Xiaomi Mi 9 still available for buying, stocks are finally stable

The Xiaomi Mi 9 that was introduced on Feb. 20 has met with impressive initial sales. The smartphone was always sold out within few seconds of sale. It appears that the Mi 9 and Mi 9 Explorer Edition stocks are finally stable since they are still available for purchase couple of hours after the sales time.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 was also made available for purchase at 10 AM (local time) today in China. While most of the variants of the phone are currently out of stock on Chinese retailer site Jingdong Mall, its 8 GB RAM + 128 GB edition is still available for purchase. Also, the 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant of the Mi 9 Explorer Edition is also available for buying. These phones are respectively priced at 3,299 Yuan (~$491) and 3,699 Yuan (~$551). Hopefully, the other variants of these phones may also become available for purchase at any time in the near future.

Apart from the above models, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi 7 that are respectively priced at 1,999 Yuan (~$298), 1,599 Yuan (~$239) and 799 Yuan (~$119) are also available for buying on Jingdong Mall.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a 6.39-inch S-AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution, Gorilla Glass 6 and in-display fingerprint reader. The Snapdragon 855 SoC powers the 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage editions of the phone. It includes a 3,300mAh battery that supports 27W fast charging and 20W wireless charging.

It is equipped with 48-megapixel + 16-megapixel + 12-megapixel triple camera setup on its rear. On the front is a 20-megapixel selfie snapper. The MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie OS is loaded on the device. It comes in colors like Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue and Piano Black. The base model of the Mi 9 is priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$447).

The Mi 9 Explorer Edition that comes with a transparent rear is packed with the same specs as Mi 9. It comes in two variants such as 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. Both models are respectively priced at and come in Transparent Black color. The 12 GB RAM variant carries a price tag of 3,999 Yuan (~$596).

Lenovo Z6 Pro’s Hyper Video feature showcased in a new teaser video

Recently, Lenovo Group Vice President Chang Chengfa has officially announced that the company’s next flagship smartphone Lenovo Z6 Pro will be unveiled on March 27. Earlier, the company had teased the phone’s launch during MWC 2019 last month but instead of launching the smartphone, the company just revealed that the phone will make its debut soon.

However, the company had confirmed that the phone will come with a feature called “Hyper Videos” but had not shared anything related to this, except that it will be the trend of the 5G era. The recently released teaser poster also mentions the word “HYPER VIDEO” but still, nothing much is known about this feature.

Today, a day before the launch of Lenovo Z6 Pro smartphone, Chang Cheng, VP of Lenovo Group posted a video teaser on Weibo showcasing the Hyper Video feature of the smartphone. The short video seems to be using macro and slow-mo effect.

Along with the video, he posted a text which roughly reads: “Four years of accumulation, one year and one month to develop, it is easy to make a different product. It is not easy to be a deeply rooted experience.” He is implying that it took over a year for the company to develop this Hyper Video feature.

Although he has not revealed any details related to this Hyper Videos feature, he did say that they will be transferred at a higher speed than the current videos. This new feature will be added as a new camera technology to Lenovo smartphone, starting with Z6 Pro.

The phone’s launch, which is scheduled to take place on 27th March, i.e. tomorrow, is unexpected as earlier the company had revealed that the Z6 Pro will be launched in June 2019 with support for 5G. There’s a possibility that the non-5G variant could launch this month while the 5G model will be launched in June.

Currently, the company’s flagship smartphone is Lenovo Z5 Pro, which is already ahead of the competition since it had launched the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT as the world’s first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 855 SoC and 12GB RAM in December last year.

Huawei thanks Apple CEO Tim Cook for warm up event before P30 series unveiling

On March 25, Apple introduced multiple services such as Apple New+, Apple Arcade gaming service, Apple Card and more through its Show Time event. Today, Huawei will be holding a launch event in Paris, France to unveil the Huawei P30 series. Taking a jibe at Apple’s event, Huawei released a tweet that “Thanks for the warm up Tim” suggesting that the “main event” will be held today.

Huawei’s event will begin at 2 PM CET and it will be livestreamed for the global audience. The specifications of the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are no secret since they have been revealed through multiple reports from the beginning of this year. The P-series phones from the company are known for delivering stellar photography experience. Hence, it is likely that the Chinese firm will reveal how the new P30 series phones are superior over the recent iPhones in photography and other departments.

