Chinese smartphone manufacturers are gearing up to launch their first 5G phones in China. Towards the end of July, ZTE had started with the reservations of the Axon 10 Pro 5G phone in China. At that time, it did not confirm on the exact release date. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the Axon 10 Pro 5G is now available for purchase through online platforms like ZTE Mall, JD, Suning, Tmall and more.
The Axon 10 Pro 5G has landed in China with a price tag of 4,999 Yuan. By this, it has become the first 5G phone to be available for purchase in China. The handset is equipped with a hybrid SIM slot. The phone does not allow users to use two 5G SIMs at the same time. Users can use a 5G SIM and a 4G SIM simultaneously. The second SIM slot also doubles up as a microSD card slot.
The ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G that features a metal and a glass combination body measures 159.2 x 73.4 x 7.9mm and it weighs 175 grams. It is fitted with a 6.47-inch AMOLED display with a waterdrop-type notch. The display supports full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and it is integrated with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform powers the Axon 10 Pro 5G smartphone along with 6 GB of RAM. The presence of X50 5G modem brings forth 5G connectivity on the device. The native storage of the smartphone is 128 GB. The handset boots to Android 9 Pie OS that is overlaid with ZTE’s MiFavor 9.1 UI. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that carries support for Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology and wireless charging.
The front notch of the Axon 10 Pro 5G has a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The rear side of the phone has an LED flash assisted triple camera setup. It comprises of a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel sensor with OIS, an ultrawide 20-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS support and 3x optical zoom support. The smartphone supports 20x hybrid zoom.
In the previous month, an OPPO phone with a model number of CPH1931 was spotted on the database of Bluetooth SIG. The Bluetooth SIG listing had revealed some of the key specifications of the smartphone. Today, key details of an OPPO phone with model number PCHM10 have surfaced. The leaked specifications of the smartphone suggest that PCHM10 and CPH1931 could be the same phone since they have identical specs. The PCHM10 could be China-country variant whereas CPH1931 could be the model number of its international edition. Also, it is speculated that it could be the forthcoming OPPO A9s smartphone.
SlashLeaks has come across an OPPO remote test website listing of the purported OPPO A9s with PCHM10 model number. It reveals that the handset is fueled by 1.8GHz octa-core processor by Qualcomm that includes Adreno 610 graphics. The other image reveals that it is fueled by Snapdragon 6125 which refers to the Snapdragon 665 that was first seen on the Xiaomi Mi CC9e handset. The SoC is supported by 4 GB of RAM.
The size of its display is not mentioned. However, it reveals that the display supports HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 and it offers a pixel density of 298ppi. The device has a built-in storage of 128 GB. The handset boots to Android 9 Pie OS that is customized with ColorOS 6.0.1. It has also received August month’s Android security update.
Shown below is the Geekbench benchmark listing of the OPPO PCHM10. Trinket mentioned in the motherboard field reminds of Snapdragon 665 powered Mi CC9e’s Geekbench listing which also had its processor mentioned as trinket. It further reveals that the device has 4 GB of RAM and Android 9 Pie OS. It has scored 1560 and 5305 respectively in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench.
In July, a Bluetooth SIG listing of OPPO CPH1931 was spotted. It revealed that the phone features 6.5-inch HD+ display, Snapdragon 665 chipset, 5,000mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi support. Since the OPPO PCHM10 and CPH1931 have SD665 onboard, they may not be different devices. So, CPH1931 Bluetooth SIG listing may belong to the rumored OPPO A9s.
Now that plenty of details of the OPPO A9s have appeared, its arrival could be close at hand.
Many mobile phone manufacturers and operators have adopted numerous methods to create their own products using 5G since the issuance of 5G licenses.
Digital advertising, the PPT of the conference, the banner of the mobile phone store downstairs are few platforms are some of the widely publicized propagandas that suggest we are on the verge of fully entering the 5G era.
While domestic operators are already `gearing up for 5G, it is worth noting that we are still considerably far from truly making our foray into the 5G ecosystem. Despite currently being into the 4G era, the primary tool for communication today i.e. the mobile phone has already taken steps in the 5G direction.
