On Dec. 15, Motorola unveiled the Moto X40 flagship phone as well as the Moto G53 5G, as an entry-level 5G phone. While the Moto X40 is already available for purchase, the G53 has been available for pre-orders since its launch. Starting today, the G53 will be made available for purchase for the first time.

The Moto G53 5G is available in two configurations: 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, and 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. These variants are priced at 899 Yuan (~$130) and 1,099 Yuan (~$159), respectively. It is available in white and black.

The Moto G53 5G has a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with a punch-hole design. It delivers an HD+ resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone boots to My UI 5.0 based on Android 13 OS. For security, it has a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

Under the hood, the G53 is powered by the Snapdragon 480 Plus chipset. The device offers up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging. The retail package for the device includes a 10W charger.

The G53 has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Its back panel has a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and an LED flash. It has a side-facing fingerprint scanner. The device measures 162.7 x 74.66 x 8.19mm and weighs around 183 grams.

In related news, a recent report revealed that Motorola will also release the Moto G53 on the global market. It revealed that the global edition will be different from the Chinese edition. The G53’s global edition is expected to arrive with a 6.6-inch OLED FHD+ 90Hz display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of built-in storage, a 5,000mAh battery with 20W charging, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit.
