Xiaomi‘s 2018 stock Android-running Mi A2 Lite last week received an update to Google’s latest Android 10 OS but that was not to last as the company soon rolled back the update as a result of bugs. The early build of the update was expected to have some bugs but in the case of the Mi A2 Lite, just like the Mi A3, the issues with the update extend beyond just a few minor bugs. Some users complained of their phone’s LCD getting damaged permanently while in other cases, the battery won’t charge fully. In some extreme cases, the phones got bricked and several other issues.
Xiaomi is reportedly working hard to fix the issues caused by the flopped Android 10 update. To this end, the company’s software team announced in the Mi community that it is working towards rolling out a new OTA update all through this month. In essence, owners of the Mi A2 Lite will start receiving the update in batches before April. However, no specific date was stated for the rollout.
In addition, Xiaomi is encouraging A2 Lite users whose models were bricked by the botched Android 10 update to take the units to authorized Mi service centres or return them to retailers for post-sales assistance (RMA).
We’ll keep you informed as soon as the updates start rolling.
Xiaomi‘s latest Mi 10 flagship has reportedly been certified by US media-services provider and production company Netflix. This was announced today on Weibo by Zhang Guoquan, director of Xiaomi’s mobile phone system software department. He also disclosed that the Mi 10 series features support for HD video and HDR10 streaming format in addition to Dolby vision.
According to Zhang, Xiaomi had to end the Mi 10 to Netflix for testing in order to implement the function. Since Netflix is not openly accessible in China due to local restrictions, the feature wasn’t mentioned during the launch but the Chinese version equally has the feature onboard.
Netflix is best known for its subscription-based streaming service which offers online streaming of a library of films and television programs, including those produced in-house. The firm boasts of over 148 million paid subscriptions worldwide. HD compatible devices like the Mi 10 can be used to play high-definition Netflix videos.
Netflix offers users three streaming plans with different packages and video quality. The Basic streaming plan is available for a monthly fee of $8.99 and has the least features. This package can only be used on a single device at a time and offers just standard definition (SD) video quality. The second plan is called Standard streaming plan and costs $12.99 monthly. With this plan, you get the liberty to view contents on two screens and in high definition (HD) which is awesome quality.
The third streaming package is the Premium streaming plan offered for $15.99 per month. The plan gives you the liberty to view different contents on four screens at the same time. The video quality is in either HD or 4K Ultra HD, if available.

The premium tablet equally supports gigabit LTE but not 5G.
One spectacular new addition to the iPad Pro 2020 is called a LIDAR scanner. The tablet packs three camera sensors. The scanner is said to work alongside the tablet’s camera for depth sensing and AR. Yet another cool feature is the new keyboard that the device comes with called Magic Keyboard. The keyboard has a trackpad and is also adjustable to suit the user’s viewing position. The keyboard’s trackpad isn’t just a re-enactment of the MacOS version. Rather, it presents with some new features such that as users move their finger across the trackpad, the pointer elegantly transforms to highlight user interface elements. Apple shared a video highlighting this feature. Find the video below.
In addition, the keyboard is backlit, supports USB-C passthrough charging, and has a “smooth angle adjustment.” The Magic keyboard will be available in May and comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions. The smaller sized keyboard will set buyers apart $299 while the bigger version costs $349.

Xiaomi‘s Redmi brand officially commenced teasing the launch of the much-anticipated Redmi K30 pro flagship scheduled for March 24. Ahead of the launch, instead of giving room for fake leaks, the company has consistently released teasers revealing the features of the device.

The virtual keypad will send some 4D immersive tactile response during gaming actions such as firing.
Earlier teasers have also confirmed the presence of UFS 3.1 flash storage and VC liquid cooling system onboard the K30 pro which allows for better heat dispersion and lowers overall temperatures during extended or intensive periods of smartphone usage. Sadly, Xiaomi ha also revealed that the device will only support 60Hz refresh rate.
As for the key specs, the Redmi K30 Pro is expected to come with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate and in-display fingerprint scanner. It is also expected to have pop-up front-facing camera setup for taking selfies and video calling and rear quad-camera setup.

Oppo has just released its new anti gaming addiction system earlier today (18th March 2020). The system will limit and strictly controls the expenditure of minors or unregistered users. This is a part of the first wave of such systems from OEMs that are seeking to combat mobile gaming addiction.
According to official notes, games run on the Oppo smartphones with the anti addiction system will have users input a real name authentication. This is mandatory and will be required to fill. In other words, real life details and identity must be provided to buy games or other such purchases. This new system will automatically restrict users under the age of 8 from spending more than 50 Yuan (roughly 7 US Dollars) in a single transaction and not more than 200 Yuan (roughly 28 US Dollars) per month.
Mobile Gaming addiction is a major problem in China
Similarly, people over the age of 16 but under 18, can not make a single transaction crossing 100 Yuan (roughly 14 US Dollars) or 400 Yuan (roughly 57 US Dollars) in a month. So, users that meet any of the above criteria, will face restriction when launching the Oppo anti gaming addiction service and inputting their official details.
Oppo, similar to various other OEMs, has been facing varying degrees of impacts due to the recent Coronavirus pandemic. However, the Chinese company has still gone ahead with the troubled development to deploy the new system as soon as possible. Underage people with gaming addictions have been a rampant problem in recent times in the Southeast Asian country. China has had many strict laws and guidelines in place and has been actively trying to curb this.
Notably, Tencent Games, a notable game publisher from China, has recently announced that it will be running several game trials to promote its anti addiciton gaming policies starting from this month. Furthermore, even the Chinese Government is straining the game studios, making it harder for new game titles from being launched in the country. Although, it remains to be seen just how effective the new Oppo anti gaming system or steps from the local government is, so stay tuned.

