Lenovo A6 Note’s Flipkart product page reveals more details

Lenovo is set to announce a trio of phones for the Indian market on September 5. The phones are the Lenovo Z6 Pro, the Lenovo K10 Note, and the Lenovo A6 Note. Ahead of the release, Flipkart has put up a product page for the A6 Note which reveals key details about the phone.

Lenovo A6 Note

We already know what the Lenovo A6 Note looks like, thanks to press renders shared by Lenovo’s own Vice President a few weeks ago. The phone will come in blue and black variants, with the latter having gold accents around the rear camera housing and LED flash.

The Lenovo A6 Note will have a 6.09-inch dewdrop display with an 88% screen-to-body ratio. The display has an HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. There is an Helio P22 octa-core processor under the hood. While the page doesn’t reveal the RAM, Geekbench already disclosed it is 3GB.

Lenovo A6 Note display

There is no mention of the storage capacity but you don’t have to worry as the A6 Note has a triple card slot which allows you to use 2 SIM cards and a MicroSD card slot at the same time. The maximum capacity supported is 256GB.

The Lenovo A6 Note has dual cameras on its back. The primary camera is a 13MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and it is paired with a 2MP secondary camera for Bokeh Effect. The primary cameras use a 5P Sapphire Glass Lens and can record in 1080p. The front-facing camera is a 5MP sensor with features like AI beauty, whitening, skin smoothening, face reshaping, and eye enlarger. Lenovo adds that it has support for Face Unlock (unlocks in 0.3 seconds). You also have a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.

Lenovo A6 Note battery

To crown it, there is a 4000mAh battery under the hood. Lenovo boasts a 426 hour standby time, 92 hours of music playback, 40 hours of video calling, and 14 hours of video playback.

The Lenovo A6 Note will run Android 9 Pie out of the box according to Geekbench. We hope it at least gets an update to Android Q.

Amazfit Sports Watch 3 and Amazfit X Hands-on Photos

The Amazfit Stratos 2 finally got a successor with the launch of the Amazfit Sports Watch 3. The gap between the Sports Watch 2 aka Stratos 2 release and this new model had left some wondering if Huami was going to launch a successor. More so, the company launched the Amazfit Verge last year, deviating completely from the rugged look of the Stratos 2. The Sports Watch 3 finally arrived a few days back with a simple but classy design, putting to rest yearnings for a successor to the popular Stratos. The design looks like a blend of the Amazfit Pace and Amazfit Stratos 2 designs. It retains the multiple control buttons on the watch 2 but features a plain-looking design of the first-gen Amazfit Watch (Pace). The watch still has a rugged build, though, packing a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of the 1.34-inch JDI Full-Moon™ reflective low-power colour display. The watch comes in a Standard version with a stainless steel bezel and quick-release silicone straps and an Elite Edition that is covered with AF+AR coated sapphire glass and a titanium bezel. The Elite edition uses quick-release fluoro-rubber straps. There are four buttons on both versions of the watch.

The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 comes with a retail price of ¥1299 (~$181) in China while the Elite Edition is priced at ¥1699 (~$237). There is no word yet on the global release.

AMAZFIT X Hands-on pictures

Apart from the Sports Watch 3 and Amazfit GTS, Huami also unveiled the Amazfit X Concept Watch. Here are some pictures of the smartwatch which has a flexible curved display.Amazfit X

As a reminder, the Amazfit X utilises an all-metal integrated design with hidden electronic buttons that replace the raised traditional buttons. The watch features a proprietary 2.07-inch flexible curved screen shaped like a new moon. The watch equally has a larger display area of up to 244% compared to the display area of wearable devices with similar size. The screen also has 326ppi, 100% NTSC high color saturation and up to 430nits screen brightness.Amazfit X

Since the motherboard can’t be curved, the Amazfit X uses a 3-segment motherboard in order to adapt to the curvature. The watch also packs a 220mAh curved lithium battery which is said to have support for up to 7 days battery life. You’ll have to wait until 2020 to get the Amazfit X if it catches your fancy.

