Dell has launched the Pro 5 Micro, one of the first mini PCs to run on Intel’s new Panther Lake platform. The Pro 5 Micro targets professionals and businesses by offering solid performance in a compact form factor.

Dell Pro 5 Micro Specifications

The mini PC measures just 182 x 36 x 178 mm, with a volume of 1.2 liters and a weight of 2.42 pounds. It comes with two processor options: the Intel Core Ultra 5 335 vPro and the Core Ultra 7 366H vPro.

The Pro 5 Micro supports up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, with speeds reaching 7200MT/s, and offers storage capacity of up to 2TB through dual M.2 Gen 4 SSDs.

The mini PC offers flexible placement options, including mounting under a desk, on a wall, or in an all-in-one stand with a monitor. It supports multi-display setups with up to five monitors for enhanced productivity.

The device includes a wide range of ports for connectivity. On the front, the Pro 5 Micro has a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and a global headset jack.

At the back, it offers more options, including HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, Ethernet, USB 2.0 ports, and USB-C with 100W Power Delivery and DisplayPort Alt mode. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 for fast wireless connectivity.

The base model with the Core Ultra 5 335 vPro starts at $1,273 without accessories. With peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse, along with Windows 11 Pro and Wi-Fi 7, the price is $1,409. The premium Core Ultra 7 366H vPro model is available for $1,691.

Alienware has announced the availability of its latest Area-51 and Aurora gaming laptops as part of its 30th anniversary lineup, introducing updated hardware, revised thermal designs, and a new visual direction. The systems were initially introduced at CES 2025 and are now available to purchase.

The Area-51 series returns as the company’s flagship notebook range, focusing on high-end configurations and larger form factors. This generation introduces what Alienware calls its “Alienware 30” design language, which replaces sharper edges with curved surfaces. The chassis also incorporates a concealed hinge design and a softer palm rest layout aimed at improving long-duration usability.

The lineup includes 16-inch and 18-inch models with WQXGA (2560 x 1600) displays. The 16-inch variant can be configured with an OLED panel offering a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time, and up to 620 nits of peak HDR brightness. The 18-inch model uses a 300Hz panel with 500 nits brightness and a 3ms response time. An LCD option is also available for the smaller model.

On the hardware side, both Area-51 models can be equipped with up to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX processor and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU with 24GB of VRAM. Memory support goes up to 64GB of DDR5-6400 in a dual-channel configuration. Storage includes up to 2TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD, with support for up to three internal drives, allowing total capacity to scale up to 12TB.

The systems are built on the Intel HM870 chipset and use an 8-phase CPU and 11-phase GPU VRM design. Cooling is handled by larger internal fans, while power is delivered through a 96Whr battery paired with a 280W adapter. It is powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU. Memory can be configured up to 64GB DDR5-5600, with storage options up to 2TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Gigabit Ethernet. The system is backed by a 90Whr battery and supports up to a 280W charger on higher-end configurations.

Pricing

Pricing varies depending on the configuration. The Alienware 16X Aurora with a Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor starts at $2,919 for pre-configured models. The Area-51 16 and Area-51 18 with similar high-end specs are priced at $4,899 and $4,999, respectively.

Dell also offers lower-priced “build your own” options. Current starting prices for Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus variants are:

The SE2726HGS and SE2726HG share identical core specifications, differing only in stand ergonomics. Both monitors use a 27-inch IPS panel with 1920 × 1080 resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. AMD FreeSync Premium eliminates screen tearing, and both support HDR and variable refresh rate over HDMI. Response times range from 5ms GTG in standard mode to 0.5ms GTG in extreme mode. At CES 2026, Alienware announced a complete refresh of its gaming laptop lineup. The company brought back the Area-51 name with 16-inch and 18-inch models and introduced the Alienware 16X Aurora, a thinner and lighter gaming laptop. All three models run on Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series laptop GPUs.

The Alienware 16 Area-51 and Alienware 18 Area-51 are the top-tier models. Both use Alienware’s new Alienware 30 design and have an anodized aluminum chassis in Liquid Teal. The 16-inch model is the first Alienware gaming laptop with an anti-glare OLED display. The screen is a 16-inch WQXGA OLED panel at 2560 x 1600 resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time, 120 percent DCI-P3 color volume, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, ClearMR 9000 rating, and up to 620 nits of HDR peak brightness. The anti-glare coating cuts reflections by up to 32 percent. The display supports NVIDIA G-SYNC, ComfortView Plus, and Advanced Optimus.

