Huawei Mate 80 RS tipped to feature dual-layer OLED, titanium frame

According to well-known leaker Digital Chat Station, Huawei’s upcoming Mate 80 RS might pack a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED screen, the same display tech that debuted on last year’s Mate 70 RS.

Dual-layer OLED is exactly what it sounds like. It has two light-emitting OLED layers stacked on top of each other. This setup offers higher brightness, lower power consumption, and a longer screen life compared to traditional single-layer OLED panels.

huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs

The only drawback is that it’s expensive to produce. Even Apple is rumored to be looking into the technology for future iPhones, which says a lot about its potential.

Huawei Mate 80 RS with ceramic back

Beyond the screen, Huawei seems to be going all-in on premium materials. The leak mentions that the engineering prototype of Mate 80 RS has a titanium alloy middle frame. Last year’s Mate 70 RS introduced a high-gloss titanium basalt structure, and it seems Huawei wants to keep that tradition alive with even better durability.

On the back, Huawei is reportedly going for a ceramic texture finish. This doesn’t mean it’s actual ceramic, but rather a special type of glass that mimics the smooth, jade-like feel of ceramic while being lighter.

Given how the RS models usually share hardware DNA with the Pro variants, the Mate 80 RS could feature the same camera setup as the Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro+.

We’re talking about a 50MP shooter with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, roughly the same size as the one on Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro. That’s smaller than the massive 1-inch sensor found on Huawei’s Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra, but it’s built on a 22nm process and features a 1.2μm pixel size.

The Huawei Mate 80 series is rumored to launch sometime in October 2025.

Google Pixel 10 Pro XL promo images reveal complete design before launch

With Google’s next big hardware showcase just weeks away, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is already in the news. A new leak has given us our clearest look yet at the company’s upcoming flagship, showing off its design in full.

The images, shared by WinFuture, reveal the Pixel 10 Pro XL in two finishes — Moonstone and Obsidian. At first glance, the phone doesn’t stray far from last year’s Pixel 9 Pro XL or the smaller Pixel 10 Pro, keeping the pill-shaped triple camera bar with its flash and temperature sensor. The frame is polished aluminum, and the back and front are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. On the right-hand side sit the power and volume buttons, this time with a glossy touch to match the premium feel.

The front features a large 6.8-inch OLED display, expected to support a 120Hz refresh rate and hit up to 3,000 nits at peak brightness — a notable bump for outdoor visibility. While these pictures don’t confirm internal changes, they do show Google sticking to a sleek, polished design language.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL is set to run on Google’s new Tensor G5 processor, designed to deliver better performance and efficiency while boosting Gemini capabilities. Camera hardware is expected to remain almost the same as its predecessor — a 50MP (1/1.31″) main sensor, 48MP ultrawide, and 48MP telephoto (1/2.55″) — but with software tweaks for better low-light shots.

Battery capacity has been bumped slightly to 5,200mAh (up from 5060mAh), paired with 30W wired charging. With the leaks now out, the only surprises left might be in the software and AI features Google has kept under wraps.

The best AirPods Pro 2 alternatives

Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 are still among the best wireless earbuds you can buy in 2025. They’re small, powerful, and packed with features. But they’re not the only option. If you look around, other wireless earbuds sound great, offer strong noise cancellation, and even come with unique features that Apple’s buds don’t have.

Below, we’ve rounded up the best AirPods Pro 2 alternatives, starting with the models that scored highest in those tests, followed by a strong value pick.

1. JBL Tour Pro 3

JBL Tour Pro 3
JBL Tour Pro 3

The JBL Tour Pro 3 is the type of earbuds that quietly outperform expectations. The earbuds deliver up to 8 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation (ANC) enabled and up to 44 hours of runtime with the charging case.

They have adaptive ANC that automatically adjusts to your surroundings, plus a Transparency Mode for when you want to hear what’s going on around you. They also support immersive surround sound with head tracking, which can make movies and certain music tracks feel more lifelike.

The real standout here is the charging case. It has a small touch display that lets you control almost all the features you’d normally need the JBL Headphones app for. You can change settings, toggle ANC, or check battery life without pulling out your phone.

The case also supports Auracast, a new wireless sharing technology. You can also connect it to a laptop or other device via the included AUX cable and share the audio with other compatible headphones, even if they’re not from JBL.

2. Sony WF-1000XM5

Sony WF-1000XM5

Sony has a long history of making great headphones, and the WF-1000XM5 is no exception. Their adaptive noise cancellation automatically changes based on your environment, and they’re especially good at blocking high-frequency noise, something many earbuds struggle with.

