A new update from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station suggests that Redmi’s flagship phones may launch before Xiaomi’s this year.

Redmi K100 series launch timeframe tipped

As seen in DCS’s Weibo post, the Redmi K100 series may be released ahead of schedule in Q3. Reports have revealed that the Redmi K100 Pro Max will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which is expected to launch officially in September. Therefore, it is likely that the Redmi K100 series may debut in the same month.

The same source has previously claimed that the Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max will also debut in September. By launching the Redmi K100 series and Xiaomi 18 series in the same month, Xiaomi may end up cannibalizing sales of both lineups. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the company pushes the Xiaomi 18 lineup launch to October this year.

As far as the Redmi lineup is concerned, it may include the Redmi K100 and K100 Pro Max powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipsets, respectively. Some vague rumors suggest that the lineup may include a mysterious third mode model, but its details are scarce.

In the comments section of the same Weibo post, DCS further revealed that Redmi may unveil new products in Q4. While the tipster did not specifically mention what is launching during that period, it is likely that the Redmi Turbo 6 series may debut in Q4.

Redmi K100 Pro Max moniker could be dropped

As seen in the screenshot above, reliable tipster Experience More claims that there may not be a Q11U model after all, but instead a Q11X device. Earlier reports suggested that the Redmi K100 Pro Max carried the internal engineering codename Q11U. However, the latest information indicates that Redmi may have replaced the project internally and could launch it under a different branding.

To recall, the Redmi K90 Pro Max reportedly carried the internal codename P11U. Therefore, many expected its successor to follow a similar naming structure with the Q11U codename.

The tipster’s latest claim suggests that the company could launch Q11X instead of Q11U. This has led to speculation that Redmi may drop the “Pro Max” branding for the upcoming flagship altogether. At present, it remains unclear whether the device will debut as the Redmi K100 Ultra or under another name entirely.

Hopefully, additional leaks and reports emerging in the coming weeks will provide more clarity regarding the final branding of the device.

Based on previous reports, the Q11X model has already been spotted running early builds of HyperOS 3 that are reportedly optimized for 2nm architecture. Mysterious Redmi K100 series phone’s details emerge

As per the leak, the Redmi K100 series phone will feature a massive 7-inch display offering a 2K resolution. It will draw power from a huge 10,000mAh+ battery and come equipped with other flagship features, such as an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, a metal frame, and an IP68/IP69-rated dust and water-resistant chassis.

Previous leaks from the same source suggested that the Redmi K100 Pro Max would be equipped with the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip. However, the latest leak mentions the presence of a 3nm chipset instead.

At present, rumors do not point to a new Snapdragon 8-series 3nm chip from Qualcomm this year. Both the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro are said to be built on a 2nm process.

On the other hand, there are two other 3nm chips reportedly in development. These include the Dimensity 9500 Plus, which is expected to be an overclocked version of the existing Dimensity 9500, and Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 chipset. As far as Qualcomm is concerned, the existing Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is also a 3nm offering.

Reports have revealed that the Redmi K100 is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display and a battery capacity of around 8,500mAh. Therefore, the mysterious Redmi K100 series phone mentioned by the tipster appears to be neither the K100 nor the K100 Pro Max. This raises the possibility that the lineup could include a third model with the above-mentioned specifications. It may potentially feature either the Dimensity 9500 Plus or the Xring O3 chipset, although the latter currently appears more likely.

A couple of weeks ago, DCS claimed that the 12GB+256GB variants of the Redmi K100 Pro Max, iQOO 16, and OnePlus 16 could see a significant price hike to around 5,000 Yuan (~$730). These devices are said to feature Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset.

Now, the tipster has also shared details about the Redmi K100. According to DCS, the device may arrive with Qualcomm’s previous-generation flagship chip, likely the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The tipster added that smartphones in this segment could start in the “4K” price range in China, which likely refers to around 4,000 Yuan (~$585). This price could apply to the base model, which may feature a 12GB+256GB configuration.

For comparison, the Redmi K90 launched last year at 2,599 Yuan (~$365) for the 12GB+256GB variant. If the rumored pricing turns out to be accurate, the Redmi K100 could see a price increase of nearly 54 percent compared to its predecessor. Such a jump would push the K-series further into flagship pricing territory, moving away from its traditional affordable flagship positioning.

The rest of the Redmi K100 series specifications are yet to be revealed. Barely four months after the launch of the Redmi K90 series, we are here to give you the very first details on the Redmi K100. 

According to details uncovered by XiaomiTime, the company is already preparing its next generation of flagship-style phones under the Redmi K100 series. There are currently two models in the works, called the Redmi K100 and K100 Pro Max. 

Both devices are currently in early development, but XiaomiTime has managed to extract the internal codenames and model numbers of the devices. The K100 is said to carry the codename “athens” with the internal designation Q11, while the Pro Max version reportedly goes by “songyuan” and Q11X. 

A rebrand as Poco F9 Pro / Ultra 

If Xiaomi follows its usual strategy, these devices will not stay exclusive to China. Previous Redmi K-series phones have often been rebranded for global markets under Xiaomi’s Poco label, and the same pattern is expected this time. 

The current speculation is that the Redmi K100 could eventually launch internationally as the Poco F9 Pro, while the K100 Pro Max might arrive as the Poco F9 Ultra. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but it would be consistent with how Xiaomi has handled similar releases in the past.

One concrete detail that has emerged concerns the processors. Both phones are expected to use Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chips. The Redmi K100 is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the more premium K100 Pro Max could debut with an even newer platform, currently referred to as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
