Market research firm Canalys has revealed new data about the smartphone market share for the European market. In the data, South Korean giant Samsung emerged as the leading brand with around 35.7 percent market share.
Following Samsung is Huawei, which has managed to capture around 22.2 percent market share and US-based Apple got the third spot with around 18.6 percent market share. Xiaomi, the Chinese brand has come fourth with around 10.5 percent market share.
Now, Lu Weibing, an executive of the Chinese company said that the company is now aiming to take on the likes of Samsung and Apple to get a bigger market share in the European market.
For the third quarter of this year, i.e. Q3 2019, Xiaomi capture 10.5 percent of the European market, representing growth of 73 percent with shipments of 5.5 million smartphone units.
In comparison, Samsung sold 18.7 million units while Huawei and Apple 11.6 million and 9.8 million phones in the third quarter of this year. HMD Global, the company behind Nokia-branded smartphones, is ranked third in the market with 1.8 percent share and shipments of over 900,000 units.
Xiaomi has been growing rapidly in several markets, including India. As per the Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi is dominating the Indian online smartphone market with a market share of around 38 percent while Realme is the second brand with a growth of 4.5 times compared to same period last year.
In the online sales market in India, Samsung comes third, thanks to the South Korean company’s online-exclusive Galaxy M-series which is now being made available in the offline market as well. Vivo and OnePlus have grabbed the fourth and fifth position while Vivo is ranked first when it comes to low-end segment.
Realme smartphone brand was introduced in India last year and it arrived in China this year. Even though Realme is a relatively new brand compared to rivals, it has gained a lot of popularity in a short span of time. The recently launched Realme X2 Pro flagship phone has gained good popularity and the company is also working on to launch its 5G phone in China since the past few months. Realme had recently confirmed that it will be among the first manufacturers to use Qualcomm’s new dual-mode 5G chipset. It appears that the Realme’s first 5G phone’s arrival is close at hand as Realme China CMO Xu Qi has revealed some key details on it. He revealed that the company’s first 5G smartphone will be arriving as Realme X50 5G He stressed that with the new 5G lineup, Realme dares to break the conventional norms of technology.
Xu Qi further confirmed that the X50 5G will support both NSA and SA 5G networks. The teaser image released by him reveals a dual punch-hole setup housing the two front cameras. It appears quite similar to the Redmi K30 5G phone that is scheduled to launch in China next month. Qi further revealed that the device is branded True X50, and explained the reason behind the nomenclature. While the X denotes Realme’s maiden lineup that offers users a leapfrog experience, 5 stands for 5G connectivity, while 0 represents Realme’s open 5G leap year.
None of the technical specifications of the X50 5G are currently known. Considering the recent teasers, it is possible that Realme might launch the smartphone in China by the end of December. Qualcomm will officially reveal its dual-mode flagship SoC between December 3 and 5 at the Snapdragon Tech Summit. It could be debuting as Snapdragon 865 chipset. Realme is expected to launch the X50 5G shortly after the event.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 could be the first dual-mode chipset designed for mid-range smartphones. Reports that surfaced earlier this year had claimed that Realme could use an SD700-series SoC to power the X50. Things are adding up as the launch date approaches, and it is likely that Realme plans to use the SD735 under the hood of the X50 5G. Rumors further suggest that Realme could also be working on an X50 Pro, featuring the flagship SD865 SoC. However, readers are advised to digest this information with a pinch of salt, as there has been no official confirmation on the subject as of yet.
Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has scheduled a launch event in China tomorrow, i.e. on 26th November where the company will be launching its much-anticipated Honor V30 and V30 Pro smartphones.
Ahead of the official launch, the company has been teasing some major features of the smartphone. Today, Honor has revealed another major highlight of the smartphone through a teaser video.
The company has revealed that the Honor V30 will come with RYYB filter matrix for the camera sensor. The video shows Red, Yellow, and Blue colors and at the end, the writeup reads: “Light and shadow matrix charm is not only seen.”
This indicates that the phone will come with RYYB filter, which is similar to the camera setup seen on the Huawei P30 and Mate 30 series devices. The feature enables camera sensor to get more light which results in impressive low-light performance.
Previous leaks have revealed that the Honor V30 and V30 Pro will come equipped with a 6.57-inch IPS LCD display. Honor has revealed the present of a dual selfie camera system that will be made available a pill-shaped cutout on the screen and the display will offer a screen-to-body ratio of 91.46 percent.
