HarmonyOS 2.0 was announced alongside the Huawei Watch 3 series and new MatePad tablets earlier this week. It is Huawei’s own simplified OS that offers a seamless connected experience on different kinds of devices such as smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, fitness, cars, and other IoT and smart home products. Currently, the HarmonyOS is only available for Huawei devices and the above-mentioned Honor devices in China. Forthcoming Huawei phones in China will come preloaded with the new OS.
After about three years of development, US bike-sharing company Lyft is introducing its first in-house electric bike. The Lyft e-bike features a 500-watt electric motor and a single gear drivetrain. With a strong battery, the e-bike can go up to 60 miles on a full charge, providing greater width for persons who want to go on a commute with minimal energy. The presence of an electric motor makes the bike relatively easy to operate and maintain.
The Lyft e-bike was designed such that the power cell and connecting cables were built into the bike’s frame to give a durable and more secure bike. The painting on the frame features a retroreflective design that makes the e-bike reflect light at night, similar to road signs that illuminate at night. There is an LED lighting system at the front of the bike to illuminate the biker at night.
The rear wheel houses a hydraulic solid disc brake to provide braking power to the bike. Lyft has added several sensors that will provide data that will help the company maintain the bikes in top conditions over time. The seat is also designed to accommodate diverse riders of different heights.
Lyft bought Motivate, the Citibike parent company, in 2018, and it has expanded its network of bike sharing across the United States since then. The new Lyft e-bike will join the company’s fleet across the US. A pilot run will commence in Lyft’s Bay Wheels fleet next week. The company has seen a surge in requests for its bikes since the pandemic began. Indeed the coronavirus pandemic was a significant factor that contributed to the seeming explosion of bike-hailing and bike sharing across the world.
With physical distancing as one of the important preventive protocols, many people chose the option of using bike services to move around. Last year alone, Lyft logged about 1.8 million new users, indicating a growing demand for its services. In addition, the requests for e-bikes were up 2x more than the manually operated bikes.
Earlier this week, a landing page of the Honor Band 6 surfaced on India’s Flipkart retailer site. It did not reveal the launch date of the fitness tracker but confirmed many of its major features. A product listing of the Honor Band 6 is now available on the retailer. While it is not yet available for purchase as it is listed as “out of stock,” the listing has revealed its pricing.
The Honor Band 6 is listed with a price tag of Rs 5,999 on Flipkart. Since the device is yet to be announced in India, the pricing may not be true. In China, the company is selling the non-NFC version of the Band 6 with a price tag of 249 Yuan (~$2,840), whereas it is available for 49.9 euros (~Rs 4,420) in global markets.

Honor is all set to announce the Honor 50 series of smartphones in China on June 16. Reports have revealed that the series will offer three devices such as the Honor 50 SE, Honor 50, and Honor 50 Pro. GSMArenahas shared high-resolution renders of the Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro to showcase the rear appearance of both smartphones.

Both phones have two cameras in the second ring. Unfortunately, there is no word on their configurations. In the previous month, live images of an alleged Honor 50 series phone had appeared online. It featured the main camera in the first ring and its second ring had a periscope zoom lens along with another camera. There is a possibility that those images could be fake, or they may belong to the Honor 50 Pro+ handset.
The publication claims that the Honor 50 lineup will focus on vlogging. Hence, it is expected to offer top-notch videography features. As far as specs are concerned, the rumor mill is yet to share any information about the Honor 50 series.
Probably, the Honor 50 will debut as the world’s first phone powered by the Snapdragon 778G mobile platform. Recently, two Honor phones with model numbers NTH-AN00, JLH-AN00, and RNA-AN00/RNA-TN00 were recently seen at the 3C certification site of China. The RNA model was seen with a 100W charger, whereas the other two models were spotted with a 66W charger. These handsets may belong to the Honor 50 series.

