<p>The smartwatches feature a 1.5-inch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amoled">AMOLED screen</a> offering a 466 x 466 pixels screen resolution and a 310 PPI pixel density. Under the hood, they are powered by the Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/07/20/qualcomm-snapdragon-w5-plus-gen-1-soc-launch/">Snapdragon W5 Gen 1</a> processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.</p>

<p>Both smartwatches have an Always-on display with a number of watch faces to choose from. Further, they are also rated to be water-resistant up to 5 meters. The Pro model in the series comes with a larger case that measures 48mm in diameter and 12.9mm in depth, while the standard model has a 46mm dial and 10.9mm depth case.</p>

It can gather all seven parameters into a one-minute seven-point health overview. It supports over 100 workout modes and an AI running coach.</p>

<p>It also has a fall detection feature that sends SOS in a single tap. Additionally, the Huawei Watch 4 Pro gets LTE connectivity via an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/esim">eSIM</a> as well as a built-in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gps">GPS</a>, which the standard variant lacks.</p>

<p>In the realm of wearable technology, health-related features have become increasingly important. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/category/apple">Apple</a> has long been rumored to be working on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/05/03/apple-watch-blood-sugar-monitoring/">non-invasive blood sugar monitoring for its Apple Watch</a>, but it seems that Huawei has beaten them to the punch. The recently unveiled <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-watch-4/">Huawei Watch 4</a> boasts a groundbreaking feature that detects the risk of high blood sugar, marking a significant advancement in wearable health technology.</p>

<h3>Huawei tested over 800,000 blood sugar metrics over 100,000 hours</h3>

<p>For individuals living with diabetes, managing blood sugar levels is crucial. Traditionally, diabetics have relied on painful and costly blood tests performed multiple times a day using lancets and glucometers. Huawei&#8217;s innovation offers a non-invasive alternative that monitors blood sugar levels through a comprehensive analysis of ten health indicators in just 60 seconds. While the Huawei Watch 4 does not provide on-demand blood sugar readings, it offers timely alerts to help users make informed decisions about their diet and sugar intake.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="800" height="307" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/translated.webp?x44794" alt="Huawei Watch 4" class="wp-image-538543" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/translated.webp 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/translated-300x115.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/translated-768x295.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/translated-696x267.webp 696w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure></div>

<p>Huawei&#8217;s achievement is the result of extensive research and collaboration with reputable medical institutions. Through rigorous testing of over 800,000 blood sugar data points over 100,000 hours, Huawei has developed a reliable and accurate health monitoring system. The Huawei Watch 4 tracks heart rate, pulse wave characteristics, and other key indicators to assess the risk of hyperglycemia.</p>

<p>To utilize this feature, users must participate in a blood sugar health research program conducted by a third-party medical institution and be above 18 years of age. It is important to note that the Huawei Watch 4 is not classified as a medical device; rather, the information it provides serves as a reference. Additionally, individuals with type 1 diabetes are not advised to use this technology, as their pancreas does not produce insulin. However, type 2 diabetics, who experience reduced insulin production over time and insulin resistance, can benefit from the Huawei Watch 4&#8217;s blood sugar monitoring feature.</p>

<p>Initially, this cutting-edge feature will be limited to models sold in the Chinese market. The Huawei Watch 4 boasts a 1.5-inch <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/amoled">AMOLED</a> display and is powered by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos-3.1">HarmonyOS 3.1</a>. It offers various health-related functions, including blood oxygen readings and electrocardiogram (<a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ecg">ECG</a>) analysis. The device provides up to three days of battery life and is water-resistant up to 5ATM. Different models and colors are available to suit individual preferences.</p>

The device is slated for the official global release in June, and Chinese release on May 18th. Huawei&#8217;s Watch 4 series has been revealed in an early hands-on video leak. This video provides a detailed look at the new smartwatch&#8217;s design, including both Pro and non-Pro variants.</p>

<h2>A Closer Look at the Huawei Watch 4 Series</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Huawei Watch 4 series hands-on video <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/HUAWEI?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#HUAWEI</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/HuaweiWatch4?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#HuaweiWatch4</a> <a href="https://t.co/AEJFrV77dP">pic.twitter.com/AEJFrV77dP</a></p>&mdash; Soumyakanti Ray (@2010sroy) <a href="https://twitter.com/2010sroy/status/1657338605600407556?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 13, 2023</a></blockquote><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
</div></figure>

<p>The leaked footage first showcases the Huawei Watch 4 Pro from a side view, offering a clear look at its functional button and rotating crown. Despite its slightly thicker profile compared to its predecessor, the watch has a robust and solid feel. Contrasting to the images presented at the initial launch event, this hands-on reveals a wider watch face with slimmed-down bezels on all sides.</p>

