TCL has announced the 27P2A Ultra gaming monitor, a new display built for competitive gaming. The monitor was revealed alongside the 27C3A Pro QD-Mini LED gaming monitor, but the 27P2A Ultra stands out because of its extremely high 1040Hz refresh rate.

If the claim holds, the 27P2A Ultra will become the first Mini LED gaming monitor to go past the 1000 Hz refresh rate mark. Such a high refresh rate is mainly aimed at esports players who want the fastest possible motion response and the lowest input delay.

However, the monitor cannot reach its maximum refresh rate at its full resolution. TCL confirmed that the display supports 550Hz at its native 2K resolution. The company did not reveal what resolution is required to achieve the full 1040Hz refresh rate. That said, it is expected to be 720p, as any lower resolution will make it a hard sell. To achieve this high refresh rate, the brand has claimed to use the TCL CSOT “HFS Shoot” high-speed panel.

This is not the first time a 1040Hz display has been shown. Back in December, Samsung introduced its Samsung Odyssey G6 (G60H) monitor. It features a 27-inch QHD panel with a 600Hz refresh rate. However, Samsung’s monitor uses an IPS panel instead of a Mini LED panel.

For now, pricing and availability details for both the Samsung model and the 1040Hz monitor from TCL have not been announced.

TCL CSOT is at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, showing off display tech focused on efficiency over higher resolution. The TCL Technology subsidiary is presenting Super Pixel technology for phones alongside progress in fine-metal-mask OLED, inkjet-printed OLED, and MLED under its APEX brand.

Super Pixel changes how pixels are arranged rather than cramming in more of them. TCL CSOT boosts sub-pixel count by 1.8% to match WQHD SPR sharpness while cutting power use up to 25% through better data processing. The Real RGB layout needs less bandwidth than SPR, pushing refresh rates up to 40% higher.

The real bet is on inkjet-printed OLED manufacturing. TCL CSOT says it spent over a decade on IJP OLED research and started mass production from its G5.5 line in Wuhan in November 2024. Construction kicked off on October 21, 2025 on an 8.6-generation facility in Guangzhou after a $4.15 billion investment. Inkjet printing puts down OLED materials without masks and cuts contamination, but scaling it up is hard because of issues with drying control, production speed, and material limits compared to vacuum evaporation.

TCL CSOT is showing concept hardware to prove what printed OLED can do: a 28-inch tri-fold monitor with a 1.8mm folding radius and 4.48mm profile, plus a 14-inch laptop panel that’s 0.77mm thick and weighs 77 grams.

The timing matters because competition for large OLED production is heating up. Samsung Display’s Gen-8.6 FMM tandem OLED line could hit mass production in Q2 2026, with panels headed to Apple MacBook Pro models. TCL CSOT is taking a different route with printed OLED to reach the same IT display market.

TCL CSOT is exhibiting March 2 to 5 at Fira Gran Via, Hall 2, Stand 2M30, during the GSMA show in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.

Looking ahead, the ambitions of TCL could spell bigger trouble for Samsung. The company’s upcoming partnership with Sony’s Bravia brand, set to finalize in March 2026, positions TCL to make a serious play in the premium TV market, a territory that Samsung has historically dominated with its high-end OLED and 8K offerings. At the conference, a clear message emerged from one of the world’s largest consumer electronics makers: artificial intelligence is not just a buzzword—it’s a tool for tangible, vertical integration. In an exclusive interview with Gizmochina, Daniel Sun, CTO of TCL Industries, shed light on how the company is weaving AI into everything from TVs and air conditioners to its own advanced display factories, all while staying grounded in what he calls “experience-first” technology.

Beyond the Hype: AI as an Enabler, Not a Magic Wand

Sun began by addressing widespread misconceptions about AI. “For consumers, intelligence might mean using an app to turn off an air conditioner remotely,” he said. “For engineers, that’s simply Wi‑Fi, apps, and cloud services.” This gap, he argues, is where many tech companies lose sight of the real goal: delivering meaningful experiences rather than chasing the latest model for its own sake.

He emphasized that not every product needs—or can run—a large language model (LLM). “Many problems can be solved with small models,” Sun explained, pointing to quality inspection in TCL CSOT’s display manufacturing. “Using an AI device with a camera to inspect panel circuits is like an airport X-ray scan. It used to be manual; now it’s fully automated—and it doesn’t require an LLM.”

Why TCL CSOT Built Its Own AI: The X-Intelligence 3.0 Story

When asked about TCL CSOT’s homegrown AI system, X-Intelligence 3.0, Sun outlined two core motivations. First, public LLMs lack deep, proprietary knowledge. “We attached our specialized display materials data to the world’s best LLMs, and the results were surprisingly poor,” he said. “The model simply wasn’t pretrained on this domain.” In other words, they couldn’t comprehend highly specialized, cutting-edge knowledge.

