Xiaomi has recently launched its new 1.5-inch soft air conditioner, named the Roufeng Air Conditioner. It has just started crowdfunding at a price of 2,299 yuan, which is significantly cheaper than the suggested retail price of 2,699 yuan. The machine is designed to be energy-efficient, with an APF of up to 5.27, and can save up to 323 degrees of electricity per year. It uses a full DC frequency compressor and an innovative self-developed new air channel, making it suitable for rooms between 16-20 square meters.

This air conditioner features 14 sweeping blades and 602 circular micro-holes, which helps to soften the airflow and solve the problem of cold air blowing directly on people, especially young children, mothers, and elderly people who may be more susceptible to catching cold. This unique feature makes it a great option for families that want to keep their loved ones healthy and comfortable.

The Roufeng Air Conditioner also has a large 106mm super diameter cross-flow fan, which can achieve a circulating air volume of up to 680m3/h. Xiaomi Group partner and senior vice president Zhang Feng have announced a review of the brand’s air conditioner business for the year 2021. The VP disclosed that Xiaomi sold over 2 million units of its air-conditioners during the period under review spanning from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021.

Xiaomi Air-conditioners have turned out to be one of the brand’s popular products and this sales report buttresses that fact. The MIJIA Air conditioners were ranked as the top-selling brand on Jingdong (JD.com) in May 2021 with the brand selling over 4000 units, 15 times higher than the previous month’s sales.

Xiaomi has often retained a minimalist design in most of its products and the air-conditioner lineup is no exception. While they feature a minimalist design, the MIJIA Air-conditioner adopts Xiaomi’s new generation of the dual-hybrid fresh air system and its self-developed centrifugal turbocharging technology. The units are also capable of carrying out deep purification of indoor and outdoor air and then releasing fresh air through secondary pressurization.

The air-conditioners also come with Xiaomi’s self-developed fresh air system technology that delivers a large fresh air volume of 40m³/h without expanding or re-opening holes, efficiently dilute indoor harmful gases, allow air to circulate quickly, and use clean oxygen-containing air with real-time replacement to solve closed air-conditioning. They are also equipped with a high-grade HEPA filter with 4 layers of deep purification bringing anti-bacterial and anti-viral capabilities, and thus, keep the indoor air fresh.

Apart from the wall-mounted air-conditioner, Xiaomi also has floor/standing air-conditioners that are portable enough to move around. These products would have also contributed to the overall sales. The brand will be looking to build on the successes of 2021 and so, we expect more air-conditioning products with innovative technology.

Xiaomi has just released a new air conditioner earlier today (24th April 2020). The new Gentle Breeze Air Conditioner was teased a few days ago and has finally been launched. It is priced at 2,199 Yuan (roughly 310 US Dollars) and is also available for 2,499 Yuan (roughly 352 US Dollars) for the high variant and 2,699 Yuan (roughly 381 US Dollars) for the 1.5 ton variant.

One of the most notable aspects regarding the Xiaomi Gentle Breeze Air Conditioner is also described in its name. The gentle/natural breeze is another term for broader coverage of its air outflow. While traditional air conditioners let out the air in a particular direction which isn’t suitable for direct contact for human beings, the Gentle “Soft” breeze feature enables the AC to spread the wind flow evenly across the room.

This not only brings the temperature variance to a minimum but also makes it feel more natural, like a gentle breeze in the countryside; a term Xiaomi heavily implied on the air conditioner’s promotional images. The Gentle Breeze Air Conditioner features 1120 air outlet micro holes that provide three dimensional air supply at a wide angle. It also houses two 98mm super large cross flow fans.

The 1 ton version has a 620 cubic meters per hour circulating volume and a max range of 10 square meters. On the other hand, the 1.5 ton variant has a 660 cubic meters per hour circulating airflow and a max range of 16 square meters. The Xiaomi Gentle Breeze Air Conditioner adopts a full DC frequency conversion technology that is energy efficient and has a high APF value of 5.13, which is far higher than the national standard and energy efficiency limit value of 4.5 in China.

The Gentle Breeze Air Conditioner also supports the Xiao AI voice assistant and can also be interlinked with other smart home products. In other words, it supports voice control to turn it on or off, change temperatures or even use other smart home products, while also being connected via the common smart home Mi application.

How do you achieve the environment switch between the city and the valley on a busy day?” This highly implies that the new air conditioner will be made with a natural feeling breeze in mind. The Chinese tech giant emphasized greatly on the countryside experience.

In the post, the company shared a teaser poster image which also depicted the countryside. From what we can gather, the company is focusing on its new Natura Breeze feature, which will likely be an aromatic enhancement. Meaning, Xiaomi may be trying to provide a fresh airflow experience through a fresh smell over traditional air conditioners.

Furthermore, the airflow itself is said to be gentler or “softer.” This again emphasizes the natural breeze over the artificial cold air which isn’t very healthy on the human body. The airflow will also have a wider coverage with less temperature difference within the room. In other words, one will not have areas that the airflow doesn’t reach while it will not hit anyone directly and spread more evenly.

