According to a Bloomberg report, the Cupertino based giant’s Taiwabnese supplier Wistron Corp and Tata Group are in talks to create a joint venture that will them produce iPhones. In other words, Tata could be the first Indian company to make iPhones within the region. For those unaware, the Indian conglomerate is known for a number of business, which extends from salt to steel to even software as well. Now, it appears its diversifying its operations to another industry.

The sources close to the matter in the report further added that “The aim is to make Tata a force in technology manufacturing, and the Indian salt to software conglomerate wants to tap the Taiwanese company’s expertise in product development, supply chain and assembly.” Unfortunately, the joint venture’s deal structure and other finer details like shareholdings is still known at the moment. It is also possible that Tata was brought on board to also build a new assembly facility in India. Apple has been making iPhones in the region since 2017, so it wouldn’t be surprising if it plans on expanding the scale of production as it has already been attempting to diversify its supply chain to regions outside of China.

Apple cuts orders for M2 Pro & M2 Max chips for 2022 MacBook Pros due to falling demand

Apple has apparently overestimated the demand for its M2 Pro and M2 Max series of chipsets for its 2022 MacBook Pro laptops and is now slashing orders for the new processors. The orders have been cut down by around 30 percent.

Apple

The news arrives from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who stated that the Cupertino based giant has misjudged the demand for its 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models for this year. The analyst added that the brand has sent notes to its suppliers that to cut orders up to 30 percent. This is a sizeable fall in production orders even before the release of the 2022 MacBook Pros. Kuo added that the iPhone maker is seeing a fall in demand following the boost in demand caused by work from home.

In a note to clients Kuo said that “Apple cuts shipment forecasts for new 14″ & 16″ MacBook Pro by 20 to 30% before mass production, and it’s a structural risk to the high end ABF & Mini LED sectors. The only major upgrade for the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros is the new processor, and limited new selling points may also be the reason for the lower than expected demand.”

Apple 13-inch MacBook Pro 2022

In simpler terms, it appears that the actual demand for the MacBook has been lower than expected recently, and it is not just limited to the higher end MacBook Pro models. As of right now, the company is expected to announced the 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro 2022 models sometime next month in October. Although, the exact release date is still unknown at the moment.

Steve Job’s daughter takes a jab at Apple, calls iPhone 14 identical to iPhone 13

Apple has just recently announced its highly anticipated iPhone 14 series. But soon after the Far Out event earlier this week, Eve Jobs, the daughter of Steve Jobs took to social media to call out the brand for basically launching the iPhone 13 again with just a different number.

Apple

The daughter of the founder of the Cupertino based giant shared a meme on her Instagram handle. Here, the meme carried the caption “Me upgrading from iPhone 13 to iPhone 14 after Apple’s announcement today,” and also included an image in which a man can be seen opening presents and finding the same exact shirt as the one he’s already wearing. In other words, Eve Jobs took a jab at Apple and called out the iPhone 14 for basically being a new iPhone 13 model.

This isn’t new for the iPhone maker, since it always faces a high number of trolls on social media and other platforms after its annual smartphone launches. With the brand using the same iconic design for the iPhone for the past couple of years, the new iPhone launches every year practically look identical to one another. Meanwhile, the sole difference is typically related to the internal specifications.

iphone-14-pro

However, this situation is further made worse for Apple considering it launched the base iPhone 14 model with the same A15 Bionic chipset that is found in the last year’s iPhone 13. Although, the company claims that the new model offers enhanced performance and improve power efficiency. But it seems like to many, it still feels like the same smartphone being relaunched.

The devices are yet to reach the customers. However, someone has already managed to install and run Geekbench on a Pro model. So let’s take a look at the performance.

It is unclear if it is the Pro or the Pro Max model; however, the benchmark in itself isn’t that impressive. The new chip scores 1879 points on the single-core test and 4664 points on the multi-core test. For comparison, the A15-equipped iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max models usually manage scores of around 1730 points on the single-core tests and 4700 points on the multi-core tests.

If this is indeed the Geekbench score of an A16-equipped iPhone, it might answer the question of why Apple chose to compare the chipset to the older A13 Bionic rather than the A15 Bionic chipset of last year. The company might have opted to go with more efficiency rather than performance this time around, as it has claimed that the chips consume 20% less power than before.