<p>One of the standout features is the bright display, which offers clear visibility, even at a glance. The new variant also appears to sport a brand-new spherical glass that&#8217;s slightly curved. The strap, made of two different materials, including nylon, adds to the overall design aesthetics.</p>

<p>The smaller version of the Watch 4 series also gets some screen time. This model appears to be more female-friendly with a shiny frame, hinting at the use of stainless steel. It closely resembles the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-watch-gt-3/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei Watch GT 3</a> Elegant edition but with some differences, including its strap – a crisp, white leather band.</p>

<h2>Huawei Watch 4 series specifications</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="575" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-series-1.jpeg?x44794" alt="Huawei-Watch-4-series" class="wp-image-536831" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-series-1.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-series-1-300x168.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-series-1-768x431.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-series-1-696x391.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-series-1-748x420.jpeg 748w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The Huawei Watch 4 series is distinguished by three unique versions, each coming with a different strap: black fluoroelastomer, titanium alloy, and brown leather. The series highlight, the Watch 4 Pro, touts a 48mm titanium case, and a 1.5-inch LTPO <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/amoled/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AMOLED</a> display shielded by sapphire glass, all in a lightweight design of merely 48 grams. The slightly smaller Watch 4 comes with a 46mm stainless steel case. Both models ensure seamless communication with an integrated microphone and speaker, Bluetooth calling, and e-SIM support.</p>

<p>The Watch 4 Pro incorporates Huawei&#8217;s TruSeen 5.0 technology, delivering health monitoring functions like arterial stiffness detection, skin temperature detection, ECG, SpO2 monitoring, heart rate monitoring, and TruSleep tracking. Both the Pro and regular versions have a &#8220;One-minute seven-point health overview&#8221; feature, summarizing seven crucial health metrics for quick review in the Huawei Health App.</p>

<p>In addition to eSIM compatibility and built-in GPS, these <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartwatches/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">watches</a> offer practical modes for golf driving range and free diving. They are water-resistant up to 5ATM and have substantial battery lives, with the Pro version lasting up to 4.5 or 21 days in ultra-long battery life mode, and the regular Watch 4 up to 3 or 14 days, respectively.</p>

They are also water-resistant up to 5 meters.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> is set to unveil its latest smartwatch, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-watch-4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei Watch 4</a>, at its upcoming Huawei Summer 2023 product launch conference on May 18th. Ahead of the launch, official photos of the device have been released, revealing a circular design with a more rounded overall shape and a natural transition between the dial and the bezel. What sets the Huawei Watch 4 apart is its rotating crown, which gives it a more mechanical watch-like appearance.</p>

<h2>Huawei Watch 4&#8217;s Design Features a Rotating Crown for a Classic Look with Modern Functionality</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="690" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-teaser.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Watch 4 teaser" class="wp-image-535456" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-teaser.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-teaser-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-teaser-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Huawei-Watch-4-teaser-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Huawei Watch 4 will come with a range of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/09/huawei-watch-4-watch-4-pro-get-certified/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">new and improved features</a>, including support for BeiDou satellite messaging. This technology called &#8220;Breaking the Sky,&#8221; will allow users to send emergency communication and distress calls even without network coverage. This could be a game-changer for people who enjoy outdoor activities, as it provides an extra layer of safety and security.</p>

<p>Another exciting feature of the Huawei Watch 4 is its rumored non-invasive blood glucose monitoring, with a recognition rate of over 85%. If true, this would put Huawei ahead of Apple, which has been working on similar technology but may not officially launch it for another seven years. This could be a significant development for people with diabetes, as it would allow them to monitor their blood glucose levels without the need for painful finger pricks.</p>

<p>The Huawei Watch 4 will also feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/05/huawei-watch-4-zircon-material/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">unique zirconia material for the dial</a>, providing excellent durability and anti-crack extension properties. This makes it an excellent option for anyone who wants a durable, long-lasting smartwatch that can withstand the wear and tear of daily use.</p>

<p>Overall, the Huawei Watch 4 promises to be an exciting addition to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartwatch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">smartwatch</a> market, with its innovative features and design. As Huawei continues to push the boundaries of technology, it will be interesting to see how the Watch 4 stacks up against its competitors. According to reports, Huawei will also launch a new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/08/huawei-unveil-tablets-conference-may-18/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MatePad Air tablet</a>, Matebook E 2 in 1 notebook, and MateBook X 2023 series.</p>

<p>Now, two of these models called the Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro have appeared on WiFi Alliance with model numbers ARC-AL00, MDS-Al10, and MDS-AL00. The certification authority has disclosed that the Huawei Watch 4 is identified as ARC-AL00, while the Huawei Watch 4 Pro comes in two models. The codenames for the watches are derived from the terms &#8220;Arch&#8221; and &#8220;Medusa,&#8221; which correspond to the standard and Pro versions, respectively.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="672" height="373" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-4-3C-certificate.webp?x44794" alt="Huawei" class="wp-image-521156" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-4-3C-certificate.webp 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-4-3C-certificate-300x167.webp 300w" sizes="(max-width: 672px) 100vw, 672px" /></figure></div>

