PepsiCo to take delivery of 15 Tesla Semi electric trucks later this year

Soft drinks giant PepsiCo has kick-started a program that will see it gradually transiting from diesel-powered trucks to semi-electric trucks produced by Tesla. The collaboration between PepsiCo and Tesla, the global leader in electric vehicle production, will yield 15 semi-electric trucks by the end of this year, according to the company.Tesla Semi Electric Truck

The delivery of the semi-electric trucks to PepsiCo will mark an important milestone for both PepsiCo and Tesla. The electric vehicle maker had grappled with several challenges in producing the semi-electric truck with a couple of missed production targets. Since the first semi-electric vehicle prototype was released in 2017 by Tesla, it has continued to make progress in the development. It is expected that production will begin this year and PepsiCo will be among the first set of customers to take delivery of the trucks.

There are no indications yet from Tesla about the number of semi-electric trucks to be produced this year. We can be sure that PepsiCo’s inclusion as one of its major clients in the program may mean that there may be plans to scale up the production to meet the expected demand from the soft drinks giant.Tesla Semi electric trucks PepsiCo

PepsiCo had made an initial order of 100 trucks in 2017. This number could go up significantly if the goal is to have a reduced emission profile for the company. PepsiCo planned to use the trucks to turn one of its production facilities in California into a zero-emission facility. PepsiCo today revealed that the California plant is deploying a rich mix of renewable energy options that are inching it towards net-zero emissions.

Although the full specs of the semi-electric truck models are not yet out, we know that it will be a class 8 truck capable of carrying loads up to 36 tons, with the range it can go on a full charge between 300 and 500 miles, while it costs between $150,000 and $180,000.

OPPO finally released the Find X3 series in Europe in three variants: OPPO Find X3 Pro, Find X3 Neo, and Find X3 Lite. While the first twos are high-end smartphones, the third is a mid-ranger. The Neo and Lite variants are rebrands of the devices respectively known as the Reno5 Pro+ 5G and Reno5 5G in the Chinese market, while the Pro version is an entirely new flagship. Do you want to know the differences between the specifications of these devices and which one is the best for you? Go ahead with this comparison.

Design

The best and most impressive design belongs to the OPPO Find X3 Pro, which even won the Red Dot Design Award 2021. Its rear glass is made with a very complex heating process lasting 40 hours and involving temperatures up to 700 °C, in order to achieve perfect curves and the Gradient Arc design for the camera module. The Find X3 Pro is also the only waterproof phone of the trio, with the IP68 certification. On the other hand, the OPPO Find X3 Lite is the thinnest and lightest phone of the trio and, unlike its two internal rivals, it features a flat display. The OPPO Find X3 Neo still comes with an amazing design: thin, lightweight, and original.

Display

The OPPO Find X3 Pro has the best display of the trio and one of the best smartphone displays in the whole market. It shows up to one billion colors thanks to a true 10-bit color depth, it has a Quad HD+ resolution, an adaptive refresh rate with up to 120 Hz (thanks to the LTPO technology), and more. The OPPO Find X3 Neo does not come with a 10-bit color depth and it has a lower Full HD+ resolution, but it retains the HDR10+ certification, it has a high 1100 nit peak brightness and a 90 Hz refresh rate. With the OPPO Find X3 Lite you get a 90 Hz AMOLED display too, but it lacks HDR10+ and the brightness is lower compared to the Find X3 Neo.

Hardware/Software

OPPO Find X3 Pro and Neo are two flagships powered by the Snapdragon 888 and the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, respectively. The OPPO Find X3 Lite is instead a mid-ranger with the Snapdragon 765G, the same as the predecessor Find X3 Lite. However, I tried the Find X3 Lite and for normal users (daily usage), it is hard to distinguish the performance difference, unless you play advanced games. All the phones run Android 11 with ColorOS 11.1 on top.

Camera

OPPO Find X3 Pro is the most innovative phone and the most advanced one in terms of cameras. It boasts a dual 50 MP main camera paired with a 13 MP telephoto sensor and a 3 MP macro camera with 60x magnification which works like a microscope. Right after, we got the OPPO Find X3 Neo, still, a high-end camera phone with a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main camera, but the secondary sensors are inferior: you get a telephoto sensor, a 16 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. The OPPO Find X3 Lite is a midrange camera phone with a 64 MP main camera: it lacks OIS and telephoto.

Battery

OPPO Find X3 Pro and Neo have the same 4500 mAh battery and they provide a similar battery life, while The Find X3 Lite has a smaller 4300 mAh unit. With the OPPO Find X3 Pro, you get 65W fast charging and wireless charging, while Find X3 Neo and Lite only feature 65W wired charging.

OPPO Find X3 Pro vs OPPO Find X3 Neo: Price

OPPO Find X3 Pro is priced at €1150 globally, Find X3 Neo costs €799, and Find X3 Lite has a €499 starting price (prices vary depending on the market). At the end of the day, they belong to three different segments: with the Find X3 Neo, you can be satisfied even if you are an above-average user, thanks to astonishing cameras and flagship hardware. But if you want one of the best flagships of 2021 with the best camera, display, hardware, and additional features, Find X3 Pro is your choice. The OPPO Find X3 Lite is an overpriced mid-ranger, but it offers some interesting advantages such as a very sleek design and provides a great overall experience to everyone. The vanilla Find X3 is currently unavailable in the global market.

POCO F3 teardown video reveals LiquidCool Technology, X-axis linear motor, & more

POCO Global launched the POCO F3 flagship smartphone a few days ago. The device has an aggressive starting price tag of €299. This device is a rebranded version of the Redmi K40 from China. Today, POCO has shared an official teardown video of the device revealing its internals like LiquidCool technology, vibration motor, and more.