The second driver is organizational efficiency. Sun pointed out that in corporations with thousands of employees, decision-making processes tend to decelerate. He emphasized that while AI cannot instantly replicate human agility, it serves as a powerful accelerator in domains such as operational analysis, process optimization, and high-value task automation — a view supported by its growing role in enhancing enterprise workflow efficiency.

From Living Rooms to Factories: AI in Action

On the product side, TCL is taking an open‑ecosystem approach. In the U.S., TCL TVs now integrate Google’s Gemini, enabling voice-activated content discovery, educational YouTube browsing, and smart‑home control. In China, the company uses cloud-based LLMs—quantized and cost-optimized—to power natural language TV interfaces for under a dollar per device per year.

But AI isn’t just for the end user. In manufacturing, LLMs and small models work in tandem. At the TCL CSOT Guangzhou t9 factory, which Gizmochina toured on December 11, AI assists in everything from panel defect detection to production scheduling. The t9 line—the world’s only large-generation line compatible with LCD, Micro LED, and inkjet-printed OLED—relies on AI to maintain precision across its 180,000 glass substrates monthly capacity. Capable of producing 6- to 100-inch panels, the t9 line enables applications spanning smartphones, tablets, notebooks, vehicle displays, monitors, TVs, and large-format commercial screens.

The Hidden AI Star: Energy‑Saving and New Product Horizons

Beyond TVs, TCL’s application of small models has delivered measurable gains in areas such as air conditioning. The company’s compressors now leverage real-time optimization algorithms that significantly reduce energy consumption—reportedly by up to 40% in initial operating hours, with sustained savings exceeding 18% thereafter. This advancement not only lowers household costs but also supports broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives, reflecting a tangible example of AI-driven efficiency in mature product categories.

TCL has also begun channeling AI into entirely new product segments. Two notable directions in its roadmap include AR glasses—deeply integrated with large language model interactions—and a future generation of household robots designed as companion-oriented devices. These efforts signal a strategic move beyond incremental product enhancements toward what the company describes as “AI-native, AI-rich” innovations, where artificial intelligence fundamentally defines the user experience and product functionality.

Xiaomi has fully transitioned its flagship smartphone lineup to TCL CSOT displays, with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and 17 Ultra Leica Edition being the latest to feature the company’s advanced Real RGB panel technology. TCL CSOT now serves as the exclusive display supplier for the entire Xiaomi 17 series, including the 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max models.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9-inch 2K flat OLED panel. The display uses TCL CSOT’s M10 light-emitting material and supports a 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate. It delivers up to 3500 nits of peak brightness, offering high visibility in direct sunlight and improved HDR performance. TCL CSOT designed this display solution specifically to match Xiaomi’s hardware needs for clarity, color accuracy, and power efficiency.

Unlike conventional OLED panels that rely on a PenTile sub-pixel arrangement, TCL CSOT’s Real RGB layout assigns a dedicated red, green, and blue sub-pixel to every pixel. This approach eliminates sub-pixel sharing and color fringing. It also improves text sharpness and overall image clarity, making the panel appear as sharp as a traditional 2K display without the visual compromises found in most OLEDs.

According to TCL Central, the new display reaches a luminous efficiency of 82.1 cd/A, allowing it to maintain high brightness levels with lower power consumption. The use of Real RGB combined with a power-efficient LTPO backplane results in up to 26% energy savings compared to previous display generations.

The Real RGB display was first introduced on the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max earlier this year. The 17 Pro Max also debuted a 2.9-inch rear AMOLED screen, while the 17 Ultra removes the secondary display to focus on camera performance. Xiaomi optimized the Ultra’s display to support LOFIC HDR, allowing it to accurately reproduce the dynamic range captured by the device’s 1-inch sensor.

Xiaomi and TCL CSOT have expanded their cooperation since establishing a strategic partnership in 2017. The companies set up a display innovation laboratory in 2021, followed by a Phase II expansion in July 2025. This collaboration allows Xiaomi to request precise hardware tuning for its flagship models, replacing reliance on off-the-shelf components from other suppliers.

TCL has launched the Little Blue Wing P7 Ultra, its first smart health air conditioner powered by the OpenHarmony operating system. The 1.5HP wall-mounted model is priced at 5,999 yuan ($852) and features advanced AI-driven technologies focused on sleep quality, air purification, and energy efficiency.

The air conditioner is equipped with TCL’s new AI Healthy Sleep system. It uses a millimeter-wave radar-based sensor called AI Sleep Eye to detect human presence, body movement, and sleep stages within a 5-meter range.