<p>In addition to that, the Huawei Watch 4 has also been spotted on China&#8217;s 3C certification website. The listing mentions that the smartwatch will be capable of LTE 4G connectivity. Additionally, it has a charging rate of 5W.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640-1.webp?x44794" alt="Huawei" class="wp-image-521157" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640-1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640-1-300x188.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640-1-768x480.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640-1-696x435.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640-1-672x420.webp 672w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>From the above-mentioned information, we can gather that the Huawei Watch 4 series smartwatches will feature 2.4GHz WiFi, 4G LTE connectivity (likely digital SIM), and 5W charging speeds. Along with that, there are also rumors of the watch having satellite connectivity and it is said to have a unique Zircon material around the dial.</p>

<p>For those unaware, the Zircon material is referred to is four times more durable than steel and resistant to aging, meaning that the watch will retain its aesthetic appearance for a long time. It&#8217;s anticipated that Huawei will utilize this material in the high-end edition of the Watch 4, which will likely make it a costly offering in the market. No leaks have appeared regarding the design and other features of the smartwatch. </p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a>, the Chinese tech giant, is planning to launch its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/01/23/huawei-p60-pro-specs-leaked/">Huawei P60</a> series of flagship smartphones and the Huawei Mate X3 flagship foldable in March, and a recent online advertisement shown in the country has detailed that Huawei will be hosting a launch event on March 23 to unveil the brand’s latest devices.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="395" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March-23.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-520573" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March-23.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March-23-300x172.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /><figcaption>Huawei March 27 Launch Event Advert, Source: Even if there is a westerly wind on Weibo</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The advertisement was screenshotted by the Weibo user, <a href="https://weibo.com/2557459351/Mw2Uq0El6?refer_flag=1001030103_">even if there is a westerly wind</a>, and the advert states that Huawei is holding its annual spring launch event to unveil the brand’s latest products to the country, and the highlight is its flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/01/23/huawei-p60-pro-specs-leaked/">Huawei P60 series</a>.</p>

<p>Earlier this year, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> teased that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/01/23/huawei-p60-pro-specs-leaked/">Huawei P60 series</a> and Huawei Mate X3 foldable will be launched together in March 2023, so it is safe to say that the Huawei Mate X3 will be launched at the March 23 launch event as well.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="630" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March-630x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-520575" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March-630x1024.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March-185x300.jpg 185w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March-258x420.jpg 258w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-P60-March.jpg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px" /><figcaption>Huawei March Launch Teaser, Source: Huawei China</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Besides, the screenshot of the online advert, the prominent Chinese leakster, <a href="https://weibo.com/6084203417/Mw29aa9SE">the factory manager is classmate Guan</a>, also posted on Weibo saying that Huawei will be holding a launch event on March 23 to reveal its latest devices for 2023.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The leakster also quotes his previous post saying that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/">Huawei</a> will launch not only smartphones at the event, but also smart tech ecosystem devices as well such as the Huawei FreeBuds 5 wireless earphones, the Huawei Watch 4 smartwatch, and the Huawei Band 7 smart fitness band.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/01/23/huawei-p60-pro-specs-leaked/">From our previous reporting</a>, it was reported that the upcoming Huawei P60 Pro will arrive with a 6.6-inch OLED display that will produce a 120Hz refresh rate and a 1440p resolution. Packing a 5,000mAh battery, the smartphone will support 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC but it will be capped to 4G only, with no 5G connectivity due to restrictions imposed on Huawei.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640.jpeg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-520125" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1024x640.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-300x188.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-768x480.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1536x960.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-696x435.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1068x668.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-1920x1200.jpeg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche-672x420.jpeg 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Huawei-Watch-3-Porsche.jpeg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>HUAWEI Watch GT 3 Porsche Design</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Huawei Watch 4 will feature a unique Zircon material around the dial, which is known for its durability and resistance to crack propagation. This material is four times harder than steel and doesn&#8217;t age with time, ensuring that the watch maintains its design aesthetics for an extended period. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> is expected to use this material in the premium version of the Watch 4, making it an expensive addition to the market.</p>

<p>Apart from its unique design, the Huawei Watch 4 is also set to revolutionize the way we communicate. The watch will feature <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/satellite/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">satellite communication</a> capabilities, allowing users to send SMS messages without relying on a mobile network. This is a significant development, as it makes the Huawei Watch 4 the first smartwatch in the industry to incorporate this feature. According to a recent leak, Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro passed WiFi certification with the codenames ARC (Arch) and MDS (Medusa) respectively.</p>

<p>While Huawei has not yet confirmed the launch date for the Watch 4, we are expecting some significant improvements over its predecessor.</p>