ReMarkable has unveiled reMarkable 2, the successor to its well-received e-paper tablet launched a few years back. The newer model follows the footsteps of its predecessor with better design and a more powerful processor.
Unlike iPad and other tablets, the reMarkable tablet came with an e-paper display and its sole competitor was Sony’s DPT-RP1. Although Amazon Kindles feature e-paper displays, they can be only used as a reader, whereas, reMarkable allowed you to do more like writing notes on them with a stylus. The company crowdfunded this product and managed to sell more than 100,000 units.
Now, after a few years of development, thanks to $15 million investment from Spark Capital, the company is back with reMarkable 2, a successor to its original product with improved features. The new tablet from the company features a new reworked display from the previous generation by working closely with E Ink, the primary manufacturer, and investor in e-paper displays. This means the screen still measures 10.3-inches with 1872 x 1404 resolution and 226 DPI but features a paper-like surface and anti-glare layer. Though the newer model comes with the same 3,000 mah battery from its forerunner, the company claims a 3x boost in battery life because of a more powerful and more battery-efficient dual-core ARM processor present in it.
The reMarkable 2 is priced at $399, which is per se much cheaper than the original’s $700 asking price. Customers who pre-order it will get a Marker (stylus) worth $49 and a folio case as freebies.
While MediaTek and Qualcomm have a couple of 5G chipsets for mid-range phones, Huawei is yet to announce one. There have been reports of one coming soon and it is expected to power the Honor 30S. Specs of the chipset which is reported to be called the Kirin 820 5G have been leaked today by a leaker.
The info was posted on Weibo by Digital Chat Station. According to the leaker, the Kirin 820 will be a 7nm chipset with Cortex-A77 CPU cores and a Mali-G77 GPU. He also added that the chipset will have an upgraded ISP and NPU.
The info doesn’t reveal the CPU arrangement, so we do not know how many Cortex-A77 cores it has. However, it appears to be more powerful than the Snapdragon 765G whose Kryo 475 cores are based on the Cortex-A76. However, it should be able to take on the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L which also has Cortex-A77 cores and a Mali-G77 GPU.
The Kirin 820 5G chipset is expected to launch tomorrow based on a statement by Zhao Ming, the president of Honor. The top executive said on Weibo that there will be an announcement tomorrow which is the 8th anniversary of Vmall, Huawei (and Honor’s) online mall. The announcement will be for a “new product whose core has been redesigned”. This statement is implied to be a hint for the new chipset.
The Kirin 820 5G will appear first in the Honor 30S but expect more devices to follow shortly after it is launched.
Amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic, Huawei has recently developed a new AI assisted quantitative medical image analysis service to improve Coronavirus infection diagnosis in collaboration with the Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Lanwon Technology.
The fear of the Coronavirus outbreak has gripped the world, especially China
The launch of the new service could play a major role in improving the infrastructure which can accurately and quickly detect the viral infection. This could potentially help curb further infections and other complications in time. The National Health Commission of China has now officially included the diagnosis solutions offered through the service alongside its own prescribed treatment and detection solutions, which were published back in 4th February 2020.
Huawei Cloud utilizes artificial intelligence technology such as computer vision and medical image analysis to automatically detect the virus quickly and accurately. It even details the CT quantification and other results from the imaging to the clinical doctors at hand. The new service will bolster the fight against COVID-19 and could help relieve pressures and workloads from quarantines and the on duty doctors in the Hubei province.
Notably, the new service also utilizes powerful computing capabilities through Huawei’s Ascend series of AI chipsets. These processors can also output CT quantization results in mere seconds, making them a lot more viable and efficient in comparison to traditional methods used by doctors. Conventional techniques involve manually drawing ROIs that need to be tested separately. Thus, the Huawei diagnostic solution could prove to be very useful in the weeks to come.

In recent times, various smartphone manufacturer’s are shifting towards a new front. The new trend is in expanding one’s electronic ecosystem. Apple was one of the first to follow this philosophy and more are now following suit. Now, Realme had recently launched its own wearable, Realme Band, and might have just teased its first smartwatch as well.
Realme’s official Twitter handle had just posted a new tweet earlier today (18th March 2020). The tweet shared a short video trailer that teases the existence of a gadget dubbed Narzo. However, it is unknown as to what the device actually is. But according to various rumors and speculations, it may be the company’s first smartwatch. Looking at the video and tweet, the post was clearly catered towards the Indian market, which may be indicative of an initial launch in India.
As previously mentioned, various OEMs are seeking to expand their IoT (Internet of Things) portfolio and grow their own electronic ecosystem. Realme is one of the fastest growing and a relatively young smartphone brand, which is already a popular name in various markets especially India. So it would come as no surprise if the Chinese company were to soon launch its own smartwatch in India first.

From what we know so far, the wearable has been confirmed in a recent launch conference, which also detailed a banking app software and other IoT products and smartphones. So stay tuned for more updates that are expected to arrive soon.