The system adjusts airflow, temperature, and wind direction in real time based on subtle sleep-related movements such as turning over or pulling a blanket. It also uses AI genetic algorithms to learn long-term sleep habits and create personalized temperature curves.

TCL has included a dual-cycle fresh air system that supports a maximum airflow of 60 cubic meters per hour. It uses micro positive pressure ventilation to bring in oxygen-rich outdoor air while maintaining indoor air pressure.

The system can filter PM2.5 particles with 99.55% efficiency, carbon dioxide with 99.10% efficiency, and formaldehyde with 91.94% efficiency. When outdoor air quality is poor, the unit switches to internal circulation and purifies indoor air. It also features a built-in TVOC gas sensor that displays air quality levels through a color-coded indicator.

The P7 Ultra supports TCL’s One-Touch AI Good Air mode powered by its Fuxi AI model. The system analyzes indoor and outdoor conditions and automatically adjusts temperature, humidity, and airflow. It also includes Soft Wind 5.0 technology, which uses perforated swing blades and dual-layer airflow guides to reduce discomfort caused by direct air.

For control, the air conditioner supports over one million offline voice commands. It is compatible with third-party ecosystems such as Tmall Genie, Baidu Xiaodu, and Huawei devices. The device also integrates HiSilicon’s StarFlash Wi-Fi 6 chip and achieves Grade 1 energy efficiency with an APF of 5.60.

TCL has officially introduced the A400 Pro, a new QD Mini LED Art TV in the Chinese market. It is designed to blend high-end display performance with a gallery-style design. The TV is available in five sizes: 55, 65, 75, 85, and 98 inches.

TCL A400 Pro Specifications

Since this is an Art TV, it comes with a design that treats the screen like a piece of gallery decor. TCL uses a light walnut-textured frame shaped through a one-piece bending process that eliminates visible seams and keeps the exterior clean for minimalist interiors.

The matte canvas finish cuts reflections and gives the surface a look similar to painted artwork. TCL keeps the entire lineup slim, with a depth of 3.99 cm up to 75 inches, 4.15 cm for the 85-inch model, and 4.45 cm for the 98-inch version.

The A400 Pro features TCL’s QD Mini LED panel technology with independent local dimming zones and high brightness control. It uses Quantum Dot Pro materials that reach 157 percent of the BT.709 color gamut and achieve a professional-grade Delta E value of under 0.99.

The TV supports native 4K 144Hz refresh rate and up to 288Hz through TCL’s DLG mode. It includes VRR, ALLM, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro for gaming. TCL has equipped the TV with its TSR AI image engine for scene detection, backlight control, and motion optimization.

TCL ships the A400 Pro with its Lingkong OS 3.0, which supports app installations, casting from Android and iOS, multi-protocol file sharing, and user profiles. The interface allows instant switching between TV and Art modes with no boot ads. The system runs on the Fuxi large language model and includes more than 18 AI agents across education, entertainment, fitness, and other categories.

The A400 Pro supports Art Mode, which features over 100 classic artworks from global museums. It can display them as stills or animate elements into dynamic paintings. The system also includes an AI generation tool that lets users create custom artworks by selecting styles and prompts.

On the audio front, TCL uses an Onkyo Hi-Fi speaker system with a side-firing layout to maintain clarity when mounted close to a wall. The TV supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

Connectivity includes four HDMI 2.1 ports, USB 3.0, Wi-Fi 6, and support for NAS protocols such as FTP, SMB, and NFS. The TV offers 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage across most models.

TCL CSOT introduced a major leap in display technology with the debut of the world’s first 5.65-inch Real Stripe RGB OLED phone panel built on printed OLED technology. The display delivers 390 PPI and reaches visual clarity comparable to 490 PPI because of its Real Stripe pixel arrangement. The announcement signals TCL’s commitment to high-precision inkjet printing as a next-generation manufacturing method for OLED panels.

The reveal took place at the company’s 2025 Global Display Tech-Ecosystem Conference in Suzhou, where TCL CSOT presented multiple innovations across OLED, LCD, and Micro LED categories. Printed OLED remained a central theme.

TCL highlighted environmental advantages, noting that its t12 G5.5 printed OLED line can save 300 to 400 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year due to fewer vacuum processing steps. The company has also started developing the t8 G8.6 line, which it says is the world’s first mass-production printed OLED facility at that scale.

TCL CSOT also introduced a range of record-setting displays across OLED, Micro LED, and MLED categories. In the gaming and productivity segments, TCL CSOT introduced a 16-inch IJP OLED laptop display with 2.5K resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. The company also showed a 57-inch 8K MLED gaming panel with a 1000Hz refresh rate, powered by its custom 6G2P driver IC and CSPI 5.1 protocol.

