Xiaomi 14 Ultra has officially received the August 2024 security update in 3 different regions. Global, European and Indian ROMs continue to receive the update gradually. The build numbers of the update are OS1.0.11.0.UNAEUXM, OS1.0.10.0.UNAMIXM and OS1.0.9.0.UNAINXM respectively. “EU” stands for Europe, “MI” stands for Global, and “IN” stands for India.

The update size varies by region. It’s 401MB for India, 505MB for Europe and 628MB for Global. These small differences are normal. The new updates coming to the device are basically the same. Xiaomi Mi 11X and 11X Pro are among the devices that received the HyperOS update. Basically, these two smartphones are rebranded versions of the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro. Xiaomi Mi 11X and 11X Pro have received the HyperOS update with build numbers OS1.0.1.0.TKHINXM and OS1.0.1.0.UKKINXM. The Mi 11X received HyperOS based on Android 13, while the Mi 11X Pro received the HyperOS update based on Android 14. The reason behind this lies in the processor difference. The Mi 11X has the Snapdragon 870, but the 11X Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor. The SD 888 is a more up-to-date chip, which helps to be eligible for the Android 14 update. We advise Mi 11X users not to worry, though. Because HyperOS optimizations are included in the new update.

Xiaomi Mi 11X receives the March 2024 security patch while Mi 11X Pro receives the April 2024 security patch. The update to the Mi 11X is 1.6GB in size, while the Pro model has received the latest Android 14 version with the new update which has a large size of 4.8GB. These are the last major updates for these devices, so you may need to use Custom ROM in the future.

1. Lock Screen Customisations

Lock screen customisation has never been that great on MIUI which HyperOS can do. The new OS offers extensive lock screen customisation options to give you lock screen a perfect look. 2. Much Improved Control Center

Recent leaks from Xiaomi Community China revealed a hidden “Bootloader Unlock Beta” option, suggesting the company’s intention to tighten bootloader unlocking procedures. The motivations behind these changes remain unclear, but they may be driven by concerns related to security and software integrity.

These potential complications in bootloader unlocking could adversely affect users, especially those interested in installing custom ROMs. If implemented, users may need to invest more effort in understanding and navigating the new procedures.

Xiaomi’s recent launch of the Xiaomi 14 series in China introduced the HyperOS, replacing MIUI. Xiaomi later confirmed (via Android Authority) that bootloader unlocking will be disabled by default on HyperOS smartphones, citing reasons such as security, data protection, and user experience. Users will now need to request permission to unlock the bootloader through Xiaomi’s community forum.

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone maker, has announced that it is launching a new operating system called HyperOS. The new OS is set to debut on the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series, and will eventually replace MIUI, Xiaomi’s current Android-based operating system.

Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, confirmed the development of HyperOS in a tweet today. He said that the new OS is a “historic moment” for the company and that it will make its official debut on the Xiaomi 14 series.

Alvin, Xiaomi’s global VP, also confirmed that HyperOS will be available globally and will roll out throughout 2024. This means that the new OS will gradually replace Xiaomi’s legacy MIUI operating system, which has been around for 13 years.

HyperOS has reportedly been in the works since 2017 and is designed to cater to Xiaomi’s wide range of products, which includes smartphones, smart home devices, and cars. The company says that the new OS will tie in its entire ecosystem of products, making it easier for users to control and manage their devices from one place.

Lei Jun also clarified in a post on Weibo that HyperOS is “based on the integration of the deeply evolved Android and the self-developed Vela system, completely rewriting the underlying architecture, and preparing a public base for the Internet of Everything for tens of billions of devices and tens of billions of connections in the future.” Xiaomi Vela is an IoT software system platform based on the open-source embedded operating system NuttX.
