<p>Visionox has reportedly showcased a new display with rounded corners and extra-thin bezels on at least three sides. The prototype panel also has an advanced refresh rate and dimming specs, and it saves power thanks to LTPO technology. The display is rumored to be used in the successor to an Android smartphone that is currently being displayed at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ifa-2023/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IFA 2023</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="536" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones-1024x536.jpg?x10805" alt="Visionox Display Honor Smartphones" class="wp-image-563812" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones-803x420.jpg 803w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Visionox-Display-Honor-Smartphones.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Digital Chat Station has shared on <a href="https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4941103805761267" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Weibo</a>, a Chinese micro-blogging platform, that the successor to the Honor 90 could have an even more eye-catching display with the new Visionox technology. This is because of the off-center dual punch-hole design that was shown in Visionox&#8217;s new concept device. The Honor 90 is also displayed at IFA 2023, which matches the rumored news.</p>

<p>Visionox showcased the display in action in a new prototype device with a dual-punch hole cutout on the front. And it reportedly uses &#8220;0.8mm BM black border&#8221; technology to shrink the borders to just 1.5mm thick, even at the corners. This is the same border size as the rumored <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-15-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPhone 15 Pro</a> or<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-15-pro-max/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Pro Max</a>. </p>

<p>The new panel is also rumored to support both DC-like and PWM dimming, with a dimming frequency of up to 3,840Hz. It also integrates LTPO technology for features such as an always-on display and has a 1.5K resolution.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>Given this panel makes its way to Android smartphones, it could rival the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-13/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi 13</a><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-14/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> (or upcoming 14</a>) in terms of border size. The Xiaomi 13 has a 1.61mm bezel, which is already one of the thinnest bezels on an Android smartphone.</p>

<p>Technology keeps advancing and enhancing our quality of life. For instance, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/09/china-has-finally-filmed-its-first-tv-series-in-8k-ultra-high-resolution/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">televisions have evolved</a> from displaying grainy images to presenting incredibly lifelike visuals. Nowadays, even our smartphones are equipped with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/05/honor-magic-v2-use-customized-2k-ltpo-folding-screen/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2K resolution screens</a>, which are becoming the standard. With no limit to innovation, Visionox has introduced its groundbreaking Visionox Intelligent Pixelization (ViP) technology. This development has increased AMOLED pixel density to an impressive 1700 ppi or more. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Visionox Debuts Groundbreaking ViP Display Technology with AMOLED Pixel Density Above 1700 ppi</strong></h2>

<p>ViP technology offers significant improvements to AMOLED displays, including an impressive increase in the effective emitting area (aperture ratio) from the standard 29% to a remarkable 69%. In addition, it pushes pixel density to new heights, surpassing 1700 ppi. When combined with Visionox&#8217;s Tandem stacked devices, ViP technology is capable of delivering up to six times longer device lifespan or four times greater brightness compared to Fine Metal Mask (FMM) AMOLED screens.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-535854" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/visionox-vip-amoled-display-technology.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>According to Visionox, the advanced pixel precision achieved with ViP technology allows for enhanced clarity, color performance, and uniformity in AMOLED displays. By maintaining Real RGB pixel arrangement at high ppi levels and addressing common issues such as subpixel color mixing and crosstalk, ViP technology brings substantial improvements to the display experience.</p>

<p>One notable advantage of ViP technology is its ability to enhance existing technologies, like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/10/under-display-camera-oled-development-application-future/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">under-display cameras</a>, AR/VR, wearables, smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop displays, automotive screens, and televisions. Visionox has already successfully tested a medium-sized sample based on ViP technology and is actively working on mass production for all AMOLED sizes. The company has been developing photolithography-based pixel patterning since 2016 and started constructing a dedicated ViP technology mass production line in 2022. </p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">As far as specs are concerned, the 10-bit 120Hz curved screens on the duo measure the same 6.81-inch and can go as low as 10Hz. However, their resolutions, aspect ratio, and screen-to-body ratio are different.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The panel on the vanilla model has a resolution of 1224 x 2664 pixels, a 19.59:9 aspect ratio, and a 94.2% screen-to-body ratio. On the other hand, these numbers are 1312 × 2848 pixels, 19.54:9, and 93.5% on the pro variant.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The changes in the specifications are likely due to the different cutouts for the front-facing cameras. The Magic4 has a centered punch-hole for its single camera, while the Magic4 Pro sports a pill-shaped hole on the top left side for its dual cameras.</span></p>