Under the hood, both the devices will come powered by the company’s own Kirin 990 5G chipset that will bring support SA (Standalone) and NSA (Non-Standalone) dual-mode 5G connectivity. Its noteworthy that the Honor V30 series will be the first 5G smartphones from the company.
As per the reports, the Honor V30 may come in variants like 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. On the other hand, the Pro model could be coming to China in variants like 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage which has already been benchmarked on AnTuTu with an impressive score.
Coming to the camera department, both the smartphones are expected to feature triple rear-mounted cameras. While the V30 may feature a 40-megapixel Sony IMX600 main lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens and an OIS enabled 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor, the V30 Pro could be featuring the same primary lens and telephoto lens along with an OIS assisted 12-megapixel lens for videography. We expect the phones to be running the latest Android 10 operating system with the company’s own EMUI 10 custom user interface, without support for Google apps and services due to the US ban. The Honor V30 may come with a 4,200mAh battery and V30 Pro could be packed with a slightly smaller 4,100mAh battery.
However, as per the reports, the V30 could be coming with 40W fast charging whereas the V30 Pro may arrive with 40W rapid charging, 27W fast charging and 7.5W reverse wireless charging technology.
Interestingly, both the phones are expected to feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader and will also come with some sort of liquid cooling technology. As for the color options, leaks indicate that the V30 and V30 Pro could be available in colors like Icelandic Fantasy, Magic Night Star River, Charm Star Blue and Twilight Orange.
Vivo will be debuting the Vivo X30 series of 5G smartphones in December. The lineup is expected to include Vivo X30 5G and Vivo X30 Pro 5G smartphones. The Chinese manufacturer has today released the first video teaser of the Vivo X30 phone. It not only reveals the rear design of the smartphone, but also suggests that it could be bracing a periscope lens for advanced zooming capabilities.
The Vivo X30 teaser video reveals that it will be sporting an impressive gradient colored glass back. The phone is equipped with a vertical camera module at the upper-left corner which seems to be housing three lenses. The fourth lens seems to be separately placed along with an LED flash below it. The video ends by saying that the Vivo X30 series will deliver professional photography experience.
The Vivo X30 will come equipped with a periscope lens. Recently, the phone was spotted during a Chinese reality show which revealed that the X30 will offer up to 60x zoom. Nothing much is known on the specifications of the Vivo X30. However, the Chinese firm has already confirmed that the X30 series will be fueled by Exynos 980 SoC that is integrated with a 5G modem. The said SoC will bring support for SA and NSA dual-mode 5G on the Vivo X30 and X30 Pro.
A new 5G ready Vivo phone that has a model number of V1938T was approved by the 3C authority of China. It revealed that the phone could be shipping with a 33W fast charger. There is a possibility that the V1938T could be a Vivo X30 series phone.
The Vivo X30 and X30 Pro may respectively feature 6.5-inch and 6.89-inch full HD+ displays with under-screen fingerprint reader. Their screens are rumored to support 90Hz refresh rate. The X30 may feature 8 GB of RAM, 4,500mA and 128 GB / 256 GB of storage whereas the X30 Pro may come with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
The Vivo X30 may feature 64-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera system while the Pro edition may house 60-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 12-megapixel. Both phones are expected to come with 32-megapixel selfie snappers and 4,500mAh batteries. The X30 and X30 Pro may arrive with respective starting prices of 3,198 Yuan (~$455) and 3,998 Yuan (~$568) in China.
A few months ago, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi launched the much-anticipated Redmi Note 8 series smartphones in its home market which has now made its way to other markets as well, including India and Europe.
Today, Xiaomi has announced a new color variant for the Redmi Note 8 Pro by sharing a poster on Twitter through its official handle. The company has now introduced Redmi Note 8 Pro in Ocean Blue color option.
When launched, the smartphone was introduced in three color options — Shadow Black, Gamma Green, and Halo White. With this new Ocean Blue color option, the company has now four hues for the device. However, it remains to be seen where Redmi starts selling this new color variant.
The announcement comes just days after the company launched a new 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage variant of the same smartphone in its home country China for a price of 1,899 yuan which roughly converts to $271.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with an IP52 splash resistant body and is equipped with a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch. It supports Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The TUV Rheinland certification for the display ensures that it filters the harmful blue rays.
There’s a MediaTek Helio G90T processor which fuels the smartphone. It is packed with 6GB and 8GB of RAM, depending on the variant you choose and comes in two storage options — 64GB and 128GB. There’s also a dedicated microSD card slot that enables you to further expand the storage capacity on the device.
