The Honor 90 series has just been officially announced in the Chinese market. The new lineup is the successor to the Honor 80 series that was announced back in November 2022 and is the latest entry in its high end offering.

Honor 90 Pro: Design & Display

The new premium grade smartphones features a stylish new design with a sleek body that is somewhat resembles its predecessor as well. But a notable difference is the inclusion of two oval shaped camera modules that are separated rather than being connected with one another. These modules are dubbed as the Dual ring Design and is inspired by haute couture and craftsmanship seen in luxury jewelry. The rear features a glass body with a metallic frame. It weighs 192 grams and has a maximum thickness of just 8.1mm.

Meanwhile, the front sports a 6.78 inch curved display that features curves on the edges. The panel offers 1.5K+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1600 nits of peak brightness, and 3850Hz PWM dimming. It also offers a high screen to body ratio of 94.4 percent, 1.07 billion colors, and DCI P3 wide color gamut as well. Similar to the previous gen model, the Honor 90 Pro also has a pill shaped punch hole that houses the dual front facing cameras for selfies. The new quad curved display also promises to be eye friendly and simulate natural light to help reduce eye strain thanks to its Circadian Night Display technology.

Performance

The higher end Honor 90 Pro is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which is the same chipset that was found on the Honor 80 Pro model. This chipset is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Under the hood, a large 5,000mAh battery pack powers the new device, which also supports an impressive 100W fast charging rate.

Unlike its former parent company Huawei, the device from the brand offer support for the newer and faster 5G networking. Furthermore, the device will run on Android 13 OS based MagicOS 7.1 out of the box. Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.2, support for LDAC, AptX, and AptX HD codecs, under display fingerprint scanner, and USB Type C port for charging and data transfers.

Cameras

The Honor 90 Pro features a triple camera setup on the rear that consists of a 200 megapixel Samsung HP3 sensor that has a wide f/1.9 aperture. It is paired with the 32 megapixel telephoto 68mm sensor that has a 2.5x optical zoom, an f/2.2 aperture, and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) support. Apart from this, there are also a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens as well, with an f/2.2 aperture. On the other hand, the front houses a dual camera sensor setup for selfies that consists of a 50 megapixel primary shooter and a 2 megapixel depth of field sensor.

Pricing & Availability

The company has just announced the new Honor 90 Pro for its home market of China, with pre-orders also kicking off. Honor’s new device arrives in multiple color options, including a Diamond Silver, Peacock Blue, Emerald Green, and Midnight Black variant. It has a starting price tag of 3,299 Yuan (roughly 466 US Dollars) for its base 12GB + 256GB model. There is also a 16GB + 256GB variant that costs 3,599 Yuan (roughly 508 US Dollars) as well as a 16GB + 512GB model that has a 3,899 Yuan (roughly 550 US Dollars) price tag.
