The Samsung Galaxy F62 is the company’s most affordable smartphone with a flagship chipset. The handset made its global debut in India in mid-February. Now, almost two months after its release, this phone has been discounted for a limited time in the country.

Samsung launched the Galaxy F62 in two storage variants and three color versions (Laser Green, Laser Blue, and Laser Grey). The device is priced at ₹23,999 and 25,999 for the 6GB + 128GB and the 8GB + 128GB storage configurations respectively.

But now, according to a report by 91Mobiles, the handset has been discounted for a limited time across offline stores in India. The price of both the variants has been dropped by ₹2,000.

Hence, interested customers can purchase the Galaxy F62 for either ₹21,999 (6GB + 128GB) or ₹23,999 (8GB + 128GB) up until April 19. This offer is applicable to all three colors. Interestingly, this discount is not available online.

That said, the highlights of the Samsung Galaxy F62 includes an Exynos 9825 SoC, 6.7-inch sAMOLED+ Infinity-O (centered punch-hole) FHD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) display, 7,000mAh battery, 25W fast charging, 64MP (wide) + 12MP (ultra-wide) + 5MP (macro) + 5MP (depth) quad-camera setup, 32MP selfie camera, and One UI Core 3.1 based on Android 11.

Samsung started releasing incredible battery phones. We are not talking about good battery phones with 5000 mAh like the concurrence, but devices with mammoth 7000 mAh batteries that can even provide four days of battery life on a single charge with moderate usage. The handsets we are talking about are the Samsung Galaxy F62 and the Samsung Galaxy M51. Unfortunately, they do not have 5G connectivity, but their battery life is amazing. Here is a comparison between these two battery phones in which we also brought the Xiaomi Mi 10i just in case you are looking for a 5G battery phone in the same price range.

Design

The most attractive design is offered by the Samsung Galaxy F62, in my honest opinion. The phone has a less invasive camera module with the same color as the rear cover. But unlike the Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G, it does not come with a glass back. The Gorilla Glass 5 rear side of the Xiaomi Mi 10i provides a more premium feel. Further, the Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is a thinner phone. None of these devices has a premium design, unlike flagship phones, but they are not disappointing in terms of aesthetics.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy F62 and the Galaxy M52 have the same display: a 6.7-inch panel with the Super AMOLED Plus technology and a Full HD+ resolution. It is actually a better display than Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G and it has an in-display fingerprint scanner. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G provides a higher 120 Hz refresh rate which is great for gamers and it has the HDR10 certification for better image quality on streaming services.

Specs & Software

If you need the best performance, then you should go for the Samsung Galaxy F62. Despite not being powered by a Qualcomm chipset, it has a more powerful SoC: the Exynos 9825. But unfortunately, you do not get 5G connectivity with the Galaxy F62. If you want 5G, you must choose the Xiaomi Mi 10i equipped with a Snapdragon 750G SoC, up to 8 GB of RAM, and UFS 2.2 native storage. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is actually more powerful than the Galaxy M51.

Camera

The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has the best main camera: a 108 MP sensor with an f/1.8 focal aperture. The Samsung Galaxy F62 and Galaxy M52 feature better secondary sensors (ultrawide, macro, and depth) and they have the same camera departments. They also come with better selfie cameras.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy F62 and Galaxy M51 pack the same huge 7000 mAh battery, and the battery life should be similar. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has a smaller battery and a shorter battery life, but it charges faster.

Price

The starting prices of the Samsung Galaxy F62 and Samsung Galaxy M51 are €270/$320 and €320/$379. The Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G starts from just €250/$296. If we consider the whole specs sheets, Samsung Galaxy F62 is the best one especially due to its powerful chipset. Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G has a better camera and 5G, but a smaller battery and an inferior display to both its rivals.

Samsung is known for delivering regular and prompt updates to its smartphones. Thus, it is no surprise that the tech giant has pushed a new software update for the Galaxy F62. The Samsung Galaxy F62 was first introduced just last week and only went on sale in India for the first time yesterday.

The new update arrives with the firmware number E625FDDU1AUB4 and has a file size of about 180MB. The changelog shows that the update brings some improvements to the phone’s camera stability and performance. It also delivers some enhancement to the overall device performance. The update is already rolling out to some units via OTA. But if you don’t get the update, you can manually check for the update manually by heading to the phone’s Settings > Software update menu.