<p>According to a <a href="http://www.techweb.com.cn/finance/2021-02-01/2823894.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>TechWeb</em> </a>report, a person close to the supplier has stated that the company might be receiving 5 million orders from Huawei and about 10 million orders from Honor for AMOLED panels. Back in January 2021, Visionox had announced that its net profit for 2020 is expected to be around 141 million to 210 million Yuan (roughly 21 to 31 million US Dollars), which marks a year on year increase of 120 to 227 percent. The company attributed this growth to its continuous innovation and rising demands.</p>
<p>Notably, Visionox is also the company behind the first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/01/visionox-under-screen-camera-ready-mass-production/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">mass produced display that supports an under screen camera</a>. Furthermore, it also has an exclusive deal with ZTE to provide these <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/21/zte-axon-20-5g-the-worlds-first-under-display-camera-phone-was-in-development-for-20-months/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">displays for the company&#8217;s flagship ZTE Axon 20</a> smartphone. It even provides high end hyperboloid curved displays to major OEMs for their smartwatch lineup and even smartphones. A few of its major customers include Chinese tech giants like Xiaomi, ZTE, Huami, and South Korea&#8217;s LG as well. Recently, the company even picked up Oppo, Motorola, and more as their new customers.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-357507 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/ZTE-Axon-20-5G-Extreme-Edition-launched-.jpg?x10805" alt="Visionox" width="720" height="446" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/ZTE-Axon-20-5G-Extreme-Edition-launched-.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/ZTE-Axon-20-5G-Extreme-Edition-launched--300x186.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/ZTE-Axon-20-5G-Extreme-Edition-launched--356x220.jpg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/ZTE-Axon-20-5G-Extreme-Edition-launched--696x431.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/ZTE-Axon-20-5G-Extreme-Edition-launched--678x420.jpg 678w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></p>
<p>So, Huawei and Honor putting in large orders with the company is great news for the supplier. Meanwhile, Honor placing in larger orders is also indicative of both companies&#8217; current position, as Huawei struggles with its smartphone division due to US sanctions that had caused it to sell its budget sub brand to ensure its survival. At the moment, Honor is pushing to launch its products, especially in China, to establish itself as a major contender in its home market of China.</p>

Now, the company has partnered with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> for the next-generation of foldable smartphones.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://m.21jingji.com/article/20200901/herald/bba703fb5cd4f4c3f28f70918487deb6.html">report</a>, citing people aware of the matter, says that Visionox will now be the screen supplier for the next-generation of foldable smartphones coming from Huawei. Apart from this, both companies also seem to have partnered up for under-display camera technology.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-298260 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/visionox.jpg?x10805" alt="Visionox Flexible OLED Displays" width="640" height="416" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/visionox.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/visionox-300x195.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></p>
<p>Currently, Huawei is sourcing display panels for the foldable smartphones from Samsung Display. It is said that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mate-x2">Huawei Mate X2</a> uses panels from Samsung but going forward, it will switch to Visionox, in line with the company&#8217;s move to align itself to domestic vendors to reduce its reliance on other companies outside of China.</p>
<p>As per the report, Visionox’s orders for Huawei this year is expected to reach 2.5 billion yuan. The semi-annual report reveals that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/visionox">Visionox</a> achieved an operating income of 1.165 billion yuan in H1 2020, representing an increase of 4.44 percent.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> </strong><a title="OnePlus CEO joins OPPO’s holding company as Senior VP and Chief Product Experience Officer" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/31/oneplus-ceo-returns-to-oppo-as-senior-vp-and-head-of-product-experience/" rel="bookmark"><strong>OnePlus CEO joins OPPO’s holding company as Senior VP and Chief Product Experience Officer</strong></a></p>
<p>However, the net profit for the company declined significantly to 92 million yuan, which is about 47.30 percent. So, to cover up, the company is now focusing more on newer technologies like foldable displays.</p>
<p>A couple of months ago, Visionox had confirmed that the company&#8217;s under-screen camera technology is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/01/visionox-under-screen-camera-ready-mass-production/">ready for mass-production</a> and has achieved one of the best display results. It has used transparent OLED panels on devices, resulting in a balanced offering of display quality and photographic performance.</p>

