. However, we know that it usually takes a few weeks after Google releases the latest version of Android OS. Since Android 16 was released last week, we can expect the ColorOS 16 rollout to go live in early July 2025. We can’t discount the possibility of a delay if critical bugs are found.

Whenever the rollout begins, it will initially reach recent premium phones, such as the Find X8 series, Find N5, and Find N3 series. The update will then gradually expand to mid-range and cheaper models. Oppo will soon release a ColorOS 16 rollout schedule, which will reveal when the update will be available for your Oppo device.
