Nubia recently launched the Nubia Flip foldable smartphone in China. The phone targets the mid-range segment, making it one of the few affordable clamshell devices on the market. The company has now opened up global pre-orders alongside its launch in China.

The device starts at $499 for the 8GB/256GB model, making it the most cost-effective foldable phone on the market. A higher-end version with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is also available for $699. Pre-orders are now open through the Nubia store.

The Nubia Flip is available to pre-order in several countries, including the US, Australia, Singapore, and many in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with sales starting on April 23. No information has been provided about its release in the EU and UK.

The Nubia Flip 5G features a 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED foldable display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It includes a 1.43-inch outer AMOLED screen for quick access to notifications. The device’s dual-rail suspended hinge is claimed to endure over 200,000 openings.

The foldable is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, which was launched by Qualcomm back in 2022. The processor is paired with up to 12 GB RAM, 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage, and an Android 13-based operating system.

In terms of cameras, it includes a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor, along with a 16MP front-facing camera. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.

Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, USB Type-C, and NFC. It comes with a 4310mAh battery supporting 33W fast charging, capable of fully recharging the phone in about 73 minutes.
