Vivo Y78+ 5G has been announced in China without any fanfare. As reports have revealed, it is the first-ever Y-series Vivo phone to come equipped with a curved-edge display. The handset also offers other key features, such as a 50-megapixel dual camera system with OIS support, a Snapdragon 6-series chip, and 44W charging support. Here is a look at the specifications, features, and price of the device.
Vivo Y78+ 5G specifications and features
The Vivo Y78+ 5G boasts a large OLED screen of 6.78 inches, which provides a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, a 105 percent NTSC color gamut, an 8000000:1 contrast ratio, and 1,00 nits of brightness. It has an 8-megapixel camera on the front for taking selfies and making video calls.
On the back, the Y78+ 5G houses a dual-camera unit with an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel portrait lens, and a dual-LED flash. The Y78+ comes preloaded with the latest Android 13 OS with the OriginOS OS 3 UI on top.
To power the Y78+, Vivo has equipped it with a Snapdragon 695 chipset. It comes with up to 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The Y78+ also comes with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging.
The Y78+ 5G comes with other features like dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone measures 162.24 x 74.79 x 7.89mm and weighs 177 grams.
Vivo Y78+ 5G price and availability
The Vivo Y78+ 5G comes in three different variants. The first variant, which offers 8GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$232). The second model with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage costs 1,799 Yuan (~$261). The third model that offers 12GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at 1,999 (~$290), respectively. The Y78+ will be available in three different colors, Moon Shadow Black, Warm Sun Gold, and Sky Blue. It is currently uncertain whether the device will be available outside of China. In the home market, it will go on sale starting April 26.