<p>According to a recent report, Visionox had shipped OLED displays worth 2.5 billion Yuan to Huawei and over 1 billion Yuan worth of display panels to Xiaomi. <p>Back in June, Visionox unveiled the world&#8217;s first OLED display with the new technology. While rumors had also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/11/huawei-under-display-camera-tech-monopoly/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">surfaced that Huawei will be the first to launch with the technology</a> through the upcoming Mate series, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/30/huawei-mate-40-will-not-feature-an-under-display-camera/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">newer reports said otherwise</a>. However, this news does indicate a separate device from Huawei that may feature the technology. Unfortunately, it is still too soon to tell, so stay tuned for more updates.</p>

Methods to achieve this include punch hole camera, popup mechanism, or even a water drop notch. But recently, the anticipation for an Under Display camera has been growing, and now, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/visionox/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Visionox</a> has confirmed that its OLED panel with this technology is ready for mass production.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-326536 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox.jpg?x10805" alt="Visionox InV See" width="911" height="617" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox.jpg 911w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox-300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox-768x520.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox-696x471.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox-620x420.jpg 620w" sizes="(max-width: 911px) 100vw, 911px" /></p>
<p>The company has said that its the under screen camera solution is ready and it has achieved one of the best display results. Visionox has used transparent OLED panel on devices, which has resulted in a balanced offering of display quality and photographic performance. This will allow smartphone OEMs to make full front display bodies on their offerings and is also the world&#8217;s first under-screen camera solution to reach mass production.</p>

<p>Despite smartphone vendors having <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/03/oppo-under-display-camera-technology/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">showcased the under screen camera technology</a>, a smartphone with this feature has yet to launch. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/09/oppo-vp-dont-be-too-excited-about-under-screen-cameras-this-year/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo had previously mentioned that the technology would likely not be seen in 2020</a> since image quality suffered. Furthermore, it would also likely be expensive, and shipping a high end flagship with a sub par front camera is infeasible.</p>

<p>Interestingly, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/11/huawei-under-display-camera-tech-monopoly/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei&#8217;s upcoming Mate 40 series was initially rumored to feature this new camera technology</a> as well. Hence, it would be more likely for a future handset to launch with this feature. However, it remains to be seen just how well this iteration of the technology performs in real life.</p>

The “concept” phone features a display that practically wraps around it. The display was made by Visionox, a China-based company, that has now made a second-gen version of the screen.</p>
<p>According to a Weibo post by <em>Digital Chat Station</em>, Visionox has made an improved version of the display which has an optimized structure, a better fit, and an improved yield rate for mass production.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-328606 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox-2nd-gen-Wraparound-Display.jpg?x10805" alt="Visionox 2nd-gen Wraparound Display" width="437" height="289" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox-2nd-gen-Wraparound-Display.jpg 437w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Visionox-2nd-gen-Wraparound-Display-300x198.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 437px) 100vw, 437px" /></p>
<p>The post also said Visionox has made a 7.92-inches flexible AMOLED screen for foldable devices that allows the screen to be folded both inward and outward.</p>
<p>The image below shows a prototype device with the new flexible display. The device can be unfolded into a tablet and can be folded inwards to protect the display from scratches when in your bag or pocket. It can also be folded outwards if the user decides to use just one half of the screen like a regular phone.</p>
<p>Visionox says the display has an inward folding radius of 2.85 mm and an outward folding radius of 8mm. The folding mechanism is said to be quite complex but even at that, the display is ready for mass production.</p>

