<p>Xiaomi re-entered the tablet category with the launch of the Xiaomi Pad 5 series in 2021. These devices were introduced with MIUI 12.5 for Pad based on Android 11.</p>

<p>Right now, they boot Android 13-based MIUI 14 in all the markets. According to new findings, these products will get an update to <a href="https://gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-15/">MIUI 15</a> in the near future. But there’s a catch.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Pad 5" class="wp-image-457101" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Xiaomi Pad 5</figcaption></figure>

<p>Xiaomiui <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/xiaomi-pad-5-series-confirmed-to-receive-miui-15-update-51454/">says</a> that Xiaomi is developing MIUI 15 builds for the original three Xiaomi Pad 5 series models. These include <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-5/">Xiaomi Pad 5</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-pad-5-pro/">Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro WiFi</a>, and Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 5G.</p>

<p>However, the upcoming MIUI update for these tablets will not bump up the Android version. In other words, they will not be receiving the <a href="https://gizmochina.com/tag/Android-14/">Android 14</a> update.</p>

<p>It is not surprising as Xiaomi did not promise three OS upgrades for them, unlike the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-11t/">Xiaomi 11T</a> series and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-11-lite-5g-ne/">Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G</a> that were released in the same year. But it still does not feel right,</p>

<p>Because consumers are known to use tablets for a longer period than smartphones. Anyway, the software support on Xiaomi tablets is far better than earlier but it is still not enough. For the unaware, previous <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> tablets generally received a single MIUI update and no Android update.</p>

<p>Compared to other Chinese OEMs, Xiaomi is slow to adopt better software support, For instance, it just announced 4 OS updates for select smartphones while competitors made such changes last year.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi </a>has been hard at work updating all of its eligible devices to the latest version of MIUI. So far, the brand rolled out the new software to a sizeable number of smartphones and tablets in both global and Chinese markets. The latest device to get the Android 13-based MIUI 14 update is the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro. The tablet is receiving the update in China with support for the photon engine. Here are the details.</p>

<p>As shared by users, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-pad-5-pro/">Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro</a> units in China are now getting updated to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/miui-14">MIUI 14</a>. The update is being seeded in a phased manner and it should reach every unit in a few days. Do note that the global Pad 5 Pro models are yet to receive the latest update. We expect Xiaomi to start rolling out the Android 13 update to the international market in the near future.</p>

<p>MIUI 14 update for the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro brings all the new features introduced by Xiaomi as well as Google. The software comes with a greatly simplified design as well as a smaller memory footprint. As mentioned, it also brings support for the MIUI photon engine, which is touted to increase the fluency of third-party apps by up to 88% and reduce their power consumption by up to 16%.</p>

<p>Other notable features of the MIUI 14 include customizable folders with large icons, new widget options with various shapes and sizes, automatic compression for less-used apps, and a toggle to turn off permanent notifications. <p>According to the listing, the Xiaomi 22081281AC tablet has an octa-core processor with one prime core clocked at 3.19GHz, three cores clocked at 2.42GHz, and four cores clocked at 1.8GHz. This chipset also has the Adreno 650 GPU onboard, making it pretty clear that this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC.</p>
<p>The chipset is paired with 8GB RAM and runs on an Android 12-based operating system, which is likely the MIUI 13. Moving on to the performance of the tablet, it scores 886 points in the single-core test and 3117 points in the multi-core test of Geekbench 5.</p>
<p>If the report of it being the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4&#8243; turns out to be true, we can expect the tablet to launch on August 11 in the Chinese market.</p>

<p>A teaser was posted by company CEO Lei Jun yesterday who revealed that MIUI 13 Pad will be going big on multitasking, allowing at least two apps to be visible at the same time. On top of that, the OS has also adapted the top 3000 apps for larger screens so that not even a single inch is wasted.</p>
<p>A few other tablet-specific optimizations and features are likely there too but we would have to wait until tomorrow to see them. For the uninitiated, Xiaomi has scheduled a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/27/xiaomi-biggest-launch-event-this-year-is-here-xiaomi-12-miui-13-more/">major end-of-year launch event</a> where a number of new products are expected to be launched, including Xiaomi 12, Watch S1, and of course, MIUI 13 along with MIUI 13 Pad.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/27/miui-13-pad-announced-the-same-os-except-its-optimized-for-tablets/xiaomi-miui-13-pad-teaser-2/'><img width="360" height="480" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-miui-13-pad-teaser-2.jpg?x44794" class="attachment-full size-full" alt="xiaomi miui 13 pad teaser 2" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-miui-13-pad-teaser-2.jpg 360w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-miui-13-pad-teaser-2-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-miui-13-pad-teaser-2-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px" /></a>
</p>
<p>The unveiling of MIUI 13 Pad comes at a time when smartphone OEMs are increasingly focusing on enhancing their Android skins to better adapt to larger screens &#8211; the reason for this being the pandemic that has acted as a major accelerator for tablet sales due to increased emphasis on WFH culture and online learning. And what good is a tablet if its UI can&#8217;t make use of the additional screen estate?</p>
<p>As for MIUI 13 itself, the update is bringing a number of new features but is prioritizing fluidity and privacy over everything else. Still, a few meaningful changes have been done including entirely reworked widgets for system apps.</p>