Despite it is the only one with a fat display, the OPPO Reno6 is a very interesting phone in terms of form factor. The Snapdragon 870 is actually better than Dimensity 1200, so Reno6 Pro+ wins the hardware comparisons. The phones are based on Android 11 and customized by the new ColorOS 11.3.
Camera
OPPO Reno6 and Reno6 Pro are midrange-class camera phones. They both feature a 64 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide camera, but the Reno6 Pro+ has a pair of 2 MP sensors, while the vanilla Reno6 has just a single 2 MP. The difference is just marginal between these phones, but it becomes huge with the OPPO Reno6 Pro+. This device is a top-camera phone with its 50 MP main camera equipped with OIS, a 13 MP telephoto sensor with optical zoom, a 16 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro lens.
Battery
The OPPO Reno6 has a smaller 4300 mAh battery, while the Reno6 Pro and the Reno6 Pro+ both come with a 4500 mAh unit which can provide a longer battery life. Note that the Reno6 Pro has a chipset built with a better 6 nm production process, which can allow a lower energy consumption. The phones all feature 65W fast charging and they all lack wireless charging.
Price
The OPPO Reno6 series is only available in China for now. The vanilla Reno6 has a €360 starting price in the country, the Reno6 Pro costs €450 in its base variant, and the Reno6 Pro+ starts from €520. The OPPO Reno6 brings a fresh and original design to the market, but it is a mid-range phone and it cannot compete with the other two variants if we exclude the price. It comes with an inferior chipset, display, cameras, and battery. Between OPPO Reno6 Pro and Reno6 Pro+, there are fewer differences: the camera department is the only significant one, given that the Reno6 Pro is a mid-range camera phone and the Reno6 Pro+ has flagship cameras.

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy A22 5G alongside the Galaxy A22 4G. The models have featured in several leaks which gave us an idea of the expected specifications as well as the renders.
The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G has a 6.6-inch IPS LCD Infinity-V display with support for a 90Hz display refresh rate. On the other hand, the Galaxy A22 packs a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with HD+ resolution. The display also supports a 90Hz refresh rate.
The A22 5G has an 8MP front-facing camera couched within the screen notch and a triple rear camera module. It also has a 48MP wide-angle primary camera, a 5 MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The Galaxy A22 5G can record 4K videos with its primary camera but it doesn’t come with OIS.
On the other hand, the Galaxy A22 sports a 13MP selfie camera while at the rear aspect, there is a Quad camera setup marshaled by a 48MP primary camera with OIS and autofocus. There is also an 8MP ultrawide sensor, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor with an F2.4 aperture.
The phone also packs a side-mounted camera embedded under the power button. The A22 5G/4G will be available in four attractive colors: white, mint, grey, and violet.
In terms of the processor, the Galaxy A22 5G is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC with a clocking frequency of 2.2GHz. The processor is paired with 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM while the storage options will vary from 64GB to 128GB. On its part, the A22 4G is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor. The memory setup is similar to the 5G version but the vanilla A22 misses out on the 8GB RAM version.
Both models also pack a microSD card slot for expansion of the storage space up to 1TB. In terms of the interface, the A22 5G/4G boot Android 11 out of the box with an overlay of Samsung’s custom One UI 3.1.
The phones also arrive with support for Samsung Pay, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Keeping the lights on is a massive 5,000mAh battery that is compatible with 15W fast charging on both models.
The Samsung Galaxy A22 4G is priced at 230 Euro (about $278). The pricing details of the Galaxy A22 5G are not available at this time but an earlier source hinted that the A22 5G could be priced at around $305, justifying its affordability. We expected the Korean tech giant to release the pricing and availability details in the coming days.