The quad-camera setup on the back includes an f/1.7 aperture 64-megapixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 as primary lens, an ultrawide lens of 8-megapixel, a 2-megapixel macro lens with 2cm focal length and a depth sensor of 2-megapixel. There’s also a 20-megapixel front-facing camera for taking selfies, housed inside the notch on top of the display.
The smartphone runs Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box with MIUI 10 which comes with enhanced gaming experience, thanks to the Game Turbo 2.0 and HyperEngine by MediaTek. The device is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that carries support for 18W rapid charging technology.
At the Meizu 16T launch event on 23rd October, the company had also announced its HD60 Wireless Bluetooth Headphones. The Meizu HD60, priced at 499 Yuan (approximately $71) were unveiled in two colors — Fog Silver and Tropical Orange.
Last week, the company listed the Meizu HD60 Tropical Orange color variant for sale in the Chinese market and today, it is officially available for purchase through the company’s official online store, JD.com, and Tmall.
The Fog Silver color variant of the Meizu HD60 Bluetooth wireless headphones were made available for purchase in the Chinese market from 28th October, just around a week after the company started taking pre-orders for the same.
At the time of launch, the company said that the new Meizu HD60 Bluetooth headphones has a stainless steel sliding structure which is durable, well-structured, rigid, and is comfortable to wear.
The first layer has a cowhide leather that showcases the texture while the earmuffs are made of protein skin leather which the company says is comfortable even after a pro-longed usage.
It comes with a 40mm bio-diaphragm super-sounding unit and has an independent back cavity which raises the output of the low-frequency sound. The company also said that the medium and high frequency are clear and not harsh.
The headphone also comes with a Hi-Res certification for an immersive sound experience. The headphone also comes with touch-enable control mechanism and has voice assistant support to make the controlling easier. It has Bluetooth 5.0 support and comes with aptX codec. There’s a USB Type-C port and it also has support for wired audio connection.
The company is also offering cVc dual-mode noise reduction technology which ensure that you have a noise-free audio experience. As for the battery life, Meizu is claiming that the headphones can run for around 25 hours on a single charge, which is really impressive.
Gone are the days when music lovers had to rely solely on wired headphones to listen to their favorite soundtracks. The latest technology has enabled us not only to enjoy music on the go but also made several useful features available for a superior listening experience.
On the downside, a top-branded music accessory such as an earphone isn’t necessarily easy on the pocketbook. In other words, getting access to an enhanced listening experience is likely to burn a big hole in your pocket.
As a result, those living on a tight budget end up buying inexpensive alternatives that aren’t crafted to offer an immersive audio experience. it’s a catch-22 situation, which Origem is bent on changing.
Those familiar with music accessories available in the market today are well-versed with Origem, which is a professional earphone brand. As a result of their intense R&D (research and development), Origem has developed its own unique algorithm, which is carefully integrated into the company’s pursuit of delivering unparalleled sound quality.
Earlier this year, Origem officially launched the HS-3, which is the world’s first Bluetooth with HDR function earphones. The feature-rich device adopts a newfangled voice control system for truly hands-free communication. The HS-3 simplifies and expedites tasks such as answering calls when driving, running or even working out in the gym.
To access various other aspects in addition to answering or rejecting incoming calls, all you need to do is to say “Hello, voice Q!” to HS-3. It gives you freedom from the hassle of dealing with a clunky remote control interface and allows you to perform multiple tasks without having to take your phone out of the pocket.
In addition to garnering widespread applause from renowned media such as CNET, Android Police, and BGR, the HS-3 became an instant hit among a lot of consumers. To show its gratitude to customers, Origem has lanched two crazy discounts, which are simply unmissable, especially with Christmas just around the corner.
Dubbed as the Black Friday Madness Spree, the promotion has been split into two sections.
Origem HS-3 Wireless Earbuds Price Drop
As part of the first discount, music lovers will be able to get their hands on the HS-3 wireless earbuds for a considerably lowered price of $59. This is a significant reduction in the earphone’s original asking price of $99. You can choose between three highly appealing color options including Red, Gunmetal and Silver.
Origem HS-3 Buy One Get One For $1
To take advantage of this offer, simply add two pieces of the HS-3 to your shopping cart. The discount will be applied automatically. While you’d pay the regular $99 for one piece, the other piece would set you back just $1.
This offer is valid for all three color options including Red, Gunmetal and silver. Now, that’s an absolute steal!
