The new sky blue color will be present on the inside of the battery case lid and on the earbuds themselves. “Sky Blue” is expected to be an almost exact match of the “Arctic Blue” hue that we expect the Pixel 7a to come in, which looks like a very muted pastel blue. The renders of the Sky Blue Pixel Buds appeared online in March 2023 previously, and this leak confirms that report.

Of course, as this is just a relaunch in a new color, there aren’t really any differences to be expected as far as specs or performance. However, the possibility of getting the Pixel Buds A-Series in “Sky Blue” might entice customers who want earbuds that match their new Google Pixel 7a.

At $99 USD, the Pixel Buds A-Series is an affordable option for those who want reliable earbuds without breaking the bank. The higher-end version of the earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro also recently received the Spatial Audio Update, putting them at par with other players in the market. As of now, it’s unclear if the “Sky Blue” version will ship as a bonus item or at a discount when the Google Pixel 7a is purchased via the Google Store or any phone carriers. However, it is a possibility considering last year’s deals for the Pixel 6a. The Pixel 7a has already leaked in all its entirety, and with only a week remaining for its official launch, fans are waiting eagerly.

It is expected that the C700N will be priced at a higher point than its predecessors, the C500 but considering the plethora of new features bundled with the earphones, it might be a good purchase for the price.

Now, it appears that the latest iteration, the FreeBuds Pro 2+, is set to raise the bar even higher with its innovative heart rate measurement technology.

The leaked information suggests that the new FreeBuds Pro 2+ will be the first Huawei earphones to boast this capability. With the ability to measure real-time heart rate, users can wear the earbuds comfortably and stay on top of their health with high heart rate reminders and a high precision heart rate mode. 

Although the details of the heart rate sensor or its placement are not yet known, it is definitely exciting to see this technology finally being integrated into earbuds. This eliminates the need for a smartwatch to track vitals. The leaked data also showcases an attractive design upgrade for the FreeBuds Pro 2+ with Huawei + Devialet branding on the charging box and a sparkly gold outline around the earbuds. The previous iteration of the earphones, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 have a battery capacity of 420mAh, and they last 2.5 hours on a single charge and up to 15 hours with the charging case. The case charges via a USB-C port and can also be charged wirelessly.

While there’s no official word from Huawei yet, new updates will available in the not-so-distant future. As mentioned previously, the specs of the FreeBuds Pro 2 were quite appealing. These earphones boast dual speakers that produce true tone sound, new smart active noise control 2.0, and dual device connection for seamless control from your smartphone or tablet. Plus, they’re HWA and Hi-Res audio wireless certified, providing a pure audio experience powered by French audio technology company Devialet. However, the new FreeBuds Pro 2+ are expected to top these specifications when they drop.

OnePlus Buds Pro 2 are expected to launch outside China on February 7, 2023. The earbuds were launched in China earlier this month on January 4, 2023. The new Truly Wireless Earbuds are successors to the OnePlus Buds Pro, and they both look quite similar. As per the company’s latest PR release, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will sport Spatial Audio, making them the first Truly Wireless Earbuds to do so. 

Google’s signature spatial audio is developed for Android 13, and it allows for a truly immersive listening experience, even from such small earbuds. The source of the sound remains in a fixed position, providing a 3D audio quality akin to that of a movie theater. Through their partnership with Google, OnePlus has fine-tuned the spatial audio of the Buds Pro 2, incorporating their own spatial rendering algorithm and IMU sensor. As per OnePlus, this enhances stability and compatibility, and opens the door for other apps to utilize this technology. This could be a big selling point for the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 when they hit the global market. 

These earbuds boast dual drivers of 11mm and 6mm, utilizing Bluetooth 5.2 for seamless device connectivity and the added convenience of connecting to two devices at once. As expected with a high-end TWS product, these earbuds also feature intelligent Active Noise Cancellation, adjusting up to 48dB based on your surroundings.

Furthermore, the earbuds are Hi-Res Audio Wireless-certified, supporting LHDC 5.0 codec and providing 360° spatial audio for an immersive experience. Gamers will appreciate the low latency mode with up to 54ms, as well as the touch controls, fast pairing with ColorOS devices, and cervical spine health function.

boAt is gearing up to launch another new hearables based product in the Indian market. The company’s latest device is another truly wireless earbuds, which is dubbed the Airdopes 500 ANC.