Earlier this month, Huawei took the wraps off its first commercial 5G smartphone in China. Dubbed as the Huawei Mate 20 X (5G), this recently unveiled phone supports the Barron 5000 baseband, unlike the Mate 20 X. For those unaware, the Barron 5000 baseband is compatible with 5G network of NSA and SA networking. This is usually referred to as “dual-mode 5G.”
Supporting 5G connectivity, it is interesting to learn what the Huawei Mate 20 X(5G) will bring to the table. It remains to be seen exactly how will supporting 5G connection affect the phone’s battery life, or change its heat. The other burning question on everyone’s mind at the moment is where is 5G network now, and will it live up to the hype by offering faster connectivity?
This gave us a perfect opportunity to carry out a product interpretation and evaluate 5G signal of the Huawei Mate 20 X (5G).
Barong 5000 first look
I was taken back in time as soon as I switch the Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) smartphone on, given that it is based on Mate 20 X upgrade. I had a chance to check out the Mate 20 X at the London conference in October last year, and since then I did not get an opportunity to hold such a large mobile phone. Much to my delight, I have finally reunited with it like two friends meeting after a long time.
Sporting a mammoth 7.2 inches display, the Mate 20 X is almost like a mini-computer. A mobile device with that kind of display would have been added to a tablet phone category about five years ago, but thanks to the emphasis on screen ratio, I don’t mind carrying this big-screen mobile phone in my trouser pocket.
The Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) retains the Mate 20 X design, featuring a 7.2-inch display with 2244 x 1080 pixels resolution, rear-mounted capacitive fingerprint recognition, and the four-eye three-camera associated with the Mate 20 Series.
Including the 5G module did not drastically increase the phone’s weight. On the book data, the new machine weighs in at 233 grams, which is not a big difference with the Mate 20 X.
Aside from being housed in a mammoth form factor, the Mate 20 X (5G) has to lot to offer. The aesthetics of the phone itself will convince you that it is Huawei’s Mate 20 X (5G) version.
For instance, the 5G logo is clearly displayed on the back of the phone. Moreover, the back of the fuselage uses the same texture as the Mate 20 Pro and uses a cool color.
It grabbed my attention, reminding me of Jaguar classic British green.
Aside from that, the Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) has undergone a radical overhaul in terms of configuration. Not only does the phone supports Baron 5000 baseband, uses the SoC Kirin 980, but it also ships with 8GB of RAM and offers a hearty 256GB of internal storage capacity.
Alternatively, we can expand the storage capacity of the phone via the NM card.

On top of that, the phone supports Huawei’s own SuperCharge 40W super fast charge. The addition of a larger 5G module may have forced Huawei to redesign the area of the new module by reducing the battery compartment space.
While the non 5G version is backed by a 5000mAh battery, the Mate 20 X (5G) draws its juices from a slightly smaller 4200mAh battery because of the data.
There are hardly any changes in the camera and system configuration departments for the Huawei Mate 20 X (5G) and Mate 20 X. They house a 40-megapixel wide-angle, 20-megapixel super-wide-angle and 8-megapixel telephoto.
The system runs EMUI 9.1 OS and supports Turbo 3.0.
City 5G cover ratio exceeds expectations
Note: Even before 5G enabled mobile phones are made available to the public, the layout of the 5G base station had begun.
According to the China Unicom’s plan, which was revealed in April this year, the telecom will continue to cover 5G networks along with 33 hotspots in 7 cities in China within 2019. China Unicom plans to customize 5G networks in N cities at the same time.
The seven cities include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Xiong’an. China Unicom is gearing up to open 5G commercial by next year.
While the Guangzhou based 5G base station is still in the works, you can get a strong 5G signal in the downtown area of Guangzhou with the Mate 20 X (5G).
We are in the WeChat headquarters park, Guangzhou Tower, Zhujiang New Town. Even the west of the city gets a full 5G coverage.
Thanks to this strong signal, I decided to write a manuscript at my residence. Aside from the 5G signal, there’s also a green axis keyboard that doesn’t matter how loud it is.
Moreover, other areas including subways and some indoor venues are also receiving 5G signals. In the Pearl River New City, the signal goes back to 4G as soon as you enter the mall. When you put even a foot outside the mall, you will start receiving 5G signal again.
Fortunately, I found a Starbucks with a 5G signal on the way to the test. I bought a cup of coffee inside.
