In terms of audio, the K80 Ultra features what Xiaomi calls “Master-Class Coaxial Symmetrical Dual Speakers.” Each speaker includes both tweeter and woofer units in a coaxial structure, supported by aerospace-grade domes and an ultra-smooth diaphragm. A closer look at the camera island reveals that the K80 Ultra is equipped with an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel dual-camera system.

The Redmi K Pad has a minimalist design on the back, featuring has a single camera with an LED flash. According to reports, the device will be pitted against the likes of the iPad Mini 7, Red Magic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro, and Lenovo Legion Y700 (Gen 4).

The Redmi K80 Ultra and K Pad were recently spotted with the Dimensity 9400 Plus chip on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. Both devices were spotted with 16GB of RAM and Android 15.

As per reports, the K80 Ultra will arrive with specs like a 6.83-nich LTPS OLED 1.5K display, a 7,500mAh battery with 100W charging, a metal middle frame, and an IP68-rated body. Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi today confirmed that the K80 Ultra smartphone will launch in China later this month. Shortly after the announcement, the device has now surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, revealing key performance metrics.

According to Geekbench, the K80 Ultra (model number 25060RK16C) is powered by an octa-core processor featuring a prime core clocked at 3.73GHz, three performance cores at 3.30GHz, and four efficiency cores at 2.40GHz. Graphics duties are handled by the Immortalis-G925 GPU.

Both the CPU and GPU setups suggest that the chip powering the Redmi K80 Ultra is the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus. It’s a flagship chip, and the benchmark scores are accordingly. 

In single-core performance, the K80 Ultra manages 2679 points, while its multi-core score hits 8358. The unit tested is paired with 16GB of RAM and runs on Android 15, likely skinned with Xiaomi’s HyperOS.

Rest of the specs

Aside from the chip, the phone has also received approval from China’s 3C authority. The listing reveals that it may ship with a 120W fast charger, though the device itself may cap out at 100W charging speed. The phone is said to house a 7500mAh battery, which no surprise, will be a silicon-carbon battery.

Other rumored specs include a 6.8-inch LTPS OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 50MP triple camera setup. The build may also feature a metal middle frame with IP68 or IP69 dust and water resistance ratings.

As with earlier Ultra models, the K80 Ultra is expected to stay within the Chinese market. However, Xiaomi is likely to rebrand it for international markets, with the Xiaomi 15T Pro tipped to be its global counterpart sometime in Q3 2025.

According to the listing, the phone carries a typical battery capacity of 7270mAh. Given how phone makers tend to round up for marketing purposes, it’s reasonable to expect Xiaomi to promote this as a 7500mAh battery.

In terms of the chipset, the Redmi K80 Ultra is expected to debut as one of the first phones to feature the Dimensity 9400 Plus chip, an overclocked version of the D9400. The leak also claims that there will be a high-end version, although it does not specify what this entails. In November 2024, Redmi launched the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro smartphones in China. The brand is expected to expand the K80 series by introducing the Redmi K80 Ultra later this year. A recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station seems to have revealed the key specifications of the K80 Ultra months ahead of its official launch.

Redmi previously unveiled the Redmi K70 Ultra, featuring the Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset, in July 2024. This timeline suggests the Redmi K80 Ultra will launch around the same time this year. While the tipster did not explicitly mention the name of the device in the latest leak, it seems he may have shared crucial details about the K80 Ultra well in advance of its arrival.

As per DCS’ leak, the current engineering prototype of the Redmi K80 Ultra has a flat OLED screen with slim bezels on all four sides. It is said to support a 1.5K resolution and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The successor edition, like the K70 Ultra, will have a metal middle frame and an IP68-rated dustproof and water-resistant chassis, making it a durable device.

The K80 Ultra will feature the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset. The leak also indicates that the K80 Ultra will have a battery capacity of at least 6,500mAh. Given that the predecessor houses a 5,500mAh battery, this will be a significant upgrade.

Another leak by the same source reveals that iQOO, Realme, and OnePlus are also planning to launch Dimensity 9400 Plus-powered smartphones by mid-2025. The tentative names of these devices are iQOO Neo 10S Pro, Realme Neo 7 Pro, and OnePlus Ace 5s. Among these, the Realme and OnePlus offerings are expected to feature a 1.5K resolution OLED panel with a flight design, a metal middle frame, a glass / fiberglass body, a decent primary camera, and a battery of around 7,000mAh+ capacity. While the Realme device will have an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, the OnePlus product will have an optical-type fingerprint scanner. It seems that the tipster also revealed that the iQOO Neo 10S Pro could be the first phone to debut with the D9400+ chip.

MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 9400 chipset in October. The Vivo X200 series and Oppo Find X8 lineup that debuted in the same month are the first phones to feature the new chip. According to a recent leak, Oppo might introduce the Find X8S phone, which will feature the upcoming Dimensity 9400+, in April or May 2025. While detailed information about the new chip is not known, it is believed to be an overclocked version of the existing D9400 SoC.

The above leak reveals that the Redmi K80 Ultra will also feature the Dimensity 9400 Plus. Performance-focused flagship phones from other brands, such as iQOO, OnePlus, Realme, and Honor, will rival the K80U, according to the leak.

While Honor’s offering will have the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip onboard, the other flagships are expected to feature the D9400+ chip. Given that the brand recently launched the Honor GT with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 onboard, the official name of this device could be the Honor GT Pro.

iQOO is expected to unveil the iQOO Neo 10S Pro, which will come equipped with the Dimensity 9400+ chip. OnePlus’ D9400+ offering could be an Ace 5-series phone. As of this writing, it is difficult to deduce whether the Realme’s D9400+ offering will be a GT-series or a Neo-series phone.

In the Weibo post, the Redmi K80 Ultra and the Xiaom Civi 5 Pro will house an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display. Apparently, the Chinese tech giant is currently testing this sensor for the Civi 5 Pro and K80 Ultra models. So you’re getting a better sensor for fingerprint security over the predecessors, which are the Civi 4 and K70 series.

Back in October, we covered a list of reasons why the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is better for smartphone security. These sensors can create 3D images of your fingerprints, over the 2D mapping of optical scanners. These are also faster and can read through wet, oily, or dirty fingers as well.
