Huawei P40 Pro, the company’s one of the three flagship smartphones for the first half of 2020 underwent JerrryRigEverthing durability test recently. Like any other modern phone, it passed the test with ease.
The P40 Pro is made of glass and aluminium like most premium handsets. The glass used on this device is unknown, however, it scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7 of Mohs’ hardness.
But during the burn test, the BOE OLED display used in this handset was damaged leaving a permanent mark. LCDs and most Samsung AMOLED displays do not get affected. This could one of the reasons why the South Korean tech giant ditched BOE panels for Galaxy S21.
Do note that this is just an assumption and it is not sure why the BOE display panels failed for both Samsung and Apple. In the former’s case, the panels did not even pass the first stage of testing.
As for bend test, the Huawei P40 Pro also passes it without any hiccup thought it has antenna lines in the middle of its frame. Overall, the phone performs well in Zack Nelson’s JerryRigEverything durability test.

Despite the presence of a huge camera module on the back, the design of the OPPO A52 is the one that attracts me the most. The reason is simple: it is the only one sporting a punch-hole display: a more modern solution to get rid of display bezels. Realme Narzo 10 and Redmi 9 are classic devices with a waterdrop notch and a polycarbonate body, nothing so special. But Realme Narzo 10 is splash resistant, while OPPO A52 and Redmi 9 do not offer protection against water nor dust.
Display
The weakest point of the Realme Narzo 10 compared to Redmi 9 and OPPO A52 is the display: it comes with a lower HD+ resolution that you can usually find on entry-level phones. OPPO A52 has the most convincing display: an LTPS panel with a Full HD+ resolution and a cut out for a single front camera. But Redmi 9 is still a pretty nice one with its IPS Full HD+ display and a wide 6.53-inch diagonal. Just note that they are average panels and they are far from high-end devices.
Specs & Software
Realme Narzo 10 and Redmi 9 are powered by the Helio G80 midrange chipset, while OPPO A52 sports the octa-core Snapdragon 665. While the Snapdragon 665 is a more efficient SoC, Helio G80 should provide slightly better performances. However, given that OPPO A52 comes with up to 8 GB of RAM, it has better overall performances than Redmi 9 and Realme Narzo 10, at least in its higher-end version. OPPO A52 also comes with a faster UFS 2.1 native storage, while Realme Narzo 10 and Redmi 9 have eMMC storages. With OPPO A52 and Realme Narzo 10 you get similar UIs based on Android 10: ColorOS 7.1 and Realme UI. Redmi 9 runs MIUI 12 out of the box.
Camera
OPPO A52 and Realme Narzo 10 sport more impressive cameras than Redmi 9. On the paper, Realme Narzo 10 looks better when it comes to photos, while OPPO A52 should record better videos; it is the only with the support to 4K video recording. But given that we did not try all of these phones, we still can not give you a definitive verdict about their camera quality.
Battery
OPPO A52 and Realme Narzo 10 are equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, while Redmi 9 has a 5020 mAh unit. The capacity is almost the same, but Realme Narzo 10 is actually able to last more on a single charge in all of the scenarios in which the display is involved since it has a lower resolution. It is also the only one that supports reverse charging.
Price
OPPO A52 is priced under Rs. 20,000 ($263) in India, Redmi 9 starts from $139, and Realme Narzo 10 is priced Rs. 11,999 ($158). Due to its great display, stereo speakers, and pretty nice cameras, OPPO A52 is my favorite device from this comparison, but it costs more. If you need something cheaper, Realme Narzo 10 looks more convincing than Redmi 9.
Hisense held a product launch event today where it officially unveiled the Hisense ULED U7 TV. The new smart TV supports 120Hz refresh rate, 100-level full array dynamic backlighting, AI+MEMC motion compensation technology and more.
The Hisense U7 boasts of a 130% BT.709 high color gamut, and △E can be within 1.14. Hisense U7 has a 100-level full-array dynamic backlight and is equipped with an AI light control chip. With AI, the display maintains the highest brightness. The maximum contrast can reach 8900 to 1. The Hisense U7 also supports 120Hz screen refresh rate and incorporates VRR variable refresh rate technology, which can ensure the stability of the screen when displaying frames with large frame rate changes.
Hisense U7 supports MEMC dynamic compensation technology. The company claims that the AI+MEMC algorithm can be used to directionally and accurately compensate for moving objects, while protecting fixed scenes, improving fluency and reducing screen loss.
In terms of the hardware, Hisense U7 ULED TV is equipped with a Quad-core Cortex-A73 top-architecture CPU paired with 3G RAM and there is 128G storage onboard. The smart Tv also comes with an independent NPU can provide up to 1TB of computing power. Google officially released Android 11 Beta 1 for Pixels a couple of days back. As expected, some of the partner OEMs also announced their involvement in the program. Oppo was the first company to reveal, followed by OnePlus, Xiaomi, Poco, and Realme. Now, Vivo and iQOO have also declared their association in the beta program with their Nex 3S and iQOO 3 handsets.
Google began to involve partner OEMs in the Android Beta program from Android Pie. Most of the companies released AOSP build for its users. But from last year, almost all of them delivered builds with their own skin like MIUI, OxygenOS, etc. The trend continues this year as well.
Hence, the Android 11 Beta 1 for Vivo Nex 3S and iQOO 3 is available as FuntouchOS and iQOO UI. Also, the update is available for both 4G and 5G variants of iQOO 3 that are sold in India.
Vivo says it will be releasing the second build in late July, which will be soon followed by stable release once Google officially launches Android 11 in August.