The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro will be respectively featuring a 6.1-inch flat AMOLED and 6.47-inch curved AMOLED displays. The waterdrop notch enabled displays will produce full HD+ resolution. These phones will be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader and EMUI 9.1 interface. The homebrewed Kirin 980 SoC will be fueling both phones. The P30 will have a 3,650maAh battery while the P30 Pro will be equipped with 40W fast charging enabled 4,200mAh battery.

The Huawei P30 Pro will feature a quad camera setup will include a 40-megapixel main sensor, a 20-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens, an 8-megpaixel telephoto lens and a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor that will deliver 10x hybrid zoom. The P30 will feature a triple camera setup. Except for the ToF, it will have the very same camera sensors that are available on the P30. Both devices will be equipped with 32-megapixel front-facing cameras.

Redmi to first mass produce Xiaomi’s Super Charge Turbo 100W Fast Charging technology

Recently, Xiaomi revealed its Super Charge Turbo 100W fast charging technology which essentially charges a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in just 17 minutes! Now Lu Weibing, head of Redmi products, has revealed through a Weibo post that Redmi will be the first to mass produce the Xiaomi’s Super Charge Turbo technology for its smartphones.

Earlier, Lin Bin, President and co-founder of Xiaomi had revealed through a Weibo post that the company’s engineers successfully tested 100W fast charging for smartphones. This is nearly twice as fast as the SuperVOOC from OPPO, which is currently the fastest charging technology available in the market for smartphones.

The company also showcased that the OPPO’s SuperVOOC could only charge up to 65 percent by the time the Xiaomi’s model smartphone was completely charged. While the company hasn’t confirmed this but it’s safe to assume from the video that the tech is being called as Super Charge Turbo.

Currently, there’s no much information available related to this technology apart from the demo video shared by the Xiaomi CEO Lin Bin. While Lu Weibing confirmed that Redmi will be the first to mass produce this technology, he has not provided any timeline for this development.

The company could use this Super Charge Turbo technology in its upcoming flagship smartphone which will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 octa-core 7nm chipset. It was recently confirmed by the Redmi executive that the SD855-powered Redmi smartphone won’t be launched anytime soon. So, we’ll have to wait at least for a few months before we know more.

Samsung Galaxy Fold to be available on pre-order in Europe from 26th April

Last month, Samsung officially launched its first foldable smartphone after years of waiting — Samsung Galaxy Fold. The device comes with a hidden hinge system with interlocking gears that allows you to fold and unfold the device.

Now the South Korean company has announced that the phone will be making its debut on 26th April in the US and Korea. Further, it’s also confirmed that the smartphone will be available for pre-orders in Europe on the same day and will start shipping from 6th May.

It will go on pre-orders in 15 markets — the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Romania, and Switzerland. As expected, the smartphone is priced at €2,000, which roughly converts to $2,263.

All the customers will be getting a free pair of the new wireless Galaxy Buds, as well as a slim-design protective Kevlar case, along with one-year damage cover through Samsung Care+.

Coming to the specifications, when open, the Galaxy Fold smartphone presents a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display with a 1536 x 2152 resolution. In this mode, you can use three apps at the same time which Samsung calls Three-app Multitasking.

Along with the Moto G7 smartphone launch in India, the China-based Lenovo-owned company also launched the Motorola One smartphone in the Indian market. The device was originally launched in August last year.

The Motorola One is the company’s first smartphone to feature a notched display. It comes with a 5.9-inch IPS LCD display that supports HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels along with 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM.

The phone packs 64GB of internal storage and come with a microSD card slot, allowing users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB. In the camera department, the phone is equipped with a dual camera setup consisting of a 13 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP secondary sensor.

On the front side, the device is equipped with an 8 MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling, which is housed inside the notch. There’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, embedded under the company’s logo. It also has a P2i nano-coating for ensuring splash-resistance.

Since the phone is a part of Google’s Android One program, it runs on the stock version of Android Oreo operating system out-of-the-box and is confirmed to receive software updates at a faster pace for 2 years. The company has already released the Android Pie update for the smartphone.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, and USB Type-C port. The phone is powered by a 3,000mAh battery which comes with support for 15W Turbo Charging.

The Motorola One comes in two color options — Ceramic Black and Clear White. The phone is priced at Rs. 13,990 (approximately $203) and is now available for purchase through Moto Hub stores, Flipkart, and leading offline retailers across India.