Wait, I might be the first person in Guangzhou to buy coffee with 5G?
The measured peak value is 6 times that of 4G, and the speed can continue to increase.
Much to my surprise, the 5G speed in Guangzhou is quite impressive. This significant improvement in the speed has redefined my understanding of the mobile network speeds.
In the test of 5 random scenes of Speed Test, 5G can get test scores of multiple times of 4G network speed.
The 666 Mbps downlink and the 71.7 Mbps uplink rate tested under the Guangzhou Tower (node: Guangzhou Telecom, Ping value 14 ms) was the best performance.
If you convert this to a wired network, it compares to a broadband speed of 500 to 600M, which is still a whopping six times faster than the speed offered by the existing 4G network.
Before we began the road test, my colleague also grabs a cup of coffee. He noted, “Guangzhou’s 5G is still testing, and the speed will not exceed 500 Mbps.” By the time I complete this review, it looks like the speed will reduce.
Future Society in Guangzhou Tianhe North is the first 5G commercial pilot area
It is worth noting that the 666 Mbps downlink does not represent the peak of 5G speed. The theoretical data suggests that the fastest 5G downlink speed is 1GBPS. Moreover, local media have achieved a staggering 1110 Mbps speed on their road tests.
In other words, the 666 Mbps is merely 70% of the 5G peak, and the speed is likely to go up.
As far as the fundamental impact on 5G signals and speed is concerned, it alludes to the coverage between base stations. Just for the sake of an instance, when I am in the Tent Creative Park in Kecun, the coverage of the Pearl River is 5G.
However, as soon as I cross the Pazhou Bridge, the 5G signal drops down to just a single grid. Interestingly, once I get off the bridge to the Pearl River New City, the 5G signal will be fully resumed.
It seems safe to say that there is a considerable coverage area between 5G base stations, and this is highly influenced by the gaps between the base stations.
Download Eminem’s album with 5G
Even with the 3G signal, the 5G downlink speed reaches 4M/s~6M/s, allowing you to download a 20 MB volume of music in only about 2 seconds.
I felt the software download part of this test was truly impressive. In fact, under the optimization of each vendor’s own software store, the 4G network download software has reached a considerable speed, and it can download a 50 MB program in just a few seconds.
Download apps in 5G batches
This mediocre speed of 90 points has propelled to 150 points in this 5G era. What you see here may seem unbelievable and I was kind of worried about the downloading speed of 70MB/s I was getting. It took only a second to download a program of 100MB size.
Before I could press the “Pause” button, the app was already installed.
When it comes to the 1080P video that you can find in the mainstream of video websites, I can afford to ignore the waiting time of the signal when I am getting a full 5G signal.
I’d like to clarify that this is not a local video that I downloaded. You can easily achieve 0 waiting when downloading a local video with 5G connectivity.
You and I will care about heat dissipation and power consumption
Will 5G make the phone hot? Will 5G make the battery life worse?
Multiple reports about 5G surfaced online last year, leaving us all anxious about the prospects of 5G mobile phones. You cannot discount the fact that the design, heat and power consumption of the mobile phone will change after the 5G module is added to the phone of the 4G generation.
But much to our relief, heat, and power are two factors that the manufacturer can take care of. After downloading the 900MB update package with Huawei Mate 20 X (5G), the phone’s body temperature increased from 27 ° C to 35.5 ° C. I noticed that the lower part of the camera warmer; however, it was not as bad as I expected it to be.
As for power consumption, I 10:33 taken from the video to start using mobile phones (100%), to measure the speed in dual card + 5G WiFi throughout the state, software downloads, video playback, micro-letters, the last game update. At 7:42 pm, the phone shows 20% of the remaining battery.
At this point, the total battery life is 9 hours and 8 minutes, which is similar to the 4G mobile phone of the same capacity.
Ultra-high-speed 5G, the future has arrived
A first terminal supporting apparatus is confirmed 5G network, should be on the folding panel MWC 2019 appearance models Huawei Mate X, and its common point between the maximum 20 X 5G Mate, both sitting should be greater Dimensional body.