For tablets, TCL CSOT revealed a 13.2-inch OLED display with partitioned refresh zones, allowing multiple tasks to run at different refresh rates simultaneously. The display supports variable refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz using an LTPO backplane.

The company also introduced a 28-inch tri-fold OLED display that folds down to 16 inches and a 6.73-inch folding OLED smartphone panel with the narrowest bezels in its class. TCL claims it can withstand up to 400,000 bends at room temperature.

Alongside these, CSOT also showcased a 163-inch panel featuring a 37,500:1 contrast ratio, ultra-low-reflection encapsulation, hybrid PWM+PAM driving, 24-bit color depth, 144Hz refresh rate, and real-time brightness adjustment, with its large-panel design reducing bezel gaps and improving installation efficiency.

TCL CSOT says it plans to expand its display lineup across categories while advancing ecosystem development around printed OLED and AI-driven display technology.

TCL has entered the US gaming monitor market for the first time. The company announced its new QD-Mini LED gaming monitors during the Call of Duty: NEXT showcase. This move expands TCL’s ongoing partnership with Activision, where it now serves as the official TV, soundbar, and gaming monitor partner for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

TCL debuted three new gaming monitor series: G64, R84, and R94. All models use QD-Mini LED display technology that combines high brightness and precise local dimming. TCL said the technology delivers better black levels, strong contrast, and vivid color at a lower cost than OLED.

The Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 features an 11-inch FHD+ Nxtpaper 4.0 display that filters 61% more blue light compared to standard LCD panels. It comes with reduced glare and delivers a softer, paper-like viewing experience suitable for reading and everyday use.

It sports a dedicated Nxtpaper button that allows users to switch between Ink Paper, Color Paper, and standard display modes. The screen reaches a peak brightness of 500 nits in sunlight. However, it only supports a refresh rate of up to 60Hz.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a MediaTek MT8786 octa-core processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and an additional 8GB of virtual RAM expansion. It includes 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1TB via microSD.

The Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 runs Android 15 out of the box, bringing the latest security, personalization, and multitasking features. TCL has added its suite of AI-powered tools, including Smart Voice Memo for transcriptions and mind maps, Writing Assist for email or essay drafting, and real-time video subtitles. The tablet also supports Google’s Circle to Search for quick visual lookups and includes a Smart Translator that works with text, images, and voice inputs.

Coming to the optics, the tablet features a 5MP front camera that supports clear video calls. On the back, it sports an 8MP camera with autofocus and an LED flash. Both cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps.

TCL equips the Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 with an 8000mAh battery that can last up to 19.9 hours during 720p video playback, according to internal tests. The tablet supports 18W PD fast charging over USB-C and can even reverse charge other devices, functioning as a backup power bank. In standby mode, TCL claims the device can last up to 59 days.

The tablet features a slim 7.3mm metal body, weighs 500g, and carries an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. It includes dual speakers and dual microphones for better audio during media playback and calls. The device supports the T-Pen for low-latency handwriting with a paper-like feel. For connectivity, it includes USB-C 2.0, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0, but it lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pricing and Availability

The TCL Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 is now available on Amazon in two configurations. The base WiFi model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, bundled with a flip case and T-Pen, is priced at $269.99. The higher-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, also including the same accessories, is priced at $299.99.

TCL has launched the Thunderbird Q9 34-inch QD-Mini LED gaming monitor in China. The display is listed on JD.com at 3,999 yuan ($560), and the company is including a mechanical arm for early buyers.

TCL Thunderbird Q9 Specifications

The Thunderbird Q9 features a 3440 × 1440 WQHD resolution on a 21:9 curved panel with a 1500R curvature. The screen uses CSOT’s Apex Fast HVA panel, which supports a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms GTG response time. It also features AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync technologies to eliminate screen tearing.

The monitor uses a Mini LED backlight with 2,304 local dimming zones, delivering a 4000:1 static contrast ratio and a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. It reaches 1,600 nits peak brightness with VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification, while covering 98% of DCI-P3 and 100% of sRGB with factory-calibrated ΔE<2 accuracy.

The Q9 also focuses on eye comfort. It holds TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light and flicker-free operation. On the connectivity side, the monitor includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, one USB-C with 90W reverse charging, two USB-A ports, a USB-B uplink, and a headphone jack.

It supports Display Stream Compression (DSC) for efficient transmission and includes KVM functionality for controlling two PCs with one keyboard and mouse.

Thunderbird has added dual 3W speakers and its “Dancing Light” RGB lighting system on the back panel. The ergonomic stand supports tilt, swivel, height adjustment, and rotation. The monitor also supports VESA wall mounting and includes a hidden headphone hook.

The package ships with HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, and USB-B to USB-A cables. The Q9 weighs 10.3kg with the stand and measures 806.6mm in width and 360mm in height without it.