But now, this move may create a bigger gap between the US and Chinese supply chains.
According to an executive of a California-based semiconductor company, “securing new clients in China, or even in Asia, could be more challenging from now on as prospective clients would think twice before they buy American equipment or technologies like ours.” The Chinese market accounted for more than 60 percent of the global semiconductor consumption in 2019. So, the shift away from the US suppliers could potentially hard domestic businesses in America.
The executive also added that despite the California based company does not directly supply Huawei, “a lot of Chinese tech companies, those buying from us included, have some sorts of relationships with Huawei. There is no way to know whether what we sell to a non-Huawei company will not eventually become part of a Huawei product.” In other words, the US products may eventually be reaching the blacklisted Chinese company.
This translates to potential complications with the US government since the new sanctions dictate that a special license must be obtained to provide products to blacklisted companies. Thus, the unclear nature of the entire transaction and trade could harm the US based companies if their technology is found being used by companies like Huawei later on.

OnePlus is rolling out OxygenOS Open Beta 5 for OnePlus 7T/7T Pro. The new build bumps up the security patch level to June 2020 and brings a number of new features.
OnePlus recently made changes in its update delivery schedule. According to it, Open Beta releases have been reduced to one per month compared to two builds earlier. Many brands have been launching their offerings within this category, with Sony also launching its first TWS earbuds in India later this month. However, the company didn’t officially give out a launch date, but a new leak has revealed a launch on 24th June 2020.

