Oppo has today taken to Weibo to announce the company’s first true wireless earbuds — Oppo Enco Free. The company has also confirmed that the new TWS earphones will get launched on 26th December, along with the Oppo Reno 3 series smartphones.
The company has also shared renders of the product, confirming that it will be available in three color options — White, Pink, and Black. Looking at the design, the Oppo Enco Free seem very similar to the Apple AirPods.
The Enco Free from Oppo uses a half-in-ear design which can also be changed to shallow in-ear through the ear cap. This will be the second wireless audio product from Oppo under its Enco lineup.
Earlier this year, a couple of months ago, the company had launched Oppo Enco Q1 Wireless noise-cancelling headphones. It uses a 3D neckband design that’s thick at the end and thin at the center.
The Q1 headphones feature dual Active Noise Cancellation with four mics. It is using a hybrid noise cancellation technology on its new model, featuring both a feedforward and feedback ANC. The feedforward active noise cancellation uses the external microphone to measure ambient noise before it enters the ear, processing that signal to ensure an exact and opposite signal leaves the system’s speaker to effectively cancel the ambient noise.
It remains to be seen if the upcoming Oppo Enco Free will offer active noise-cancellation. However, expect the company to share more details about the product through teaser posters on social media as the launch event nears.
Huawei has today announced that the company’s flagship smartphone — Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G will now be available in Green color variant for the 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage model from 12th December.
The Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G 8GB + 128GB model is priced at 6,399 yuan which roughly converts to $909. When launched, the company had announced two color variants for the device — Vegan Leather Orange and Vegan Leather Forest Green.
The smartphone is powered by Kirin 990 5G, a 7nm + EUV processor. It not only has a built-in 5G modem but its NPU chip has two big cores and one small core which are overclocked while the regular Kirin 990 has one big core and one small core.
The Mate 30 5G and Mate 30 Pro 5G each have a total of 21 antennas, 14 which are for 5G, more than double the 6-antenna design of other 5G phones. Both 5G phones come with support for both SA and NSA 5G dual-mode, adapting 5G / 4G / 3G / 2G frequency bands of the three major domestic operators.
This flagship smartphone series is apparently doing extremely well in its home country. The company recently reported that it has already sold over a million units of the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro since the phones went on sale in China on September 26. This is pretty impressive considering they achieved it in less than a week.
Apparently, Huawei managed to reach this goal in the span of a three hours, as Richard Yu made the announcement during the opening of a Huawei flagship store in Shenzhen. Including the online orders, Huawei was bringing in CNY 500 million a minute, implying a rate of 100,000 sales per minute. Now those are some pretty big numbers.
It’s noteworthy that the Mate 30 series comes without support for Google apps and services. While it may be a big deal in other markets, it isn’t so in China where most Android phones don’t come pre-installed with Google Play Services.

Vivo will be launching the Vivo X30 and Vivo X30 Pro 5G smartphones on Dec. 16. Recent reports have revealed that the X30 or X30 Pro has a model number of V1938T. This model number has been spotted on the database of 3C certification site and on Geekbench, but it hasn’t appeared on TENAA yet. The X30 series is expected to deliver topnotch camera experience. Oppo has been teasing its upcoming lineup of 5G smartphones — Oppo Reno 3 series. Today, the company has officially confirmed that the devices will go official in its home country on 26th December and the event will take place in Hangzhou.
The company is expected to launch two smartphones at its December 26th launch event — Oppo Reno 3 and Oppo Reno 3 Pro. Both the devices will come with support for dual-mode SA/NSA 5G connectivity.
It is said that while the Oppo Reno 3 will come with MediaTek 5G chipset, the Pro variant of the lineup will be powered by the Qualcomm 5G chipset — Snapdragon 765G. This is the same chipset that is powering the newly launched Redmi K30.
Oppo has already confirmed that the body thickness of the Pro model is 7.7mm while the body thickness of the Oppo Reno 3 is 7.96mm. Rumors have it that the Reno 3 has a 6.4-inch OLED display that will offer 1080 x 2400 pixels full HD+ resolution. The phone could be coming with 64-megapixel quad rear cameras.