Rather than worrying about the performance of the 5G era will bring, it is worth noting that the increased size of the fuselage will provide more space internally. Compared to the current 4G generation, it utilizes little battery space. As a result, manufacturers can easily add a 5G baseband chip inside. Taking up time and development costs into consideration, Mate series only Mate 7.2-inch screen seems to be the most ideal 20 X 5G.
Despite the battery capacity reducing from 5000 mAh to 4200 mAh, Huawei Mate 20X 5G battery capacity still represents a large battery of endurance tests, as the result of the foregoing. With the addition of 5G network, mobile phones will be consuming more power, but the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G will still be able to retain the normal power level of “one day at a time.”
While there are quite a few 5G-enabled mobile phones slated to hit the store shelves shortly, the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is the first handset to receive the network access license for 5G terminal telecom equipment in China. Moreover, it is the only 5G dual that simultaneously supports SA / NSA.
A Ministry of Industry and Information Technology spokesperson pointed out that from next year onwards, it will be necessary for 5G terminals to have the SA mode to enter the network. In other words, terminals that solely support NSA networking will be banned from network next year. There will be a full fully transition to the SA 5G network soon.
Therefore, in some people’s opinion, the Mate 20 X 5G is a truly 5G mobile phone.
With 5G commercial licenses being issued, and the successful foray of 5G terminals, operators and terminal manufacturers have come up with publicity campaigns for 5G. They suggest we are all set to embrace the 5G era with both hands. From our personal experience, we realized that 5G signals are not too hard to find either.
Nevertheless, the data rate will see a significant hike with the improvement of each generation. The changes in mobile internet that come as part and parcel of increased network speed are usually unclear during the initial stage of its popularization.
Just like 3G gave us apps, 4G introduced mobile payments, mobile online games, short videos, smart homes and more, we are quite excited to see what 5G networks bring to the table, although we are absolutely clueless about its potential at this moment.
For now, we know that we can expect a high rate of 5G networks, low latency, and the ability to do things faster than the 4G network.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is just two months old but a successor is already in development. Going by the tradition for the past few years, this successor is expected to add a “T” suffix to its name and launch as the OnePlus 7T Pro. Alleged live photos of the phone have now surfaced online.
The photos show the OnePlus 7T Pro in a case that hides its design. The clearer one of the two images shows that the phone doesn’t have a notch nor punch hole. The display is also slightly curved on the sides like the OnePlus 7 Pro. However, the speaker above the display is more visible than that of the OnePlus 7 Pro. This image also shows the phone is running a beta version of Android Q.

If OnePlus isn’t changing the design, we can expect the phone will also have a pop-up selfie camera. The major changes will be under the hood such as the new Snapdragon 855 Plus, upgraded cameras, possibly a bigger battery capacity and maybe, just maybe, wireless charging. We can also expect the OnePlus 7T Pro to come in new color variants.
The phone is not expected to arrive until November, going by the release dates of the OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5T, and OnePlus 6T. So we still have three months of waiting. However, before the official announcement, we can be sure there will already be more details about the phone.
The poster which was shared on Twitter by Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings). The poster which has a camera shutter design has a tagline that reads “Images of The Future”. At the top-right corner sits the Redmi and Mi logos.
We are not sure if the phone will actually launch on that day as a rough translation of the text below the tag line seems to hint that the event is a showcase of the future of mobile photography and not the phone itself. This is just speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.
Ice Universe said the phone will launch this month, so we may get more details about the device at Wednesday’s event if it doesn’t actually launch on that day.
Realme’s August 8 event is also said to be a demo too and not a proper phone launch according to the tweet below by Sudhanshu Ambhore.
The new 64MP camera technology is expected to change the mobile photography game but a lot of folks are not excited as the 64MP sensor uses Pixel Binning just like the 48MP camera. In this case, it combines four 16MP shots into a 64MP image that is brighter when you shoot in low-light.
Xiaomi has taken the wraps off its second gaming laptop – the Mi Gaming Laptop 2019. The laptop packs impressive specs and has a starting price of ¥7499 (~$1080).
Design
With respect to design, the Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 looks no different from last year’s model. You have the same number of ports and vents, a 15.6-inch display with the same bezel size, and the exact keyboard layout. However, we do feel like the 2019 version comes in a darker shade of black.
