A few weeks back, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/14/samsung-galaxy-m31-android-12-update-is-finally-here/">Galaxy M31 received the Android 12</a> update in India. Now, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m31s/">Samsung Galaxy M31s</a> is getting the taste of the latest public Android version.</p>
<p>The Samsung Galaxy M31s&#8217; Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update has the firmware version M317FXXU3DVD4 (<a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-m31s-android-12-update-released/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">via</a>). The update is currently rolling out for the Galaxy M31s models in Russia. It brings a whole lot of new features and also has the March 2022 security patch. The update also brings some bug fixes and improvements.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-370621 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy M31s Mirage Blue Featured" width="4000" height="2250" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Samsung-Galaxy-M31s-Mirage-Blue-Featured-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></p>
<p>Some of the notable features that the update carries are more of the Android 12 features. There&#8217;s the redesigned UI with the new Color Palette, improved Always-on-Display, thicker slider bars, new widget styling, and others.</p>
<p>It also has updated stock applications such as Samsung Gallery, Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, and My Files.</p>
<p>One of the other notable features includes the privacy indicators for the mic and camera, where if an app is accessing the camera or microphone, you will see a green indicator on the top.</p>
<p><strong>How to Update?</strong></p>
<p>If you are a Galaxy M31s owner in Russia you will get an OTA update notification. You can also look for the update manually by heading to Settings &gt; Software Update. If you do not see the update, no need to worry as it will reach your device soon.</p>

However, a new report has suggested that some of these models might be suffering from a mysterious bug.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<figure id="attachment_323731" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-323731" style="width: 640px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-323731 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/galaxy-a51-5g.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy A51 5G" width="640" height="373" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/galaxy-a51-5g.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/galaxy-a51-5g-300x175.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-323731" class="wp-caption-text">Galaxy A51</figcaption></figure>
<p>Apparently, a number of users of certain Galaxy A and Galaxy M series of handsets have claimed that these smartphones suffer from a peculiar issue that causes their devices to freeze up and restart automatically. According to <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-a-m-series-phones-mysterious-auto-restart-issue/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>SamMobile</em></a>, owners of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m30s/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy M30s</a>,<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m31/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> Galaxy M31</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m31s/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy M31s</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a50/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy A50</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a50s/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy A50s</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a51-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy A51</a> smartphones in India have recently come forward about suffering from this issue.</p>
<p>As per the Galaxy A and M users, their handsets tend to freeze up and hang often. Furthermore, the devices are also plagued by frequent auto restarts as well. These issues are a major nuisance to the users who also claimed that their devices have also gotten stuck in a boot loop before and don&#8217;t go past the South Korean tech giant&#8217;s logo at the startup. Notably, some users that went to Samsung service centers have reportedly been told that they might need to have the motherboards of their smartphones replaced.</p>
<figure id="attachment_375382" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-375382" style="width: 4000px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-375382 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy M51 Celestial Black Featured" width="4000" height="2250" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Samsung-Galaxy-M51-Celestial-Black-Featured-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-375382" class="wp-caption-text">Galaxy M51</figcaption></figure>
<p>This would cost them over 100 US Dollars. The Galaxy M and Galaxy A series are usually known for their mid range smartphones, which is quite popular in India. So it is understandable that not many would go through with the motherboard replacement for that hefty price of repairs that could just be an underlying issue not discovered by the company yet. Hopefully, the brand can acknowledge this issue that could be affecting a number of other customers and offers a fix, or at least, a free of cost repair.</p>

