Dentists advise that we brush our teeth at least twice every day and each session should last for at least 2 minutes. So many persons are usually unable to keep to this advice. even adults just want to brush quickly and head out not to talk of children. It is pretty difficult getting kids to open their mouth, more so for up to two minutes. That is where the Y-Brush comes in. The manufacturer touts the retainer-shaped toothbrush of delivering cleaner teeth is just 10 seconds.
The Y-Brush is designed and developed by French company FasTeesH. The product was first launched on crowdfunding in 2018 and the company was able to raise $165,000. The product recently started shipping to backers and subsequently, is now ready to go on sale after CES.
The Y-Brush is a full-coverage electric toothbrush which features a flexible gum shield lined with nylon bristles on the inside. The gum shield is wide enough to cover an entire jaw and is also attached to a square power base. To use, the individual has to smear the recommended amount of toothpaste on the bristle side and then insert the retainer into your mouth. You’ll then have to keep your mouth closed for 5 seconds while it cleans the teeth. After the device is used on the upper jaw, for instance, it can then be flipped over and used on the lower jaw.
The toothbrush presents with three vibration modes. The battery is durable as a fully charged cell is said to be able to last for a month. There is equally a charging stand in case you run out of battery.
The Y-Bruh is designed not only for adults but also for kids. Of course, jaw sizes differ and that is taken into consideration in the design. Thre is a small size for kids from the ages of 4 to 12, and medium-size for older persons. The brushing head is replaceable and FasTeesH recommends changing it every six months, unlike the normal toothbrush that dentists recommend should be changed every three months. The replacement brush head costs $30 apiece.
The baseline Y-Brush kit costs $125 and includes a handle, brush, USB charger, toothpaste applicator, and a storage container for two brushes.
A new AI powered prosthetic hand has been developed that allows a person to move it with one’s mind. The latest breakthrough works in sync with an amputee’s brain waves and muscle signals to replicate the movement that one would’ve made with a real hand.
BrainCo, the company behind the prosthetic hand, unveiled the final model at CES 2020, on Monday. Notably, the firm also received a spot in one of Time Magazine’s top 100 inventions of 2019. The company is also expecting to start shipping the new prosthetic hand in the US market later this year as well.
BrainCo’s AI Powered Prosthetic Hand (Image Via CNET)
According to Max Newlon, President of BrainCo, the company has developed a new method of understanding electrical impulses from the brain going into the residual limb of an amputee. The prosthetic hand then detects the intention of the user and translates it to real world movements.
Reportedly, it takes just about 5 to 10 minutes to program six gestures into the prosthetic hand, which apparently gets better and more life like the more one moves the hand. Another benefit of the new AI powered prosthetic hand is the cost. Typical robotic prosthetic limbs can be priced around $60,000 (roughly 416,526 Yuan), however, the BrainCo’s new prosthetic hand could be priced between $10,000 to $15,000 (roughly 70,000 to 100,000 Yuan).
Currently, the AI powered prosthetic hand is awaiting FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval process, which means once it is cleared, BrainCo can start officially selling the product. With over hundreds of million amputees worldwide, the new invention could be a boon to many, including war veterans or those born with physical defects.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is looking to start manufacturing its range of televisions in India starting the first quarter of 2020. OnePlus plans to leverage its position in the local market, and turn it into a production hub for global supplies. The company plans to follow Samsung’s lead by localizing parts supply, which in turn directly leads to minimizing expenses.
Vikas Agarwal, General Manager for OnePlus India, in a statement revealed that the company is currently in talks with its global component supplier to invest in India. Every major component for manufacturing televisions is currently imported. Localization will help reduce costs in the long run. OnePlus currently plans to assemble smart TVs in India at a partner’s facility. Importing television components and assembling them here will help save on taxes for the time being.
The Indian government abolished import duty on open cell television panels last year to strengthen its ‘Make in India’ initiative. According to the Economic Times, industry sources claim OnePlus is in advance stages of negotiation with local firm Dixon Technologies for assembling its TV lineup. Dixon currently manufactures TVs for some of the biggest brands like Samsung, Panasonic, and Xiaomi. Neither OnePlus nor Dixon has officially commented on the subject.
In a major development last week, Samsung announced its return to manufacturing television sets in India following the government’s decision on eliminating import duties on open cell panels. Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is keen on expanding its manufacturing setup in the country. Sony and LG have also expressed interest in investing in India following the development.
Agarwal mentions that OnePlus is currently focusing on the company’s core user base of 5 million people to help boost television sales. The OnePlus TV is currently available on Amazon India, Croma, and OnePlus stores throughout the country. They plan on expanding sales via large-format sellers, a strategy previously used during the initial days of selling smartphones in India.
According to Agarwal, “Smart television sales currently account for 10% of the domestic market, and is projected to grow exponentially within the next couple of years”. The competition is real and OnePlus plans to gear up to survive the test of time. The brand currently has over 30 stores in 15 cities around India, and they plan to reach more than 50 cities and 100 stores by the end of 2020.
Although the Indian stores are operated by OnePlus, a business partner is in charge of managing sales. Agarwal confirmed that the company is not looking to change this structure anytime soon. He said, “Selling smartphones is a priority. We plan on making out portfolio available to general trade outlets. We have already partnered with Redington in this endeavor.”

