Honor is expected to announce the Honor V40 smartphone in January 2021. It was reported yesterday that the company may announce it on Jan. 12. An unofficial poster of the Honor V40 is now doing rounds on Weibo. It showcases the curved edge display of the smartphone.

A portion of the bottom edge and the left side of the alleged Honor V40 can be seen in the poster.  A SIM card slot and a USB-C port can be seen on the bottom side of the smartphone. It seems to feature a metallic frame.

As far as the display is concerned, the rumor mill has revealed that the Honor V40 could be arriving with a 6.72-inch screen FHD+ display. The top-left corner of the screen could be featuring a pill-shaped cutout for its two front-facing cameras.

The Honor V40 is expected to carry support for a 120Hz refresh rate and its touch sampling rate could be 300Hz. There are speculations it could be housing the same 6.72-inch OLED panel that is available on the recently unveiled Huawei Nova 8 Pro handset. Last year, the Honor V30 featured a 6.57-inch IPS LCD FHD+ panel with a dual punch-hole design and the Nova 6 5G also sported the same sized display with a dual punch-hole design.

The Dimensity 1000+ chipset by MediaTek could be present under the hood of the Honor V40. The handset may arrive with support for 66W fast charging. It is speculated that the phone may also offer 45W fast wireless charging.

There are contradictions regarding the rear design of the Honor V40. A fan-made poster recently revealed that it could be housing a round-shaped camera module. Other reports have claimed that the V40 could be coming with a rectangle-shaped camera housing and the design of its quad cameras could be like the Nova 8 / 8 Pro handset