Earlier today (14th January 2020), Xiaomi officially launched a new Smart Air Conditioner. It arrives in two variants with different power load capacities and both are said to beat the current energy efficiency standards of the industry.

Specs and Features

According to official listings, the Xiaomi Smartmi Air Conditioner A arrives in a 1 ton and 1.5 ton models. The key selling point of the home appliance is its energy efficiency. The air conditioner from the Chinese tech giant has an APF (annual performance factor) value as high as 4.65, which is better than the current Chinese power efficiency standard of 4.5. In simpler terms, the higher the APF value, the greater an air conditioner’s energy efficiency. The class 1 level category of energy efficiency was achieved thanks to the new DC frequency conversion motor.

Notably, the Chinese Government had passed a law that has since been claimed to be the strictest energy efficiency standard for Air Conditioners on 1st July 2019. It is officially being implemented now and surpasses similar laws that are found in the US and are a leading international benchmark for the same.

In real-world scenarios, Xiaomi’s new air conditioner saves about 20 percent energy than the other AC’s with class 3 efficiency ratings and lower APF value. Furthermore, the new home appliance offering from the company is also a smart product. Thus, it supports voice commands through the Xiao AI to control the temperature or turn the Air Conditioner on or off.

Xiaomi‘s had plenty of big launches today, ranging from the impressive Xiaomi CC9 Pro to the new Mi Watch. This unveiling however, while not as big of a deal, was equally interesting to us. Amidst the TVs and smartphones, Xiaomi made time to launch two air conditioners, those being the Internet Air Conditioner and Internet Vertical Air Conditioner.

These new air conditioners put a heavy emphasis on saving power while still cooling very well. They all feature full DC frequency conversion technology to achieve this goal, which is a nice sentiment. The devices all follow the company’s minimalist design language, and they all come in the single white colour option. They also all feature mini displays for info.

The pricing of the air conditioners is dependent on the horsepower of the model. The hanging house models come in a 1HP and 1.5HP variants that cost 2299 yuan ($329) and 2499 yuan ($358) respectively. The vertical models on the other hand come in 2HP and 3HP variants, for 4499 yuan ($644) and 5499 yuan ($787), making them significantly pricier.

Since 2015, Xiaomi has released numerous smart home products as the demand for such devices have been growing rapidly. It seems that the company will be soon introducing a new full inverter air conditioner.

At the end of June, an air conditioner with model number KFR-35GW / 01ZM was spotted receiving 3C certification in China. It is manufactured by Sichuan Changhong Electronic Technology Co. Ltd and it was also found that the product be launching as full inverter air conditioner by Xiaomi.

Insiders from Sichuan Changhong foundry has revealed that Xiaomi’s air conditioner is ready and there will be multiple models of Xiaomi’s air conditioning products. Xiaomi has been working on air conditioning product since the past the three years and it seems that its arrival is finally drawing near.

It has been by the insiders that Xiaomi’s full inverter air conditioner is arriving soon and it is expected to be at least $500 cheaper than similar products from other brands. Such an aggressive pricing will compel users to buy the first air conditioner from Xiaomi.

In 2015, Xiaomi had teamed up with Midea, a private Chinese firm that specializes in electronic consumer goods, to manufacture a smart AC unit. However, the co-operation between the two companies drew ire from Gree’s president Dong Mingzhu. She commented on the collaboration between Xiaomi and Midea as “two swindlers working together make it into a fraud group.”

The i-Youth Smart Air Conditioner that was the product launched by Xiaomi and Midea was met with lukewarm response from the consumers. Industry watchers feel that since Xiaomi does not have its own AC manufacturing factory, it won’t be easy for Xiaomi to gain good market share in short time.

However, the low-priced air conditioner from the company will cause a price war with other brands. The specifications of the Xiaomi full inverter air conditioner have not surfaced yet. At present, Gree and Midea are the two leading air-conditioning brands in China followed by Haier. The market share of Xiaomi is 7 percent in the air conditioning market.

Back in December, Xiaomi and Midea entered a strategic partnership to develop smart home products for the consumers. Now, first reports are coming in which says that the two companies will jointly unveil its first product, a smart Xiaomi Air Conditioner later this year.

For those who haven’t heard of Midea, it is a privately held Chinese company specializing in electronic consumer products. Xiaomi and Midea’s partnership could give birth to a new range of smart connected devices in China. In this regard, it is said that Xiaomi sent out its specialist engineers to work with Midea’s team to develop and finalize on a smart Air Conditioner.

On a traditional AC, you have to manually set the temperature, wind speed, and other functions. However, in this new range of smart ACs, everything will be automatically set according to your preset preferences and surrounding conditions. So, things like temperature, wind speed and humidity controls will be automated.

One of Midea’s lead engineers, Zhu Liang Hung said that Air Conditioner is just one part of the picture. The joint partnership will result into a number of new products including smart washing machines, air purifiers, humidifiers and even refrigerators.

Clearly, Xiaomi is advancing into newer product categories and may soon have a wide range of product portfolio under its belt.