The wireless earbuds in question are the Sony WF-1000XM3. These earphones were launched back in 2019 in most overseas markets and are finally making their way to India. The Sony earphones received a very positive reception with many praises for its active noise cancelation technology and signature Extra Bass tuning. However, these earphones weren’t exactly affordable, but a lowered price tag is rumored with certain reports suggesting a special Indian variant as well.
Furthermore, the cause for such a large delay to launch in the India market could be related to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, since the local government had issued a two month long nationwide lockdown, which is only now easing up. The Sony WF-1000XM3 is said to arrive under the 20,000 INR segment (roughly 263 US Dollars) and will be available through both online and offline stores.
The leaked June 24th launch date was shared by Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) through Twitter. His tweet also carried a promotional image that carried the announcement date. These earbuds will be the company’s first TWS earphone in the Indian market, so stay tuned for more details and its announcement.
Xiaomi has launched Mi Notebook Pro 15 2020 models in China powered by 10th gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors based on 14nm architecture (Comet Lake). These laptops also come with a dedicated NVIDIA MX350 GPU.
The new Mi Notebook Pro 15 2020 is available in two variants. The only difference between both the versions is their processor, RAM, and storage. Whereas, the rest of the specifications are identical.
Talking about dissimilarities, the cheaper 5,999 Yuan ($848) model is powered by Intel Core i5-10210U processor paired with 8GB dual-channel 2666MHz DDR4 RAM and 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The costlier 6,999 Yuan ($989) model, on the other hand, comes powered by Intel Core i7-10510U coupled with the same type of RAM and SSD but their sizes are 16GB and 1TB respectively.
These Xiaomi laptops feature a 15.6-inch FHD screen covering 100% of sRGB color gamut. The bezels are 6.52mm, which gives them an 81.5% screen to body ratio. The display is laminated by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 178° viewing angle.
They come with a full-size backlit keyboard with support for Fn + K shortcut, which enables users to switch between quiet, balanced, and full speed modes. As mentioned earlier, these notebooks also feature a dedicated NVIDIA MX350 GPU based on Pascal architecture and dual cooling fans to keep the thermals down.
As for ports, they include 2 x USB Type-C, 2 x USB 3.1, HDMI, 3.5mm headphone jack, and full-size SD card slot. Other features include fingerprint scanner, precision touchpad, HD webcam, dual-band WiFi 6, Dolby Audio, Harman Audio, Hi-Res Audio, 60WHr battery, 1C fast charging over USB Type-C, and 18W power output for phone charging.
Earlier today (12th June 2020), the new MIJIA DC Portable Fan was announced with pre-orders also being opened on the official Xiaomi website in China. The fan begins sale on 16th June 2020 and is priced at 299 Yuan (roughly 42 US Dollars).
The MIJIA DC Portable Fan arrives with a few interesting features. This includes a direct airflow that reached up to 10 meters in distance. In other words, it can potentially even cover an entire room or a small house through its powerful air blow. The portable fan can also turn left and right by up to 120 degrees and up and down by about 90 degrees.
This offers it a three dimensional swing that can send air in varying angles, as per the users’ needs. The MIJIA DC Portable Fan uses a dual circulation fan that also simulates a natural wind. It is a lightweight and smart gadget, with energy saving technology, which allows it to consume less than 1kWh in 40 hours of continuous use.
The airflow from the MIJIA DC Portable Fan can reach up to 10 meters, blowing about 18 cubic meters every minute. Through its dual fan system, it can circulate the air within the room and even be used with windows open, to improve ventilation inside the house. The portable fan features a brushless motor that offers 5 different levels of wind speed adjustments as well.
Since it is a smart gadget, the device can be connected to other smart home products through the MIJIA app. Thus, it supports the XiaoAI voice assistant and can be remotely controlled as well. Oppo has just launched a new mid range smartphone along with truly wireless earbuds in India. The Oppo A52 arrives in the sub-20,000 INR segment (roughly 263 US Dollars) while the Chinese tech giant has yet to announce the price of the Enco W11 TWS earbuds for the Indian market.

Oppo A52 sports a 6.5 inch FHD+ display, which features a 90.5 percent screen to body ratio and an 8 megapixel punch hole selfie camera on the front. On the rear, a quad camera setup is offered with a 12 megapixel primary sensor, 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, 2 megapixel depth sensor, and a 2 megapixel macro lens. Under the hood, the device houses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 SoC with 128GB of internal storage, three different RAM variants, and two color options, including Twilight Black and Stream White.
Currently, only the 6GB RAM version is being sold for 16,990 INR (roughly 223 US Dollars), while the company has promised a 4GB RAM and 8GB RAM version as well for the Oppo A52. The device is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery, which supports 18W fast charging and runs the Android 10 based ColorOS 7.1. It weighs 192 grams and has a thickness of 8.9mm. The Oppo A52 will be available for purchase through popular online retailers and offline stores, with sales starting from 17th June 2020.

The Oppo Enco W11 is the company’s offerings in the popular truly wireless earbuds category. It sports a bean shaped design that should offer a comfortable and secure fit. Each earbud features an 8mm dynamic driver, which offers up to 5 hours of runtime on a single full charge and up to 20 hours of playback through its charging case. Unfortunately, the company has yet to announce the pricing details for the wireless earbuds, so stay tuned.
An ex-Samsung Electronics executive has assured that his move to China won’t involve any technological leak in the process. Chang Won-ki made the statement after concerns were raised about his move to a Chinese semiconductor company.

Chang was the president and head of Samsung’s China operation. The senior executive made headlines with his move to Beijing Eswin Computing Technology became public knowledge. He had reportedly joined Eswin as the Vice Chairman earlier this year, back in February. Notably, Eswin is led by Wang Dongsheng, who had previously worked as the Chairman for the Chinese display firm known as BOE, which is also a known rival of Samsung and LG in the industry.
In a recent interview, Chang stated that he had joined Eswin out of his friendship with Wang. He added that he even introduced BOE made LCD panels to Samsung back when Wang was serving as chairman of BOE. To address the concerns over technological leaks, Chang said that he worked in Samsung’s semiconductor field back when the company made 1MB DRAM and has no current knowledge of the technology to give away.