There’s also a transparency mode for hearing your surroundings, and dynamic head tracking, which moves the soundstage as you move your head for a more natural listening experience.

Sony says the XM5 can last 8 hours with ANC on and up to 12 hours of noise cancellation off. They’re also IPX4 splash resistant, which is enough for workouts and light rain.

3. Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

Bose is known for noise cancellation, and the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds could arguably be the company’s best wireless earbuds yet. They fit comfortably, feel premium, and support Bluetooth 5.3 for faster, more stable connections.

These are Bose’s first earbuds to feature Immersive Audio, the brand’s take on spatial sound. In the Bose Music app, you can tweak noise cancellation through multiple presets, and the ANC performance is still among the very best, better than the AirPods Pro 2 in some situations. It even adjusts automatically so sudden loud noises don’t overpower your music.

The sound is balanced and neutral, with plenty of fine detail. Call quality is solid as well. However, they don’t support higher-quality Bluetooth codecs like LDAC or aptX HD, and they lack both wireless charging and Bluetooth multipoint. But if your priority is sound quality and class-leading ANC, these could be worth it.

4. Beats Powerbeats Pro 2

Apple PowerBeats Pro 2

If you want AirPods-like convenience with a design built for workouts, the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 are worth a look. They offer all of Apple’s software perks, including Find My support, iCloud device switching, and one-touch iOS pairing, but also have a dedicated Android app for quick pairing and customization.

Their new ear hook design makes them more stable during exercise, and the controls, while sensitive when inserting the buds, are generally easy to use thanks to both a physical button and a volume rocker.

The sound leans toward Beats’ signature punchy bass and crisp treble, but there’s still good detail. They also have solid ANC and a natural-sounding transparency mode. There’s also a built-in heartbeat monitor, which might not be a selling feature for an earbud, but you can use it if you want to.

5. Which One Should You Buy?

If you want something that competes directly with the AirPods Pro 2, the Sony WF-1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are the closest in overall sound and ANC quality. Sony’s pair wins for longer battery life and multipoint connectivity, while Bose still leads in pure noise cancellation performance.

If you want something different, the JBL Tour Pro 3 stands out for its charging case with a built-in display and sharing features, plus long battery life. And for workouts, the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 are hard to beat thanks to their secure fit and mix of Apple and Android compatibility.

In short, there’s no single “best” AirPods alternative for everyone. It depends on whether you value noise cancellation, battery life, workout fit, or smart features.

ASUS ROG Debuts First 4K WOLED Gaming Monitors with 480Hz Dual-Mode Support

ASUS has launched two new 4K WOLED gaming monitors, the Strix XG32UCWMG and XG32UCWG. These 32-inch displays offer 4K resolution (3840 x 2160), with refresh rates of 240Hz for the XG32UCWMG and 165Hz for the XG32UCWG. The monitors have a 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time, ensuring smooth gaming performance.

The monitors come with TrueBlack Glossy film, which reduces ambient reflections by 38% compared to older WOLED panels. This film helps maintain deep black hues in various lighting environments, from office lights to studio spotlights. The Clear Pixel Edge technology also ensures that fine details, like text and lines, appear sharp.

Both monitors feature a dual-mode setting. With a simple toggle, you can switch to FHD mode, offering 480Hz on the XG32UCWMG and 330Hz on the XG32UCWG. These modes, combined with Extreme Low Motion Blur and Anti-Flicker technologies, keep the image clear even during fast-moving action in games.

To protect against burn-in, both monitors include the OLED Care Pro suite, which refreshes pixels and shifts images occasionally. The Neo Proximity sensor also detects when you’re away from the screen and dims it to prevent burn-in, then restores brightness when you return. The monitors come with a three-year warranty to cover burn-in issues.

The monitors have an ultracompact stand that saves desk space and allows for tilt, swivel, and height adjustments. They also include DisplayWidget Center software for easy access to settings like picture modes and firmware updates. Auto KVM lets you switch between devices using a single keyboard and mouse. With connectivity options like HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C, these monitors are ready for any setup.

The pricing and availability details of the ROG Strix OLED XG32U series monitors are still under wraps.

Nothing Phone (3) Gets Camera, Glyph, and System Improvements in Latest Update

Nothing has started rolling out the OS V3.5-250801-1847 update for the Nothing Phone (3). The rollout is staggered, so it may take some time before all users receive it. This approach helps the company track performance and address any issues that appear.

Glyph Interface

A Glyph Matrix-styled photo will now be saved when using the Glyph Mirror toy. The update fixes a bug that changed ringtones to Classic mode in Generative mode and another that caused incorrect ringtone selection after transferring phone data. A Glyph Interface issue affecting Telegram call responses has also been resolved.