To make the most out of these discounts, you need to ensure you visit the Origem official website during the activity period, which starts from November 25th and is slated to end on December 1st, 2019. Are you ready?
For this week’s poll, we are pitting the Realme X2 Pro against another flagship phone – the OnePlus 7T.
Both phones share quite a number of features such as the Snapdragon 855+ processor and both screens being AMOLED panels with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, they also have their individual strengths.
For example, Realme X2 Pro packs a slightly bigger battery and its 50W SuperVOOC fast-charge technology is faster than the OnePlus 7T’s Warp Charge 30T. It also has an audio jack, a feature OnePlus has ditched on its phones since 2018. And to top it all, it is more than $100 cheaper than the OnePlus 7T (in India).
The OnePlus 7T, on the other hand, ships with the latest version of Android out of the box compared to the Realme X2 Pro which runs Android Pie and is scheduled to get the Android 10 update later. The OnePlus 7T will also have a longer software support duration. Going by the manufacturer’s tradition of three major software updates, the OnePlus 7T should get updated up until Android 13. There is a very slim chance the Realme X2 Pro will even get Android 12.
These factors will influence the decision of those looking to purchase either of the two devices. Nevertheless, we want to see which device is the preferred one. So take the poll and drop a comment telling us why you are picking one over the other.
The Huawei MatePad Pro launches tomorrow but the leaks are still pouring in. The latest batch of leaks includes a photo of the tablet’s retail box, its screen protector, renders, and specs.
The MatePad Pro will ship in a white box with the device’s name written in gold letterings at the center. The bottom right corner of the box confirms the tablet is powered by the flagship Kirin 990 processor. It also states that the device has Harman Kardon-tuned audio.

Accessory maker, Benks, also gives us a good look at the tablet with the promotional photos of the screen protector made for it. Another image shows a dummy of the tablet and lists some of the specs. Now we know the MatePad Pro will come with a 10.8-inch 2K display, the Kirin 990 processor, quad speakers, a stylus called the M-Pencil, and support for reverse wireless charging.
To clarify, there will be a Kirin 990 and 7250mAh Battery in MatePad Pro. However, Huawei M-Pencil packs 20ms low latency, 6 inbuilt gestures, and recharges in an hour after 10 hours usage. It is 160mm thin and weighs 14g. #huaweinova5t#HuaweiFreeBuds3#Huawei#MatePadPro
The deleted review says the M-Pencil weighs 14 grams, has 6 built-in gestures, 20ms low-latency, lasts 10 hours on a single charge and recharges in 1 hour. The tablet itself has a 7250mAh battery, a little smaller than that of the MediaPad M6 10.8.
In addition to the above, we also have live photos that were taken from an early review that was originally posted on the web but taken down due to violation of the NDA. The images show the MatePad Pro with a keyboard case attached and the M-Pencil in use.

The MatePad Pro will come in four color variants – Gray/Black, White, Vegan Leather Orange, and Forest Green. The last two color variants will use the same vegan leather material used for the Mate 30 Pro 5G. Below are renders of the Vegan Leather Forest Green variant.
IFTTT is one of a kind service that improves the users’ productivity in several ways one can imagine. It can integrate your devices, services, and apps to automate tasks as per your wish. The service is free to use unless you want to use if for your business.
The software service derives its name from the most common ‘If’ jargon from the programming languages. And thus, IFTTT stands for ‘If This Then That’ and is pronounced as ‘gift’ without ‘g’.
As mentioned earlier, IFTTT helps you connect all your services, devices, and apps in such a way they can initiate tasks automatically. These automated tasks are possible due to ‘applets’ which are nothing but a combination of the things mentioned earlier, performing some tasks. You can enable or disable the applets either from the official website or app. Additionally, IFTTT also lets you create an applet of your own, giving you complete freedom.
To use IFTTT, you will need an account that can be created for free from the official website or through the app, which is available for both Android and iOS platforms. After that, browse through the vast catalogue of applets and use the ones you need. The applets can be managed from both the website and the official app.
Now, as we are done with some basic introduction about IFTTT, let us look at some of the best IFTTT applets that can improve your productivity.
Add songs from videos you like to a Spotify playlist
There are times while binge-watching YouTube, you might have randomly stumbled across music videos and even liked it. But then when you want to listen to them again, you will have to go through your vast loved videos playlist on YouTube and search them on Spotify manually.
