During the Samsung Developer Conference 2022, Samsung officially introduced One UI 5.0, which is based on the Android 13 OS. The South Korean tech giant has confirmed that the S22 series will be treated with the new OS upgrade this month (October).

So far, the company has rolled out four beta editions of the One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S22 lineup in some markets. While it is unclear whether the fourth beta update will be the final one, it is certain that the S22 users will get the stable update by the end of this month.

It goes without saying that the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra will be the first Samsung phones to get the One UI 5.0-based Android 13 OS upgrade. The release timeline may vary according to the region.

Some of the new features that will arrive on the One UI 5 include the Bixby Text Call, which can answer phone calls by typing a message. Bixby will be able to convert text to audio and share it to the caller. It will also show what the caller is saying by converting their voice to text.

Routines can trigger a sequence of actions based on the activities of the user. Modes can create customized settings for sleeping, relaxing, exercising, and driving. The One UI 5.0 offers deeper integration of Android 13’s Material You design. Some of its other features include Stacked widgets, extracting text from images, a new Connected devices menu with options like Quick Share, Smart View, and Samsung DeX, a security and privacy dashboard, a new Dynamic lockscreen, multi-user support, and more.

By the end of the month, Samsung will release the full OneUI 5 rollout roadmap.