Specs
While the design hasn’t changed, a lot has changed under the hood. But before that, it is important to mention that the display has an interesting new feature. It is still 15.6-inches, has the same 81% screen-to-body ratio, and 72% color gamut. On top of all that, it adds a 144Hz refresh rate for much smoother gameplay.

A Xiaomi phone with the model number M1906GT was recently certified by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Other than this model number, nothing else is known about this phone. However, there are speculations as to which device it might be.
Some say this may be the Helio G90T phone Xiaomi/Redmi revealed it will launch soon. Lu Weibing, head of Redmi, was at the launch of the Helio G90 series and he revealed that the company will launch a phone powered by the chipset. He added that the phone will be available globally and not just in China.
In addition, apart from the Helio G90T phone, Redmi will launch a phone with a 64MP camera. There are reports that the Redmi phone will launch this month. Seeing as that has a more definite time-frame albeit unconfirmed, the Xiaomi M1906GT is most likely the Redmi phone with a 64MP camera.
Other than having a 64MP sensor, the only other thing we know is that the phone will have quad rear cameras. Its display size and type, processor, and battery capacity are unknown. However, more details should surface in the coming days if it is the device that got certified.
Gaming smartphones are slowly becoming a trend, and it is not a case given how important mobile gaming is becoming thanks to a lot of titles which are among the most played games out there. And let’s not talk about cloud gaming which will soon become popular and it will allow playing demanding games for PC and consoles even on smartphones. A few days ago, a new generation of gaming phones started popping up: Asus launched the ROG Phone 2 and Xiaomi announced the Black Shark 2 Pro a few days ago. They are the world’s first phones with the new Snapdragon 855+ chipset and that is why we decided to compare them with the other main gaming phones in the market. Today, it is the turn of the Black Shark 2 Pro which challenges Nubia Red Magic 3 and Vivo iQOO.

Design
No matter which phone you choose: you will get very nice gaming-centric aesthetics, but there is an important difference between Vivo iQOO and its rivals. The first has a traditional premium design just like most of the other high-end phones, while Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro and Nubia Red Magic 3 have an aggressive gaming-centric design. Vivo iQOO still has LED lights on its back and it even features capacitive triggers, but if you are a real gamer and you want a totally appropriate design with even better gaming-centric features, you should go either for the Black Shark 2 Pro or the Nubia Red Magic 3. Given that I mostly care about having an elegant and compact design, I would choose the Vivo iQOO. But it is all about tastes.
Display
A wide diagonal of 6.65 inches, a high 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage and even a high 90 Hz refresh ratio: Nubia Red Magic 3 simply has an amazing display, especially for gaming lovers. The presence of a so high refresh ratio makes me prefer this device over the Black Shark 2 Pro, but this does not mean it does not have a nice display as well, especially if we consider its 240 Hz touch-sensing experience and its 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage. But note that it lacks a 90 Hz refresh ratio and it has a smaller panel. Vivo iQOO does not offer the best color reproduction and neither high responsiveness, but unlike the Red Magic 3, it features an in-display fingerprint reader.
Specs & Software
The presence of the Snapdragon 855+ chipset makes the Black Shark 2 Pro the device with the highest performance (and not only in this trio, given that it recently obtained the highest AnTuTu score ever). In case you missed it, Snapdragon 855+ is an overclocked upgrade of the Snapdragon 855 which offers a higher clock frequency (2.96 GHz instead of 2.84 GHz) and 15 percent better graphics performances. However, do not underestimate the Nubia Red Magic 3 and its air cooling system which integrates a real fan running at 14,000 rpm: a perfect solution for long gaming sessions and hot weather.
Camera
The best camera seems to belong to the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro: we are talking about a rear setup including a 48 MP main sensor and a secondary telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom. It provides the highest detail and it is also very versatile. Right after, we got the Vivo iQOO with its triple camera including an ultrawide sensor and a depth sensor.
Battery
Given its 5000 mAh capacity, the battery found on the Nubia Red Magic 3 lasts longer than both Black Shark 2 Pro and Vivo iQOO, despite the phone features a bigger display.
Price
Prices are similar: they start from €450/$500 and €400/$445 (respectively) for Black Shark 2 Pro and Vivo iQOO, while Nubia Red Magic 3 costs €500/$556. At the end of the day, despite Black Shark 2 Pro has a more powerful SoC, I prefer the Nubia Red Magic 3 due to its amazing cooling system, its higher refresh ratio, its wider display, and its bigger battery. But if you want a better camera and max performance, go for the Black Shark 2 Pro.