Check out the Apple Watch-lookalike Amazfit GTS in pictures

Huami unveiled the Amazfit GTS a couple of days back with a design that looks like the Apple Watch series. The Amazfit GTS seems to be a successor to the Amazfit Bip, the only Huami smartwatch with which it shares the rectangular-shaped design. We expect the device to be a hot-selling model especially due to the awesome design and studded specs lineup. The smartwatch costs just ¥899 ($125), that’s like a fraction of what you’ll pay for an Apple Watch. We must add that it comes with lesser features, though, but you get NFC o this one. Here’s a photo tour of the Amazfit GTS showing the smartwatch in all its glory.Amazfit GTS

The Amazfit GTS packs a 1.65-inch Super Retina-grade AMOLED screen with a resolution of 348 x 442 pixels and 341ppi. The display is covered with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 curved tempered glass. The watch is encased in a steel frame.Amazfit GTS

The watch uses a 20mm quick release silicone strap and is available in six different colors; pink, blue, meteorite black, beige, and red. You can read more about the watch from our launch article. Check out more pictures of the smartwatch from below.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite spotted; a variant of the Xiaomi CC9

The Xiaomi CC9 is expected to launch as the Mi A3 Pro but there is still no official word on a Pro variant of the Mi A3. However, a new finding shows the CC9 may launch under another name for a different market.

Xiaomi CC9

Mishaal Rahman, the editor-in-chief of XDA-Developers tweeted that a new device called the Mi 9 Lite recently appeared on Google’s list of certified Android devices. The device is shown to be a variant of the Xiaomi CC9 and it also has the same “pyxis” codename.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite

There is not enough information regarding the device but other than the name change, this will have the same specs as the Mi CC9. This is not the first time a Xiaomi phone will go by a different name in a different market. The Redmi K20/K20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9T/9T Pro are the most recent examples. There is also the Redmi Note 5A (Prime) which launched as the Redmi Y1 in India.

Earlier this year, there were rumors of a phone called the Mi 9X but it never launched. The Mi 9 Lite has a higher chance of launching since it already popped up on Google’s Certified Android devices list.

Soocas V1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush with up to 60 days battery life unveiled

Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company SOOCAS has unveiled a new electric toothbrush dubbed Soocas V1. The electric toothbrush will be up on sale on September 9. Soocas V1 Sonic Electric Toothbrush

In terms of the specification, the Soocas V1 Sonic electric toothbrush uses a magnetic levitation sonic motor with a maximum frequency of 42,000 beats per minute. Compared with a pendulum motor electric toothbrush, it has more power and a longer shelf life.

The toothbrush comes with three different modes. There is a gentle mode that is suitable for night brushing and those with sensitive teeth and for young people. This mode is suitable for cleaning stains from the teeth. You can switch between modes by pressing the power button.

Sharp to unveil the world’s largest 120-inch 8K TV and a 5G 8K TV at IFA 2019

IFA Berlin 2019 is just around the corner and as usual, tech companies are expected to exhibit their latest innovative products. Sharp has announced that it would be unveiling what it claims is the world’s biggest 8K smart television at IFA Berlin.Sharp 8K TV

The Japanese company did not reveal the name of the product but did indicate that it will be on exhibition from September 6 to September 11. The smart TV will feature a 120-inch display capable of 8K resolution. The company also disclosed that it would be unveiling a 5G TV also with 8 resolution.

Details of the mammoth 8K TV and the 5G 8K TV weren’t revealed. But we expect the 5G TV to come with a 5G baseband. The TV is designed for use during pubic exhibitions such as in museums and schools. The TV can remotely display ultra-clear videos and pictures of artworks. The exact size of the 5G TV wasn’t disclosed but it can broadcast 8K HDR content. Sharp is hoping to build an 8K + 5G ecosystem that can transmit ultra-clear videos and pictures to end-users via 5G networks or upload them to the Internet. Transmitting high-gamut 8K ultra-clear videos require at least 512Gbps of ultra-high bandwidth, and only 5G can provide that kind of speed.

We’ll bring you more details about the products when they are unveiled.

Retail box of Xiaomi Air 2 Bluetooth Earphones leaked

Xiaomi launched its first True Wireless Stereo earphones, the Xiaomi AirDots Youth Edition late last year. It then followed it up with the Xiaomi Air Bluetooth Earphones (Mi True Wireless Earphones/AirDots Pro) in January. It appears a successor to the Xiaomi Air is now set to launch as a leak has just revealed its retail box as well its name – the Xiaomi Air 2 (Mi AirDots Pro 2).

