Netflix is the world’s one of the most popular video streaming services. However, it is also poor in terms of compatibility as devices require certain hardware and certification to play HD and HDR content. The streaming giant updates the compatibility list regularly when devices clear certification. Recently, the company has added new smartphones from Oppo, Sony, and Xiaomi to the list.

Netflix has lately added a total of 10 devices from OEMs like Oppo, Sony, and Xiaomi to the compatibility list. The new additions also include smartphones from 2017-18 apart from newly launched models from last month and a device which is yet to be announced.

Interestingly, the list also includes the recently leaked Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite, which the company has not released yet.

But Google Pixel 3 is treated with faster updates and it comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box, and these are important added values. On the other hand, Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact gets updated fastly as well: indeed, you can already get Android Pie on it. Sharp Aquos R2 Compact has just been announced, so Android 9 Pie is already installed here too.

Camera

I prefer Google Pixel 3 even when it comes to cameras. It has an amazing rear sensor with a 12.2 MP resolution, a bright f/1.8 aperture, and OIS. Its autofocus is very accurate and the color reproduction as well. And this device even offers a dual front camera which captures a lot of light and includes an ultrawide secondary sensor.

Battery

With a bigger battery and a very optimized energy consumption, Google Pixel 3 probably provides a longer battery life than both its opponents. We do not believe that Sharp Aquos R2 Compact will be at its level, while Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact is not a surprising device when it comes to battery life, even though it is more than sufficient.

Price

The listing price of Sharp Aquos R2 Compact is not known yet, and its availability will be probably limited to Japan, at least for the initial period. So, unless you are from Japan, it will be hard for you to get it. Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact can be easily purchased at a price under €500, while Google Pixel 3 carries a price tag of €860. If we base on the price, it is actually a wiser choice to grab a unit Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact. And we believe that Sharp Aquos R2 Compact will carry a good price tag as well. But overall, Google Pixel 3 is the best phone of this trio with its better design, faster updates, a better camera department and even a bigger battery.

Sony launched the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact at the Mobile World Congress 2018. The two flagship models were the company’s first model to utilise the trendy 18:9 aspect ratio. Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact selling for $499 is quite surprising and we believe the price slash may not bee open for too long. That is because the XZ2 Compact is a 2018 flagship with a Snapdragon 845 chipset aboard. Apart from that the device also comes with a premium build. The Xperia XZ2 Compact features a 5.0-inch HDR display with a resolution of 2160×1080pixels and a screen aspect ratio of 18:9. European pre-orders for the new flagship duo by the most important Japanese hi-tech giant have just started on Sony Mobile Store with a very interesting surprise. After the announcement at MWC 2018, it is now possible to purchase Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact on the official store with price tags of €799 for the standard version and €599 for the Compact variant. In the UK the price is £699 for the XZ2 and £529 for the XZ2 Compact. If you pre-order one of these devices you will also get an additional Sony product for free. The product that you will get depends on the country from which you pre-order Sony Xperia XZ2 or XZ2 Compact.

If you live in the UK and you order them from Carphone Warehouse or Three, you can get a PS4 or a PSVR for free (wireless charging dock and style cover touch if you buy it from the official store), while in other countries you will get a product among PSVR, wireless headphones and wireless speakers with Google Assistant. Another Sony Xperia flagship has been spotted in the database of the benchmarking platform Geekbench. It is the second time that we see a flagship from the Japanese company on Geekbench with exactly the same specs, but its model number is different from the one of the last sighting. The device which has been spotted on Geekbench in late December was identified by the model number H8266 and it was rumored to be the Xperia XZ2. Instead, the new device spotted has the model number 90QB16R: we may be talking about the Xperia XZ2 Compact.

It has exactly the same hardware side, but the scores obtained on Geekbench is slightly lower than the one obtained by the alleged Sony Xperia XZ2. In single-core performances, the H8266 has scored 2393 points, while the 90QB16R has scored 2367 points. In multi-core, the score for the first variant was 8300, while 90QB16R scored 8255 points. Both the phone have the octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset by Qualcomm, the most powerful released until now, together with the Exynos 9810 which will be in the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S9. The SD845 is paired with 4 GB of RAM: these specs confirm the recent leaks.

The operating system installed on both the handsets is Android 8.0 Oreo, and it is obvious saw that we are talking about Sony devices which are among the first to be released with the latest Android versions. Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will officially be unveiled in a few days, at MWC 2018 which will be held in Barcelona. They are expected to come with 18:9 displays as Sony has promised to abandon its OmniBalance design for its flagships. The fingerprint reader will be probably placed on the rear side, unlike the predecessors, just like the new Xperia XA2 series. Sony has already announced its Mobile World Congress press conference on 26th February. While the company has not revealed what it plans to introduce, we expect the company to launch its flagship devices as well as a few mid-range devices.

While the Japan-based company usually launches new Xperia Compact series phone in the second half of the year, reports suggest that the company could launch the Xperia XZ2 Compact at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.

This could turn out to be true given that new prototype images of the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact have just surfaced online. The newly leaked image of Xperia XZ2 Compact next to the Xperia Z5 Compact shows curved bottom.

The leaked image is said to be a picture of a prototype, and may not be a representation of the final version. However, it is confirmed that there is no 3.5mm headphone jack, and that the fingerprint sensor is located on the rear of the device — similar to what the company did with the Xperia XA2 series.

The design of the phone is said to be in line with the previous leaks surrounding the upcoming phones from Sony. It is believed that the final version of the phone will have a slightly smaller bezel on the top of the screen.

Sony is also expected to launch Xperia XZ Pro and Xperia XZ2 at the Mobile World Congress, which are rumoured to feature 18:9 aspect ratio display. So, there is a possibility that the Xperia XZ2 Compact will carry the same aspect ratio and not the traditional aspect ratio of 16:9.

The phone will likely house a 5-inch or smaller display, and is speculated to be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 4GB RAM. Reports suggests that the phone could pack a single rear camera of 19-megapixel and a front-facing shooter of 8-megapixel. It is likely to arrive with an internal storage of 64GB and feature a 3,000mAh battery.

However, nothing has been confirmed by the company and it appears that we’ll have to wait till the company’s press conference on 26th February to know if the Xperia XZ2 Compact gets launched and what else the company introduces.