Renders and leaked images of the phone reveal that the company has opted for a punch-hole display that curves towards the edges. Both the smartphones will have an in-display fingerprint sensor for added security. To know for sure about the phone’s specifications, as well as pricing and availability details, we’ll have to wait for the official launch in the coming weeks.
When Meizu first unveiled the Meizu Zero Holeless smartphone in January this year, we had though the company was on a path to resurgence going by the spectacular design that the phone utilised. The crowdfunding exercise on Indiegogo proved us wrong with the phone getting a disappointing 29 backers who raised a paltry $45,998. At the same time, Vivo also announced the holeless Vivo APEX 2019.
While enthusiasm isn’t too high on the prospect of the design style, some phone enthusiasts in China have been asking questions as to when the design style will become commercial. China Mobile has perhaps received several questions as to the when hole-less phones will meet with consumers. China Mobile Terminal Lab gave several reasons from the technical perspective, why hole-less phones are ready to hit the market sooner than later.
Buttons: Most phone already makes use of virtual buttons and even on some curved screen phones, the volume buttons are almost completely invisible on some curved screen phones. Since phones utilise touchscreens, a transformation to entirely virtual button design is now more realistic.
Four holes for sound: Smartphones rely heavily on four major openings for sound input and output – 3.5mm audio jack opening, noise reduction hole, earpiece and speaker. The emergence of Bluetooth headset has taken care of the need for a 3.5mm audio jack opening on phones and most new models don’t have one even though some audiophiles prefer the good old audio jack. The other three openings are still frequent residents of mobile phones but in recent times, bone conduction technology and under-screen sound technology and others in the works have brought the prospects of eliminating these openings.
Card slot: Virtual cards such as eSIM are now in use. Even though they are yet to be deployed very well in smartphones, they are fitting replacement for the physical SIM slot opening
China Mobile notes that charging distance is still the only thing yet to be overcome. It noted that even though there is wireless fast charging technology, there is still no solution to increasing the charging distance such that you don’t need to put the phone in contact with the charging pad or cradle to charge it. Some find the inability to use their mobile phones while charging inconveniencing. We expect Over-the-air wireless charging that can deliver small amounts of power at a distance from inches to 3 feet to become available in smartphones soon.

Best flagship smartphones of the month
Huawei Nova 6 5G
Huawei Nova 6 5G
Last month Huawei announced the Nova 6 5G: one of its first 5G smartphones with a 5G integrated modem. It rocks a Kirin 990 chipset and it even provides a pretty nice camera experience thanks to a 40 MP triple camera including OIS and 3x optical zoom. You get even an amazing dual front camera considered the best selfie setup ever by DxOMark. The handset even sports a big 4200 mAh battery with a very fast charging technology reaching a 40W power. Android 10 is preinstalled and there is even a punch-hole display with very narrow bezels.
Honor V30 Pro is a very similar device to the Huawei Nova 6 5G, but there are a few differences besides the fact that it is a smartphone from Huawei’s sub-brand. The rear camera setup is slightly better than the one found on the Huawei Nova 6 5G, while the dual front cameras are the same. The battery is slightly smaller, but unlike the Nova 6 5G, it supports fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. You get the same Kirin 990 chipset with an integrated 5G modem and 8 GB of RAM. All with a starting price of just €500 in the Chinese market.
If you have no limits of budget and you need the highest performance, then you should give a chance to OnePlus 7T Pro. It is one of the fastest smartphones out there thanks to its Snapdragon 855+ chipset, up to 12 GB of RAM, a UFS 3.0 native storage and even an amazing software optimization. It is perfect for gamers and all the power users. You even get one of the highest-quality displays in the market with a high Quad HD+ resolution (hard to find on Chinese flagship smartphones), a wide 6.67-inch AMOLED panel and a 90 Hz refresh rate. On the OnePlus 7T Pro you can also find more than 4000 mAh battery and a pretty nice 48 MP triple camera with OIS.
While OnePlus 7T Pro is the best alternative for performance lovers, Huawei Mate 30 Pro is definitely the best smartphone for you if you need the best photo quality. Thanks to its rear quad camera including two 40 MP sensors, OIS and 3x optical zoom, there is no flagship smartphone that can actually win the competition with the Mate 30 Pro. And how not to talk about the battery? It is a huge 4500 mAh unit providing a very long battery life and supporting both fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Huawei Mate 30 Pro even comes in a 5G variant featuring a Kirin 990 chipset with an integrated modem. The handset sports the new Horizon display with extremely curved borders and the side touch technology. Unlike most of the Chinese handsets, it is waterproof.
We just showed you two expensive flagship smartphones… Now it is time for an affordable flagship: Oppo Reno Ace. Despite carrying a killer price under €500, this device still provides amazing performance thanks to the awesome Snapdragon 855+ chipset paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and UFS 3.0 internal storage. Another advantage is the presence of a 90 Hz display with HDR support and a 4000 mAh battery with the most amazing fast charging technology: SuperVOOC Flash Charge reaching power of up to 65W and charging the phone in just 30 minutes. Oppo Reno Ace even comes with a great camera department supporting OIS and a high-end 48 MP sensor.
Realme X2 Pro is a flagship killer just like the Oppo Reno Ace, but with a few differences. It retains the powerful Snapdragon 855+ chipset and the UFS 3.0 storage, but it loses the OIS for the rear camera and it uses a Samsung 64 MP sensor instead of a Sony 48 MP sensor as the main shooter. On the other hand, it offers an HDR10+ display with higher brightness. It packs a 4000 mAh battery and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers and it is even sold in the global market with a price tag starting from just €399.
If you can not afford Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G but you still want a 5G flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G is the handset that will satisfy you. With the Snapdragon 855+ chipset and a 5G modem, it will deliver amazing performance and connectivity, supporting the latest 5th generation standards. For the rest, it seems like the vanilla Mi 9, but with a bigger 4000 mAh battery supporting 40W fast charging, 30W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Last but not least, the king of gaming phones: Asus ROG Phone 2, with its RGB LEDs, the support to external accessories and, obviously, a top-class hardware department. It is fueled by the Snapdragon 855+ chipset and it has one of the most amazing displays out there with more than 100% DCI P3 coverage, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 240 Hz touch sensing. You even get a mammoth 6000 mAh battery with the support of reverse charging.
Quite a number of folks hated math in high school and now that they are older, they dread having to teach their kids. If you are a parent or a student struggling with math, Microsoft has a new Android app called Math Solver to help you with your math problems.
The Math Solver App uses advanced AI to solve questions. You can input your questions in three ways: type the question, scan (take a picture) of the problem, or draw (read, write) the question. The app then solves the question and provides a step-by-step solution on how it solved it so you can learn. It will also provide graphs and online video lectures related to the problem as well as similar questions for you to solve as practice.
Microsoft says the Math Solver app can provide solutions to various problems arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, and even word problems.

