This is exactly the reason why we decided that the Honor Magic4 Ultimate deserves comparison with the best Android phones out there. And that is why we chose the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the OPPO Find X5 Pro for this specs comparison.

Design

If you are looking for the most impressive design, then you should go for the OPPO Find X5 Pro. Its impressive curves and its ceramic body allowed OPPO to win an iF Design Award for the product design, and we can assume the Find X5 Pro is the most beautiful Android device of 2022. The Honor Magic4 Ultimate has a ceramic body as well, but the OPPO flagship is more elegant thanks to its curves and the absence of that huge camera module found on the Honor flagship. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is beautiful as well with its Galaxy Note-like design, but it is made of glass and aluminum just like most of the flagships out there.

Display

It is very hard to understand which of these phones has the best display because their specifications on the paper are exactly at the same level. According to the most important benchmarks, the OPPO Find X5 Pro has a slightly better panel in terms of color accuracy and more. But you should not underestimate the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, especially because it supports the S Pen for handwriting and drawing.

Specs & Software

Given that all of these phones come with flagship-class hardware departments and top-notch performance, you should not focus too much on their hardware departments. They are all powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform with the exception of certain regional variants of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra sporting an inferior Exynos 2200 chipset. The RAM goes up to 12 GB in each case, but the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is the only one to reach 1 TB of internal storage. All of these phones run Android 12 out of the box, with a highly customized user interface on top.

Camera

The most advanced camera phone here is the Honor Magic4 Ultra. It sports a 50 MP main camera with laser autofocus, an outstanding 64 MP periscope camera with 3.5x optical zoom, a 64 MP ultrawide sensor, an additional 50 MP wide sensor, and a TOF 3D camera for depth calculation. In 2022, until now, there is not any manufacturer which released a phone with a better camera setup than Honor Magic4 Ultimate. But you should not underestimate the OPPO Find X5 Pro due to its MariSilicon X proprietary ISP providing incredibly high quality in night shots.

Battery

The weakest point of the Honor Magic4 Ultimate is the battery because it is way smaller than the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the OPPO Find X5 Pro. On the other hand, it has a faster 100W charging technology.

Price

The Honor Magic4 Ultimate begins at €1150/$1247 in China and it is still not available in Europe, you need €1300/$1410 for the Find X5 Pro, and more than €1000/$1000 for the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Which one would you pick?

Global Refurbished smartphone market shows 15% YoY growth; Apple takes lead

Refurbished phones offer great value since they can be bought for cheap while having only little to no wear and tear. Flagships like Apple and Samsung are mostly considered when going for refurbished phones and that doesn’t seem to change anytime soon. A new report from Counterpoint Research reveals that Apple was the market leader for refurbished phones last year. Additionally, the global refurbished smartphone market in 2021 reportedly saw more growth than the new smartphone market in 2021.

It’s a 15% YoY increase over 2020

The global refurbished smartphone volumes witnessed a year-on-year(YoY) growth of 15% in 2021. This is way higher than the new smartphone shipment volumes of 4.5% YoY last year. As per Counterpoint’s report, this is because new smartphones are launching at higher prices making buyers opt for refurbished models.

The refurbished market is also growing, thanks to the trade-ins that people go for while buying a new device. The trade-ins have also grown more than 10% in 2021 globally.

Latin America and India saw the most growth

If we compare the refurbished smartphone market of 2021 to 2020, we see that the market has grown tremendously in regions like Latin America and India. The Latin American market grew by 29%, while the Indian market grew by 25% in 2021.

Refurbished smartphone market
Global Refurbished smartphone market growth by region

Next comes the US with a 15% increase, followed by Southeast Asia’s 12% increase, China & Europe’s 10% growth, and lastly Africa showed an increase of 4%.

While the refurbished phone market surged, the average selling prices of refurbished devices have also gone up. This is because 4G devices in some of the regions still retain value due to the non-existence of 5G services. If we take India, for example, the region doesn’t have commercial 5G as of yet, which could be a reason for people buying refurbished devices, despite those devices being 4G-only models.

The refurbished market will continue to grow as some of the areas in these regions are yet to explore the refurbished smartphone market.

Netflix considers ad-supported cheaper plans to boost userbase

Last month, Netflix announced that they will soon be imposing extra charges on users who share their passwords with people outside their house. This new feature, along with one other will soon be launched in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru for a test run.

