Huawei recently launched its two new smartwatches in its home country China, and the devices were available for purchase in the Chinese market since last week.

Now, the new devices, Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro, are getting launched in the European market. Notably, they are the first smartwatches to run the company’s self-developed HarmonyOS.

The smartwatches feature a 1.5-inch AMOLED screen offering a 466 x 466 pixels screen resolution and a 310 PPI pixel density. Under the hood, they are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Both smartwatches have an Always-on display with a number of watch faces to choose from. Further, they are also rated to be water-resistant up to 5 meters. The Pro model in the series comes with a larger case that measures 48mm in diameter and 12.9mm in depth, while the standard model has a 46mm dial and 10.9mm depth case.

The Huawei Watch 4 Pro is powered by a bigger 780mAh battery, compared to the 530mAh battery powering the Watch 4. In terms of build, the standard model has stainless steel, composite fiber, and 3D glass, while the Pro model has titanium, ceramic, and sapphire crystal glass.

In the health and fitness department, this new series of smartwatches is equipped with a heart rate monitor, SpO2 sensor, ECG, skin temperature, stress tracker, arterial stiffness indicator, and respirator health data. It can gather all seven parameters into a one-minute seven-point health overview. It supports over 100 workout modes and an AI running coach.

It also has a fall detection feature that sends SOS in a single tap. Additionally, the Huawei Watch 4 Pro gets LTE connectivity via an eSIM as well as a built-in GPS, which the standard variant lacks.

The Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro will be available for purchase in the European market from 13th June, priced at €449 and €549, respectively. The company says that those who order the device between June 13 and June 27 will get a free pair of FreeBuds 5i.

The standard variant comes in a 46mm stainless casing, whereas the Pro model has a bigger 48mm size with the casing made from TC4 titanium alloy that is said to be three times stronger than regular titanium.

Huawei’s Watch 4 series has been revealed in an early hands-on video leak. This video provides a detailed look at the new smartwatch’s design, including both Pro and non-Pro variants.

A Closer Look at the Huawei Watch 4 Series

The leaked footage first showcases the Huawei Watch 4 Pro from a side view, offering a clear look at its functional button and rotating crown. Despite its slightly thicker profile compared to its predecessor, the watch has a robust and solid feel. Contrasting to the images presented at the initial launch event, this hands-on reveals a wider watch face with slimmed-down bezels on all sides.

They are water-resistant up to 5ATM and have substantial battery lives, with the Pro version lasting up to 4.5 or 21 days in ultra-long battery life mode, and the regular Watch 4 up to 3 or 14 days, respectively.

It is set to take place on May 18th at 5:30 pm local time. Huawei has teased two devices on the microblogging platform Weibo that are set to debut at the upcoming event.

At the upcoming Summer Product Launch event, Huawei is confirmed to launch a new MatePad tablet and Watch 4 series smartwatches. The poster does not reveal the name of the upcoming tablet and it hints that it will have a slim profile. However, as per the rumor mill, the device will be dubbed the Huawei MatePad Air. It will reportedly be powered by a Snapdragon 888 SoC and be backed by an 8,200mAh battery unit with support for 40W fast charging. 

As for the Huawei Watch 4 series, it is seen in a Blue color with a rotating bezel and a physical button. The teaser poster reveals that it will come with planetary watch faces. The Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro have already debuted in the European market, hence, the Chinese variants are expected to pack the same specifications and features.  The wearable devices are equipped with a heart rate monitor, SpO2 sensor, ECG, skin temperature, stress tracker, arterial stiffness indicator, and respirator health data. Huawei is working on new smartwatches that it plans to launch soon. It’s being called the Huawei Watch 4 series. So far, a few leaked tidbits have revealed that the watches will be made with Zircon material and they could feature satellite connectivity.

Now, two of these models called the Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro have appeared on WiFi Alliance with model numbers ARC-AL00, MDS-Al10, and MDS-AL00. The certification authority has disclosed that the Huawei Watch 4 is identified as ARC-AL00, while the Huawei Watch 4 Pro comes in two models. The codenames for the watches are derived from the terms “Arch” and “Medusa,” which correspond to the standard and Pro versions, respectively.

In addition to that, the Huawei Watch 4 has also been spotted on China’s 3C certification website. The listing mentions that the smartwatch will be capable of LTE 4G connectivity. Additionally, it has a charging rate of 5W.

From the above-mentioned information, we can gather that the Huawei Watch 4 series smartwatches will feature 2.4GHz WiFi, 4G LTE connectivity (likely digital SIM), and 5W charging speeds. Along with that, there are also rumors of the watch having satellite connectivity and it is said to have a unique Zircon material around the dial.

For those unaware, the Zircon material is referred to is four times more durable than steel and resistant to aging, meaning that the watch will retain its aesthetic appearance for a long time. It’s anticipated that Huawei will utilize this material in the high-end edition of the Watch 4, which will likely make it a costly offering in the market. No leaks have appeared regarding the design and other features of the smartwatch.

Huawei, the Chinese tech giant, is planning to launch its Huawei P60 series of flagship smartphones and the Huawei Mate X3 flagship foldable in March, and a recent online advertisement shown in the country has detailed that Huawei will be hosting a launch event on March 23 to unveil the brand’s latest devices.

The advertisement was screenshotted by the Weibo user, even if there is a westerly wind, and the advert states that Huawei is holding its annual spring launch event to unveil the brand’s latest products to the country, and the highlight is its flagship Huawei P60 series.

Earlier this year, Huawei teased that the Huawei P60 series and Huawei Mate X3 foldable will be launched together in March 2023, so it is safe to say that the Huawei Mate X3 will be launched at the March 23 launch event as well.

Besides, the screenshot of the online advert, the prominent Chinese leakster, the factory manager is classmate Guan, also posted on Weibo saying that Huawei will be holding a launch event on March 23 to reveal its latest devices for 2023. 

The leakster also quotes his previous post saying that Huawei will launch not only smartphones at the event, but also smart tech ecosystem devices as well such as the Huawei FreeBuds 5 wireless earphones, the Huawei Watch 4 smartwatch, and the Huawei Band 7 smart fitness band.

From our previous reporting, it was reported that the upcoming Huawei P60 Pro will arrive with a 6.6-inch OLED display that will produce a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1440p resolution. Packing a 5,000mAh battery, the smartphone will support 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC but it will be capped to 4G only, with no 5G connectivity due to restrictions imposed on Huawei.