The Math Solver app is based on the math assistant available on OneNote used in schools according to Microsoft. The app is free to download on the Play Store with no in-app purchases. It is just 25MB in size and works with Android devices running Lollipop and up.

On the whole, AnTuTu notes that for mid-range phones, a powerful SoC and UFS storage is a mandatory feature to make the cut as regards the top 10. Larger storage configuration or dual-channel UFS storage are pluses.
The Huawei Band 4 Pro was announced last week alongside the Nova 6 series. The smart band is priced at 399 yuan ($56) and will officially go on sale on December 12 in China. The smart wearable may likely hit the international market soon. While we await that, here are some unboxing/hands-on pictures of the Band 4 Pro to help us better appreciate the design style.
The design of the Band 4 Pro is quite similar to that of the Band 4 that was launched in October. However, as the name implies, this model is a Pro version with several hardware improvements and some slight changes in the design.
The packaging box is similar to that of the Band 4 but the content is slightly different. The box contains the Band 4 Pro, a USB-A to USB-2.0 cord and a spring-loaded pin (pogo pin) connector. This is different from the Band 4 which is connected directly via a USB 2.0 port. With this design, you don’t need to remove the strap to charge the phone. Just to slot the Pogo pin connector in and plug to a power source.
The display remains a 0.95-inch AMOLED high-definition colour screen with a brushed metal frame as well as a skin-friendly silicone strap. The rubber strap is comfortable to wear and lightweight.
In terms of the internals, what distinguishes the Band 4 Pro from its sibling is the presence of a standalone NFC which supports payment of access cards and 252 city transportation cards and also supports Alipay scan code payment. There is also a built-in GPS which expands the tracking features of the smartwatch. The smartwatch is also said to feature up to 11 different sports modes and can keep track of over 127 different sports data. There is also an independent built-in GPS tracker on board. The Band 4 Pro houses a SpO2 meter which monitors the oxygen saturation rate of the blood. It also comes with the usual heart rate monitor as well as sleep tracker.

Since the Xperia 1 was released, Sony‘s new naming pattern became as confusing as the sales performance of the brand’s phones. After the Xperia 1, Sony has released the Xperia 8 and the Xperia 5. Right now, there are rumours of an Xperia 3 model coming soon and the rumour is gaining ground rapidly.
The Xperia 3 has now been reportedly spotted on the database of benchmarking website GeekBench. The model isn’t explicitly listed as Xperia 3 but there are clues that point to this being the upcoming Sony flagship. The device is listed as PM-1310. While this may be confusing, this pseudo-name was spotted in this list of supported devices hosted on SonyMobile.com. Also, the Xperia 1 is listed as PM-122X. So, this may just be the OEM ID naming scheme used by Sony.
The purported Xperia 3 is shown to be powered by the motherboard “Kona” which is the code-name for the Snapdragon 865. It also features 12GB of RAM and runs Android 10. The flagship model is also expected to pack a QHD display just like its predecessor and may even have a curved back. Previously, alleged renders of a Snapdragon 865-powered Sony flagship showed a six-camera setup. The phone is expected to be released in 2020.