<p>Just because there is a better version of the wraparound display doesn&#8217;t mean the Mi MIX Alpha will enter mass production. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> may decide to leave the phone has a concept. However, we won&#8217;t rule out the possibility of another manufacturer working with Visionox to launch a commercially-available phone with a wraparound display.</p>

<p>Now, the same type of competition is for under-display camera technology. Several companies are working on the tech and the likes of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/24/oppo-in-display-camera-launch-26-june/">OPPO</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/09/xiaomi-patents-in-display-camera-setup/">Xiaomi</a> have already showcased their prototype.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-324411 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Logo MWC 2019" width="3000" height="2000" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019.jpg 3000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Huawei-Logo-MWC-2019-1920x1280.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3000px) 100vw, 3000px" /></p>
<p>But, as per the reports coming from China, Huawei could be the first smartphone company to launch a device having an in-display camera sensor. Not just that, it seems that the Chinese giant could also monopolize the market.</p>
<p>Visionox, which is known for supplying display panels to smartphone makers, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/08/visionox-announces-its-under-screen-camera-display-is-ready-for-mass-production/">recently announced</a> that it is ready for the mass production of its under-screen camera display and showcased a video of the same.</p>
<p>If the reports are to be believed, then it looks like Huawei is trying to get its hands on the panels exclusively for its devices. Also, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor-magic">Honor Magic</a> series is expected to be the first to adopt the new under-display camera technology this year.</p>

<p>Apparently, other smartphone manufacturers are not expected to launch their flagship smartphones with under-display front-facing camera sensors as the technology is not yet ready for this, at least that&#8217;s what the executives from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/meizu">Meizu</a> and OPPO claim.</p>
<p>While Visionox will be providing the hardware part for the in-screen camera technology, there&#8217;s still another important part for it to work &#8212; software. The company is reportedly working with phone makers for a special algorithm that will handle glare, brightness, and eliminate the fogging effect.</p>
<p>It will be interesting to see the implementation of the under-display camera technology and see where this new tech leads the smartphone market. Soon after the launch of a Huawei smartphone with an in-screen camera, we expect other brands to follow the suit.</p>

<p>Called InV See, Visionox said they had to improve the transparency of the camera area by using new organic and inorganic film materials with higher transparency for the main screen. The new materials not only have improved transparency but also reduce diffraction.</p>

<p>Visionox also revealed they created an “industry-first drive circuit and pixel structure design” that minimizes interference.</p>
<p>It is important to know that hardware is only one half of the technology as the software will also play its part. Visionox says it is working with manufacturers to develop a special algorithm for the technology. This software algorithm will handle glare, brightness, and fogging effect so photos and videos captured with the selfie camera turn out great.</p>

<p>At the moment, it appears Visionox&#8217;s InV See will be exclusive to AMOLED displays. So expect LCD displays to keep having notches and punch holes for the foreseeable future.</p>
<p>InV See is ready for mass production but it is still unknown when the first commercially available phone will be announced. We are still in the first half of the year, so there is still a chance we may see it appear in phones before 2021.</p>
<p>Which manufacturer do you think will be the first to launch a phone with an in-display camera?</p>

Huawei is expected to order 5-10 million mobile phone screens from Visionox in 2020. This may likely include punch-hole OLED displays which have been elusive from Huawei&#8217;s product line.</p>

Instead, it is manufactured by Visionox that also supplied display for Xiaomi&#8217;s two-way folding smartphone.</p>
<p>According to a latest piece of information, Visionox has set up an all new assembly line in Guangzhou, China which will be used to manufacture flexible AMOLED displays. Notably, to bring the production line together, a total of 11.2 billion yuan has been invested which has been raised via public capital, state-owned enterprises<span class="goog-text-highlight"> of Guangzhou and Visionox.<img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-264788 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-1024x682.jpeg?x10805" alt="Visionox" width="696" height="464" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-696x464.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-631x420.jpeg 631w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></span></p>