Camera

The update adds AI SuperRes Zoom support between 20x and 30x. Shutter response after continuous shots has been improved, and autofocus and colour accuracy have been optimised.

General Improvements and Fixes

The default search engine option now correctly appears in the App drawer and Search settings. An issue that caused the second character to disappear in Universal Search has been fixed. The Essential Notification border UI has been improved. Cloned WhatsApp apps can now open PDF files.

Snapchat now runs with a smoother refresh rate. Stuttering during 4K 60FPS video playback in the Gallery has been fixed. Adaptive Brightness now transitions more smoothly. Charging disconnections when using certain third-party chargers have been resolved. Overall system stability and copywriting have been improved.

Update Notes

After installing the update, the device may heat up and consume more power for a short period. It will return to normal once the process is complete.

Galaxy S26 Edge thickness revealed, and it’s impressive

Samsung is working on the successor to the 5.8mm Galaxy S25 Edge, and the news is that it will be even slimmer than its predecessor. Plus, it includes a bigger battery. Unlike the S25 Edge, its successor will launch alongside the alleged standard “Galaxy S26 Pro” and S26 Ultra, replacing the Plus model.

Galaxy S25 Edge

The latest news comes from reliable tipster Ice Universe, according to whom the Galaxy S26 Edge measures just 5.5mm in thickness. He claims the battery capacity is 4,200mAh. Notably, battery capacity is an area where we’ve already seen some contradictory leaks.

According to a recent one from Weibo tipster Setsuna Digital, the S26 Edge packs a 4,400mAh battery—same as the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is both impressive and questionable, as the Fold 7 achieves that capacity using two separate battery units under a much larger form factor, which the upcoming Edge model doesn’t have. Also, Samsung isn’t expected to shift to silicon-carbon battery tech anytime soon, as it’s reportedly focusing on a new and revolutionary solid-state battery technology—none of which is expected to make it to the S26 Edge.

So, will it be a slightly smaller 4,200mAh battery pack inside the S26 Edge? A 300mAh boost within a 0.3mm slimmer body is still impressive. That said, it will be interesting to see how Samsung makes up for the 4,900mAh capacity of the S25 Plus, which it’s going to replace.

While none of the information above is official, more leaks and rumors are likely to emerge as we inch closer to the launch—offering a clearer idea of what to expect. So stick around.

Here’s how fast S26 Ultra charges with its upgraded 60W brick

Samsung has long stuck with 45W charging in the name of safer charging, while Chinese smartphone makers have normalized 120W power intake. Fortunately, Samsung finally seems to recognize the need to speed things up and reduce downtime.

Speaking of numbers, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to support 60W fast charging. But to be honest, the actual charging time largely depends on how the charging circuit is tuned. I’ve seen phones with 33W charging outperform those rated above 40W in real-world use. In Samsung’s case, the difference between its 25W and 45W chargers hasn’t been massive—because they’re tuned to behave similarly.

According to tipster Ice Universe, the Galaxy S26 Ultra reaches 75%–80% in just half an hour. “Samsung users have finally made it,” the tipster noted. But here’s where it gets interesting: a charging test video on YouTube shows the Galaxy S25 Ultra reaching 73% charge in the same time—31 minutes. That model supports 45W charging, and the video used Samsung’s official charger. So… is there really a big difference between the current 45W and this rumored 60W charging?

Judging from the tipster’s numbers, this 60W charging upgrade feels similar to what the 45W charger brought over the 25W—more of an iterative step than a game-changing leap. It’s a welcome improvement, but not necessarily one that makes you feel the need to upgrade.

In fact, the tipster’s comment that “Samsung users have finally made it” (complete with a sarcastic emoji) seems to highlight just how modest the gain actually is. Because at the end of the day, it’s the charging time that matters—not the number printed on the power brick.

The projectors come factory-calibrated for white balance, which is useful for multiscreen setups and edge blending. Features like 2D keystone correction and Corner Fit help align images on uneven or angled surfaces.

The laser light source lasts up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode. The projectors are IP6X certified to prevent dust damage, and optional dust filter housings are available.

Here’s when Samsung will push the stable One UI 8 update

Samsung One UI 8 stable update rollout

The One UI 8 software, based on Android 16, debuted earlier this month with the latest foldable phones, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Fortunately, things have been a lot quicker this time, as the brand has already opened One UI 8 beta access for multiple devices, and it should also be preparing for a stable rollout to older Galaxy devices very soon.

One UI 8 update is coming soon to Galaxy phones and tablets

After announcing the One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series in May, the brand has recently announced its expansion to more devices along with the release timeline. Next week, the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 users will be able to install One UI 8 beta.