Realme has confirmed it is making its way into the wireless earbuds market on December 17 with the Realme Buds Air. The price tag of the earbuds which will be available in yellow, black, and white, has now been revealed by Flipkart.
According to screenshots of a listing that seems to have been pulled down now, the Realme Buds Air will be sold for INR 4,999 (~$71) in India. The product listing also revealed the earbuds will ship with a USB Type-C cable which means it has a USB Type-C port.
[envira-gallery id=”294412″]

The Realme Buds Air will connect via Bluetooth 5.0, have Google Assistant, and instant connection with your phone when you open the case. It has also been reported to have a 12mm driver.

It is December already but we still see new smartphone releases. Apart from Xiaomi which just launched the Redmi K30 5G, Vivo and OPPO are also billed to launch new dual-mode 5G smartphones before the year runs out.

The benchmark outfit also clarified that the list consists of Android devices that have at least 1,000 units running Antutu benchmark V8. The scores listed against each model is the average and not just the highest recorded score. This makes the results more representative.
In November, the Asus ROG Phone 2 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage continued to occupy the first place with an average Antutu score of 496,662 points. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 855+ SoC and this surely contributed to its performance. Also, the phone comes with the speedy UFS 3.0 storage, 12GB of RAM and a unique three-layer cooling system that allows the phone to run with high performance for a long time without overheating.
The One Plus 7T Pro 8GB RAM+256GB storage variant ranked second with an average Antutu score of 482,881 points, followed closely by the One Plus 7T Pro 12GB RAM +256GB storage variant that achieved an average score of 482,532 points.
In the fourth spot is the realme X2 Pro 12GB RAM +256GB storage variant with an average AnTuTu score of 476,185 points. The phone is Realme’s first flagship model and indeed, the brand’s most powerful smartphone in terms of hardware performance.
The rest of the top 10 list is made up of the OnePlus 7 8GB RAM +256GB storage variant with an average score of 455,587, Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition 12GB RAM +512GB storage variant with an average score of 452,783, Asus ZenFone 6 2019 6GB RAM +128GB storage variant (average score of 452,776), Samsung Note10+ (SDM855) 12GB RAM +256GB storage variant (average score of 449,659), and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G (Exynos 9825) 12GB RAM+256GB storage variant with an average score of 443,858.
Apart from the entry of the Realme X2 Pro and Redmi K20 Pro Premium Edition into the list, the ranking isn’t very different from that of the previous month (October). You may have noticed that the Mate 30 series didn’t make the cut. That may be as a result of not so many Mate 30 models passing through AnTuTu last month and isn’t in any way related to the performance of the Kirin 990-powered phone.
At the OPPO Inno Day event, the Chinese manufacturer unveiled its 5G CPE. The CPE has a cylindrical design, sort of looks a bit like a nuclear reactor, and has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 modem inside.
OPPO says the 5G CPE has a SIM slot at the bottom for a 5G SIM and can be connected to more than 1000 devices at the same time. The device supports both SA and NSA 5G networks.
The CPE will be marketed to homes and small businesses and is scheduled to launch in Q1 2020, probably during the launch of its flagship phone scheduled to launch at the same time. With the CPE, non-5G devices can get connected to it and experience 5G speeds.

According to a new report, the demand for Lens is expected to rise for many Chinese smartphone manufacturers. This surge in demand is speculated due to many brands such as Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and more seeing high units being shipped in the year 2020.
Huawei, the Chinese tech giant, is reportedly stated to ship approximately 200 million units in 2020 alone. On the other hand, the various other brands like Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi are expected to ship 100 million units at the very least respectively. This new rise in demand is being accredited to more and more smartphone OEMs adopting triple camera setup or even quad-camera modules.

Due to this, a single popular Chinese brand is reported to order anywhere between 400 to 500 million optical lenses in 2020. Furthermore, the smartphone lens module specs are becoming increasingly more complicated and require more sophisticated hardware and software integration. This also makes it harder for OEMs to find appropriate suppliers.
Owing to their capabilities, companies like Largan Precision, Sunny Optical Technology, Ofilm Tech, Q Technology and Truly Opto-Electronics to name a few will be sharing most of these lens orders by Chinese smartphone vendors in 2020. These names include Chinese and Taiwanese based companies as well, that are set to expand their production capacities to meet the upcoming surge in demand.

Additionally, popular brands like Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Apple were the top five smartphone manufacturers in terms of the Chinese smartphone market share in the third quarter of 2019. These companies combined shared 95 percent of all total shipments. Hence, looking at the massive numbers of unit shipments the rise of lens demand is to be expected.
