The handset measures 156.4 x 75.8 x 7.5mm and weighs 169 grams.
The Snapdragon 710 chipset will be powering the Mi 8 Youth Edition. It will be the second SD710 phone from the company after Mi 8 SE that was unveiled in May this year. To attract the youth, the handset will come equipped with AI driven 24-megapixel front-facing camera. At the rear side of the phone will be a pair of horizontally aligned 12-megapixel snapper and a fingerprint reader. It will be loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS and latest version of MIUI. The other features of the smartphone include infrared sensor, microSD card slot and 3,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi 8 Youth Edition will be hitting the Chinese markets in color options like Twilight Gold, Fantasy Blue and Deep Gray. The handset is speculated to carry a starting price of 1,999 Yuan (~$291).
The Mi 8 Youth Edition smartphone is already available for reservations in China. The smartphone is expected to debut in some markets like Singapore as Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite.