<h2><b>Samsung Galaxy M31s Price Cut India</b></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The South Korean tech giant </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/30/samsung-galaxy-m31s-debuts-with-6-5-inch-infinity-o-display-sony-imx682-64mp-quad-cameras-and-25w-charging/"><span style="font-weight: 400">debuted</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> the Galaxy M31s in India ahead of the Amazon Prime Day sale event. The handset was introduced for ₹19,499 (6GB + 128GB) and ₹21,499 (8GB + 128GB) respectively. But the offline price was ₹1,000 higher. <p><span style="font-weight: 400">With the new ₹1,000 price cut, this phone can be now bought for either ₹18,499 or ₹20,499 from offline stores in India. Interestingly, although </span><a href="https://www.91mobiles.com/hub/samsung-galaxy-m31s-price-cut-in-india/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400">91Mobiles</span></i></a> <span style="font-weight: 400">says this price drop is exclusive to offline channels, the device is being sold at this very same price tag on Amazon India. <p>What is highlighting is that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-2.5">One UI 2.5</a> update changelog for Galaxy M31s shows features like <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/AltZLife"><strong>AlTZLife</strong></a>. Also, the addition of <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-secure-foler"><strong>Secure Folder</strong></a> is the first of its kind for a Galaxy M series device.  For the unware, AltZLife will allow users to switch between normal and private mode by double-pressing the power key. Some of its features include <strong>Quick Switch</strong> and <strong>Content Suggestions</strong>.</p>
<p>Previously, Samsung rolled out an update for Galaxy <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-a51/">A51 </a>and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-a71/">A71</a> that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/10/samsung-introduces-altzlife-quick-switch-content-suggestions-features-for-galaxy-a51-a71/">brought the AlTZLife</a> features to those A-series devices. Besides, Secure Folder is for storing private data, apps, and more. Having said that, the inclusion of these features to Galaxy M31s suggests that the gap between <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-core">One UI Core</a> and fully-loaded <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui">One UI</a> is starting to shrink.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the update for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m31s/">Galaxy M31s</a> also includes features like Bitmoji stickers on <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/AOD">AOD</a>(Always On Display). Additionally, the camera app also gets improved performance to Single Take and Pro Mode. Precisely, features like Pro Video, AR Emoji, AR Doodle, Scene optimizer, SmartScan should work well now.</p>
<p>Anyway, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> is reportedly rolling out the update to countries like India, Russia, and Ukraine. You can download the update by navigating to <strong>Settings-&gt;Software Update-&gt;Download and Install</strong>.</p>

The South Korean company is now reportedly working two new Galaxy M-series phones such as Galaxy M51 (SM-M515F model number) and Galaxy M31s (SM-M317F). It is speculated that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-m51/">Galaxy M51</a> could be a rebranded version of the Galaxy A51. However, it may arrive some changes in design and hardware. The Galaxy M31s moniker suggests that it could be an updated version of the Galaxy M31 that debuted earlier this year. A fresh report on <em>91mobiles </em>has revealed the camera specs and launch timeframe of both devices.</p>
<p>The publication has learned through industry sources that the Galaxy M31s smartphone may debut as early as next week or at the beginning of June. The Galaxy M51 is speculated to debut by the end of June.</p>
<p>The South Korean company may launch it earlier, but it could be made available for purchase by late June or early July. The reason behind it seems to be a slow production due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. The Galaxy M51 and M31s are both expected to come with a rear-facing 64-megapixel quad camera. Hence, it appears that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/03/24/samsung-galaxy-m41-or-m51-renders-appear-with-key-details/">renders of the Galaxy M51 t</a>hat appeared with triple rear cameras a few months ago were incorrect. The main sensor seems to be Samsung’s ISOCELL GW1 64-megapixel lens.</p>

<p>A previous report by <em>Sammobile </em>had revealed the Galaxy M51 and Galaxy M31s will both come with 128 GB of built-in storage. Both devices may also come in 64 GB storage versions. The One UI 2.0 based Android 10 OS will come preinstalled on M51 and M31s. The M51 may also feature an in-screen fingerprint reader.</p>
<p>While the rumor mill has been actively leaking information on Galaxy M51 and Galaxy M31s, Samsung is yet to confirm its existence. Since the handsets are speculated to debut soon, the South Korean company may release their teasers soon.</p>