HiSense today took the stage at CES to showcase a host of new television sets that the company will be releasing this year. The products displayed by the company includes a refresh of its projector/television hybrid laser TV and premium ULED TVs.
The company showcased HiSense L5 Laser TV which is a follow-up to the L10E launched in 2018. It retains the same form factor that teams a display screen with an ultra-short throw projector for precise image control.
However, the TV is now a bit dimmer than the previous model, at 2,600 lumens rather than the L10E’s 3,000 lumens. It runs a rather simpler Android TV smart platform and has a smaller color gamut. Coming to the markets in April with lower specs compared to the predecessor, it could be priced aggressively.
Along with that, the company also showcased HiSense XD9G ULED TV which is making use of the company’s own Dual Cell panel. It fuses a 2K and 4K panel together for enhanced contrast, and boasts ‘rival contrast’ to OLED at a lower price. It is said to be available for purchase in late 2020.
Hisense’s H Series of ULEDs will also get some new models, with a H9G Quantum follow-up to the H9F, and an H8G successor to the H8F. These devices are slated to be available for purchase in April and March respectively.
Also, the company is set to launch H65G (4K) and H55G (2K) LCD sets later this year but has not specified any timeline. They are less advanced models with Android smart platforms and without ULED enhancements.

Engraving is not a new thing and Apple has long offered such the option for selected products. The engraving option has been available for AirPods as well, but it was limited to text only. Now the company is expanding the engraving option for AirPods to include emojis as well. Yes, you heard that right, you engrave an emoji onto your AirPods case.
“New personal engraving options, from A to emoji” states Apple in a new banner featured on the home page of its website. You can now customize AirPods in the Apple Online Store through the “Personalize it for free” option that appears when you select the earphones. The current options are fairly limited, but all the most popular emojis are mostly there.
Users can also add text to personalize their devices, with Apple introducing a new uppercase typeface that offers more pop than the original typeface, which was lower case and smaller on the AirPods. Right now, it’s not possible to mix emoji and text – you must choose one or the other, though, for text-based options, you can add numbers and dates.
Once you add a pair of AirPods or AirPods Pro to your basket, you can click on the ‘Add Engraving’ option and run through the short engraving process. The offer right now is available in United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and a few other countries where iPhone maker can exercise direct online sale.

At CES 2019, Lenovo has showcased what seemed like the “world’s first foldable PC.” It was a prototype laptop notebook that could fold into and resemble a book. Jump forward to today (7th December 2020), Lenovo has unveiled the same laptop at CES 2020 which is now ready for commercial markets and is dubbed as the ThinkPad X1 Fold.
ThinkPad X1 Fold
Design
Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Fold is the world’s first foldable PC and thus arrives with a body mainly consisting of the screen on the front side. It arrives with an additional wireless keyboard but users can use the laptop without it as well. On the rear, the laptop is bound in leather, which is a really premium touch, that slides back and forth as the hinge unfolds. Interestingly, the device can easily pass off as a regular leather bound book when folded.
A leather finish can be observed on the rear of the ThinkPad X1 Fold
Specifications
Unfortunately, Lenovo has yet to reveal the exact specification of the product, similar to last year. However, it has barely changed in its internal specifications from the prototype variant. Hence, it arrives with a 13.3 inch flexible OLED panel with aa resolution of 2048 x 1536 and a 4:3 ratio. The ThinkPad X1 Fold also features Microsoft’s Windows Hello-compatible camera on its bezel.
The display is provided by LG and is said to be a product of a 4 year long partnership between the South Korean electronics company and Lenovo. Notably, there are still concerns being raised about the durability of the device. The doubt is in the right place considering one of the first foldable devices to be launched ended up breaking very soon (Samsung Galaxy Fold comes to mind). Also, a slight crease can be noticed in the middle of the screen where it bends if one looks hard enough.
Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Fold comes with Windows 10 Pro; thus, the company has to ship the device with its own solutions and optimizations for the foldable screen functionality. There is a version of Windows called Windows 10X which is expected to arrive later this year and bring Microsoft optimizations for the OS on dual display devices like the Surface Neo.
Under the hood, the foldable laptop from Lenovo runs a special Intel chipset which has not been specified, although it is hinted at as “hybrid technology.” This new processor is apparently power efficient as well since the company claimed an 11 hour battery life on it. For memory, it is equipped with 8GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage.
Price and Availability
The ThinkPad X1 Fold from Lenovo is a new breed of laptops and hence arrives with a hefty price tag. It will have buyers shell out $2,499 or roughly about 17,370 Yuan. The PC will start its shipping in mid 2020 and will be an experiment to see how well such one of a kind devices are received by the global market.