The retail box of the Xiaomi Air 2 Bluetooth Earphones is shown in the background of a photo shared on the web. The photo seems to have been taken at a Xiaomi office as the box is shown on the desk of an employee.

A close-up photo shows the design has changed a bit. The earbuds still come in white with a case just like that of the original. However, the part that goes into the ears has been redesigned.

[envira-gallery id=”273348″]

The retail box is near identical to that of the original Air save for the name which now says Air 2.

The Xiaomi Air 2 should be the Chinese version of the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 (TWSEJ02JY) we saw on the Bluetooth SIG website in July. The Bluetooth listing revealed the earphones now connect via Bluetooth 5.0. The switch to Bluetooth 5.0 should improve connection and range and translate to longer battery life.

We expect the Xiaomi Air 2 Bluetooth Earphones will keep the touch controls of its predecessor. So you should be able to answer calls, activate the AI assistant, or pause/resume playback by touching the earbuds. It should also come with better noise cancellation.

Xiaomi may announce the Air 2 Bluetooth Earphones in September, maybe alongside the Mi 9 5G or delay it a bit and announce it alongside the Mi MIX 4 (if it eventually gets to call it that).

Samsung Galaxy A90 5G’ retail box and specs leaked ahead of release

The Galaxy A-series has been transformed from an upper mid-range series to an all-encompassing series. While it already includes phones from the entry-level, mid-range, and upper mid-range category; Samsung is set to announce the first Galaxy A-series flagship – the Galaxy A90 5G. Ahead of its release, the phone’s retail box has leaked on the web and it gives us a close look at the design and also reveals some key specs.

The Galaxy A90 5G will have an Infinity-U display with black bezels running around it. The frame appears to be made from aluminum with a visible antenna line at the upper part. The volume control and power button are on the left as shown on the box.

[envira-gallery id=”273334″]

On the rear, the Galaxy A90 5G has triple rear cameras arranged vertically at the left corner. All three sensors share the same housing, and below the sensors sit an LED flash. The A90 5G doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner on the back, so we are pretty sure there is one under that Super AMOLED display, though we can’t say if it is an ultrasonic type.

The Galaxy A90 5G is shown in white but there should be other color variants available at launch.

The back of the box reveals some of the phone’s specs. The Galaxy A90 5G will have an octa-core processor but as Samsung is known to do, the name of the processor isn’t revealed on the box. Leaks and benchmark results have revealed the processor inside the phone is none other than the Snapdragon 855. The SoC is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The phone’s triple rear camera configuration is also listed on the box. The primary sensor is a 48MP camera and it is paired with 5MP and 8MP secondary sensors. The A90 5G also has a 32MP front-facing camera and supports 25W Super Fast Charging.

The Galaxy A90 5G still doesn’t have a release date but it sure will be launching in Samsung’s home country first.

Will Honor Play 3 launch alongside the Honor 20S on September 4?

The first-generation Honor Play smartphone was an important device for the company. It was the first gaming flagship from Honor and came with technologies such as GPU Turbo and 4D gaming at a very attractive price tag. While we haven’t heard much about its successor, it looks like Honor could skip a generation to call it the Honor Play 3.

Recently, an alleged box of the Honor Play 3 was spotted in China and shared on Weibo. Seeing this box, it is being speculated that the company has decided to name it the Play 3. Unfortunately, we aren’t really sure of its authenticity. The alignment of the words Play 3 seems a bit off. However, even if this leak isn’t real, there’s a good possibility that we might see Play’s successor at the September 4 Honor 20S event.

Honor’s Zhao Ming has already confirmed that we’ll meet one more device alongside the Honor 20S at the event. The Honor Play was announced back in July 2018, which means a successor to the device is already past due.

Editor’s Pick: Huawei Band 4e Basketball Wizard Edition gets its official launch

As for the Honor 20S, it is said to feature Kirin 810 chipset with 3750mAh battery, 6GB /8GB RAM and a 6.26-inch display. While the phone should offer tremendous value for its price, it remains to be seen how the trade ban will affect the new Honor devices outside of China. Huawei is already said to delay the international release of the Mate 30 Pro since it doesn’t have a license from Google to install its apps.

But it’s worth adding that while Google apps won’t come pre-installed on Mate 30 series models, users can always download and install these apps once they get the phone.

Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Realme XT vs Oppo Reno2 Z: Specs Comparison

Oppo tried to make fun of the new potential best-seller Redmi Note 8 Pro by announcing the Realme XT a few hours before the Xiaomi’s mid-ranger and making it the world’s first 64 MP camera phone. The handset was officially confirmed right before the announcement of the Redmi Note 8 Pro and right after the announcement of another Oppo’s mid-range phone: the Reno2 Z. While the Redmi Note 8 Pro catalyzed more attention due to Xiaomi’s popularity all around the world, it will be very interesting to discover which of these devices will offer the best user experience and the highest value for money. Through this specs comparison, we want to help you to find the best device independently from its popularity. Note that there was not a dedicated event for the announcement of the Realme XT, so actually there are some bits missing in its specs sheet.

Design

Oppo Reno2 Z is the most premium device if we talk about aesthetics. Not only it offers a more original design, but also a higher screen-to-body ratio and smaller dimensions than Redmi Note 8 Pro (despite it has the same screen size), as well as a futuristic pop-up camera. Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme XT both offer a classic waterdrop design with cheaper materials and less attention to details. Unlike its rivals, Redmi Note 8 Pro does not have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Display

Redmi Note 8 Pro could not feature an under-display fingerprint reader because it sports a classic IPS display, while both Oppo Reno2 Z and Realme XT feature a better AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint reader. On the display side, I personally prefer the Reno2 Z because it has a wider panel, narrower bezels around the display and it is notch-less. The display quality should not differ so much, so do not focus a lot on it.

Specs & Software

The presence of the Helio G90T SoC by MediaTek makes the Redmi Note 8 Pro the most performing phone of the trio. The Helio G90T is meant specifically for gamers, so it has very high graphics performance, it is backed by a liquid cooling system and it even offers better CPU performance. The only disadvantage is energy consumption, as it was built with a less efficient production process (12 nm). But you should not worry so much since the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a bigger battery. Just note that the most advanced memory configuration of the Reno2 Z by Oppo has more internal storage (256 GB), while its opponents stop at 128 GB.

Camera

In each case, you get an amazing quad-camera setup, even though not flagship-class cameras. Despite Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme XT feature 64 MP sensors and Reno 2 Z comes with a 48 MP main sensor, Reno2 Z sports optical stabilization and a brighter focal aperture, so its photo and video quality should be a lot better. The Reno2 Z is even the only to feature a selfie camera equipped with a front-facing LED flash.

Battery

Redmi Note 8 Pro has a bigger battery, but it also has a less efficient display and chipset. That is why Realme XT with its 10 nm chipset should be able to last more on a single charge with most of the usage patterns.

Price

We still do not know how much Realme XT will cost (most likely under €200/$220), but Reno2 Z debuted with a €380/$420 starting price while Redmi Note 8 Pro starts from just €180/$200. If we exclude the chipset, Oppo Reno2 Z is an overall better device, but given its performance and price, Redmi Note 8 Pro has a higher value for money. The only thing left is to wait for the listing price of Realme XT to make a definitive value for money comparison between the latest device from Oppo’s sub-brand and the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Xiaomi Mi A3 launches in Nigeria, starts at ₦71,900 (~$198)

The Xiaomi Mi A3 launched in July, first in Spain, before heading to Ukraine, Malaysia, and then India a few weeks ago. The phone has now made its way to Nigeria albeit without much or any fanfare at all.

The Mi A3 is not the first Android One smartphone in the country, the Infinix Hot 2 gets that title. Even before Xiaomi‘s re-entry into Nigeria this year, its other Android One smartphones (Mi A1, Mi A2 Lite, and Mi A2) have been sold by third-party retailers and even major online stores. So fans of the line will surely be excited that the 3rd-gen Android One smartphone is available in the country.

Xiaomi Mi A3 Nigeria

The Mi A3 is available in two configurations – there is a 4GB RAM + 64GB version and a 4GB RAM + 128GB version. Storage can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot (256GB max.). The 64GB version has a price tag of ₦71,900 (~$198) while the 128GB version is priced at ₦79,900 (~$220). The official Xiaomi Nigeria Twitter account said it is available across phone stores nationwide. We checked a couple of online stores and the only place we found it is on Slot.ng and that’s the 128GB version.