POCO F3 Teardown, Credit: POCO Global

The video begins with the removal of the POCO F3 rear panel revealing the inside of the device. Interestingly, the secondary mic, LED flashlight and 360-degree ambient light(rear) sensors are attached to a covering of the top inside portion.

Removing the cover reveals the chipset inside. Speaking of which, the chipset contains Snapdragon 870, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1, and Wi-Fi 6 modems on it. A graphite cover is hiding the copper covering of the processor which has the triple-cameras to the left. On the top, we also see the IR blaster.

The triple-cameras are placed separately beside and not as a single unit. To recall, the POCO F3 has a 48MP Sony IMX582 f/1.79 main camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera with a 119° FOV, and a 5MP f/2.4 telemacro camera.

Similar to the rear sensors, the front selfie shooter also seems to be fixed firmly to the frame of the phone. Moving to the top and bottom before the battery, we see another ambient light sensor, Dual-speakers, USB-C port, and the X-axis linear vibration motor.

The battery is also fixed to the frame firmly by glue. Removing it reveals that the typical capacity is 4,520mAh battery and is made by Zhuhai CosMX Battery Co., Ltd. After this, the LiquidCool 1.0 Plus technology is exposed. A copper pipe runs between the battery, components, and the display to keep the device cool.

Finally, the Samsung E4 AMOLED display, side-mounted fingerprint is removed from the device and in case you don’t know, the POCO F3 doesn’t have an in-display fingerprint sensor despite sporting an AMOLED display.

POCO M3 sales crosses half a million units in India

Last year, POCO India brought many budget devices to India, sold them well, and continued it with the POCO M3 recently. After sharing the device’s initial sales data, the company is back with more details.

Poco M3 review 01

In a tweet, POCO India has confirmed that the POCO M3 has sold over 500,000 units in India. The company also said that the device achieved this in just 45 days from the first sale. Earlier, the first sale had clocked around 150,000+ units which is a substantial number considering the device is limited exclusively to Flipkart.

POCO India became the third-largest online smartphone brand in the country towards the end of last year. Thanks to devices like the POCO C3, POCO M2, POCO X3, the company has managed to outsell the expectations every time.

Going forward, with the resurrection of the flagship killer in the form of POCO X3 Pro, it can very well break all the previous sale records in the near future. The company has a new ‘Made of Mad’ mascot to take on the rivals and is probably looking to expand its portfolio further.

POCO M3 is a budget smartphone retailing at a starting price of ₹10,999 in the country. Before launching in India, the device appeared first in global markets with a launch price of $129.

For the price, the device offers a refreshing design with a leather-like finish on the back, 6.53-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 662 chipset, 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging, triple-cameras with 48MP f/1.79 main lens, and more.

Skullcandy Indy ANC TWS launched in India with up to 32-hour battery life and built-in Tile

Skullcandy is a popular American audio brand. Back in November, the company launched two new products in India, namely Spoke (TWS) and Crusher Evo (Over-ear Headphones). Now, four months later, the brand has launched its first-ever truly wireless earphones called Indy ANC in the country.

The newly released Skullcandy Indy ANC TWS is priced at ₹10,999 ($152) in India. It is currently up for pre-order on the brand’s official website. As per the listing, the earphones will start shipping from April 4. Lastly, like most Skullcandy products, the latest one should be also available from multiple retailers in the coming days.

The Skullcandy Indy ANC truly wireless earphones feature a similar design as the original with some minor differences. The buds sport 12mm drivers and connect with devices via Bluetooth 5.0.

As the name suggests, the main highlight of these earbuds is ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).  Also, like most ANC-enabled earphones, these also support ‘Ambient Mode’ (transparency). Both of these modes can be enabled and disable using touch gestures, in addition to media controls.

Further, these buds are also compatible with the Skullcandy app. This application lets user create their ‘Personal Sound Profile’. The app optimizes sound for the wearers using Audiodo™ technology.

Additionally, like the Crusher Evo, the Indy ANC also comes with built-in Tile. Hence, users can easily locate the buds if they misplace them. But sadly, the product is only sold in Black color in India and it weighs 76g.

Lastly, users can get up to 9 hours of music playback on a single charge with ANC turned off. With the charging case that charges via USB Type-C and Qi wireless charging, this number increases to 32 hours. On the other hand, with ANC enabled, these figures drop to 5 hours and 19 hours respectively.

Huawei patents long range wireless charging technology

Huawei has just filed a patent for a new technology. This patent is for a new “wireless charging system,” which is capable of ranged transmission. In other words, it describes a system that is capable of raising the distance for the wireless charging technology.

Huawei

According to an ITHome report, the patent with a publication number CN112564295A describes a wireless charging technology, which is capable of transmission while having a distance between transmitting electrode and the one receiving electrode. To put it simply, its ranged form of wireless charging technology. Looking at the patent description, it states that current wireless charging technology requires two coils to be placed directly opposite to each other, with the distance between the two being very close to transmit power.

This greatly limits the application of the wireless charging technology. Thus, the patent from the Chinese tech giant states that it could work with a variety of materials like iron, aluminum, copper, other alloys, metal pipes, and various other items. Furthermore, it also adds that the technology can also use humans, animals, soil, earth, sea water and other non metallic dielectric objects to as well, as long as its conductivity is greater than that of air to pass a charge through them.

Huawei

The patent from Huawei seeks to raise the applications of wireless charging technology as a whole. By increasing the effective range of charging, this technology could be a boon for various other products apart from smartphones as well, including smartwatches and smart bands. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if the company is actually working on such a product or is simply covering all bases.