<p>Reports claim that this production line is one of its kinds and it will further decrease the dependence of Chinese manufacturer&#8217;s on foreign suppliers like Samsung and LG. The assembly line is capable of producing flexible AMOLED displays that range from 6 inch, all the way upto 18 inch.</p>
<p>We have already seen a 7.92 inch flexible display with the Mi Mix Alpha, but we are yet to experience devices with this type of display as big as 18 inch. Overall, the Visionox assembly line seems to be of great importance. As displays manufactured here will open up a whole new world of possibilities in the domain of consumer electronics.</p>

<p>As the largest size display that Visionox can manufacture is 18 inch, we could see other foldable devices like laptops and large screen tablets get the flexible treatment.</p>

It&#8217;s basically a permanently folded curved screen device. Looking at its beautiful curved display, we may assume that it&#8217;s from big-league OLED makers like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>, LG, or even <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/BOE">BOE</a>. But turns out, Xiaomi worked very closely with China&#8217;s Visionox to bring this curved screen design to reality.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mix-alpha-pic-6.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-278356" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mix-alpha-pic-6.png?x10805" alt="" width="499" height="519" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mix-alpha-pic-6.png 499w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mix-alpha-pic-6-288x300.png 288w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mix-alpha-pic-6-404x420.png 404w" sizes="(max-width: 499px) 100vw, 499px" /></a></p>
<p>A top-rated digital blogger and supply chain source, Mocha revealed on Weibo earlier today that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/visionox">Visionox</a> and Xiaomi developed the Mi Mix Alpha concept together. So it was none of the big names like Samsung or BOE (Mate X <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/24/huawei-boe-partnering-8-inch-foldable-display-smartphone/">display supplier</a>) that brought such an experimental design close to a commercial release. Xiaomi&#8217;s product director Wang Teng Thomas didn&#8217;t deny this claim. He replied to the post saying that Xiaomi works with multiple OLED panel makers including Visionox.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Screenshot-2019-09-25-at-9.02.53-PM.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-278691" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Screenshot-2019-09-25-at-9.02.53-PM.png?x10805" alt="visionox mi mix alpha supplier comment" width="449" height="264" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Screenshot-2019-09-25-at-9.02.53-PM.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Screenshot-2019-09-25-at-9.02.53-PM-300x177.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px" /></a></p>
<p>Visionox may not be a household name when it comes to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OLED">OLEDs</a>, but the company&#8217;s roots go back to the strong OLED project team of Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious universities for science and technology in the world. What&#8217;s even more interesting is that he revealed Visionox is also going to supply OLEDs to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> very soon.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/27/huami-unveils-the-amazfit-x-concept-watch-with-a-flexible-curved-display/">Huami unveils the Amazfit X Concept Watch with a flexible curved display</a></strong></h6>
<p>It looks like Visionox has become China&#8217;s new favorite for developing experimental displays. Apart from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-alpha/">Mi Mix Alpha</a> concept, Visionox is also supplying flexible OLEDs for Xiaomi&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/27/xiaomis-foldable-smartphone-features-in-official-video-teaser/">dual folding smartphone</a>. Further, the flexible AMOLED display for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-axon-10-pro/">ZTE&#8217;s Axon 10 Pro</a> is also supplied by the same company.</p>

<p>But Visionox is also part of another experimental product, coincidentally, also called as the Alpha. In case you still haven&#8217;t figured it out, I&#8217;m talking about the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-nubia-alpha/">Nubia Alpha</a>, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/02/26/nubia-alpha-foldable-watch-phone-announced/">foldable watch shaped smartphone</a>, that features a four-inch flexible display from Visionox. The Chinese OLED maker currently has around 6,000 OLED patents to its name and has two plants, one in Gu&#8217;an, Hebei province, and another one in Hefei, Anhui province for manufacturing flexible OLED panels.</p>