Just earlier this week, the brand had released the Airdopes 411 ANC TWS earbuds in India, that offered up to 17.5 hours of battery life, Bluetooth 5.2, 10mm drivers, and more. But just a few days after, it seems like boAt seems to be further expanding its TWS portfolio with the Airdopes 500 ANC. This model features Bluetooth 5.2 as well, along with support for hybrid active noise cancellation up to 35dB. In other words, it can cancel out a broader range of frequencies to block out background noise.

Under the hood, the earbuds house 8mm drivers that promise to offer boAt’s signature loud bass. It also comes with an in ear style earbuds, but does not feature a stem design. Furthermore, the TWS earbuds offers a dedicated low latency mode and ambient mode as well. The former is perfect for mobile gamers while the latter helps users listen to the outside environment while listening to music. It also houses a quad speaker setup with ENx technology that helps enhance audio quality for improved calling experience.

For battery, the earbuds can last for up to 4.5 hours with ANC turned on and 5.5 hours with ANC turned off. When paired with the charging case, it can last for a total of 28 hours. A quick 5 minute charge can also offer up to 1 hour of battery life as well. Other features include, in ear detection, Instant Wake n Pair (IWP), Siri, Google Assistant support, and even IPX4 water resistance rating. The earbuds are currently listed on Amazon India but is not available for purchase.

Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi Air 2 Pro in China on October 13. The Truly Wireless Earbuds have improved design, audio quality, and battery life over the Xiaomi Air 2. However, in our review, we found that the earbuds have certain issues like average ANC effect, interference of wind noise, hassles in mode switching, etc. It looks like the company has overheard the users’ request as the latest firmware update aims to solve some issues.

First, to get things out of the way, we found certain problems during our review of the Xiaomi Air 2 Pro. You can take a look at them below:

• Mediocre ANC(compared to Freebuds Pro)
• Interference of wind noise
• Not so good Higher frequency sound quality
• Hassle in switching between ANC & transparency mode

Now, as reported by ITHome, users in China have received a firmware update for the Xiaomi Air 2 Pro wireless earbuds. Accordingly, the new update focuses more on sound effects, noise, and disconnection of one earbud. Precisely, you can take a look at the changelog below:

• Solve Noise reduction when switching and playing.

That said, the update looks to improve the noise reduction and audio issues of the earbuds. As per the report, it optimizes the quality at higher frequencies(volumes) whilst maintaining less noise levels at low(bottom) volume. Additionally, it fixes the noise reduction problem when switching between modes(ANC & Transparency), disconnection issues.

If you ask me, from the report, it looks like the noise cancellation, and sound quality are addressed more. However, we don’t have any info regarding the LHDC audio codec support and improvement of lower latency modes. Xiaomi has taken the wraps off a new pair of truly wireless earbuds albeit quietly. The Mi Bluetooth Earphones Air is its second truly wireless earbuds and just like the first one, it is inexpensive.

The Mi Bluetooth Earphones Air comes in black and white color variants but when it goes on sale on Friday, January 11, only the white variant will be available for purchase. The earbuds each weigh 5.8 grams and 58 grams with the charging case. Unlike the AirDots, this should be more comfortable to wear and shouldn’t feel heavy since it has a stem and weight distribution should be better.

The earbuds have touch controls for answering/ending calls, waking up Xiaomi’s Xiao AI voice assistant, activating noise cancellation, and controlling playback. The Mi Bluetooth Earphones Air will also automatically pause playback when you pull it out of your ears and if they are idle for more than 30 minutes, they automatically go into sleep mode.

Charging the Mi Bluetooth Earphones Air only takes 1 hour and last 3 hours on a single charge for calls and 10 hours for music playback. Xiaomi says the earbuds are compatible with iOS and Android devices and has an IPX4 rating.

The specification page says the phone connects via Bluetooth 4.2 and not Bluetooth 5.0 and the model number TWSEJ01JY is different from that of the Freedom Buds Pro (TWSEJ03LM) on the Bluetooth SIG website. So this is definitely a different model entirely and not the Freedom Buds Pro/AirDots Pro.

The Mi Bluetooth Earphones Air has a price tag of ¥399 (~$59). It will come with three extra earbuds of different sizes and a Type-C cable for charging. It can be purchased on the Youpin store or on Mi.com.