Both Area-51 models use a new Cryo-Chamber thermal system. The 16-inch model handles up to 240W of gaming power, while the 18-inch model handles up to 280W. Airflow is up 35 percent and fan noise is down 15 percent compared to the previous generation. Configurations with RTX 5070 Ti GPUs and higher get vapor chamber cooling. GPU options include the RTX 5070 Ti with 12GB GDDR7, RTX 5080 with 16GB GDDR7, and RTX 5090 with 24GB GDDR7. Memory goes up to 64GB DDR5, with XMP support on select configurations. Storage goes up to 12TB using RAID 0.

The Alienware 18 Area-51 has an 18-inch WQXGA LCD display with a 300Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, 500 nits of brightness, and NVIDIA G-SYNC with Advanced Optimus. It includes a full-size SD card slot, Thunderbolt 5 support depending on GPU, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and a 96Whr battery with a 360W GaN adapter. The maximum weight is 4.34kg.

The Alienware 16X Aurora is built for people who want high-end gaming in a more portable laptop. It weighs 2.66kg and is 19.2mm thick at the front. It uses the same 16-inch WQXGA anti-glare OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.2ms response time. CPU options range from the Intel Core Ultra 5 235HX to the Core Ultra 9 275HX. GPU options include the RTX 5060 and RTX 5070 with up to 130W Dynamic Boost. It supports up to 64GB DDR5 memory, dual NVMe SSDs with RAID 0, Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, and a 90Whr battery.

Alienware also said it will expand the lineup later in 2026. This includes a new ultra-slim gaming laptop around 17mm thick in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, and a new entry-level gaming laptop for first-time buyers. More details will come closer to launch. The SE2426HG features a 23.8-inch screen, while the SE2726HG comes with a larger 27-inch display. Both monitors use a 1920 × 1080 Fast IPS panel with a refresh rate of 240Hz and a gray-to-gray (GtG) response time as low as 0.5 milliseconds in Extreme mode. Dell lists brightness at 300 nits and a native contrast ratio of 1000:1. Color coverage reaches 99% of the sRGB gamut, and both models support HDR10.

Dell has included anti-glare treatment, low blue light mode, and flicker-free technology to improve comfort during long gaming or work sessions. The panels offer 178-degree viewing angles in both horizontal and vertical directions.

Several Dell PCs are facing critical issues after attempting to install Microsoft’s December cumulative update KB5072033 for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. The problems include failed installations, frequent system freezes, and a non-functional Start Menu.

The update, released on December 9, has been failing to install on many Dell desktops and laptops. Users report that the progress bar halts mid-way and returns error code 0x800f0983. A system administrator confirmed that a large number of new Dell systems under his management encountered the same issue. He attempted multiple troubleshooting methods, including System File Checker, Deployment Image Servicing and Management, and reinstalling Windows. None of these fixed the problem.

The situation is worse on Dell Pro Max 16250 devices. Several users reported that these systems freeze after installing the update. Initial speculation pointed to Intel Arc graphics drivers. Further investigation by users revealed that a BIOS setting caused the issue. They found that disabling the “Enable adaptive c-States for discrete graphics” option under Advanced Setup > Performance in the BIOS stopped the system crashes.

Another reported issue affects the Start Menu. On some systems running Windows 11 24H2, the Start Menu fails to open after installing KB5072033. One affected user suspects that the problem may be connected to a previously identified bug from update KB5072911, which affected File Explorer and other XAML-based apps on enterprise devices.

Microsoft has not released an official fix or statement addressing these problems. For now, Dell users are advised to delay the KB5072033 update or manually adjust BIOS settings if they face system freezes. The update continues to raise concerns across Windows forums, especially among enterprise administrators managing large fleets of Dell hardware.

Dell has expanded the Alienware Area-51 desktop lineup with new AMD Ryzen 9000 series processor options. The system was launched at CES 2025 with Intel Core Ultra 200 Arrow Lake processors, but AMD versions were not available at that time. The new models are now on sale.