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy F62 sports a 6.7-inch sAMOLED+ display with an Infinity-O design with Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display has a 20:9 aspect ratio, 420nits brightness, 1000000:1 contrast ratio, and up to 110 percent NTSC color gamut. The device is powered by the Exynos 9825 SoC paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The phone sports a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies housed inside a punch-hole opening at the front. At the rear, the Galaxy F62 features a quad-camera setup made up of a 64MP primary, a 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro, and a 5MP depth of field sensor. Other features onboard the device include a side-mounted fingerprint reader and a monstrous 7,000mAh battery charged through a USB-C port at up to 25W.

The premium mid-range smartphone starts at Rs.23,999 ($330) while the 8GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 25,999 ($360). The phone is sold only in India at the moment. There is no word on when it will be released in other regions.

A few days back, a huge leak on the upcoming Galaxy F62 revealed a lot of its specs. Today, the company has teased it on Flipkart albeit not mentioning the name in the teaser.

Jumping into it, a Teaser page appears on Flipkart’s Mobile App under the ‘Flipkart Unique’ tab. Opening it shows a hashtag “#FullOnSpeedy”, a rear of Samsung device, and teases that more info coming up on Feb. 8.  If you recall, tipster Mukul Sharma had leaked that Samsung will soon launch an F-series device and it will be priced under ₹25,000 in India.

Back then, he had also used the same hashtag as before. Additionally, renowned YouTuber Technical Guruji had also leaked a few Specs of the device explicitly mentioning it to be the Galaxy F62 and with #FullOnSpeedy. All these confirm that the device in the teaser is indeed the Galaxy F62.

Anyway, the teaser also has a rear of the image shown in Black Color. If you look closely, you can spot Quad-Cameras inside the Square layout with rounded corners. This also corroborates with the earlier panel leak showing a similar rear camera setup.

Additionally, the teaser shows that there is a power button(with side-mounted fingerprint embedded) and Volume rockers on the right. Besides, the front image could just be a placeholder as we can’t spot front cameras on it. Either way, Galaxy F62 is shaping out to be a device better than Galaxy M51 but with a lower price tag.

As for Specs, Samsung Galaxy F62 is likely to come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display,  Exynos 9825 chipset, 64MP Quad-Cameras, 32MP Front camera, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, 7,000mAh battery, and run One UI 3.1 based Android 11.

A few days back, an exclusive report confirmed that Samsung is working on a Galaxy F62. The device will probably succeed the Galaxy F42 that launched back in October. Today, another report from 91Mobiles says that the device could launch early next year now that it’s production has begun.

Accordingly, Samsung has begun the production of Galaxy F62 in India. Citing its sources, the report says that the device will be one of the slimmest phones from the brand. If we recall, the recently launched Galaxy F41 has a 6,000mAh battery and a thickness of 8.9mm. Additionally, the older M series devices with the above battery have the same thickness(M21, M31, M31 Prime Edition).

However, the Samsung Galaxy M51 with a huge 7,000mAh battery has a 9.5mm thickness, the highest-ever for an M-series device. Hence, the report suggests that Samsung might have either found a way to balance build and battery or it could just lower the mAh and other design aspects. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how Samsung positions the new F-series device as the predecessor had a mix of everything.

Coming back, the production is currently happening in Samsung’s facility at Greater Noida. Further, the report also says that the device might launch earlier, i.e., sometime around Q1 2021. Now, this is just a prediction as there is no concrete info yet. Besides, a Galaxy F62 isn’t entirely new to us.

A few days ago, tipster Ishan Agarwal said that Samsung is working on a Galaxy F62(Tentative) smartphone with model number SM-E625F. Later, a device with a similar model number appeared on the Geekbench listing. According to the listing, the device will be powered by Exynos 9825 SoC.

This is a one-year-old flagship SoC and is present on the Galaxy Note 10 from 2019. Further, the listing also hinted at other specs like 6GB RAM, Android 11 OS. That said, we can expect other features like 4G LTE, AMOLED display, fast charging, and more. Stay tuned to our media channels to get updates for the F62 as and when they arrive.
