Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Watch 5 series later this year. Back in 2021, it had launched the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, and now, a new leak has revealed some interesting details regarding its successor.

The latest information was shared by known tipster Ice Universe on Twitter. While most premium grade smartwatches an aluminum build or a stainless steel design, it appears that the South Korean tech giant is taking things a step forward. Apparently, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will come with a titanium build. As of right now, the company’s rival, Apple, offers its own smartwatches with a titanium build. So its not surprising that Samsung is also following suit.

Apart from the new titanium build, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will reportedly also feature Sapphire glass as well. For those unaware, this glass is more durable and has better protection against scratches. The tipster stated that the upcoming high end smartwatch from the brand will feature a rotating bezel design and boot WearOS. He also added that the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will not offer narrow bezels.

Notably, the next gen model is believed to be wider than the previous generation as well. Unfortunately, this is all the information we have at the moment. So stick around for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.

Meizu has launched its smartwatch on Taobao’s crowdfunding platform. The watch which is called Meizu Light Smartwatch looks like a regular watch but has some functions your regular watch doesn’t have.

There’s no AMOLED screen nor Android Wear (or regular android) and neither will you be able to change watch faces like you can do on the Huawei Watch. Do you remember the Elephone W2 Smartwatch? That’s what Meizu’s new watch reminds me of.

The Meizu Light Smartwatch however has it’s own strong points such as its stylish design and 240 days of standby power which is pretty impressive. The watch comes in 5 varieties to match different occasions/activities. There’s one with a chain-strap that comes in gun metal black and silver colours; if you prefer leather, you can also pick one of two colour options, brown or black; and a final one that has a blue and white nylon strap.

Specifications/Connectivity

Dimensions for the watch says it will have a 42 mm diameter dial and 12 mm thickness. The Meizu light smartwatch’s surface is protected by sapphire glass and features a 316L solid steel band and frame. The leather version has its straps made from Italian leather.  There’s bluetooth 4.0, a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer (for measuring steps), magnetic sensor, and a 270 mAh battery built-in. It is also water resistant up to 99 ft/30 meters (3 ATM).

Pairing the watch to your phone should be pretty easy after downloading the app as long as your phone supports bluetooth 4.0 and above.

Price

The watch is priced according to the straps. The unit with the nylon strap costs 999 Yuan ($150), the version with the leather strap costs 1299 Yuan ($196), and the one with the chain strap costs  1499 Yuan ($226).

If you want to purchase this watch, you should head to Taobao’s crowdfunding page and save yourself some cash as the price will definitely increase if you decide you want to wait for re-sellers.

According a news published in a South Korean newspaper, reports say that 50,000 sapphire covers were ordered by Xiaomi. The company refuses to give a comment, but it was assumed that the sapphire covers were intended for its high end smart phones.

If the reports are true then we’ll be able to see a more durable and high quality smartphones made of sapphire glass, which maybe launched by December this year or early next year.

Knowing that Sapphire has an utmost quality in durability and damage resistance, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a company like Xiaomi will include it in its products. Smartphones can be both expensive and durable, but still the risk of damage is still the same. It will always be about how you use your mobile phone.

But once your mobile phones are mixed up with sapphire content, there is nothing to worry about. With its high durability things will be under your control. Because of a very high quality, Xiaomi phones with sapphire screens and cover might come out in the market with an expensive price. Still, consumers will not always look at the price when Xiaomi and Sapphire combine together. It is quite expected that Xiaomi will roll out some products for design modification since competition and technology keeps on evolving and changing.

On August 20th, Vivo exposed the posters in the subject of “Something is going to change your life” in its official Weibo, which indicates that new products would be launched recently, and it is expected to use the blue diamond screen in this product firstly before iPhone 6, in the evening of August 20th, the photos of vivo new flagship real machine were exposed in the internet, with the official name of X5L.

The related Weibo has been deleted, while some people kept the related photos. Viewed from the photos exposed, X5L still follows the classical three- segment rear design of vivo, little changes at the front panel, and the middle frame applies metal frame design as Xshot, which looks like a combination of Xshot and X3. Before vivo disclosed that its first product with sapphire glass screen will be launched recently, it is probably vivo X5L.

From screenshot we can see the machine is officially named X5L, which can estimate it is the mobile 4G version, with the processor of 1.7GHz eight cores (MT6595 or MT6592), runs the Funtouch OS 1.2 operation system based on the Android 4.4.2.  An as the extension of X series, X5L would have more powerful HiFi music experience. The price for the first blue diamond screen flagship of vivo will be up to 3998 RMB, which will be the highest for the domestic cell phone.

Analyst Matt Margolis known to release a document issued by Apple and the City of Mesa (Arizona) with respect to the sapphire screen production companies.

Documents known to have begun sent to the authorities where the production process will be initiated in the near future. Screen sapphire produced by the plant will be imported back to the U.S. where the screen attachment process will be carried out directly there.

It is rumored to be making these devices become the best-in-class products.

Currently Apple is known to use similar materials as the cover for the lens as a protective iPhone 5S and fingerprint scanner attached to the same mobile home button.

In addition to using the material for the next generation iPhone, rumored screen will also be used for the iWatch.