OPPO recently showcased its breakthrough periscopic camera lens technology which offers 10X lossless zoom for smartphone photography. The camera samples that have been shared shows the feature isn’t just gimmick but could be real. That technology would find its way into a smartphone with the upcoming OPPO Reno. The Reno is expected to be launched on April 10 and ahead of that, the company has revealed quite a number of details about the device, thanks to the company’s VP Bryan Shen. The OPPO Reno will be available in four different color options namely Sea Green, Midnight Black, Pink and Nebula Purple. Whichever colour or finish it adopts, the Reno will sure have a sleek design with well-chamfered edges and 3D curved body.

OPPO Reno is a flagship model that would be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chipset. Another major highlight of the model is the 48MP Sony sensor onboard. The device will also pack a big 4064mAh battery. Since it is a flagship model, one would have expected the device will have wireless charging support but that isn’t going to happen. OPPO disclosed recently that it wouldn’t feature its SuperVOOC fast charger and that seems to be as a result of the big battery. Instead, the device will have the VOOC 2.0 fast charging technology.

Samsung has announced a new member of the Galaxy A-series in its home country of South Korea. The Galaxy A70 is the latest to join the series and its arrival comes a few weeks before Samsung’s Galaxy A-series event scheduled for April 10.

The Galaxy A70 has a lot going for it. It has the largest display in the A-series – a 6.7-inch Infinity-U Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2400 resolution. Hidden inside the notch is a 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera just like the one found on the Vivo V15 Pro. The back is made from the same 3D Glasstic material as the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50.

Powering the Galaxy A70 is the Snapdragon 670 – an octa-core chipset with 2x cores at 2.0GHz and 6x cores at 1.7GHz. There is 6GB or 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage. You also get a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion.

There are three cameras on the rear of the A70 – another 32MP sensor but with an f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 123° FOV, and a 5MP f/2.2 depth camera. There is a scene optimizer that can identify up to 20 scenes and adjust the camera settings for the best output.

The phone still has more party tricks. It has a 4500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. Yes, the A70 supports a faster charging technology than the Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+. Only the Galaxy S10+ 5G also supports 25W fast charging.

There is also an in-display fingerprint scanner to keep your phone secure and it works with Samsung Pass, so you can sign in to apps and websites using just your fingerprint scanner. One highly anticipated smartphone this year is OnePlus 7. The phone isn’t expected until the second half of the year but the rumour mill has been agog with leaks about the device. A YouTuber has just created a video of the OnePlus 7 renders which shows the supposed design of the OP7, based on the leaked details we have seen so far.

Perhaps, what stands out on the OnePlus 7 design as seen on the renders is the pop-up selfie camera design. The lack of a selfie camera on the display ensures the bezels are trimmed down. But we won’t bet the real OP7 will have such tiny bezels around the display. We expect the device to come with the in-display fingerprint sensor that was first seen on the OnePlus 6T.

At the rear, the smartphone is expected to arrive with a triple camera setup. The three cameras are stacked vertically at the middle with the LED flash at the bottom. The cameras have a slight bulge. Huawei Enjoy 9S in pictures: Sleek design, triple cameras on a budget

Huawei continues to blaze the trail in the design of its smartphones and the internals as well. Little wonder the company still continues to sail stronger despite stiff pressures from the US. The Chinese smartphone market leader took the wraps off two Enjoy 9 series smartphones dubbed Enjoy 9S and Enjoy 9e which was launched alongside the MediaPad M5 Lite. Among the trio, Huawei Enjoy 9S stands out for its sleek premium body despite being a mid-range model. It is just apt that we share these cool pictures of the Enjoy 9S while we wait for a review unit to reach our team.

Huawei Enjoy 9S design isn’t really one that we haven’t seen before. It bears semblance on the front aspect with the budget Enjoy 9 launched in December last year. Even though this model packs features that definitely places it in the midrange segment, it is priced like a budget model. For one, the Enjoy 9S packs a triple camera setup at the rear arranged in a similar manner as the P20 Pro. The cameras include a 24MP primary sensor paired with a 16MP super-wide angle lens with an expansive 117° field of view. The third sensor is a 2MP depth sensor. With such an arrangement, we expect the device to be a photography expert. The back is covered with glass with an NCVM finish which gives it a ceramic outlook. there is equally a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

At the front aspect, the device features a 6.21-inch display with the waterdrop notch which houses an 8MP sensor for selfies. Samsung Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A60 key specs and images spotted on TENAA and FCC

The upcoming Samsung phones with model numbers SM-A7050 and SM-A6060 have received approval from TENAA telecom authority of China. These phones are expected to release in China as Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A60. The TENAA listings of these phones have only revealed information on their display size, dimensions and battery capacity. The A60 phone has also been approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S.