Alienware Area-51 (AMD model) features

The Area-51 uses the X870E motherboard and can be configured with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D or the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Both processors include AMD’s 3D V-cache technology, which improves access to game data and boosts performance in titles that depend on high cache sizes. Dell includes ComfortView Plus hardware-level low blue light protection, which reduces harmful blue light by 15% compared to its previous generation. The monitor is certified with TÜV Rheinland’s four-star Sharp Vision standard and meets ComfortView Plus Level 2 requirements.

According to Dell, the Pro Max Plus can support large language models with up to 109 billion parameters. It’s clearly a device for AI enthusiasts and data scientists rather than general users. This probably explains why Dell hasn’t provided a price tag or full spec sheet yet.

Aside from the AI hardware, details are pretty scarce at the moment. There’s no word on the CPU, GPU, storage, or display. We will learn learn more when Dell launches the machine later this year.

Laptops with some form of discrete AI processing aren’t totally new. Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop Studio 2 with Intel’s Movidius VPU. But Dell’s approach is much more aggressive here, both in terms of hardware capability and intended use case.

There will be more Pro Max Plus models in the future, but Dell says not all of them will emphasize AI to this extent. This initial version seems to be the flagship for the AI-focused crowd.

These are a pair of Blue colored laptops that weigh a hefty 5.5 and 5.86 pounds (2.4 to 2.6 kg). But the gaming DNA remains, as the RGB lighting is still available. However, if you’re looking for a more understated use, the duo come with a stealth mode that turns the RGB into light white and tones down the fan.

The Aurora lineup also includes Dell’s high end Alienware desktop PCs, but the Aurora 16 and Aurora 16X feature a more portable form factor. While both variants feature a tall 16-inch IPS LCD panel, the base Aurora 16 offers 2560 x 1600 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 300 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, the higher end model has a higher 500 nits of peak brightness and a 240Hz refresh rate.

Connectivity options include two USB-A, two Gen 3.2 USB-C (includes Thunderbolt 4 and DisplayPort 2.1), HDMI 2.1, Ethernet port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Wi-Fi 7. The top end models on the Aurora 16 and Aurora 16X can be equipped with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPUs. However, the base version of the Aurora 16 starts either an RTX 3050 or RTX 4050 depending on the region.

Furthermore, the Aurora 16 features Intel Raptor Lake Refresh line of CPUs starting from the Intel Core 5 CPU. On the other hand, the Aurora 16X packs the newer Intel Arrow Lake processors, with the top end model being the Core Ultra 9 275HX. You can pair the Aurora 16 with up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of internal storage, while the 16X can be paired with up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of internal storage.

Alienware packs the Aurora 16 with a rather modest 60Wh battery pack, but you get a massive 96Wh cell on the 16X. Talking about the pricing and availability, the Alienware Aurora 16 has a starting price tag of 1,149.99 US Dollars, and the Aurora 16X starts from 1,949.99 US Dollars. IDC says the tariffs will push prices up and slow down sales for the rest of the year. Ongoing economic uncertainty is also expected to hurt demand.

U.S. consumers are likely to face both shortages and higher prices. With imports paused, inventory of key laptop models may run low in the coming weeks. Acer’s CEO confirmed an expected 10% price hike to offset the tariff burden.

Apple is the only major brand not halting shipments. It prepared in advance, filling U.S. warehouses before the tariffs hit. Apple is also flying in more iPhones from India, where the U.S. tariff is 26%, compared to the 104% rate on China-made goods. This has allowed Apple to keep its supply steady and avoid raising prices for now.

Over the last couple of months, various PC brands have unveiled new laptops that feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chip. This processor was launched last year and promised to offer impressive energy efficiency, great performance, and advanced AI capabilities. Acer

Back in May 2024, Acer unveiled the Swift 14 AI which is a new laptop model. This features Qualcomm’s high-end laptop chipset, the Snapdragon X Elite SoC. Dell recently expanded its laptop offering with a new range of laptops with new Snapdragon X series chips. The duo comes with a dedicated NPU to accelerate AI related tasks locally on the system. HP’s Snapdragon X Elite powered notebooks feature the PolyCamera Pro which offers virtual interactions and AI filters like spotlight and auto framing. HP’s EliteBook Ultra has a 1699 US Dollar price tag, while the OmniBook X costs 1,149 US Dollars.