Netflix Logo

Now, talking to investors and analysts, the company’s CEO Reed Hastings has stated that the platform would be open to exploring the potential that advertisement-based viewing plans, that would be cheaper for users to subscribe to, in a bid to get the service to reach more users. The statement comes after Netflix recorded a loss in subscriber base for the first time in over a decade.

Hastings told the analysts that the current market has made the company rethink its strategies and how it wants its users to experience the platform. The CEO made it clear that he doesn’t prefer the “complexity of advertisement” over the “simplicity of subscription,” However, he does realize that Netflix already reaches a high number of households within its target audience, and to grow beyond this, the platform needs to make some changes.

The company is betting on the cheaper ad-supported plan to be this change for them, which will drive their users beyond the current ceiling. The plans, however, are not ready yet, and Hastings states that it will take up to two years for them to materialize. It remains to be seen if the users will be interested in watching ads even after paying a subscription fee to the platform. Another thing that remains to be seen is how intrusive the adverts for Netflix will be. Will users experience ad breaks while watching shows or movies, or will Netflix bake them into the UI too? Will there be a skip button after a certain amount of time?

What do you think of this decision? would you be interested in buying a Netflix subscription that costs less but comes with ads? let us know in the comments below.

iQOO has done quite well with its recent smartphones. The iQOO 7, which arrived in the eye-pleasing BMW edition did cater to the younger audience. The company continued it with the iQOO 8 and 9 series. In India, iQOO has now stepped into the entry-level market with the release of the iQOO Z6 5G series.

In addition to this, a recent piece of news revealed a 4G model of the Z6, which could possibly be even cheaper than the 5G model. With these many devices, iQOO userbase appears to be growing at a good pace. That being said, having a community makes absolute sense.

Huawei Watch GT Runner Review: Best Watch for Runners!

Smartwatches may have very limited features, but when you have a smartwatch that is highly specialized and well optimized in the right features, then that’s a really good deal to consider, isn’t it?

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-1

The smartwatch, which we are going to talk about today belongs to this category, and it is none other than the Huawei watch GT Runner. This latest Huawei smartwatch is not only a normal wearable assistant but also your personal running coach. So we decided to wear it for daily activities, especially for daily running. At this point, we were able to draw the conclusion that the GT Runner is the best smartwatch for people who take running as their primary exercise.

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-5

It is assembled with capable hardware sensors and professional software that can record and process environmental and health data. It can also produce customized scientific and effective training plans, providing you with an easy yet highly professional fitness experience.

Before we get into the specially assembled features, let’s take a look at the design and built. One of the most impressive parts about its built is the weight. It has a comfortable weight of 38.5 grams, which is lighter than any other Huawei Watch in the market.

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-featured

Thanks to the ultra-light silicon strap and good choice of materials, the whole watch is very sturdy and solid and has a very premium, high-end feeling with ceramic ultra-light bezel and aerospace-grade titanium-alloy watch crown. The strap is also very elastic, the experience of wearing the watch around your wrist is delightful. Even after a long time of running, with sweat and weariness, it still can be very comfortable. The upper button has a smooth rotatable crown, which is also very pleasing to use. And with this really fashionable and premium look, the design and built surely are top-notch level.

As for the specs, it comes with a 1.43 inch AMOLED display that supports slide and touch gestures, 4GB RAM, and most importantly 5 ATM water-resistant, which means it can be used under 50 meters of water. That is great news for runners who also enjoy swimming. At the same time, it is also rated IP68, so you don’t have to worry about the dust as well.

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-6

It has a 455 mAh battery with wireless charging, and that is enough for 14 days of typical use without charging. In actual use, it’s good for daily typical scenarios, including a 90-minute workout per week. You can even get a longer battery if you turn off some standby features like continuous heart rate monitoring. But if you’re a self-disciplinarian who works out every single day and uses sensors more frequently, battery life could still last for 6-7 days.

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-4

Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Geomagnetic, Optical heart rate, and Air pressure sensors are the main sensors that enable measuring and collecting environmental and health data. One of the most impressive experiences of using the GT Runner is its accurate positioning and route tracking. Thanks to the insane five major satellite systems integrated into the watch (GPS+Beidou+GLONASS+Galileo+QZSS), it has the most precise positioning and distance counting that I’ve ever seen on a smartwatch. And almost no obvious trajectory drift happened to the watch during running.