The Galaxy A70 TENAA listing has revealed that it is fitted with a massive display of 6.7 inches with waterdrop notch. The Galaxy S10 5G edition smartphone is also equipped with the same sized display. There is no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the device since it is fitted with an in-screen fingerprint reader.

The rear shell of the phone that seems to be made out of glass is fitted with a triple camera module along with a LED flash. Through the TENAA certification of the Galaxy A70 has revealed that its dimensions are 164.2 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm. It is packed with a 4,400mAh battery. In the recent past, the Galaxy A70 smartphone have also bagged from Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi certifications.

The Galaxy A60 seems to be equipped with a glossy plastic rear. An oblong shaped fingerprint scanner and an LED equipped with triple camera setup can be found on the back panel of the smartphone.

The smartphone is fitted with a 6.3-inch display which sports a punch-hole at the top-left corner like the Galaxy A8 from last year. The handset receives power from 3,410mAh battery. The device measures 155.2 x 73.9 x 7.9mm. The FCC certification of the phone has also revealed that its display measures 162.1mm which equates to 6.38 inches. Through FCC it has been found that the phone carries support for 15W fast charging, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and ANT+.

Huawei executive teases 40W power bank that can charge the MateBook

At MWC 2019, Huawei announced the new MateBook 14 and a new version of the MateBook X Pro. Both come with a USB-C 65W power adapter and can be used to charge other devices too. It appears the manufacturer has a power bank in development that will be able to charge the notebook when you are on the road or away from a wall outlet.

Earlier today, Huawei’s VP of mobile business, Li Xialong Bruce Lee, shared a photo of a Huawei MateBook connected to a device that’s covered up. Between the cable and the device which we believe is a power bank is a Power-Z USB Voltage Current Tester. The display on the tester shows the device is drawing 19.9V and 1.86A of current. The total power drawn is 37.19W.

One can deduce that the power bank supports USB Power Delivery and can support a maximum power output of 40W. Though not as fast as the 65W power adapter, this should keep the MateBook from running out of battery while in use. The power bank should also be able to charge your phones or other devices that support charging via USB Power Delivery.

Xiaomi reveals 100W Fast Charging tech, 4000mAh battery charged in just 17 minutes!

Gone are the days when Chinese companies blatantly copied western giants. In the past few years, companies coming out of China like Huawei and Xiaomi has pioneered a lot of modern-day innovations that go inside your phone. And it looks like the trend will continue for a foreseeable future.

Xiaomi has just revealed that it has successfully tested 100W fast charging for smartphones. Lin Bin, President and co-founder of Xiaomi revealed this news via a Weibo post a few hours ago. In the post, he revealed that the company’s engineers were able to achieve an astonishing 100W fast charging, which essentially charges a 4000mAh battery from 0 to 100 percent in just 17 minutes! That’s nearly twice as fast as the SuperVOOC from OPPO, which is currently the fastest charging technology available in the market for a smartphone.

The company was even kind enough to show us that OPPO’s SuperVOOC could only charge up to 65 percent by the time the Xiaomi model on display was charged completely. By the way, Xiaomi’s 100W charging tech is being called as Super Charge Turbo, at least according to the video.

Unfortunately, apart from this demo, Xiaomi’s Lin Bin didn’t share any more details about the technology. So, the big question now is, whether we’ll see it anytime in the near future. We still haven’t met the real successor to the Mi Mix 3 yet (apart from a 5G edition), so it’s possible that the Mi Mix 4 could house this tech inside. Interestingly, the company seems to have teased the update to the Mix 3 model earlier today. So, it couldn’t have been a coincidence that Lin Bin decided to share this today. Anyway, let’s wait for more details before we get too excited. Stay tuned for more updates.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite 2019 Hands on Pictures capture the tablet from all sides

Huawei today launched the MediaPad M5 Lite 2019 model alongside the Enjoy 9S and Enjoy 9e. The tablet is a successor to the model launched last year bearing the same name but having different specs configuration. Some of the design features are also different from last year’s models as can be seen from the hands-on pictures which we have brought to you, thanks to Chinese blog MyDrivers.