A few days ago, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S6 – the most powerful Android Tablet today. If you purchase the BookCover keyboard and switch to DeX mode, you get an Android device suited for office work.
What if you don’t like Android? Then you may want to wait for the Galaxy Book S, a computer powered by the same Snapdragon 855 chipset as the Tab S6 but which runs Windows 10. Ahead of its release, press renders of the device have surfaced on the web, thanks to Evan Blass.
Initially, we thought the Galaxy Book S will be a 2-in-1, but these pictures show that is not the case. The screen isn’t detachable as you can see. We also can’t confirm if it supports touch input and stylus input as there is no S Pen in the photo.
The Galaxy S Book has a full-sized QWERTY keyboard and a moderately-sized touchpad. The screen has slim bezels on the sides and the top. On the left side of the computer are a USB-C port and what appears to be an audio jack. The picture doesn’t show the right side of the device.
The Galaxy Book S doesn’t have a release date yet but it may not be far off. Geekbench revealed it will have 8GB of RAM and its Bluetooth certification says it has Bluetooth 5.0.
The launch of the Galaxy Note10 series is a few days away and the leaks keep pouring in. The latest is the retail price for both phones in Europe and the US.
According to Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24), the Galaxy Note10 will have a starting price of €949. This is for the 256GB variant. If you want the Galaxy Note10+, you will have to pay €1099 for the 256GB version. If you want double the storage, you will shell out €1199 for the 512GB version. He adds that there may be slight differences in the price between countries.
In a separate tweet, he said the starting price of the Galaxy Note10 will be £899 in the UK while that of the Galaxy Note10+ is £999.
Roland Quandt is the source for the US pricing and he said the Galaxy Note10 will sell for $949 for the 256GB version. The Galaxy Note10+ will have a $1099 price tag, for the 256GB version. There is no pricing for the 512GB models.
Samsung will definitely add amazing gifts for those who pre-order the Galaxy Note10 duo. As is the tradition, the gifts will vary depending on the market.
The Galaxy Note10 series will come with Infinity-O displays which has a small hole in the middle of the screen for the front-facing camera. Both will support wireless charging and wired fast charging. Unfortunately, they won’t have an audio jack.

However, launching the first phone with a particular feature is one thing. How it measures up to that of the competition is another. Which explains why Redmi will also be announcing its own 64MP phone.
By the way, this month, Redmi will also release a 64MP camera phone, Samsung also restarted plans to launch 64MP A series phones in September-October.
According to Ice Universe, Redmi will announce its own 64MP phone this month (August) too but there is no date yet. We can’t say if it will be shortly after Realme’s launch or much later. What we can say is that there sure will be a lot of posts and videos comparing both phones.
So if you are looking forward to buying Realme’s 64MP quad-camera phone, you may want to wait for Redmi’s phone to launch before settling on which to buy. Redmi already shared a camera sample from the phone last month. It will also have four rear cameras like the Realme phone.

Sony‘s mobile phone business continued its losing streak in Q2 2019. The report released by the company showed that the Japanese company shipped just 900,00 smartphones between April and June that we wonder why the company has just refused to close down the mobile division. This is the lowest in the past 9 years the company’s shipments have plunged.
During this same period last year, Sony managed 2 million phone shipments. That itself was a low point compared to the likes of 2014 when the company’s shipment hovered around 10 million units each quarter.
The Japanese company has lowered its expectations for the rest of the year, putting its projected shipping estimates at 4 million phones by the end of 2019. This is 1 million down from the previously approximated 5 million units. The firm also projects that the revenue will only bring in JPY 380 billion ($3.55 million) in revenues which is 7% below the previous estimates. Operating income is will also be expected to take a hit.
Sony Xperia 1…Can it turn around the fortunes of Sony’s mobile division?
Recall that Sony rejigged the mobile phone business, with the Xperia 1 emerging as the first model that it expects to turn around the mobile arm’s fortunes. Sony is still positive that it can turn its fortunes around. The Xperia 1 was released at the end of May. So the company is looking at a positive result from the flagship in the second half of 2019.