More Galaxy devices will join the One UI 8 beta program in September, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and several Galaxy A-series models (see the complete list here). Following the One UI 8 beta release to these eligible devices, Samsung will kick off the stable rollout, likely starting with the Galaxy S25 series in late September.

As always, the Galaxy S-series and Z-series models will be among the first phones to receive the One UI 8 update, followed by the mid-range Galaxy A-series, and then gradually rolling it out to the remaining devices. Samsung will likely upgrade all eligible devices to One UI 8 before the end of this year.

After a frustratingly slow rollout of One UI 7, Samsung’s making a quick turnaround with One UI 8, and a big reason is the adoption of Google’s trunk-based development. This helped Google build Android 16 faster, and as a result, it was released months ahead of its usual release timeline. Samsung was also able to release One UI 8 faster using trunk-based development. In fact, that’s also changing how Samsung releases major software.

According to recent reports, Samsung will release major One UI software with its new Galaxy Z series foldable phones in the middle of the year, while the new Galaxy S-series phones will release with One UI x.5 software featuring notable improvements. In fact, this change is already live, as the latest foldables, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7, and Fold 7 SE, were released with One UI 8, and the upcoming Galaxy S26 series is said to debut in early 2026 with One UI 8.5.

What’s new in One UI 8?

One UI 8 doesn’t bring major changes like One UI 7, but still, there are many useful additions and improvements to look forward to. Here are the major highlights of One UI 8.

1. Enhanced productivity and multitasking

One UI 8 brings a dedicated full-screen layout for Quick Share. Tapping on the icon in the Quick Settings panel triggers the “Ready to receive” action. There’s also a “Send” tab that allows you to send files without needing to use a different app.

The split screen has become more useful with the latest changes. You can now stretch one app to as much as you want, previously limited to around 70% of the screen. When you tap the minimized app, it takes up the larger space, and the other app gets minimized.

Samsung Dex also gets nice upgrades. It now allows users to change the screen resolution. The display rotation can also be tweaked, which is particularly helpful when you want to use a monitor vertically.

2. Personalization and automation

The update brings new dynamic live wallpapers that change the colors based on the time. They are usually bright and colorful during the day and gradually transition to a darker theme as the sun sets. Although not a major thing, it’s a nice quality-of-life improvement.

One UI 7 introduced significant changes to modes and routines, and the new version builds upon that. It brings new routines, such as Cold weather alert, Morning briefing, and Umbrella reminder.

The latest changes make it easier to customize a Profile Card by displaying the full layout while making changes.

3. Redesigned and smarter apps

One UI 8 introduces notable enhancements to various apps, making them more useful, intuitive, and visually appealing. Take the Gallery app, for example: it automatically sorts screenshots into categories such as Boarding passes, Coupons, Shopping, and Locations for quicker access.

The downloaded files in the My Files app now allow you to filter files based on the app from which they were downloaded. There are also some UI changes. The categories are now compact, making room for more content on the screen. The Weather app has also been updated with smoother animations and features hyper-realistic backgrounds.

The Reminder app receives a fresh, modern look, with categories displayed prominently at the top of the home screen in rounded boxes. The app now suggests templates or past reminders as you type, speeding up the process. There’s also a new toolbar that lets you add checkmarks, media, date, location, and assign reminders to categories directly from the input area.

The Calendar app isn’t left out, as it also gets several meaningful upgrades. It now features a cleaner, modern look with deeper black backgrounds for improved eye comfort. It’s now integrated with the Reminders app, and as a result, you can now create reminders directly from the Calendar app. This simplifies task and schedule management.

Another helpful feature is that you can easily reschedule reminders in the Calendar app by dragging and dropping them to new dates.

4. Privacy and accessibility

The Secure Folder gets more secure in One UI 8 with the latest features. You can now assign a different fingerprint to access the Secure Folder. You can also hide other apps within for additional protection. One UI 8 allows users to completely hide Secure Folder, which means it won’t show any notifications or appear in app suggestions.

One UI 8 also introduces several accessibility improvements, including the ability to zoom the screen with buttons, control mouse actions with a keyboard, magnify the on-screen keyboard, and pair Bluetooth hearing aids directly from the Accessibility settings.

5. Other notable improvements

The Camera app now lets you customize the swipe-down/swipe-up action to open the camera controls; previously, it was limited to camera switching. One UI 8 also makes it easier to connect multiple Bluetooth audio devices by allowing other users to scan the QR code to join the audio.

Users can now control all alarms in a group directly from a Home screen widget. Also, they can add existing alarms to groups. The Samsung Health app gets a nice addition that lets you challenge friends to fitness goals. The app also reminds you to have good, provided that you have set it up already.