It is where this applet comes into play and saves you a lot of time by automatically creating a playlist of your YouTube liked music videos on Spotify if the tracks are available.
Automatically change your Twitter profile pic when you update your Facebook photo
This applet will help you sync both your Facebook and Twitter profile pictures. Hence, if you update your profile photo on Facebook, the same will be carried out automatically for your Twitter profile as well without you doing anything.
Automatically post on Twitter when you start streaming on Twitch
If you are a regular Twitch streamer, this applet will help you by letting know your followers on Twitter when you begin streaming by automatically tweeting a post with a link to your live stream. Thus, your followers won’t miss any of your streams if they happen to be more active on Twitter.
Share Your YouTube Videos To Twitter, Pinterest & Facebook Page
If you are a YouTuber, this applet will be handy for you to share your newly posted videos to different social media like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. Hence, you don’t need to spend time manually sharing them everywhere.
You can now easily share your Instagram pictures onTwitter as native images rather than links. However, it only works for single picture posts which is not bad at all.
This applet will automatically share your Instagram videos as a tweet so that you don’t need to do it separately for your Twitter followers. Do note that it is still in the testing phase.
This applet is one of the best which enables you to post a tweet by merely speaking it to Google Assistant. All you have to say is “Ok Google, tweet ‘your tweet here’ “ to perform the task.
If you are a Fitbit user with an iPhone, this applet will be useful for you to automatically sync your Fitbit data with iOS health app on your phone periodically.
Automatically back up your new iOS photos to Google Drive
If you have a device running iOS may it be iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, this applet will automatically back up your photos clicked on those devices to Google Drive.
This applet will do the same task of logging your Uber rides like the above ones, but it is for iOS calendar rather than Google Drive Spreadsheet or Google Calendar.
Use Google Assistant to control the Phillips Hue lights at your place with the help of this applet. You can set various profiles and enable them by saying phrases of your choice.
This applet is the most interesting from the whole list, which lets you set a custom Google Home response. For example, “Who is the best person in the family?” Answer: “Any name here”. It was just a simple example. You can set whatever you want.
Apart from the above list of our best IFTTT applets, you can even create applets by yourself, which will help you fulfil your desired tasks. It will help you to get relieved from some stress in day-to-day life. If you have any recommendation, then do let us know via the comments below.
Huawei will announce the Nova 6 5G on December 5, the same day HMD Global has scheduled for its next Nokia phone launch. However, the Nova 6 may not be the only Huawei phone launching on that day. It may also come along with another phone called the Nova 6 SE whose photo and key specs leaked today.
The leak comes from Huawei Club (@ClubHuawei) and Teme (@RODENT950) on Twitter. Both accounts are known for Huawei and Honor-related leaks.
The Nova 6 SE is the second Huawei phone with the SE suffix in its name. The first is the 2018 Huawei Mate SE which is actually a rebranded Honor 7X. However, Huawei is not the first manufacturer to use the SE suffix. Apple did so first in 2016 when it launched the popular iPhone SE.
The Nova 6 SE doesn’t only borrow part of its name from an Apple phone. Its design (read rear design) is practically an iPhone 11 Pro with an extra camera.
The leaked image shows the Nova 6 SE has a rear camera design similar to that of Apple’s latest phone but with four cameras inside the squircle instead of three. Huawei has also put the LED flash below the camera housing and not together with the cameras.
On the front, the phone has a punch-hole display with the hole positioned at the top left corner. It is most likely an LCD panel as the image shows the Nova 6 SE has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button.
The Nova 6 SE in the image has a gradient pink finish on the rear, a gold frame, and black borders around the display.
A second image reveals some key specs of the phone.
The Nova 6 SE will be powered by the Kirin 810 processor which means it is a mid-range device. However, it will get a flagship feature, and that is 40W SuperCharge wired fast charging. This is the same fast charging technology that the Mate 30 series ships with.
The rest of the specs are unknown but should be pretty interesting. We believe the Nova 6 SE will launch on the same day as the Nova 6 5G but it will not support 5G like its sibling.
It is raining Samsung leaks this week. Just two days ago, 3D renders of the Galaxy A71 were posted online and were followed by those of the Galaxy S11 yesterday. Today, we have 3D renders that give us an early look at the Galaxy S11e.
Once again, the source of the renders is @OnLeaks and he has partnered with Pricebaba this time. The Galaxy S11e will succeed the Galaxy S10e, and it too should be the most affordable version of the series.