A number of products are set to be unveiled and the company&#8217;s socials have already started <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/27/lei-jun-tease-xiaomi-12-box-anti-leak-parody-video/">dropping teasers</a> for them. Of course, the biggest highlights are the Xiaomi 12 lineup and the MIUI 13 update, but the event will also be lifting the curtains on other much-awaited products including the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro, TWS Earphones 3, and the Buds 3, all of which have been described below.</p>
<h4><strong>Xiaomi 12 series</strong></h4>
<p>The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi-12-series">Xiaomi 12 series</a> is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated launches of this year and has been making rounds all over the internet for the past couple of months. With extensive leaks already having revealed most about it, the only thing that remains is a release, and we are now closer than ever to it.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_433146" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-433146" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-433146" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-1024x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi 12" width="696" height="696" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY-420x420.jpg 420w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/FHgbY.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-433146" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi 12</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The Xiaomi 12 series is comprised of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/27/xiaomi-12-series-xiaomi-watch-s1-rumor-roundup-specs-price-colors-more-what-to-expect/">Xiaomi 12</a>, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12 Ultra, and the Xiaomi 12X, but it appears that the latter two&#8217;s launch event is reserved for 2022. The Xiaomi 12 has been revealed to have a very manageable 6.28-inch display, making it the first compact flagship from the company in years. On the other hand, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/27/xiaomi-12-pro-to-feature-quad-speakers-tuned-by-harman-kardon/">Xiaomi 12 Pro</a> goes for a more prevalent screen size of 6.73-inches. Both phones have been marketed as having made some notable strides in the camera department, thanks to the inclusion of a new &#8216;Xiaomi Image Brain&#8217; tech. The devices are also expected to be one of the first to come with the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Snapdragon-8-Gen-1">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> chipset.</p>
<h4><strong>MIUI 13</strong></h4>
<p>Xiaomi fans would be more excited for the Android skin upgrade, however, especially since the company has been rather late in rolling out <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Android-12">Android 12</a> for its devices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-433251 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/miui-13-upgrade-screen-3-473x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="miui 13 upgrade screen 3" width="473" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/miui-13-upgrade-screen-3-473x1024.jpg 473w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/miui-13-upgrade-screen-3-139x300.jpg 139w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/miui-13-upgrade-screen-3-194x420.jpg 194w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/miui-13-upgrade-screen-3.jpg 591w" sizes="(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px" /></p>
<p>Judging from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/27/miui-13-takes-privacy-a-step-further-to-come-with-system-level-anti-fraud/">screenshots</a>, not much seems to have been changed in terms of the UI except for the system app widgets that have gotten reworked entirely. Apart from this, Xiaomi claims that the update is a whole lot more fluid and brings a number of improvements to security and privacy.</p>
<h4><strong>Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro</strong></h4>
<p>The Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro isn&#8217;t exactly a new launch as it was released in August this year but it now gets a new variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It was earlier selling in only 6GB+128GB and 6GB+256GB RAM and storage options, so the new variant should be a treat for workaholics that have to constantly switch between a hundred apps or for the gamers out there. Full specifications of the tablet can be inspected from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/07/xiaomi-pad-5-pro-starts-retailing-via-giztop-with-an-introductory-discount-of-upto-70/">here</a>.</p>
<h4><strong>Xiaomi Watch S1</strong></h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-433315 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-watch-s1-teaser-768x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi watch s1 teaser" width="696" height="928" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-watch-s1-teaser-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-watch-s1-teaser-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-watch-s1-teaser-696x928.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-watch-s1-teaser-315x420.jpg 315w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-watch-s1-teaser.jpg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/27/xiaomi-12-series-xiaomi-watch-s1-rumor-roundup-specs-price-colors-more-what-to-expect/">Xiaomi Watch S1</a> will be a part of an entirely new lineup of smartwatches and will feature a circular design. Teasers from today say that it&#8217;s aimed at &#8220;business professionals&#8221; and that the S in its name stands for &#8216;strong,&#8217; which is quite appropriate considering it got sapphire glass up front.</p>
<h4><strong>Xiaomi TWS Noise Cancelling Earbuds 3</strong></h4>
<p>The Xiaomi TWS Noise Cancelling Earbuds 3 or the Xiaomi Buds 3, whatever you wish to call them, are the non-Pro variant of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/29/xiaomi-buds-3-pro-review-new-pinnacle-of-xiaomi-earbuds/">Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro</a> released earlier this year. They have been revealed to have a Hi-Fi sound quality, made possible through super dynamic dual magnetic units. The ANC feature has been claimed to reduce noise by 40dB.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-433316 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-buds-3-teaser-768x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi buds 3 teaser" width="696" height="928" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-buds-3-teaser-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-buds-3-teaser-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-buds-3-teaser-696x928.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-buds-3-teaser-315x420.jpg 315w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/xiaomi-buds-3-teaser.jpg 960w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Xiaomi has established itself as one of the leaders in the smartphone business and its great brand image in that market has bled into its other ventures as well, resulting in good overall sales no matter what the product. It&#8217;s thus safe to assume that all of the Xiaomi products to be launched with the December launch event will be selling like hotcakes too.</p>