Lenovo

Similar to HP, Lenovo also has two notebooks that feature Snapdragon X Elite. This includes the Yoga Slim 7x 14 Gen 9 and the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6. The former is a thin and light notebook that weighs 1.28 kilograms, while the latter is built for working professionals and also has an ultra light weight of 1.24 kilograms. The Yoga Slim 7x 14 sports a 14.5-inch 3K 90Hz OLED panel.

Meanwhile, the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 sports a 14-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) IPS panel. Talking about the pricing, the Yoga model is currently on pre-order on Lenovo’s website for 1,289 US Dollars. Dell launched the Snapdragon X Plus powered XPS 13 9345 laptop last month. Now the machine is on sale in China for a price tag of 11,999 yuan (US pricing is around $1300).

The body is made of aluminum and uses CNC precision cutting technology. The laptop comes with a thickness of 14.8mm and weighs only 1.17kg.

A Snapdragon-powered lightweight machine from Dell

Upon opening the lid you will be looking at a full-size keyboard, a seamless glass touchpad, and a smart touch function bar, which can switch function keys and media keys at will.

This laptop is equipped with a 13.4-inch 2880×1800 resolution OLED touch full screen, supporting 400nits brightness, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and TÜV hardware anti-blue light. For audio, there are a total of 4 speakers (2 for low frequencies and 2 for high frequencies). There is a 1080p webcam for video calling. Notably, the new chip enables real-time noise reduction for better video calling.

Inside, the machine equips the newly released Arm-based Snapdragon X Plus chipset. This chipset comes with a total of 10 Qualcomm Oryon CPU cores, an integrated Adreno GPU that delivers “delivers graphics-intensive presentations and entertainment”, and the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that delivers 45TOPS AI performance (which is reportedly the world’s fastest NPU for laptops as of now).

The chipset also focuses on a power-efficient operation, which has enabled the manufacturer to create such a lightweight machine without aggressive cooling or a massive battery.

Speaking of memory and storage, the laptop is equipped with 16GB LPDDR5x RAM with a speed of up to 8400MT/s and comes with 1TB SSD. You can also expand the storage to up to 4TB.

The new XPS 13 laptop comes with two Thunderbolt ports, one on each side.

DELL announced five Snapdragon-powered laptops last month – the XPS 13 (9345), Inspiron 14, Inspiron 14 Plus, Latitude 7455, and Latitude 5455. With the Snapdragon chip, the XPS 13 received a massive battery life improvement as compared to its Intel-powered version.

On the Computex keynote Qualcomm’s CEO Cristiano Amon invited Dell’s senior suit Sam Burd to task about the result of their adoption of the Snapdragon X Elite chip. As he said, the new Snapdragon-powered XPS 13 now “delivers multi-day battery life”.

The Snapdragon-powered laptops are clearly more efficient

He noted that the laptop achieves 27 hours of video streaming on a single charge. This is reportedly 9 hours more than the Intel version.

The XPS 13 with Intel’s Meteor Lake series Core Ultra 7 155H CPU equips the same 55Wh battery as the one with Snapdragon X Elite, X1E-80-100. The Snapdragon version is clearly much more power efficient as it houses the same 13.4-inch FHD+ display with 500 nits peak brightness. You get the same 60W Type-C adapter for charging as the Intel version.

The new Arm-based XPS 13 comes with 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. For connectivity, you get 2 x full-function USB-C ports with 40Gbps bandwidth, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort support.

This laptop offers a Graphite backlit keyboard with a fingerprint reader and a multi-touch gesture-enabled precision touchpad with haptic feedback. You get a 1080p webcam for video calling alongside an IR camera for seamless facial recognition.

For audio, the machine equips a quad-speaker design that includes both a tweeter and woofer (2W x 4 = 8W total).

In addition to the power-efficient operation, you also get the benefit of the AI capabilities of the new chip. The new XPS 13 lets you experience Microsoft’s new Recall feature that can answer your questions based on what you have done or seen on your computer screen in recent times.