The renders show that Samsung will adopt the same design for the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11e. So we are getting a punch-hole display similar to that of the Galaxy Note10. The punch-hole is not the only design change the Galaxy S11e will have. The phone will also get a curved display rather than a flat one like that of the S10e.
Samsung is also going with the same rear camera design as the Galaxy S11. However, rather than five cameras, there are three cameras, one more sensor than that of its predecessor, along with the LED flash inside the housing.
Also, the Galaxy S11e will ditch the side-mounted fingerprint scanner of the Galaxy S10e for an in-display sensor when it arrives next year.
The bottom of the phone is home to a USB Type-C port and it is flanked on the left by the primary microphone and on the right by the speaker grille. The right side of the device houses the volume and power buttons. OnLeaks says the device is missing a SIM tray slot in the renders because he’s not sure where it will be. However, based on the S10e, the SIM tray will most likely remain at the top.

The Galaxy S11e will have a display size between 6.2 and 6.3-inches. Its dimensions are given as 151.7 x 69.1 x 9.1 millimeters (adding the camera bump). The phone should also come with a Snapdragon 865 processor (or Samsung’s Exynos flagship SoC). There will be 6GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The phone is also expected to have a larger battery capacity (up to 4000mAh) and it should run OneUi 2.0 based on Android 10 out of the box.
Stability is the primary feature of OnePlus’s OxygenOS. OnePlus always tend to provide stable and meaningful features to its smartphone users. There’s a whole lot of OnePlus Apps that are solely present for OnePlus smartphones on the Play Store. However, despite enormous efforts from OnePlus developers to provide the new experiences, the users are missing Google Feed on OnePlus Launcher. In today’s writeup, we will guide you on how to get Google Feed feature on OnePlus Launcher.
Google Feed, aka Discover tab, is now homepage for Google mobile app. It showcases news topics, videos, and podcasts based on your personal searches and interests. It is even denoted as a personalized newsfeed that shows what matters to you. Google Feed Magisk Module can show you the weather information and some other useful information. It replaced Google Now a few years ago and offered a whole new service with improved features.
Unlike the Pixel devices, the new Google Feed is not available on the swipe for OnePlus devices. The user either needs to use Nova Launcher or can get the new modded OnePlus launcher for Google Feed. Root access is necessary for modded OnePlus Launcher to work flawlessly without any issue.

Vivo announced the Vivo S1 Pro in the Philippines earlier this week. The phone is set to launch in other Asian markets like Indonesia and India in the coming days. However, the phone also made it to Russia today but under a different name. The Vivo S1 Pro was launched as the Vivo V17 in Russia with a starting price tag of 22,990 Russian Rubles which roughly comes to around $360.
The Vivo V17 naming isn’t really surprising for the Russian market. If you recall, the Vivo S1 was rebranded as the Vivo V17 Neo in Russia when it launched back in August 2019. So it makes sense why the S1 Pro was launched as the vanilla V17 in the same market this week.
The Vivo V17 shares the exact same features as the S1 Pro. So you get a Snapdragon 665 processor inside with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. The phone comes with a 6.38-inch 1080 x 2340 pixels AMOLED display, which is exactly the same panel as the V17 Neo. Other features include NFC, a large 4500mAh battery and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The camera is one of the highlights of the Vivo V17, featuring quad-cameras at the back. The setup consists of a 48MP primary camera with an 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth shooter. Upfront, you have a massive 32MP sensor for selfies.
Interestingly, if you are pre-ordering the Vivo V17 in Russia before December 5, you will get a Vivo Y11 smartphone for free. There are two colors up for grabs: Cloudy Blue and Blue Fog.
Each time a new potential best-buy gets released, we usually make a specs comparison with the other hottest devices from the concurrence in the same price range. Today is the turn of the Vivo S1 Pro: several days after the launch, we think it is having a lot of attention because of its very high value for money, so much that it deserves to be compared to other potential best-sellers of this year. We decided to compare it to the Redmi Note 8 and the Realme 5 Pro for pretty obvious reasons: if you do not want to speed more than €200, they are among the best options you can choose if you need high performance and well-balanced specs sheet.

Design
Something you can not easily find on specs sheets is the info regarding the design. When it comes to affordable phones, a lot of manufacturers decide to opt for cheap materials in order to cut costs. That is the case of the Realme 5 Pro which is made out of plastic. However, it is splash resistant, unlike Vivo S1 Pro and Redmi Note 8. But with those devices, you get a premium glass design and even a very original look in the case of Vivo S1 Pro. On the other hand, you should consider that, besides being splash resistant, Realme 5 Pro is more compact than Redmi Note 8, even though it comes with the same display size (thanks to a higher screen-to-body ratio).