A month after it accidentally announced the Pixel Buds A on Twitter, Google has finally unveiled its new TWS earbuds. The new earbuds bring the Pixel Buds experience for about half the price just the way the Pixel A phone line offers the Pixel phone experience at a more affordable price tag.
Priced at $99, almost half the $199 price tag of the regular Pixel Buds, the Pixel Buds A largely resembles its more expensive sibling, save for the colors. It is available in two colors – Clearly White and Dark Olive – with a glossy finish.
The earbuds are said to be comfortable and designed to stay in even when you work out. They have a flush-to-ear design and a stabilizer arc to keep them in place. Garmin has officially launched two new smartwatches under its Forerunner series. The models are the Garmin Forerunner 55 and the Forerunner 945 LTE. The Forerunner 55 is an entry-level smartwatch equipped with the features that you’ll find on a regular smartwatch. On the other hand, the Forerunner 945 LTE is designed for fitness enthusiasts.
The Garmin Forerunner 945 LTE, as the name implies, comes with LTE support which means you don’t need a companion smartphone to connect to the internet. However, you will need a subscription plan to be able to access the internet. The watch also comes with a feature known as LiveTrack and it lets users share the real-time location and route of their run or ride with family and friends as well as your pace and mileage. The feature also allows the user receive SMS messages as well as audio messages.
Most importantly, the Forerunner 945 LTE is capable of instantly sending messages to the user’s emergency contacts if an incident is detected as it has incident detection and assistance features. There is an Assistance plus option that can automatically share the name and location of the wearer with a dedicated 24/7 monitoring and response team which can then contact emergency services.
The smartwatch also provides detailed training data as well as performance monitoring and activity tracking. You also get the usual features found on Garmin smartwatches such as Garmin Pay, music storage, and notifications from a connected phone.

The entry-level Forerunner 55 is the successor to the Forerunner 45 and offers some improvements in the battery life compared to its predecessor. Garmin claims the battery can last up to two weeks on a single charge when used in smartwatch mode. The battery life is reduced to a decent 20 hours in GPS, up from 13 hours on the 45.
The Forerunner 55 arrives with several features aimed at enhancing the health of the user. These include sedentary reminders, respiration rate monitoring, hydration tracking, and menstrual and pregnancy tracking. The smartwatch also comes with time, distance, speed, and pace tracking for runners as well as heart rate monitoring.
The watch also offers several safety features such as the ability to share a message containing your location to selected contacts. Users will also get access to daily suggested workouts and Garmin Coach.
The Forerunner 55 carries a $200 price tag and is presently available in black, white, and aqua colors.
The Redmi Note 10 Pro sold in China is very different from that sold in other countries. Not only is the design different but so are the specs. Now, those who want to get their hands on this version of the Redmi Note 10 Pro will be able to do so but under a different name – the POCO X3 GT.
Last week, Kacper Skryzpek, a Twitter user and unofficial MIUI translator posted a tweet that said a new POCO phone called the POCO X3 GT will be coming soon. Today, he shared another tweet that reveals the POCO X3 GT is actually a rebadge of the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 10 Pro.
The new tweet includes an image that shows that the POCO X3 GT is code-named “chopin_global” while the Redmi Note 10 Pro for China is code-named” “chopin”, thus confirming that the former is a global version of the latter.
There is no news yet as to when the POCO X3 GT will be announced. There is also a possibility that POCO may decide to slightly alter the design as it has done with the POCO M3 Pro 5G when it eventually announces it.
Now that we know the two devices are the same, then the POCO X3 GT should have a 6.6-inch FHD+ 120Hz LCD display with a punch hole in the middle. It will be powered by the Dimensity 1100 chipset and have a 64MP triple rear camera, a 16MP front-facing camera, and a 5000mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging.

In order to install the Mi Home app on the above-mentioned Xiaomi Mi TVs, users will have to navigate to the User Centre section by selecting its icon located in the top row of the PatchWall launcher and scroll all the way down. Once installed and signed in, users will be able to manage their Xiaomi smart home products on their television.