The report indicates that Visionox is facilitating its expansion in display panels for smartphones, wearable devices, vehicle-mounted systems and smart homes due to the surging demand for flexible display screens.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox.jpeg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-264788" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox.jpeg?x10805" alt="Visionox" width="1024" height="682" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-696x464.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/visionox-631x420.jpeg 631w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>Visionox&#8217;s vice-president is quoted by China Daily to have hinted that; &#8220;With the development of 5G, big data and cloud computing, the display panels will change peoples&#8217; lifestyles and enhance the visual experience.&#8221; The company VP also added that cutting-edge technologies will stimulate applications for flexible screens. Further, he said; &#8220;The OLED industry is growing very rapidly. Visionox will focus on independent innovation and team with other companies in the industrial chain to produce flexible products.&#8221;</p>
<p>The company exec also emphasized that flexible active-matrix organic light-emitting diodes or AMOLEDs will have wider applications in smartphones, computers, smart wearables, vehicles, smart homes, virtual reality and augmented reality. AMOLEDs are more flexible with faster response and have high contrast and wide visual angles when compared to traditional liquid crystal displays or LCD panels.</p>
<p>Also, Visionox disclosed that it has provided AMOLED screens for Xiaomi&#8217;s recently revealed under-screen camera since June. Xiaomi&#8217;s prototype foldable phone which was revealed earlier this year also uses an OLED display panel from Visionox, according to the VP. In addition, ZTE&#8217;s 5G phone, the Axon 10 Pro also utilises an AMOLED screen supplied by Visionox. Another product having Visonox AMOLED screen is the Nubia Alpha smartwatch-like phone with a 4-inch flexible screen.</p>

<p>On top of that, the VP disclosed that the company currently has about 6,000 OLED patents. The firm has two sixth-generation flexible AMOLED display screen production lines in Gu&#8217;an, Hebei province, and Hefei in Anhui province. Its AMOLED display screen production line in Gu&#8217;an went into operation last year and can turn out 30,000 glass substrates (1,500 mm by 1,850 mm) every month. The production line can also meet the high-end, foldable screen demand for 90 million smartphones. Visionox started building its second flexible AMOLED production line in Hefei in December. It also has a monthly capacity of 30,000 substrates.</p>
<p>Although Samsung and LG currently blaze the trail in terms of revenue from OLED displays, with the push from Chinese firms like Visionox and even BOE technology, we expect to see a change in the market structure in no distant time.</p>

The executive revealed the double-folding display is a breakthrough for the mobile industry in an interview today.</p>
<p>If you have been wondering who the display panel supplier for <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a>&#8216;s double-folding smartphone is, industry sources have revealed that it is Chinese display maker, Visionox.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-234344" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Visionox-Flexible-AMOLED-Display-Line.jpg?x10805" alt="Visionox Flexible AMOLED Display Line" width="870" height="337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Visionox-Flexible-AMOLED-Display-Line.jpg 870w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Visionox-Flexible-AMOLED-Display-Line-300x116.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Visionox-Flexible-AMOLED-Display-Line-768x297.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px" /></p>
<p>According to Chinese market research firm All View Consulting, Visionox was the third largest AMOLED display manufacturer in 2018. At the end of 2018, the display manufacturer began construction of its G6 flexible AMOLED display production line in Hefei, Anhui Province of China.</p>
<p>The production line is expected to boost the display industry in the region and also China&#8217;s status as a display manufacturing country.</p>
<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s co-founder, Lin Bin, who showed off the foldable prototype said they had to surmount a number of technical difficulties while developing the device. The phone is still under development and will be commercially available later.</p>

<p>However, if Xiaomi is sticking to Visionox as the supplier for the display, it will have to wait for the new production line to be completed. Sadly, in its official press release, Visionox didn&#8217;t state the expected time of completion of the new line.</p>