Display
On the display side, Vivo S1 Pro is at a higher level. Besides having a wider panel, it features the Super AMOLED technology delivering more vibrant colors and deeper blacks. Further, it integrates an in-display fingerprint scanner. The whole trio has Full HD+ displays, but Realme 5 Pro and Redmi Note 8 have IPS LCD panels. Redmi Note 8 has a more resistant front panel thanks to the amazing Gorilla Glass 5 protection (which also covers the glass rear side).
Specs & Software
Realme 5 Pro is the most performing smartphone out there you can find for less than €200. It is powered by the awesome Snapdragon 712 chipset, an upgrade of the Snapdragon 710 running at a max frequency of 2.3 GHz. It even has up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage you can furtherly expand with a micro SD. Both Redmi Note 8 and Vivo S1 Pro feature a lower-end Snapdragon 665 SoC and, while the Vivo S1 Pro has an 8/128 GB, Redmi Note 8 does not exist with 8 GB of RAM. Android 9 Pie is preinstalled and customized by Color OS, Funtouch OS and MIUI depending on the phone.
Camera
The rear camera department of these handsets is exactly the same for all of them. They boast a main 48 MP camera, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor, a 2 MP dedicated macro camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. However, at the moment, the MIUI camera algorithm seems to manage the image quality in a better way. On the other hand, Vivo S1 Pro has a better front camera: the only with a 32 MP resolution.
Battery
Vivo S1 Pro is equipped with a bigger 4500 mAh battery and it lasts more on a single charge than both Realme 5 Pro and Redmi Note 8 coming with 4035 and 4000 mAh batteries, respectively.
Price
Vivo S1 Pro’s price starts from about €287/$316, Redmi Note 8 from less than €130/$143, and Realme 5 Pro from less than €180/$200. Overall, Vivo S1 Pro wins the comparison due to a better selfie camera, bigger battery, AMOLED display and more. Realme 5 Pro is the one with the highest performance, while Redmi Note 8 has a higher value for money than both.
OnePlus’ customer data has been breached, yet again. The smartphone maker made an announcement a few hours back stating that some of its customer’s information like “name, contact number, email, and shipping address within certain orders” may have been exposed by the most recent data breach. However, information like payment information, passwords and accounts are safe.
OnePlus hasn’t given out an exact number of affected users, however, the company said that it has already sent out emails to the users whose data has been breached. If you were one of the affected customers, you should have received a mail similar to this sometime in the past couple of days. If you haven’t got an email from the company, then your data wasn’t breached.
The official OnePlus website seems to be the point of the breach but the company assured that they have thoroughly inspected the website to ensure there are no similar security flaws. The company also adds that affected users ‘may receive spam and phishing emails as a result of this incident’.
This isn’t the first time OnePlus had a security breach. Last year, in January, credit card information of nearly 40,000 OnePlus customers was breached through the company’s OnePlus.net website. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed the scale of this particular breach.
OnePlus 7T is its most recent flagship
Security breaches are never good for a company. However, the company assures that it will partner “with a world-renowned security platform next month, and will launch an official bug bounty program by the end of December”. This is definitely the right way moving forward, however, OnePlus should have probably done this immediately after the first breach to avoid a second incident.
Honor’s upcoming flagship smartphone for 2019 is the Honor V30 and V30 Pro 5G. We had a clue that the new flagship models were going to feature Hisilicon’s best chipset, but today, the company has officially confirmed that the Honor V30 will feature its flagship-grade Kirin 990 5G processor. This also confirms them to be the first 5G smartphones from the brand.
Given its high-end placement, the Honor V30 and V30 Pro 5G models are expected to be expensive as well. According to a recent leak on Weibo, the V30 could be priced at 4999 yuan ($710). This would put it in direct competition to the Mate 30 models which also start at the same price in China.
We don’t know much about this Matrix Camera, but Huawei had trademarked two words, Camera Matrix, and Cine Lens, back in July 2019. The Cine camera on Mate 30 Pro enabled ultrawide videos in 4K at 60 frames per second and even 7680fps slow-motion recording. So if they are similar technologies, the Matrix camera could be a really exciting camera feature. Honor has already teased that the V30 will have powerful videography features like Movie Lens, but we expect a lot more features to be revealed at launch.
