On the other end, the USB-A port runs on the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard. Because of this interface limit, speeds on the USB-A side are capped at 1,000 MB/s for reads and 900 MB/s for writes across all storage sizes.

It is worth keeping in mind that while 2,000 MB/s is a high ceiling for a drive of this size, you will need a host device that specifically supports USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 to actually see those speeds. Many current devices, including Apple’s entire Mac lineup, do not support this specific standard and will fall back to 10Gbps (1,000 MB/s) speeds even when using the USB-C port.

Beyond standard file transfers, Lexar is pointing to the drive as a tool for mobile backups. It works directly with Android devices, iPads, and recent iPhones with USB-C. The company also provides a companion app designed to automatically back up photos and videos from a phone when the drive is connected.

The Nano SSD measures 20×13×5mm and weighs just 5 grams. It comes with 512GB of storage and supports USB 3.1 Gen1 with read and write speeds of up to 450MB/s. The device includes built-in fingerprint recognition and can store up to 20 fingerprints. It allows users to unlock the drive with a single touch, without requiring any apps or software installation. Twopan highlights that this plug-and-play functionality offers a convenient solution for users seeking fast and secure access to their files.

The Nano SSD is built using an aluminum-plastic composite and carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Twopan says it can survive drops from up to 10 meters. The device is small enough to stay attached to a keychain and is compatible with phone cases up to 3mm thick.

Twopan is crowdfunding its Nano SSD on Indiegogo, offering the standard version at $78 during the campaign, down from its regular price of $119.99. It also comes in a Leather Case version priced at $129.99. Shipments are scheduled to begin by the end of June 2025.

Huawei has introduced the Kunling eKitStor Shield 200, a high-performance portable SSD engineered for professionals and outdoor users. It features USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 connectivity via USB-C, enabling transfer speeds of up to 2000MB/s.

The drive comes in 1TB and 2TB variants, priced at 769 yuan ($106) and 1,399 yuan ($192) respectively, while a 4TB model is also listed as coming soon. Buyers can choose between Starlight Silver and Dimming Gold finishes.

The Shield 200 leverages USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 over a USB-C interface to deliver blazing-fast transfer speeds of up to 2000MB/s. Last week, Samsung launched the T7 Shield, its most durable portable SSD. Now the company has unveiled another durability-focused product known as the Samsung PRO Endurance microSD card. This latest card is designed to be used in devices like security cameras and doorbell cameras which require continuous capture and playback.

Devices like Security cameras continuously record and write data to the card. The regular memory cards cannot withstand this process for long. Hence, they need to be replaced every couple of years. This is not the case with the Samsung PRO Endurance, this microSD card is exclusively designed to meet the demand for continuous video recording.

Samsung claims that its new memory card can last up to 16 years (140,160 hours) of continuous recording time. Compared to the previous speed-focused cards, PRO Endurance series memory cards can last up to 33x longer, saving recurrent replacement costs and providing better reliability for continuous video recording.

The new microSD card is designed to provide stable performance even when subjected to extreme situations. The card comes with Samsung’s improved “six-proof durability” which makes it wear out and drop-proof and resistant to water, magnets, X-rays, and extreme temperatures.

The card measures 15 x 11 x 1mm and weighs approximately 0.25g. It comes with a write speed of up to 40Mb/s and a read speed of up to 100Mb/s. The operating temperature of the card is -25°C to 85°C. The new Pro endurance microSD card has a Class 10 rating, along with UHS-III and V30 classifications for video speeds. The card is also capable of handling Full HD and even 4K video recordings.

Samsung Pro Endurance microSD cards come in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB versions. The 32GB version is priced at $10.99, whereas the 64GB version costs $14.99. The 128GB and 256GB versions of the memory card cost $27.99 and $54.99, respectively. The card is available for purchase through Amazon.