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-11

For most runners, one of the biggest headaches is quantifying their running performance, it is a complicated process, but with all these various and powerful sensors and a well-designed HUAWEI TruSport software, you will be provided with the Running Ability Index (RAI) to evaluate your running performance based on your heart rate, pace, distance, frequency, and other multidimensional data. When I wore it and went out for a morning jog, I could not only see my accurate dynamic heart rate and SpO2 but also get other professional data such as fatigue level, training index, and aerobic/anaerobic training pressure. I can use this information to make reasonable adjustments to improve my results.

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-7

And the Huawei Health app is the best smart wearable app that I’ve used on the Android platform. The most valuable point of the software is that it adapts almost all the features to other brands’ phones, bringing almost the same experience on most android devices as using a Huawei phone. In the app, users can develop their own health plans, take exercise courses, or set training goals.

Apart from these features for runners, it’s also as powerful as any other Huawei smartwatch as a daily driver. It runs on HarmonyOS 2.0 and offers sleep and stress monitoring and healthy living reminders like drinking water, deep breathing, early bedtime, and even daily smile through the HUAWEI Health app feature. Because it’s so comfortable to wear, wearing it at night when I am sleeping is also much easier compared to other watches. Therefore, I can now even consider trying out sleep monitoring. It also provides music playback with earphones or speakers and comes with a large amount of storage space which can store up to 500 songs. And of course, getting notifications, and sending messages are all available as other watches.

HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-3

The watch is positioned as the company’s first professional running watch and is priced at €299. This price may not be very exciting, but if you want the above-mentioned professional features, then it can still be a very good bargain to have. At least for me, I think I can have a great time wearing on my wrist, monitoring my fitness and health, in a way that will actually bring some positive impact on my total well-being.

On the other hand, I will also want to spend this money on other options, such as eating healthier stuff or buying a good bike to enjoy more outdoor time. So you can make your purchase decision depending on your preference.

RedMagic announces Gaming Monitor, Gaming Peripherals & WiFi Router

After four of success as a gaming smartphone brand, the Nubia sub-brand RedMagic has just announced its plans to diversify its product range to cater to a broader gaming and e-sports community.

RedMagic Gaming Monitor

On the occasion of the four-year anniversary of RedMagic, Nubia President Ni Fei said that ” the Red Devils will soon enter e-sports monitors, e-sports routers, gaming keyboards and mice and XR and other equipment fields.”

The company also revealed that on April 25, RedMagic, in collaboration with the world’s top IPs will bring players new products with hard-core aesthetics and extreme performance. So it is likely that some of the above-mentioned products could launch on April 25. As for the top IP’s part, it probably has something to do with their recently teased partnership with the Transformers franchise.

If the teaser indeed turns out to be a Transformers partnership, we will likely see some Transformers-themed products soon.

RedMagic Gaming Accessories

For now, the brand has teased images of their upcoming WiFi router, Gaming Monitor, Gaming Mouse, Gaming Keyboard, and XR headsets. The products will likely launch in China first, however, their recent teaser with the tagline “It’s time for the world to know of our presence” leads many to speculate that their new range of products will be made available outside of China as well.

Currently, RedMagic has a presence in regions like Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Latin America. It is highly likely that the new products will be made available in these regions.

In a video shared on YouTube, we can see another Pure EV electric scooter going up in flames. Notably, this marks the fourth electric scooter from the brand to have caught fire in India. Back in September 2021, two e-scooters of the same model were engulfed in flames in Hyderabad, while another model recently caught fire in Chennai in March 2022. Furthermore, there have also been other e-scooter models from other brands like Ola, Okinawa, and more that have suffered from fire related accidents.

The latest incident comes from Warangal in Telangana, where a red Pure EV Pluto burst into flames. It was parked on the side of the road, with the video showing the vehicle being engulfed in smoke and flames. There were also sounds of the fresh lithium ion cells catching fire, which was indicative through the occasional popping sound. It is believed that the chain reaction signified a thermal runaway that has been a major issue behind most fire accidents related to EVs.

Pure EV

This marks the 6th EV fire incident in India now. As of right now, the Road Transport Ministry has directed the Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) to begin an in depth investigation and find out the causes behind this by the end of this month.