Realme’s strategy seems to be a different approach to what we have seen from other manufacturers that launch Pro, Pro+, and Ultra models of their flagship phones. These other variants, most especially the Pro+/Ultra models usually have the best cameras and are priced higher than their siblings.
The Realme GT 5G Performance Flagship has a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 and has up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
For cameras, it has a 64MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup on the back and a 16MP sensor in front. The phone packs a 4500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging via a USB-C port. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and an audio jack.
Realme announced last month that it will release a global version of its Android 12 Beta 1 update for the device when it launches for the global markets.
The Indian TWS earphones market has recorded a whopping 156 percent year on year growth in the first quarter of this year, with boAt leading the market. Although, the resurgence of the Coronavirus pandemic is expected to impact the market’s performance for the second quarter.
According to a Counterpoint Research report, “Enhancement in features like sound quality, low latency for better gaming experience, smart touch control for a hassle-free experience, and waterproof and dustproof ratings have helped advance the growth of TWS market in India. Also, the constant trends of multiple new launches and low pricing strategy have accelerated the growth further,” as per Research Analyst Shilpi Jain.
During this period, boAt dominated the Indian TWS market for the third consecutive quarter in Q1 2021. The company recorded a massive growth of 576 percent year on year. In the first quarter, the brand managed to have three of its products rank in the region’s top 5 models. These top 5 models accounted for about half of all shipments in the region, with boAt alone being responsible for 15 percent of all shipments. The brand’s overall market share was around 28 percent, with OnePlus being second on the list with a market share of 13 percent.
Research Analyst Shilpi Jain further added that “Key brands OnePlus and realme got a push by offering discounts on their official websites. Brands like Jabra, Sony, and Apple also offered discounts on Amazon to strengthen demand. After the PLI scheme extension to the wearable and hearable category, brands are planning to scale up their ‘Make in India’ capabilities to leverage the scheme. After pTron, we might see a ‘Made in India’ TWS from boAt in the immediate quarter.“
Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S Pen in the first half of 2019. The budget tablet from the South Korean tech giant debuted with One UI based on Android 9.0 Pie. It was updated to Android 10 (One UI 2.x) last year. Now, it has started receiving its second major update in the form of Android 11-based One UI Core 3.1.
Samsung has been rolling out Android 11 stable update to its eligible devices since December 2020. The company has managed to provide the said update for almost all the supported devices. Only a few budget smartphones and tablets are yet to receive it.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S Pen (aka Galaxy Tab A Plus 8) is one such affordable tablet from 2019. The South Korean tech giant has just started seeding One UI 3.1 Core (Android 11) update for this device.
As per SamMobile, the latest system update for this tablet is currently live in Chile and the Philippines. It arrives with firmware version P205DXU5CUE3 and is being rolled out in batches.
The update should reach other regional variants of this tablet in the coming days. Users can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check whether their unit has received the One UI Core 3.1 update.
Android 11 is the last major update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S Pen. However, the tablet is eligible for at least four years of security updates. Hence, its software support should last until 2023.

The official RedMagic Twitter account has announced today that the RedMagic 6R will get a global release soon. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait for the launch date as the official website has revealed that the phone will be unveiled on June 19.

The promo page also shows that the device will be available in two color variants – Blue and White.
The RedMagic 6R is a Snapdragon 888 powered gaming smartphone with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that has a centered punch hole and a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone comes in multiple configurations, packing up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
For cameras, there is a 16MP in front for selfies and video calls while the rear packs a 64MP quad-camera setup that also includes an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
This is a gaming phone, so it is no surprise that it has shoulder buttons on the right side of the frame. Other features are stereo speakers, DTS:X Ultra, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 4200mAh battery with support for 55W fast wired charging. The device runs RedMagic OS 4.0 based on Android 11.
The RedMagic 6 and RedMagic 6 Pro are priced at $599 and $699 respectively, so our guess is that the RedMagic 6R will have a launch price of $499, and that may be for the 8GB RAM + 128GB version which sells for about $470 in China.
At the end of March this year, Chinese technology giant Xiaomi unveiled its new visual identity that includes a redesigned logo and new typography. Now, the company has started replacing the old logo with the new one at Mi Home Stores.
The development was confirmed by Lu Weibing, Partner at Xiaomi Group, President of Xiaomi China, and General Manager of the Redmi brand. The new logo was revealed by Lei Jun, Founder and CEO of Xiaomi, on 30th March during Spring New Product Launch event.
The new logo of Xiaomi has been designed by Kenya Hara, a professor of Musashino Art University and the President of the Nippon Design Center (NDC).
For this new logo, Xiaomi has gone with rounded corners much like what you have seen on some icon packs. So you have a squircle in place of the old logo which is a square. Xiaomi says the designer used the “superellipse” mathematical formula for the design and had to adjust the variables to get a visually optimal dynamic balance and a perfect balance between a square and a circle.
Xiaomi says that it will continue to use orange as its corporate color and thus the color of the logo remains unchanged. However, it will use Black and Silver variants of the logo as supplemental colors for high-end products.
A couple of months ago, in April, when Xiaomi launched its 5000th Mi Home Store in China in the city of Shenyang which was also the first to use the new Xiaomi branding.