The MediaPad M5 Lite is a cheaper and cost-effective version of the MediaPad M5, with a starting price of 1199 yuan ($178) which is pretty impressive. This time around, Huawei made the tablet available in 8 inches and 10 inches display sizes. The M5 Lite is also available in LTE and WiFi versions. The 8-inch LTE version is pictured in these hands-on but we believe it is no different from its 10-inch sibling.

Let’s take a look at the design. The MediaPad M5 Lite uses a metal body that is polished on all sides to give it a curved finish. The tablet weighs just 310 grams, slightly smaller than a bundle of A5 paper. The screen is an IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1200pixels. The display also has a 283ppi and 16:10 fullHD screen ratio. The aspect ratio means there is a sizeable amount of bezels on all four sides of the screen. The display is said to come with Blu-ray eye protection technology, automatic sitting posture adjustment and tablet timeout control settings.

The rear design has the Harman Kardon badge at the bottom which means the dual stereo speakers has the touch of Harman Kardon. The sound also come with support for Huawei’s Histen sound technology in order to achieve optimum sound quality. The tablet also supports voice control from up to a distance of 5 meters. The back is made of metal except for the top and bottom edges made of plastic due to the antenna band that runs through those areas. The rear camera is nested at the top left corner with a pronounced camera bulge. By the way, the tablet also has a selfie camera located at the top centre when the tablet is placed in a portrait position.

At the top and bottom edges are quite pronounced speaker grills at the centre. As a result, the USB 2.0 port is at the bottom left corner and a 3.5mm audio jack is at the same position on the top edge. On the LTE variant, the SIM card slot is at the top left corner and the SIM tray has slots for two SIM while one of the slots also double as a microSD card slot. The right side of the display houses the power button and the volume rocker.

As a reminder, the MediaPad M5 Lite is powered by a Kirin 710 chipset and comes in 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB variants. It packs a huge 5100mAh battery which Huawei says can last up to 28 days on standby mode and can play videos continuously for 10.6 hours. The tablet comes in champagne gold and deep gray colours. Design

You should not worry so much about the aesthetics as all of these devices feature very beautiful bodies. If I was asked to choose one of them just by looking at the design and materials, I would go for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 because of the strong protection for its display (Gorilla Glass 5) and the water resistance (despite it is not IP-certified). Do not worry about the bezels as all of them come with a very high screen-to-body ratio and a waterdrop notch. And you can also get all of them in stunning gradient hues.

Display

The victory on the display side should go to the Huawei Enjoy 9S as it comes with a panel boasting slightly better parameters, at least on the paper. We are talking about a 6.21-inch screen with a Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Honor 10 Lite do not differ so much when it comes to their displays, so it would be better to look at the rest of the specs sheet in order to make a wise choice.

Specs & Software

Just like displays, even when it comes to hardware and performance these handsets are pretty similar. They all come with almost equivalent chipsets: the Kirin 710 on Huawei Enjoy 9S and Honor 10 Lite, and the Snapdragon 660 for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. Honor 10 Lite is the winner of the hardware comparison for a simple reason: it comes in a more powerful memory configuration. Indeed, it boasts up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage which you can furtherly expand with a micro SD card. In each case, you get Android 9 Pie out of the box, customized by a user interface (MIUI for Redmi Note 7 and EMUI for all the Huawei devices).

Camera

Honor 10 Lite loses the camera comparison because of its lower-end rear cameras, but note that it has a better selfie camera with a 24 MP resolution which can provide a very high level of detail paired with pretty nice AI features. Huawei Enjoy 9S is the one I prefer because it has a triple camera setup including an ultrawide sensor which is very useful for today’s photos. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 delivers a stunning photo quality thanks to its 48 MP main sensor found on the rear dual camera setup, so do not underestimate it.

Battery

The battery is definitely the component which makes the difference here. While Huawei Enjoy 9S and Honor 10 Lite have a standard 3400 mAh unit, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 comes with an oversized 4000 mAh battery which makes it last a lot more on a single charge. You can reach up to two days of moderate use with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, while Huawei Enjoy 9S and Honor 10 Lite usually need to be charged before 1.5 days.

Price

If you want to bring a unit of the Huawei Enjoy 9S or the Honor 10 Lite at home, you are willing to pay about €200/$225 and €210/$235 respectively, while Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 costs just $149 in China and €179/$205 globally. Overall, Redmi Note 7 wins the comparison thanks to its bigger battery, nice build quality, and great cameras.