The Mi MIX 3 5G is Xiaomi’s first 5G phone. It was released back at the 2019 Mobile World Congress in February with a more powerful processor and a bigger battery than the 4G model announced in 2018.
Mi Mix 3 5G was Xiaomi’s first 5G phone
TENAA has put up a listing of the phone on its database and it reveals the phone may be getting a different RAM and storage variant.
When it launched in February, the phone was announced in a single configuration with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. However, the TENAA listing mentions two different configurations – a 6GB + 128GB version and an 8GB RAM +256GB version.
The listing also mentions the phone runs Android 10, the latest version of Android. Save for these differences, the rest of the specs are the same.
The Mi MIX 3 5G (M1810E5GG) has a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 2340 x 1080 resolution. The phone has a slider design, so there is no notch and neither is there a punch-hole. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 processor.
The device has a 24MP camera in front and it is paired with a 2MP selfie camera while the rear is home to two 12MP sensors. Other features are a 3800mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4+ and 10W wireless charging, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, NFC, and a dedicated AI assistant button.
We don’t know when Xiaomi will announce these new variants but there is a chance they may be exclusive to China.
What comes after foldable smartphones? Visionox believes it’ll be rollable smartphones that’ll take the spotlight after the foldable craze. And we have got a glimpse of how it could look like at the recent World Conference in the Display Industry. At the three-day event held in Hefei, Anhui Province of China, Visionox showcased its rollable flexible AMOLED panel alongside a couple of other interesting products like a foldable clamshell smartphone.
Visionox Rollable AMOLED display
Visionox said that the rollable display design will greatly reduce the area taken up by the display, even less than foldables. The Visionox rollable display demoed at the event had a dynamic curl radius of 7mm and features on-cell touch display integration technology and self-lamination. However, it’s clear that this technology will still take some time before it matures. The demo unit at the event was still in the form of the raw display and not installed on a smartphone. It’s worth adding that companies like BOE and LG Display have demoed rollable panels in the past.
Apart from the rollable display, Visionox also demoed an interesting clamshell foldable smartphone. This was even more exciting because it was in the form of an actual smartphone that could be folded in half at the center. Unlike the Motorola Razr, this one looked like a regular Android smartphone with the only exception that it could be folded into half at the center.
Visionox Foldable clamshell
The foldable clamshell smartphone features a regular 6.47-inch flexible AMOLED display with on-cell technology. Visionox adds that there won’t be a crease at the center when unfolded. The phone comes with a waterdrop notch on top and transforms into a 13.3mm thick phone in its folded form factor.
In addition to these two next-generation display products, Visionox also showcased a truly bezel-less smartphone. The phone features a tiny 1.5mm bezel at the bottom and 0.7mm bezels on the other three sides. The screen to body ratio is as high as 96.57%.
The currently available Y-series Vivo phones in China include Vivo Y3, Vivo Y5s and Vivo Y7s. The Chinese manufacturer is expected to soon announce the Vivo Y9s as the next Y-series phone for China. The name of the device has surfaced through its China Telecom listing. The specs of the phone are exact with the Vivo S1 Pro that was recently released in Southeast Asian markets. Hence, it appears that the Vivo Y9s will sell as the rebranded version of the Vivo S1 Pro in China.
Vivo Y9s Release Date and Pricing
The Vivo Y9s that has a model number of Vivo V1945A is listed on China Telecom with a price tag of 2,198 Yuan. The handset may carry a different pricing once it goes official. The listing states that the Vivo Y9s will release in the Chinese market tomorrow (Nov. 24). Glazed Black, Nebula Blue and Magic Clear Sky are the three color editions of the phone.
The Vivo Y9s has a 6.38-inch AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. It offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display of the phone is integrated with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The Snapdragon 665 chipset is the driving force of the Vivo Y9s. The SoC is coupled with 8 GB of RAM. The native storage of the phone is 128 GB. There is a microSD card slot on the device for additional storage. The smartphone boots to Android 9 Pie OS. Like the recent Vivo phones, the Vivo Y9s is expected to come with FunTouch OS 9.2 UI.
The Vivo Y9s has a diamond-shaped camera module on its back along with an LED flash. It consists of 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad cameras. The front notch of the device has a 32-megapixel selfie snapper. The handset features a 4,390mAh minimum capacity battery. Its typical capacity is 4,500mAh battery. The phone carries support for 18W fast charging through USB-C. The device measures 159.25 x 75.19 x 8.68mm and it weighs 186.7 grams.