Vivo released a lot of affordable phones with year. And when we say affordable phones, we do not only talk about mid-rangers and entry-level devices but also about affordable flagships. A few weeks ago the company announced the iQOO Neo which is currently one of the most interesting high-end phones in terms of quality price ratio. It is meant especially for gamers, but in the same price range, there are also other devices focused on the camera and other key features. In order to establish which kind of Vivo device you could actually need, we compared three of the most important affordable phones released by the company in the last weeks: Vivo Z5, V17 Neo and iQOO Neo. Let’s find out who is better and for which users.

Design
Glass backs, waterdrop notches, very narrow bezels, and compact dimensions. That is what makes these three devices wonderful when it comes to aesthetics. I would personally choose the Vivo V17 Neo because the gradient pattern on its rear side and its colors are way more original than most of the phones out there. But you should not underestimate the Vivo Z5 which is still a very elegant handset.
Display
All of these devices seem to mount exactly the same panel. The display is a midrange-class Super AMOLED panel with a diagonal of 6.38 inches and a Full HD resolution with 1080 x 2340 pixels. They all offer brilliant colors but not an excellent reproduction, however, they all integrate an in-display fingerprint reader. Not excellent, but more than sufficient. Obviously, it is a draw in regards to this comparison.
Hardware/Software
If you are seeking the fastest phone and the best device for gaming, productivity, and the most advanced usage patterns, go for the Vivo iQOO Neo without thinking twice. It is the only to feature a flagship chipset: the octa-core Snapdragon 845 running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz. The SoC is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage, but it lacks a micro SD slot unlike the Vivo Z5 and the V17 Neo. Note that the Vivo Z5 is the only to feature up to 256 GB of internal storage, while the advantage of the Vivo V17 Neo is the presence of a micro SD dedicated slot.
Camera
The camera is the strongest point of the Vivo Z5: the mid-ranger comes with the highest resolution for the main sensor (48 MP) and a very satisfying ultrawide lens, as well as an additional depth sensor. Further, it is equipped with an amazing 32 MP front camera for selfies. Vivo iQOO Neo is the most disappointing one, just like most of the gaming smartphones if we compare them with other flagship phones. Vivo V17 Neo sits in the middle as it comes with the same front camera as the Z5 but a rear camera with lower resolutions and a lower level of detail captured.
Battery
Given that Vivo Z5 and V17 Neo have a way bigger battery than iQOO Neo, both of them should last a lot more on a single charge in most of the scenarios. They both come with a 4500 mAh battery, but I believe that Vivo Z5 will last even more than V17 Neo thanks to its more efficient chipset: the Snapdragon 712 by Qualcomm built at 10 nm. Both Vivo Z5 and Vivo iQOO Neo have a faster charging technology than V17 Neo.
Price
Vivo Z5 is priced €210/$235 in its most affordable variant, Vivo iQOO Neo starts from €250/$278 and Vivo V17 Neo carries a €280/$312 price tag. If you want the most complete device with a high-end camera, a huge battery and well-balanced specifications, go for the Vivo Z5. But overall, if you only care about performance, Vivo iQOO Neo is better. Last, V17 Neo looks inferior compared to the Z5.
The tradition for a few years now has been that the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note series will be powered by the same Exynos processor. However, that will be changing this year. The Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note10+ will be powered by a new Exynos chipset which has been reported will arrive as the Exynos 9825.
Today, Samsung has confirmed that a new chipset is indeed coming and it will launch on August 7, the same day the Galaxy Note10 series will be unveiled.
The official Samsung Exynos Twitter account shared a video teaser ahead of the launch. The eleven-second video doesn’t reveal any detail about the chipset.
Based on reports, the Exynos 9825 will be a 7nm chipset unlike the Exynos 9820 that is 8nm. The smaller node size should bring improvements in performance and power efficiency.
The Galaxy Note10 powered by the Exynos 9825 appeared on Geekbench last month. There is even a comparison with the Galaxy S10+.
Samsung will announce the Galaxy Note10 series in New York. A few days before then, August 5 to be precise, Samsung will announce the Galaxy Watch Active 2. However, we have a feeling there will be another product announced alongside the phones at the event in New York. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube.
