Smartisan Nut Pro 2 Out Of The Box Tour: Redefines Premium Mid-range Models

by Jed John 17

Chinese smartphone maker Smartisan announced its latest smartphone model which kept up with the trendy full-view display design. Even though the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 as it is called is a mid-range model, it is a premium one at that as it features a stunning design that stands out among its peers and is pretty impressive. Despite the topnotch design the Nut Pro 2 starts at just 1799 Yuan (~$270)! Isn’t that amazing?Smartisan Nut Pro 2

The Nut Pro 2 features a 5.99-inch in-cell display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 2160 x 1080 resolution. It features a glass body with a metal frame. The Smartisan Nut Pro 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest premium mid-range Snapdragon 660 SoC and Smartisan is making the model available in up to five memory variants. You get a 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant, 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, and 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM variant. The device packs a 16MP F/2.2 camera at the front which has AI beauty modes and uses the ArcSoft bokeh technology for portrait selfies.Smartisan Nut Pro 2

The full-screen display means the Nut Pro 2 doesn’t feature a front home button, rather it uses virtual buttons while the fingerprint sensor is mounted at the rear at the same spot as the company’s logo. At the rear, there is a dual camera setup which has a 12MP Sony IMX386 primary sensor with 1.25um wide-angle sensor, f1.8 aperture and PDAF. The secondary rear sensor is a 5MP Samsung S5K4E8 1.4um sensor with f2.0 aperture. The secondary camera is a depth of field sensor which utilises the ArcSoft dual camera bokeh technology.Smartisan Nut Pro 2

Would it be possible for European people to buy this Smartisan piece of art? If Yes when and where, do you know? I am interested and I think i am not alone, but i (we) need to know some serious e-shop i can buy this lovely machine from with full guaranty and delivery service. Hope soon for EU version as well. Very well done ”SMARTassISAN” 🙂 good luck in the future. Hm, If This is a mid range smartphone i am seriously very curious for high end Flag Ship, hope they working on it.

There’s always a way to buy these phones, you usually have to import from China though. Gearbest, Giztop, Banggood, and a few other less renown ones – and possibly Amazon and Ebay – will probably stock it. I do agree that this, for a midranger, is very impressive.

    • We’ll keep you updated whenever it is stocked by online retailers.

I don’t think it would get full warranty unless the company itself launches the phone there. You will have to buy it from resellers, who do not have the resources to provide full warranty.

  • Shad8x .

Looks amazing, i would love to buy it. But does it actually have NFC ? Is that confirmed information ? And is there a chance for a review of this beatiful device ?

    • Watch out for the review on Gizmo.

Hey take a pic of the sim tray. Many sites say it has expandable storage. I wanna know if its hybrid sim or if it has a dedicated memory card slot.

    • nolimitsdesigns

      umm, they have?

    • No dedicated microSD slot. Just two Nano SIM slots which mean that you may have to sacrifice a SIM for storage card.

  • Blue Gum

    That screen does not impress.

I would cross off Mi Mix 2 and Huawei Mate 10 for this phone, definitely my next phone. Red wine colour is crazy good looking, hope the Giztop will have it available ASAP with a price of 300 $ for the base version would be amazing.

no 3.5mm headphone jack for flagship models like iphone x, pixel 2 is acceptable,
but removing headphone jack for premium midrange is not!!! Damn..a otherwise perfect phone

  • The Truth Must Be Said

People should know these flaws before buying it
(for me I accept these flaws and I am going to buy it from the chinese Amazon)
1- ROM (internal storage) is eMMC 5.1, not UFS 2.x
2- All models have no NFC but the 256GB model, it supports NFC.
3- Smartisan does not upgrade the Android version in thier devices, it updates the software and adds new features but it does not upgrade the Android itself to a newer version , this means if this phone realesed with Android 7.1.1, it will stay on this version forever, but it will recieve the new features that come with a newer Smartisan device that come with Android 8.

You seem to know about their phones. This looks nice, but do you know if it’ll receive any security patches? My Zuk Z2pro hardly gets any…

      • The Truth Must Be Said

I have thier flagship for 2016, Smartisan M1L, which was released on October 2016, I just checked it and it has February 2017 patch till this moment.

Maybe it will recieve a new security patch with the new major update that coming to my device on January 2018.

        • Patric

          Thanks!
Then they are even worse, unfortunately. I’m on June 2017 but that is only one out of two updates within a year. I doubt I’ll see another.
But good to hear that there’s a planned update for you. So maybe there’s hope after all 😀

Thanks for your comment, so basically it is better to get the Mi Note 3 from Xiaomi which will receive regular software updates during more than 2 years. I don’t care if a phone do not have French language because I am fine with English but the community behind a phone is very important for me in case I encounter troubles with my phone. I was really motivated to get the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 with 4gb ram and 64gb storage but I have changed my mind, I will go for the Mi Note 3 even if the Nut Pro 2 kills it in terms of design and screen size ratio.
